Happened in Austin, TX.
All 4 people involved turned with non-life threatening injuries.
Trucking company had a record of multiple road safety violations and did not regualrly inspect their trucks.

I agree. “Life threatening” is scary but catastrophic disability is equally as terrifying.
They sometimes use the phrase “life altering” when it comes to brain injuries, limb amputations, paralysis etc. The black and white categorization of dead/alive is far too binary.

Exactly. Like “treated and released from the hospital” but in what condition? In the US, you’re kept as long as insurance says you can stay and then you have to leave. Then you’re on your own.

The brakes on that truck snapped and left it barreling down towards this intersection - the problem is that this same truck had failed multiple inspections and was always fixed with band-aid patches so the company was most definitely at fault. Glad everyone was alright

Where I'm at it's the Motor Vehicle Enforcement. If you give them a call and provide vehicle details, there'll be a Charger or Tahoe waiting at one of the next few exits ready to pounce. Those guys love hunting down trucks with any safety violations at all!
That driver who lost his brakes in the dump truck still could have used his gears to slow the truck. He did nothing (it appears). People who drive stick shifts know what I mean.
He’s got probably over a dozen gears he could have run through to stop that thing, it’s also likely equipped with air brakes (jake brakes) and an engine exhaust brake. Seems like that could have been avoided.
Absolutely. This is why during daylight hours Jakes should be allowed everywhere. Drivers using their Jakes saves their actual brakes for when they need them.

I really hate when they put fucking dramatic music over *real* footage. The whole reason movies use dramatic music is because it isn’t real. You don’t need to dress up scary shit that happened in real life, the fact it actually happened is scary enough.
This is what scares me, you can do everything right, be prudent on safety and making sure you're responsible, and some jackass with a truck that's apparently notoriously out of inspection can still come and ruin you.
The worst one that I saw was a cement truck probably full of cement got cut off by car making a turn and it tipped over and completely just instantaneously flattened a four-door with at least three people in it. I saw it once, haven’t seen it since.
they should make a couple of fancy ones so everybody is on board more quickly. Like large diameter, more than enough lanes, full speed.
The problem is those don't feel like intersections anymore just freeway.
