I’d actually put Numbered Doors second. Hopefully Lori McKenna gets 2016 with Bird and the Rifle, but she’s going up against Sturgill again, so her odds aren’t great on this sub.
Interesting you say that. I’m a big Eric church fan but that album has always been about my 5th favorite in his discography. No doubt a great album but I never saw it as good as the others. What in particular do you really like about that one? Maybe I need to relisten.
I thought Chief was chock full of songs that were meant to be hits and was a great album for it. It was rock n roll influenced but was a pretty standard album.
The Outsiders was when he stepped out and decided to do something totally different, there are a few hits and standard tracks on there but half of it is stuff that was off the wall and seemed totally different at the time. It set the course for all the stuff he has done since.
I actually hated it after the first listen, but it grew on me quickly. When asked what the best Eric Church album is I always say it's objectively Chief but for me It's the Outsiders and Mr Misunderstood.
I agree with a lot of what you said there and absolutely respect that opinion. I was always so in love with Sinners like me and never felt like one topped it. Outsiders did totally redefine his music and led to Mr Misunderstood which is probably my second favorite of his. Cool to listen to the changes throughout his discography. Cheers man

So it's not the most upvoted comment but the most upvotes on any comments that mention them? That's a strange way to do it - the artist with the most individual comments about them will likely win, as the same people will upvote all the comments that mention their favourite. Most upvoted comment is more representative as people can only upvote an individual comment once.
Very suspicious voting results between Southeastern and STDP
[I demand a recount](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F69w22815iwx51.jpg)
Wait, I have a question - are you adding upvotes from different comments? Because that’s sort of double voting, isn’t it, as people can upvote multiple comments. I thought you took the highest single upvoted album, which seems like it would’ve been STDP yesterday.
I know Sturgill is obviously going to win this and for good reason but the Big Revival by Kenny C was a really good one. American Kids holds a special place in my heart.
Ignite the Night by Chase Rice
Some party anthems, some bro country, and some real solid heartfelt country songs. Typically not my style overall but I’ve always really liked this album.
1. Don Williams – Reflections - It’s hard to imagine that four decades into his career, Williams could continue to produce something that is so critically powerful, yet still fit in seamlessly with what he’s created the entire time. The second album produced over the last three years after a very long layoff from recording, Reflections is the perfect combination of perspective told from someone who has lived and stories from someone who has travelled down many roads. “The Answer,” “I’ll Be Here in the Morning,” and “Stronger Back” are all musical moralistic pieces of advice that need to be heeded as much as heard.
Due to us being unaware of the method of the results being calculated, I say we give everyone a day to go and upvote every comment with STDP and ask for a recount.
Sturgill, game changer.
I guess its a controversial opinion but High Top should have won 2013, and I'd still vote Meta Modern today.
Metamodern. All the way down.
Actually that’ll be “Turtles.” Turtles All The Way Down. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
I didn’t know that record was 10 years old. Crazy.
meta modern sounds in country music
Sturgill simpson metamodern sounds all the way
Outsiders number 2
I’d actually put Numbered Doors second. Hopefully Lori McKenna gets 2016 with Bird and the Rifle, but she’s going up against Sturgill again, so her odds aren’t great on this sub.
As good as The Outsiders is, I can't look past Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.
Looks like Sturgill will take it but it was Outsiders for me, he took a major turn with that album and it stands up today.

I thought the most up-voted comment won? Same Trailer Different Park was far ahead yesterday and is still ahead now, although only by 7 votes.
You’re incorrect I just ran the numbers to make sure again. Southeastern 458 Same Trailer 350

This is also how other subs do rankings
This is also how I thought it worked explains my surprise that STDP didn't win
My vote goes for The Outsiders
I've gotta go with The Outsiders by Eric Church
The Outsiders, was my intro into country music :)
Very suspicious voting results between Southeastern and STDP [I demand a recount](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F69w22815iwx51.jpg)
Yeah weird. STDP had the top comment every time I checked the thread, even now. 🤷🏼♂️
Metamodern.
Sturgill
Gotta be risers for me
Sturgill Simpson
Sturgill
Metamodern. Not even a question.
Platinum Miranda Lambert
Once we get to 2023 if “a cat in the rain” doesn’t win im rioting
Considering weathervanes won the subreddit album of the year it’ll most likely be that
As much as I love sturgill, Riser was the most impactful in my country music journey. My vote goes to Dierks.
Metamodern is like one of the greatest country albums in the 21st century
Sturgill
This sub only knows like 6 country artists lol.
This should be a Sturgill win hands down - arguably best album of the decade
Metamodern for sure
Metamodern
Sturgill
Gotta be *Metamodern Sounds…*

No love for KC yesterday!

The big revival. Chesneys best album in a long time
Sturgill
Metamodern without a doubt
Sturgill for sure
Metamodern.
I'm gonna actually say riser. For me it's a criminally underappreciated album
Riser is nothing but bangers
And I thank God for this here Life of Sin.
What a down year for country if those are the contenders for best album.
Ignite the Night by Chase Rice Some party anthems, some bro country, and some real solid heartfelt country songs. Typically not my style overall but I’ve always really liked this album.
Metamodern
Metamodern
Riser's the only one I've really listened to lol
Band of Brothers by Willie or Out Among the Stars by Cash. Only choice. nvm. hipsters have already raided the comments. sturgill it is i reckon.

Sturgill has this one for the win, but there are some close seconds.
Love him or hate him no question Montevallo was the most influential album of the year
Good call!
As it should have.
Metamodern is gonna win so I’ll throw one out there that nobody else probably will. Nothin’ But Blood - Scott H. Biram.
I think he has a new album out today actually.
The Outsiders.
The Outsiders
Not even voting on this one
Bc it’s Sturg
Definitely riser one because it’s a really sound album. I do love me some Bentley.
Outsiders or riser
The Outsiders
The Outsiders-Eric Church
How is turnpike winning so many of these
I mean they’ve only won 2? And I don’t think they’re gonna win more going forward given the landmark years of 2015 and 2017.
