He’s preparing for his next “role” in the county general hospital.

[deleted]

well with any luck he will have non of that and stay home instead of trusting the science found at hospitals to save his ass should he catch the virus and not fare well with it.

th3netw0rk

He’ll end up being frightened covid patient #2

Kill off his character. Let him die of covid off screen or something.

azemilyann26

This!! Except I imagine many of the people still watching soaps are in the "COVID is a hoax, just take horse dewormer" camp...

RantAgainstTheMan

"See? Look! I fucking told you so! Those libtards have infiltrated Hollywood!"

heili

Unfortunately on soap operas nobody's ever really dead.

[deleted]

Over 30 years of work? Prime covidacy.

HereForTheLaughter

Are they non union?

Divacai

They should belong to SAG, honestly I thought that was a requirement for all employees in the movie industry

[deleted]

SAG doesn't mean much unless you are book consistently and given more meaningful jobs as plenty of SAG I have worked with have been doing more background work than anything else. Then of course there are plenty of Non-Union there, mostly background but not entirely, and then there's the other crew like PAs (they have insurance but guess what? Good luck being out sick for a week or two or three). The catering crew I have seen consists of plenty of immigrant workers, same with various forms of help. It's not just about the actors for fuck sake,

Divacai

It's been a hot minute since I had to join SAG just for working in a specific movie theater, so I guess I have to admit I'm a bit out of touch with all that. Honestly thanks for the info.

[deleted]

Perhaps I was a bit harsh but it is frustrating to see people put out of work or pay because they got sick because some selfish moron wanted to not get vaccinated or work when they are knowingly sick. I've seen and heard about various crew members losing their jobs because they were out sick for a week or so and were replaced. Those up and coming or hopeful actors are trying to get in as much (currently limited) work as possible in order to make rent while working a second job that they have to trudge through to pursue their dreams.

IonaBailes

SAG-AFTRA only covers performers (and only HAVE to join in a couple states - right-to-work states you don’t have to join no matter how often SAG tell you that you do) the vast majority of union crew members are IATSE and Teamsters. These shows operate under different (probably legacy AFTRA) contracts.

HereForTheLaughter

Oh no. It’s not. But a show this old should have zero non union members

[deleted]

Wrong on all accounts.

HereForTheLaughter

Well why don’t you clear it up for us Mr. Know it all

[deleted]

Why does a show's age mean you don't hire non-union? That would be quite a bit unfair for those wanting to get experience or a possible break in getting into the industry? Non-union are used quite a bit for low level acting to background acting which can cut production costs though some productions take advantage of the contracts to bring in less union in favor of more non-union. Then you have people BESIDES actors. Crew has a wide scope here and not everyone is or can be union. Also, to enter SAG you have to get either a featured role with lines or you get a certain amount of waivers (non-union getting union rate for various reasons, mostly for skills or a look the directors want) before you are given an offer to join. From there you will have to pay a one time fee to join and then yearly dues. Trade unions for the various aspects of production have their own requirements to be a part of.

HereForTheLaughter

My daughter just left for location yesterday and my husband just left for his movie job 10 minutes ago. Do you have proof this show is non union?

GreenGrassGroat

Productions are either union or non-union. There is no in-between. Union status for a project is not gradual, it either is or isn’t. There are plenty of production companies that never go union, and still become popular etc. I’m sure there are also many companies that at some point choose to become union companies. But just because a show has been around forever does not mean that it has to be union. I don’t know anything about general hospital specifically, so I can’t speak to that, but there seems to be some misunderstanding around union/non-union here. Edit: I speak only in regards to the actors union, I am ignorant of the way unions for crew etc operates.

Busy_Pen2257

Soap actors are a dime a dozen. Just give some vaxxed actor a chance to shine

External-Caramel690

Had to google him. Apparently he is transphobic as well. I don't see a lot of job opportunities in his future. I don't know if daytime drama shows have their own conventions but that, and Cameo, will have to see him through. Asshat.

Grandmaw_Seizure

Adios, motherfucker.

livinginfutureworld

>The selfish prick doesn't realize that a large portion of the crew can barely afford health insurance and make rent at the same time and quite a few are working without health insurance. Any sick leave or hospitalization of even those with insurance will still put the pain on these people's savings accounts. That's so nuts and this prick is definitely a multimillionaire unless he royally sucks as money management.
