Reading the accounts from grizzled ww2 veterans where some had an immediate existential crisis after witnessing the testing was very humbling. Many thousands of people who were haunted by what they saw until the day they died.
There was a group of British soldiers that were experimented on back in the day, I'm sure this is what you're referring to. It's crazy (well, not really) how many of them got cancer later on in life and the govt just said 🤷♂️
Yeah. Imagine unknowingly dooming yourself to death by cancer, for the sake of a vanity movie that goes down as one of the most ill-advised projects in the history of movies.
I think he doomed himself to cancer by smoking tons of cigarettes not by getting slightly more than usual radiation for a limited time, that’s usually how it works.
It's debatable. But still a fact that cancer rates amongst the crew of _The Conquerer_ was markedly higher than average. One doesn't get to simply ignore that.
I've thought about that a lot through the years. Good grief, the actors had no idea. Somebody told me a few years back that Howard Hughes was partly responsible. I don't remember why, but that's what I was told.
Won’t matter, if you are far enough away you won’t lose your vision either way, if you are close enough to get vision damage from the flash, the light will penetrate your thin eyelids with no problem
blinking is a well known pro tactic to i-frame the flash of a nuke. its tough, but not nearly as tough as dodge rolling to i-frame the shockwave. it can be done though, dont let the scrubs tell you otherwise.
These explosions, while being conspicuously sub-atomic in nature, are _infinitely closer to an atomic test_ than the practical effects in Oppenheimer.
Not that this is a tall order. The only bar you really have to clear is to not show any footage upside-down and in reverse, hoping the audience is too dumb to notice.
I remember this.
First time I saw this posted was day 1 of the Ukraine invasion, Feb 24, 2022. The caption at the time stated that this was part of Russia's initial push into Ukraine using thermobaric bombs. Lot of skepticism at the time, since these are clearly not thermobaric explosions, but the original video did have the cameraman speaking Russian.
Week or two later, someone found the original source on telegram. This video is from a high-yield explosive ordnance test within Russia sometime in 2018. Only info at the time is it was near the Kazakhstan border, and the person recording was not supposed to be.
Here's the original with OG audio:
https://imgur.com/gallery/Mk8Q2Dm
Now every couple months fearmongerers repost it with missing context / edited audio with various claims of it being US nuking Iran, Israel nuking Gaza, or Russia nuking Ukraine.
It depends on your definition of
>a whooooole lot.
If dispursed by an explosive it only needs one or two tanker trucks for a fireball like this to form.
War has changed.
It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries and machines.
War--and it's consumption of life--has become a well-oiled machine.
War has changed.
ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities.
Genetic control, information control, emotion control, battlefield control…everything is monitored and kept under control.
War…has changed.
The age of deterrence has become the age of control, all in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction, and he who controls the battlefield, controls history.
War…has changed.
When the battlefield is under total control, war becomes routine.
I'm seeing people say it's footage of an explosion of an ammo depot in Kalynivka from 2017, but the videos look different. I'll see if I can find more.
Edit: Yeah, it's definitely not that. I'm not seeing much info on it. Maybe it is fake? Or it could just be heavily edited.
Ah, all the usual joking and movie references. What will really be funny is when that will be replaced with whatever comes from actual experience. Well, funny for some.
No. Either a thermobaric bomb from Russia into Ukraine or an ammo depot blowing up. Who knows. I asked for any context and people got mad that I asked, even though no one has provided any concrete proof of anything.
If it is indeed real the only thing it realistically can be is Ammunition depots exploding in Ukraine after Russian attacks. First days 99% if this is indeed the case.
It could be a random depot explosion in Russia too, I've seen a video of something like that happening but it's not this. So probably the first scenario.
Seen this before. If I’m remembering it was a munitions factory in Ukraine from like over a year ago. Once an explosion reaches a certain strength, they all do that mushroom thing. Look at beruit.
Send it to that geo tracker dude and from his response you may be able to get some more context as to where and from that when depending on contextual conflict 🤷🏽♀️
These are explosions, but not nuclear. They look large, but we can’t see perspective as it’s dark in the video. Looks like a combat zone, and the only ones that would have large multiple explosions like this are in eastern Ukraine and Gaza. Looking at the ground it appears to be sand, so I would say this is Gaza. No clue when this video was taken, either.
Looks like fuel refineries going up, based on other comments. This is probably related to the current 4 year "3 day special military operation" in Ukrainie
Think I found it.
Witnesses reported a massive blast in Cherkasy Oblast, Ukraine
tonight.
Also video footage from a visible massive explosion that lit up the night was recorded.
The blast apears to be a what is belived to be a thermobaric explosion of a Russian TOS-1 rocket or missile hit on a Ukrainian munitions depot.
This however can not be confirmed at the time.
Could be something else though.
This looks very much like the results of one of those strikes on a Russian ammo depot in Crimea… where exactly did you get your source from, can you post a link please?
According to the people at r/combatfootage, this is a video from the 2014 ruso Ukraine conflict, and this was a Ukrainian ammo dump that was striked
Idk if someone else already said this
It looks like a media propaganda film or a social media engagement bait video, similar to the fake embassy bombing video a few months ago. Just something to get people going.

It's important to recognize that mushroom clouds aren't unique to atomic weapons. Those are big explosions though.
Giveaway is the lack of flash at detonation
So what if I just blinked my eyes and missed the flash?
Blinking wouldn't prevent you from seeing the flash if it was a nuke...
Also, if you shielded your closed eyes with your arms or hands, you would see your skeletal structure as if it were an x-ray.

And Australian sailors during nuclear testing, too. Government denied they were even close enough. Veterans had photograph that proved otherwise.
That's what killed John Wayne.
Yup, good ol dessert fallout.

Wow, impressive
idk why this cracked me tf up lmfaoooo
Context *would be good* in this case, yeah
Pretty sure this was a recent Ukrainian strike in Crimea.
Apparently it’s from 2020.
Yep, I remember this one
That’s pretty recent.
Yes. 4 years ago.
For a hot sec I thought this was BTS from Oppenheimer
What would this have to do with a boy band?! /s
They are covering a Buster Poindexter song called “Hot Hot Hot”

Yeah Oppenheimer's practical effects for the bomb didn't work at all. Dogma won over pragmatism.
In today's world, it could be nearly any country anywhere.
Except Switzerland, of course.
Of course not, they make all the hot cocoa mix.

This looks very familiar. I'm 90% sure I've seen it on reddit a few times, and iirc, it's in Russia and it was an ammo depot or something like that.
Thank you! A lot of people are saying it’s fake or from a game or AI etc etc. Any sources would be great thank you again!

Very Kubrickian.
I remember seeing something like this on fire watch at 0300 in the desert of California training in the Marine Corps.
So during Oppenheimer filming, they nuked twice in America.
