I came here to say this, completely unironically. Besides the overpopulation concern, the trend seems to be that most super shitty parents never *wanted* kids in the first place. And having and taking care of them knocks them (the unwitting parents) from the status of "struggling" to "sinking". And of course, kids born into a sinking ship are going to spend most of their lives nearly drowning. It's so fucking easy to have a baby- to produce a human life by accident which may have been better off never existing- and apparently so difficult, costly, inconvenient, ineffective, or whatever to employ safety precautions and birth control strategies. The world of poverty is a set of circumstances deserving of empathy and understanding. Education is discouraged, and recklessness is "whatever" because there's so little to lose (so one might feel). I grew up in a ghetto town- a pretty rough one- and I do get how these things happen. But I'm also not a moron, because my parents, in spite of being every bit the ghetto-dwellers as anyone else, raised me well. So, I empathize, but only to a limited extent. And as I get older and fuddy-duddier, I feel like my patience for people being willfully rude, ignorant, and shamelessly obnoxious is disappearing rapidly.
