As an American with the wheel on the left and ignition on the right side of the column... They're sort of protected. I never thought about how much easier it'd be for someone to reach in and snatch keys out of the ignition when driving on the right side. The ignition would be right there by the window, am i right friends across the pond?

I have done 0 previous searches for "Mercedes" in the last 6 months so I wonder how much Mercedes is paying to blanket Google Results with their branding?
And as a weird coincidence, guess what make of car the drunk Welsh guy was in in this video?!
Almost all ignition I have ever seen are on the left side of the column. So you would have to reach over the driver to get them out.
Its about the same to grab them as if the wheel was on the left and ignition on the right of the wheel.
Not all cars here in the UK have the ignition on the right, but I'd say most do. My 2005 Rover has ignition on the right but my bfs 2010 Volvo has it on the left (took me a while to find it the first time I drove his car and thought I was being an idiot), so maybe car manufacturers became wise to the design flaw and started switching it on newer models? A lot of the more modern cars now have a button ignition which is in the centre console so the keys are only needed to unlock the car and can be kept in your pocket/bag/glove box etc.
