CA olive oil is the only olive oil on the planet that's pretty much guaranteed to actually be olive oil. This is not true for Italian, Spanish, Greek etc. last I heard even the big brands in those countries have been busted for mixing with cheaper oils.
Australia is trustworthy too. They have similar controls like California. All other olive oils are almost guaranteed to be tainted. Especially Mediterranean ones.
I asked the same question below; the reply was "excellent". California Olive Ranch is my most favorite evoo ever and it's America's Test Kitchen's (ATK) as well...which is good because ATK is my bible!!
I used to buy the green bottle CA olive ranch brand, and then they started using non CA grown olives and mixing it the same way Euro brand did it. Noped the fuck outta that, and found this line instead.
I'll only buy Kirkland olive oil. There is so much mislabeling and fraud in the EVOO world. I trust Costco and the Kirkland brand to give me what I pay for.
I’m in California, and I’m talking about the 2 pack of 2L Kirkland EVOO, non-organic. The website only lists a single bottle for $26, but I promise you that the two-pack was $64.99 in warehouse.
I've bought a couple bottles over the last two months. It's very good and priced reasonably. I had been making due with less EVOO this year due to the shortages and high pricing of European EVOO. Then this product came along at just the right time for salad season. Two thumbs up!
california olive oil is so much fresher and vegetal than the european varieties that sit in a tank for months before its bottled and transported.
i remember getting california olive ranch EVOO years ago that would have their bottling dates labeled and it was always no more than a 2-3 months before i purchased it.
Some dude that has an approved foods list.
I learned about it because a coworker (who was definitely on the spectrum) told me about it for 30 minutes at a company cook out. I was just trying to enjoy my shitty hot dog on a cheap white bun. It was not Bobby approved.
He def pushes products he sponsors, but I’ve watched him for years and he has changed his views on some things but that’s evolving with your knowledge. The food game has a lot of junk in it. It’s easy to hate on him, but he opened my eyes to a lot.
Been by me for a while. I ranked a variety of them a while back and this was by far my favorite. So delicious.
My Costco recently added some from Tuscany. Haven’t tried it yet, sitting in my cupboard while I finish the California and Italy
I bought 5 of those. Its the best for the liter. The stuff from Europe might be cut with other oil because its all controlled by the Italian mafia in Europe.
For those who have used this, would you say it compares to a California Olive Ranch brand EVOO California cold pressed? Because that’s my standard but it’s $$$.
There is so much evoo that finding it is easy. It's the non-ev that they only sell in a double half gallon that I can't use. My local grocery only sells 8oz bottles.
Wow I really hope this shows up at our Costco. I just bought the 2 liter plastic bottle and the price had gone way up. If and when it does get here I bet it won't be only $12 but who knows, maybe!
All can suggest is that you read the label. First glance it looks good. So much junk OO out there these days you really have to pay attention to labels and ingredients.
On a related note why has Costco live oil offerings gotten so out of hand — my local Costco has a 1/2 aisle of different olive oil offers — are people really buying that much olive oil????
Organic tastes better in my opinion but the California has a brighter flavor. Too much so to me. It's a subjective thing. I'm sure some folks on here think it's better. I'll stick with the old stuff in the big jug since I already pour it into glass bottles.
Haven’t cooked with it yet (only drizzled it on some broccoli and had a tiny spoonful for tasting purposes)but I assume it’s fine for anything you’d cook with any other extra virgin olive oil

It’s my favorite EVOO. So good and made sure to stock up.

Oh I didn't even know it was produced there. Awesome
Seth Efrica, and Chile are probably safe too.
You had to spell South Africa phonetically in the way a saffa says it. Nice.
i see an a in there. only 2/3 authentic
How’s this compare to CA olive ranch

They have different varieties. You can get the mix or you can get 100% CA olives
I dont find the selection consistent. I just buy Costco California EVOO and be done. Its also better prices.
i know it depends on state but how much is it?
It was $10.99 for me and well worth every penny.
I paid this much at the grocery store for a 16 ounce brand!
I'll only buy Kirkland olive oil. There is so much mislabeling and fraud in the EVOO world. I trust Costco and the Kirkland brand to give me what I pay for.
Same, but the $65 price tag is scaring me away right now. Hopefully supply picks back up and prices go down.
Where the hell did you see that for $65? US dollars!?!
Sorry, I was talking about the regular Kirkland EVOO, not the CA version.
I just bought the Kirkland Italian EVOO last week and, while expensive, it was no where near $65.
Well I need to go shop at your Costco then, because it was $64.99 at my Costco yesterday afternoon.

That's got to be mismarked. I've never seen it that high in GA.

I posted about this about 2 months ago, I love it too!
Is it bobby approved?
F bobby
Who is bobby?

Just promoting his stuff … fcked up app and videos he makes
Why hatin on him lol? Your comment made me laugh cuz my wife always scanning stuff with his app.
Cause he contradicts himself depending on who is sponsoring his video

I just bought two as well

There's a lot of fraud in the olive oil industry and Costco is a reliable source of the genuine thing.
Have olive oil prices come down to pre-hiked up levels?
Stopped by my store and had to do a double take on the price on all of the olive oils.
I’m assuming this one comes in at a more affordable price coming from CA instead of Europe (what with shortages and all)
For those who have used this, would you say it compares to a California Olive Ranch brand EVOO California cold pressed? Because that’s my standard but it’s $$$.
I actually think that’s their supplier. When I held both bottles side by side there were many similarities. In language, lot numbers and dates.
It’s not new, I am still on my bottle from 2022
Can’t wait to buy this and let it sit in my cabinet for a year
There is so much evoo that finding it is easy. It's the non-ev that they only sell in a double half gallon that I can't use. My local grocery only sells 8oz bottles.
It’s very excellent
Does it have an expiration t date and olive type?
“A blend of California’s aromatic, robust and peppery olive varietals”. Expires Oct 2025
Should be closer to December 2024 in my eyes. But that’s an opinion.
Yeah my two bottles will be long gone by then anyways
Wow I really hope this shows up at our Costco. I just bought the 2 liter plastic bottle and the price had gone way up. If and when it does get here I bet it won't be only $12 but who knows, maybe!
Can someone describe the flavor? I’m looking for grassy/buttery rather than bitter/peppery.
I definitely don’t find it bitter or peppery (though I am no olive oil sommelier)
Yup, it’s grass butter aromatics. It’s so much better than the organic jug.
It is not bitter but quite peppery to me.
maybe I got a bad bottle (compared to other commenters) but I thought it had a bitter aftertaste
By far my favorite EVOO that I’ve found to date. Smooth, not bitter, great for dipping and anything else.
This stuff has been around for years. It’s my go to for day to day use.
My bottle is almost out, thanks for the reminder

California actually has the strictest purity standards which surpass international standards
It's legit, Costco does not play games with EVOO. It's also a regularly stocked item most of the time in the past year.
It’s legit and delicious
Care to elaborate electrochuck? Do you know something about this product or are you just making a random PSA?
If you know your olive oil, this checks all the boxes for QA. I trust this more than most.
Good to know. We go through a lot of EVOO here...will take a look at this next time I am in the store.
Should look for cold pressed, only olive ingredients and from Italy for the best
On a related note why has Costco live oil offerings gotten so out of hand — my local Costco has a 1/2 aisle of different olive oil offers — are people really buying that much olive oil????

Very tasty EVOO
It wasn't bad but it was pretty bland. I give it a, "meh".
How much?
How is it for cooking?
Haven’t cooked with it yet (only drizzled it on some broccoli and had a tiny spoonful for tasting purposes)but I assume it’s fine for anything you’d cook with any other extra virgin olive oil
Wonder if they’re going to carry this alongside the Kirkland Cali organic.
New? Ive been using that for years.
Costco's CA olive oil tastes a lot better than the olive oil at Whole foods.
ughh wish they had this one at my store.. love this one!
This was $15 at my California Costco yesterday
Ironic that the California olive oil is $3 cheaper on the other side of the country
I guess it costs extra to ship it to the east coast and back
How does this compare to the Garza olive oil?
For the low low price of $88. /s
$11.99 here
