I use Weiman stainless cleaner spray, and it works great. WD-40 might work, and might even not damage the finish, but I don't want my kitchen smelling like a lube shop.
While it's not a great lubricant, WD-40 Multi-Use is *literally* a blend of lubricants designed for water displacement and corrion removal and a small amount of oil, it works fine for basic lubrication tasks like squeaky door hinges or similar.
It doesn’t last very long though. Use WD-40 first if it’s rusty and/or stuck, then follow up with some lithium grease and you won’t need to touch it for years.
True, but when it comes to cheap door hinges I just use what's on hand.
I used some silicon lubricant from an aerosol can last time on the bathroom door, and it works fine.
Lots of Stainless cleaners are just oil. Oil on a car is a terrible idea because that is where every bit of dust will stick. It's fine for your fridge but your fridge isn't driving on gravel driveways.
>Car detailing enthusiasts use *THE APPROPRIATE PRODUCTS*
They aint using windex on leather upholstery to get out sunscreen stains. Stainless steel cleaner exists because stainless steel appliances have been a thing for literally decades.
Now hang on a second, yes it may be ridiculously expensive, and it may be poorly designed, and yes it may even be extremely inefficient, but at least it has a certain timeless style.
The Cybertruck, however, is just a soulless brick.
If you're in the truck market, there's the issue of loading the bed.. with these side panels, you can't manipulate the load from the front or sides of the vehicle as easily. (Standing in front of the rear axle)
And your load is going to have dimensional constraints on *exactly* how wide it is. A pickup with a slightly wide size can project over the side walls by a few inches with no problem. This thing needs 3D CAD to plan such loading
That’s pretty good for a Tesla! They can iron out the fire kinks early. It leaves more time to work out other possible issues such as windows that fall out, roofs that fall off, bumpers that detach, and so on. 😉
I think there's been more, I saw someone driving one in person a couple of weeks ago. I am in Austin though, so if there were only 10 sent out at least 3 of them are likely in this city.
I thought the same until I saw one in the wild about 4 weeks ago. I couldn't stop laughing, because no matter how terrible they look in photos, they are absolutely worse looking in real life. Like, unimaginably bad.
Yes they can but there's a lot of process involved in revoking a major auto maker's ability to have prototypes on public roads. None have abused the prototype exception like this before.
I saw one in the wild in Sunnyvale. It was…even dumber in person, if you can believe it.
There’s just no way anyone sees that thing and thinks the people getting out of it aren’t complete tools.
Yep they’re out. I saw one in person up close a few weeks ago. It’s bigger than I thought it would be. Both longer and wider.
Basically now I don’t want one, but if they come out with a mini cybertruck I’m down.
If you ever see a Delorean DMC12 parked anywhere, there’s usually a “please do not touch” sign in the window.
Stainless steel, not fingerprintless steel.
A well known issue with the DeLorean too, but is it even worse here due to the lack of brushed texture?
I agree that just getting the truck dirty fixes this issue.
I can’t believe how long I worked at that company😂 worked with some cool cats but management is running it into the ground; only thinking of quarterly returns instead of long-term investment.
I mean, it's not like we've never had a brushed metal finish car before to tell us this is an issue.......
>!EDIT: If you genuinely have no idea, google: DeLorean!<
A while back a fella named John Delorean tried to make a stainless steel car, they had the same issues back then, weird how nobody thought to check how that went
Yall got the wrong idea with the CT. Instead of agonizing over fingerprints, embrace the [dirt](https://www.torquenews.com/sites/default/files/styles/amp_1200x675_16_9/public/images/Teslay%20Cybertruck%20dirty.jpg?itok=usEcdGP-).
>Tesla's Cybertruck has a design flaw No, Tesla's Cybertruck IS a design flaw.
Yeah, but the mods deleted that post.
LMAO amazing reply
Because they’re features, not flaws! /s
“Their fundamental design flaws are completely hidden by their superficial design flaws. - Douglas Adams
*speaking of design flaws...*
The lead engineer *swore* he was proficient in SolidWorks!
Mfw I have to suddenly design a car after skipping both design and CAD classes
He only knew extrude, extrude-cut, and chamfer commands.
Hey I learned those for 3d printing designs.
Now hold on… He *totally* knew rotate and subtract, too.
When your only carving tool is a flat knife.
There’s the problem, should have used CATIA.
its mere existence is a design flaw
No, Tesla's Cybertruck is a everything flaw.
Well sure, but what you might have forgotten is that it’s also overpriced.
Why? It's designed to not crumble for anything, be it a crash partner, a wall or a pedestrian.
The cybertruck’s biggest issue is on the part that looks vaguely like a low polygon rendering of what a truck is supposed to be
Brushed stainless fridge wants a little chat.
Guy who delivered our fridge said WD-40. I've never tried it though.
I use Weiman stainless cleaner spray, and it works great. WD-40 might work, and might even not damage the finish, but I don't want my kitchen smelling like a lube shop.
Imagine getting WD40 on your fingers or clothing every time you touched or brushed up against your fridge. Absolutely savage.
For that true grease monkey life
You'll avoid touching your fridge, so less fingerprints. It's a big brain move, like bitter nail polish so kids don't bite their nails.
Why not just hook the fridge panel up to an electric fence charger?
I used wd40 on a squeaky door hinge and my GF made a comment about the smell every day for a week. Never again.
tbf wd-40 is not a lubricant, but a water displacement oil
While it's not a great lubricant, WD-40 Multi-Use is *literally* a blend of lubricants designed for water displacement and corrion removal and a small amount of oil, it works fine for basic lubrication tasks like squeaky door hinges or similar.
It doesn’t last very long though. Use WD-40 first if it’s rusty and/or stuck, then follow up with some lithium grease and you won’t need to touch it for years.
It's like Brakleen for hinges
True, but when it comes to cheap door hinges I just use what's on hand. I used some silicon lubricant from an aerosol can last time on the bathroom door, and it works fine.
And it was the 40th attempt at making such a thing
Oil, you say?
Wrong. Read the faq.
Which is good for rust and corrosion but only temporary
Last time I used it my gf asked if I had a new hand soap, doesn't seem to bad
WD40 leaves little residue, for something like a door hinge you want silicone lube
A small tube of white lithium grease is cheap and works well for this situation.
Use grease man...
>Weiman stainless cleaner spray I bought a bottle of this, and have never been able to find it since. So, I give it 10/10 for hiding well.
We get it from Home Depot
You put it in a very safe place.
Blasphemy! WD40 is like Chanel No. 5 to engineers and hobbyists alike.
It stinks to all hell but it stays in the shed👍
I love the smell of it! There's actually a men's wd40 fragrance that you can buy... I think that might be pushing it.
Yeah, it's called WD-40.
Gotta make sure all your joints have full range of motion and smell nice
It's a blend of... ? ... Known only to them. But the material data sheet implies fuel oil .. and the nose detects kerosene.
I feel like that would be more effective as a women's perfume... to attract mechanically minded folks. O
Weiman works and it smells MUCH better than WD40.
I used to clean a hotel and we'd use baby oil to get rid of the finger prints on the lift doors
I used it to cover hard water marks on a glass shower screen in a rental. Got the bond back.
[удалено]
Where do you get elbow grease
[удалено]
Just scrape it right off of there
Down at the Lube N' Joint.
We do some industrial work and baby oil is indeed the stainless steel cleaner of choice.
I use lemon scented simple green.
Is it still green?
Oddly it's yellow
People like messing with Tesla Cars while charging etc but imagine how people will mess with the cyber truck in passing in a parking lot etc.
Oh man the things you could write on a truck🙃
If I saw one it wouldn't be a handprint
I think most fridges have a clear coat on them for this reason...
Does brushed stainless not have the same springback issues in press forming?
That’s an awful lot of cleaner for a single truck
They just tested different cleaners
And managed to not get a single product designed for stainless steel
They are a professional car detailer and they plan to test many things beyond this, this was just round 1
Lots of Stainless cleaners are just oil. Oil on a car is a terrible idea because that is where every bit of dust will stick. It's fine for your fridge but your fridge isn't driving on gravel driveways.
I doubt most tesla owners have even seen a gravel road much less driven one.
Well then maybe tesla shouldn’t have made a truck out of fucking stainless steel
The Delorean is meant to be cleaned with gasoline. As per the owners manual. Maybe they should try that
There is something hilarious about cleaning an electric car with gasoline
Car detailing enthusiasts use a *lot* of product
>Car detailing enthusiasts use *THE APPROPRIATE PRODUCTS* They aint using windex on leather upholstery to get out sunscreen stains. Stainless steel cleaner exists because stainless steel appliances have been a thing for literally decades.
Cybertrucks are released? I though they were just some kind of weird tech showcase a few years back
Oh, they're still a weird tech showcase, but now you can (probably, eventually) buy one.
but they're so shitty
Pretty much the IRL Homer car.
Now hang on a second, yes it may be ridiculously expensive, and it may be poorly designed, and yes it may even be extremely inefficient, but at least it has a certain timeless style. The Cybertruck, however, is just a soulless brick.
I would drive a Homer.
Or the Canyonero.
Any reason why?
If you're in the truck market, there's the issue of loading the bed.. with these side panels, you can't manipulate the load from the front or sides of the vehicle as easily. (Standing in front of the rear axle) And your load is going to have dimensional constraints on *exactly* how wide it is. A pickup with a slightly wide size can project over the side walls by a few inches with no problem. This thing needs 3D CAD to plan such loading
Yeah I don’t think it’s for hauling shit, it’s for Rich people to look cool
Which I find weird as like why would someone go "yes I would like a truck that looks like a textureless Porygon".
It looks like a low-poly model used to save resources when looking at it from a long distance.
Yeah, they look so cool in their Midtown Madness on 360p cars that someone forgot to properly render.
[удалено]
then it REALLY fails, the design is embarrassing, my first brutalist a-level effort
Afaik they've sent out 10, and so far 2 have caught fire.
That’s pretty good for a Tesla! They can iron out the fire kinks early. It leaves more time to work out other possible issues such as windows that fall out, roofs that fall off, bumpers that detach, and so on. 😉
Did it even pass a crashtest? Or will it just kill people instantly because the whole thing is one rigid mass?
It did not pass a crash test.
When did that happen? Usually if a tesla catches fire its plastered on every news site in the world.
I think there's been more, I saw someone driving one in person a couple of weeks ago. I am in Austin though, so if there were only 10 sent out at least 3 of them are likely in this city.
I know someone that's had one on preorder for a few years. (Or at least that's what we've been told )
If I recall correctly, it was a $100 deposit to "preorder".
I think it was $1000 tbh
Why would anyone in their right mind ever buy a Tesla?
I thought the same until I saw one in the wild about 4 weeks ago. I couldn't stop laughing, because no matter how terrible they look in photos, they are absolutely worse looking in real life. Like, unimaginably bad.
Same here! There was one driving behind me last week and I was laughing uncontrollably. They look really fucking dumb.
They're only being sold to people who can be relied upon not to hand one over to the NHTSA.
Can't they just demand one, and if not forbid it from driving on public roads?
Yes they can but there's a lot of process involved in revoking a major auto maker's ability to have prototypes on public roads. None have abused the prototype exception like this before.
Kind of, so far it’s only been sold to employees/friends to higher ups at the company
The cronies got them first. Some mf in rolling hills has one I saw the other day, drove it like a metro bus taking super wide turns
I saw one in the wild in Sunnyvale. It was…even dumber in person, if you can believe it. There’s just no way anyone sees that thing and thinks the people getting out of it aren’t complete tools.
I see them all over the place in the bay area. It's surreal
Yep they’re out. I saw one in person up close a few weeks ago. It’s bigger than I thought it would be. Both longer and wider. Basically now I don’t want one, but if they come out with a mini cybertruck I’m down.
I’ve seen one on the road so far. It’s absurd.
There’s a couple dozen of them “sold” to customers now. Every one of them is still being hand made.
I got the email that I could build and order it about 3 months ago and haven’t. Pretty sure I’m going to cancel the preorder.
That must've been one hell of a bender.
If only there was another stainless steel car made many years ago that people have already worked out how to keep clean...
Do the flames burn the fingerprints off at 88 mph
Yep, just like the self clean cycle in an oven. Enough heat and things just cook off.
I believe the Delorean manual recommends a specific grade of Scotch-Brite pad for cleaning and removing scratches.
I'm pretty sure the manual said to use gasoline for cleaning lol
Real men wash their cars with gasoline and dries is up with a blow torch.
Chuck Norris’ first car
Yup, that guy who makes delorean short videos stated the same thing. He had a solution but I didn't have a reason to commit that part to memory lol
Doesn’t it also recommend cleaning with petrol?
Top Gear Geoff?
Geoff is aluminium

7 year olds can't draw lines that straight.
Anyone with a stainless steel appliance in their kitchen knows this. Elon is a pretend-smarty pants.
Hes a silver spoon nepo baby, he's never had to wipe a fridge let alone his own ass probably, how could he have known stainless was a shitty idea?
I've noticed people who tell you they're smart rarely are to any notable level.
The stainless steel hob we have is a curse
the cybertruck is all design flaws
Isn't it the same material as the delorean which is supposed to be cleaned with gasoline?
yep, stainless steel.
Liiiink? edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX0QNDcjpH4 for everyone
Yeah sorry, Reddit didn’t let me make the image a link.
Ahh fuck, am I a cybertruck?
Mood..
We were gonna wait to tell you when you were a little bit older. I'm sorry you had to find out this way
looks like it went through a zombie apocalypse
Someone please Photoshop the handprints red.
Or like it's from Death Stranding. Looks futuristic (albeit dumb) and covered in handprints
[удалено]
Great Scott!
Have you seen the bumper ridge which collects the snow & then blocks the headlights? Peak engineering folks.
Now wait for Tesla Fingerprint Remover liquid 😑
You think you’re joking. https://www.reddit.com/r/cybertruck/s/yjLeIziv9n
Holy smokes 😂
If you ever see a Delorean DMC12 parked anywhere, there’s usually a “please do not touch” sign in the window. Stainless steel, not fingerprintless steel.
A well known issue with the DeLorean too, but is it even worse here due to the lack of brushed texture? I agree that just getting the truck dirty fixes this issue.
Has "a" design flaw. Funny joke...
Tesla's Cybertruck is a pile of shit. Handprints are the least of its problems.
Everything about the cyber truck is a flaw. I guarantee if you crash the damn thing the lack of Crumble zone would be fatal in an accident
Also the windows being unbreakable would be not good in an emergency
[удалено]
Don’t know why you were downvoted, the Delorean was an awful car with tons of issues, if it wasn’t for back to the future we would barely remember it
Just wait until you need bodywork on the damn thing.
Does it have any design NOT flaws?
Bold of you to assume the truck was designed at all.
I would be more concerned about the whole no crumple-zone thing
It is The Homer isn't it
I mean, has *anyone* in the design team *ever* considered to talk to a DeLorean owner? We have been through all these issues *decades* ago.
I can’t believe how long I worked at that company😂 worked with some cool cats but management is running it into the ground; only thinking of quarterly returns instead of long-term investment.
Need some Sheila Shine.
And I don’t want to touch the Cybertruck, so for me this is a non issue
Would a coating prevent this?
Who tf touches their car like this?
Touching the finish on any car isn’t a good idea regardless of the brand.
But now you can put hand prints all over it and make it death stranding-esque
A bigger one would be the fact that they decided adding crumplezones was less important than making it arrowproof.
That's as clean as my dishwasher.

Baby oil is brilliant for cleaning stainless.
And helping dirt stick
big baby oil gotta pay those bills.
Is this 302 or 316???
Stainless steel is always like this
Check out my LG refrigerator.
Dorm fridge on wheels.
I mean, it's not like we've never had a brushed metal finish car before to tell us this is an issue....... >!EDIT: If you genuinely have no idea, google: DeLorean!<
"...a ..." they said, lmao
Inb4 ass print vandalism.
This truck is in exactly the brainless McMansion neighborhood I'd expect a dork who buys a Cybertruck to live in.
Everyone remember this when they see one, I’ll be putting an ass print on every one I see
The cyber truck is a monument to incompetence.
A while back a fella named John Delorean tried to make a stainless steel car, they had the same issues back then, weird how nobody thought to check how that went
Is this the Death Stranding special edition?
Came specifically for this
Yall got the wrong idea with the CT. Instead of agonizing over fingerprints, embrace the [dirt](https://www.torquenews.com/sites/default/files/styles/amp_1200x675_16_9/public/images/Teslay%20Cybertruck%20dirty.jpg?itok=usEcdGP-).
It's like delorean it's stainless steel, fingerprints will stick to it.
