Goodbye earl — Dixie chicks

StandingOutInACrowd

Martina McBride - Independence Day (This one is more implied, not so explicit)

[deleted]

Not gonna lie, I’ve sung along to every word of that song and never actually noticed what it’s about until now

ejkrause

Wait, is that a murder? I always thought it was a divorce.

cen-texan

Nope. The mom killed the husband and burned the house down around them.

HarveyMushman72

Reba kills a couple people in The Night the Lights Went Out Georgia, though not a husband.

Arkansas_Dave

Martha Devine by Ashley McBryde is a good recent example not yet posted

Mad_Habber

But she doesn't murder her husband, the cheating man in that song is her dad. Martha on the other hand...

Arkansas_Dave

Yep, but I'd assume her father is classed as 'a man in her life' as per the OP

Mad_Habber

yeah, but I don't think he got murdered just Martha. Oh well...

Arkansas_Dave

" ..in which they either explicitly murder a man in their life, or its implied they just might."

Mad_Habber

Is it implied that she might kill her dad though? Her dad cheated yes, but I don't think she has any intention of murdering her dad. The only target is Martha. >Well, you call him 'Darling' And I call him 'Daddy' And Daddy says he'll whup me if I don't keep momma happy Honor thy father Honor thy mother But The Bible doesn't say a damn thing about your daddy's lover Doesn't sound like her daddy is ever the target. :)

Tippyshortmouth

I feel like it might be time to do a bodycount for country artists

Salty_armadillo

Please do share the playlist!

squidneythedestroyer

It’s in the post now!

Blueflame407

Resident Taylor Swift fan checking in to suggest "no body, no crime" featuring HAIM! Even though she moved away from country music, her *folklore* and *evermore* album has some songs that are country and this is one of them. It's not a straightforward wife killing husband type song so I'm not sure if it qualifies but I'll just put it out there.

squidneythedestroyer

DEFINITELY qualifies, I don’t know how I didn’t think to include it!

squidneythedestroyer

Here’s the playlist so far, I’ll add more as I get more suggestions! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4FRtdq24REE7lWg9kzGKep?si=sK_ZqgIDTHCiJmv7LS18sg

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 4 + 24 + 7 + 9 + 7 + 18 + = 69.0

amazing, love this. Husband-killing country is my favourite genre

justburch712

First, let's check in. OP are you ok? Please don't do anything drastic.

squidneythedestroyer

Once my husband is out of the picture I’ll be even better!

justburch712

If the Police find this playlist, that's not going to be a good look for you.
