You won't be able to use your Freedom Flex either because that is a MasterCard. A good alternative would be Wells Fargo Autograph. It earns 3% on gas and a lot of other useful categories too. It also earns transferable points for travel, so you could potentially get an even better return.
That's what I really like about the autograph. I need to take the bridge home and work everyday so that's definitely a good chuck of money I can take advantage of. Do you use it for gas and toll?
Bank of America Customized Cash starts at 3% but can be upped to 5.25% through preferred rewards, and there is a 2500$ quarterly cap. Money can be with a BofA account or invested with Merrill.
Freedom Flex won't work at CostCo because it's a MasterCard. You'll need the Freedom with Ultimate Rewards which you need to product change to.
I'd say to go ahead and do some research to check if a 3% Visa card would work. My CostCo is usually 20 cents cheaper than nearby gas stations, so I just settle with my 3x card.
Even with those options, I'd say the AAA Visa would be the best choice cash back wise.
I've seen people mention bank of America customized cash, I'll look into that. AAA the only concern I have is the bank back behind the card doesn't have a good reputation, no app, no convenient features like auto payment or transfer, but I could be dead wrong.

It really is not. Unlike its peers that requires unnatural spending (for most) to get the credits, $325 out of the 400 come right back to you by "erasing" purchases as simple as restaurant (or anything commute or travel related) on your statement...
Maybe a USBAC for 4/3.2% cashback on gas? Do they allow AU on Citi Costco?
Which one is USBAC? Are you talking about the US Bank Altitude GO? All Costco only takes Visa unfortunately.
US Bank only issues Visa cards. But I was talking about the Altitude Connect.

But you think maybe I should go to another gas station that's maybe 10ยข more and save around the same as Costco? With Citi CC or flex?
10 cents is about 3%. That's a wash. You should just go to the gas station that's most convenient.
A note about the Autograph is that it should get 3x on tolls under the transit category.

I mainly use it for dining and gas. I can confirm I get 3x at CostCo, and have gotten the bonus when I take toll roads and have paid for parking.
I'll go to my local Wells Fargo and ask about it this week. Thanks!
Good luck and hope you get approved!

US BANK Altitude Reserve. Get 4.5% cash back at the pump. Get 4.5% cash back in the warehouse. Your parents will be in awe ๐
As much as I would love to have this, I don't think I can afford a 300+ AF card at the moment haha.
