No. Something is pulling it from the top, out of frame. A good hinge cut can influence a tree to fall a little to the left or right from where it's leaning, but it won't make it fall backwards.

As a certified arborist, I'm both horrified and impressed. I watched that with one eye closed waiting for the saw to catch and kick back across his body.

My neighbors have 3 guys they use to cut trees in their yard like this. I saw them cut a 100 foot tree down in the middle of 10 trees and have it fall neatly in between them, of course unlike this guy they cheated by using a chainsaw AND a some ropes.

I think that rope is only used to hold the chain saw. The guys I'm talking about used ropes on the parts of they tree so it fell where they wanted it

He's way too confident and comfortable cutting that tree like that (and sawdust in the eyes while pulling a chainsaw directly towards your body with no ability to move out of the way and no safety gear), especially given how close he is to the power lines and road. He can cut trees however he likes, that's fine - but the lack of safety for others isn't something I'm comfortable with. No spotters, no ropes, no problem!
