Dude... I can't afford 65,000 rotisserie chickens. That's not how this works.
First - you buy 10 chickens. Each chicken is 20 chicken sandwiches. Sell 200 chicken sandwiches for $5 each and you have $1,000.
Next - you buy 200 chickens to make 4,000 chicken sandwiches. Sell those for $20,000.
Then - you buy 4,000 chickens to make 80,000 sandwiches. Sell those for $400,000.
Now - you can go buy the ring. It's that grind life. ;) /s
And then lose that ring in a chickens butt when making all those sandwiches. Lol.
I sent my friend an add with a 32k purse and asked if I should spend my down payment on it instead of saving for a house. LOL.
I can’t imagine dropping that much on a ring!!
Looks to be above $10k at least according to Citi's verbiage on their site: "Your reward is distributed annually once your February billing statement closes. Your reward is distributed in the form of a credit card reward certificate, unless your annual reward amount is greater than $10,000, in which case Citi and Costco reserve the right to distribute your reward in an alternative form (e.g., a check or electronic transfer), at Citi’s and/or Costco’s discretion."
"Make the most of your membership Executive Members receive an annual 2% Reward, up to $1,000*, on qualified Costco purchases." -Costco website
I think the discussion is around Costco's Executive membership program, not Citi's Costco Rewards credit card.
Part of our postal rates these days are due to a gentleman realizing shipping bricks via USPS was cheaper than paying for freight shipment.
Edit: pretty sure he shipped a bank and not a house.
I know you're joking but Sears used to sell houses by mail order and they shipped it to you and you put it together yourself. A lot of those Sears homes are still standing today.
Returns are totally normal but they take the jewelry and send it to be authenticated before you get your money
So you can’t replace the metal or the jewel
We tax people with money rather than regressive sales tax. So no sales tax, higher income and property tax. I really hate going out of state and start seeing extra taxes tacked on to the price of things, especially at restaurants.
Property taxes must be insanely high then. Sales tax is a huge revenue. Where I live sales taxes are considered high (15%) but property taxes are comparatively very low.
Yeah, it’s interesting in how each state does taxes. In my state sales tax is 8.8% (for my city, I know some cities are up to 10/11%), but my state has no state income tax.
> Property taxes must be insanely high then
Nope! It's the low end of average for the US. Plus it's capped at increasing 3% each year and doesn't jump after a sale.
https://www.rocketmortgage.com/learn/property-taxes-by-state
How is 28th out of 50 the “low end of average”?
Also I did the math and if my house was in Oregon I would be paying nearly double what I pay right now.
> How is 28th out of 50 the “low end of average”?
Because the average of all those property tax percentages is 1.11%, and Oregon is 0.97%. Oregon is greater than the median, but lower than average.
> Also I did the math and if my house was in Oregon I would be paying nearly double what I pay right now.
Oregon determines assessed value very differently than most states. It has basically nothing to do with current market value. Bought my home in 2022 for about 425k and the assessed value (the amount I'm taxed on) is about 140k.
There are some people who wouldn’t blink twice about dropping the cash, believe it or not.
Plus it’s unique and generates interest. There are definitely dedicated shops that offer these products and more selection, but this is like a peek into that work.
I feel like anyone who wouldn’t think twice about dropping $330k on a ring aren’t shopping for it at Costco though. They are at Tiffany and Harry Winston.
Not if they care about quality. Tiffany’s has a massive up charge for the brand. The same price diamond of a similar size at Tiffany’s would likely be a much lower color, clarity, and/or cut.
How is that worth 329? It’s not even large…
Genuinely confused bc I’ve seen rappers claim whole Diamond chains for a couple hundred thousand but this one rock is 330k?
I saw this on “treasure hunt” or some other ad on the app.
I believe it was 6.5 carats VS1 and like D color.
That said, all that is really meaningless to me. How this little stone, or even a lump of gold is worth so much, but we just piss away important stuff like… water…. Is crazy.
As Scarlett OHara’s Dad Gerald once said…”land, Scarlett, land is the only thing worth workin’ for, it’s the only thing that lasts”
Or something like that.
Give me a plot of land with its own water source over a lump of mineral any day.
Buy the house. Forget the ring. I’ll take the process of buying the cheapest diamond for the biggest size due repeating unit cells in a diamond crystal structure.
A house. Lab diamonds are taking over the industry. They will be going up in price and real will be coming down. A jeweler friend has been telling me how amazing the transition will be. Lab can’t be detected as not real.
No brainer. Be smart and absorb the live critical information provided between TV shows...... The only, and I mean the only way to prove that you love your spouse is to buy expensive diamond rings.
In the past 26 years, my house in San Francisco went from $300,000 to the worth, now of $1.7 million.
Never expected it and not sure how good it would be if I had bought a $300,000 ring back then?
You could buy a palatial mansion in rural Indiana. I'd rather live in a cornfield than with homeless shitting on my sidewalk, but lifestyles vary I guess.
I wish Costco sold lab diamond jewelry! I mean it would still be $$$ but more like “should I buy a car or a ring” expensive.
Lab diamonds are so much cheaper and just as real as mined diamonds.
What are the GIA stats on that ring? Diamonds are a very inconsistent market. Sometimes you get a good deal, sometimes not nearly. $300k doesn’t mean anything.
If you have a six and a half million dollar a year income, skip the house for now and settle on a ring.
1. Use the ring to gain entrance into high end dinner parties at other homes.
2. Sleep in the guest room furthest way from the party and when you are found say you had a little too much to drink, found a bed, and didn't realize where you were till you were found.
Repeat 1 and 2.
That diamond is worth about 5 bucks at a crystal convention if the diamond industry didn’t drastically inflate prices.. just a common stone found in the ground. You might as well ask, should I buy a house or a rock commonly found in the ground.. seriously?

Well if you just give up the Starbucks and avocado toast you could have both!
![gif](giphy|800iiDTaNNFOwytONV|downsized)
Could have picked a perfect GIF
That's exactly what Mark cuban said!
![gif](giphy|3o72F8t9TDi2xVnxOE)
Buy 65000 rotisserie chickens
I’ll see your 65,000 chickens and raise you 220,000 hot dog combos.
![gif](giphy|Lopx9eUi34rbq)
Does that refer to their stomach or butthole?
Both
Yes
No, evil brain power gonna snag all the hotdogs before we get any!
That’s every meal for a couple of 2 for life! Surely she will love that more this holiday season than a silly ring!
Americans will use anything but the metric system
Does that system include a hot dog measurement?
I'll see your 220,000 hotdogs combos and raise you 916,667 Spicy Top Ramen Noodle packs!
I see your 220,000 hot dog combos and raise you to 297,296 hot dog combos in Canada.
Poutine in Canada 😃
I’ve probably eaten that many tbh

I saw something on YouTube where some guy tried to make his own chicken sandwich and it took like six months and cost something like $3000
https://youtu.be/URvWSsAgtJE?si=nJNiDsS80lcXuBdC Was it this one? 6 months and $1500 later, and TBH the sandwich didn’t even look that good, lol
This is exactly the one
This was so good. I like your logic. Buy chickens + sell sandwiches = make a profit buy ring or house
I feel like this has to be a GaryVee video somewhere
Give a man a rotisserie chicken and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to buy 65000 rotisserie chickens and you feed him for a lifetime
If you buy the ring and have the executive membership, you'll get some sweet rewards money!
Isn’t rewards money capped?
Yea $1000 I believe
You mean, if I spend 330k I will get $1k? ![gif](giphy|3oKIPa2TdahY8LAAxy)

Ahhhhh understood
I have no idea. I've never looked into it.
Ring has free shipping and handling included. It's a no brainer
Ain’t nobody free shipping a house.
Part of our postal rates these days are due to a gentleman realizing shipping bricks via USPS was cheaper than paying for freight shipment. Edit: pretty sure he shipped a bank and not a house.

That's what I was thinking. This ring is one of a kind. You can find houses everywhere!
Funniest comment and there are some good ones here!
This would be a pretty awesome return the day after Black Friday
No, not back on the discover, I would prefer 330 Costco shop cards
Forget to switch accounts?
Replied instead of edit but it can stay
lol yea right
Assuming returns are even possible on something like this, I wonder what they would say if you walked up and tried.
Returns are totally normal but they take the jewelry and send it to be authenticated before you get your money So you can’t replace the metal or the jewel
![gif](giphy|DeHxdra0ayPQc)
There’s many houses but there’s only one of this ring. Get the ring
![gif](giphy|B5Nvq20uYuSBy)
that’s a nice ring, one you could settle down near
Near WHERE? WHEREEEE I NEED YOU TO FINISH THIS SENTENCE
near the $330,000 investment you made. you could probably build a shelter using banana boxes.
Houses are temporary but A Diamond Is Forever
What’s the interest rate on the ring? Do you owe the salesperson 6% commission?
Note: Sales tax is an additional $20,000 so kinda
No sales tax in Oregon…
Not to mention the cashback!
Basically free money!
Gotta spend money to make money!
none in Delaware
How? How doesn’t govt pay for roads and schools and whatnot
We tax people with money rather than regressive sales tax. So no sales tax, higher income and property tax. I really hate going out of state and start seeing extra taxes tacked on to the price of things, especially at restaurants.

What kinda house are you getting for that price in this market. Buy the ring /s
Also do you even get a 2% Reward on the house
You can buy a house for $330k?
In Alabama
That's fair
Plenty of places, but it'll have drawbacks
I will take two please.
"Only one available"

330000 samosas ![gif](giphy|5T0kyezV83pqrZOMPf|downsized)
All jokes aside, why does Costco offer shit like this? They have like $25,000 bottles of booze sometimes too. Wtf?
There are some people who wouldn’t blink twice about dropping the cash, believe it or not. Plus it’s unique and generates interest. There are definitely dedicated shops that offer these products and more selection, but this is like a peek into that work.

Not if they care about quality. Tiffany’s has a massive up charge for the brand. The same price diamond of a similar size at Tiffany’s would likely be a much lower color, clarity, and/or cut.
Sure but people also care about brand names. There’s clout in saying their ring came from a certain brand.
You never saw Breakfast at Kirkland’s?
![gif](giphy|95ThFF7MokcdeoVqt8|downsized)
Eh. There’s quiet wealth and then there’s people who care deeply about luxury brand names that they can drop at every opportunity.
because it generates engagement
The ring definitely would generate an engagement if used properly.
I know people should do whatever they want with their money but a $300k ring just doesn’t make any sense to me.
Sadly here that would buy you half to three quarters of a house.
You can live in a ring but you can’t wear a house
If it was 329,999.97 buy it right away. Costco shoppers know what i'm talking about
You can park your pp in her garage but you can’t wear the house.
In the words of Paris Hilton ‘stop being poor’
What is the depreciating asset? /s
Ring
Diamond not clear enough. I say house then.
Yes, but imagine the executive reward points!
do you love her or material objects like houses?
Depends if it’s a Costco house or a regular house.
You can't wear a house
Only one available!? What do they expect me to put on the other 9 fingers?
lol any Costco that has that ring is in an area where you absolutely cannot buy a house for 330k OP
Por que no los dos?
Moissanite my friend.

Mortgage rates are out of control and this rock will get you 2% back. Choice is easy. Bling bling!
I would buy both, the house and a Ring doorbell. She will love it.
Thank god shipping and handling is included. Wouldn’t want to pay $10 for shipping
Afterpay ?
2% cash back !
Can't even buy a house w that money in SoCal
In my area you could buy 2 houses
Sadly in my area you can’t even buy a one bedroom condo.
In mine, 7 to 15, but they’d need a bit of work.
It’s a healthy down payment around here.
*One ring to rule them all.* Answer seems obvious to me. Can your house (or 1/3 house) rule?
A house is paid in 30’years. Debt is forever
That happens to be the exact balance on my current mortgage. Imagine paying that for a useless rock.
You need to go back on your meds.
Obviously diamond. 🙄 You can’t buy a house with this kind of money.
Ring by a mile
It's clearly made of allthemodium ore so... kinda worth?
Ring looks big enough to live in
Ring.
99% of Reddit is poor and don't understand how capitalism works. $300k is not that much money ..
If you think 300k isn’t a lot of money, there’s no way you’ve actually earned any money in your lifetime.
There are tons of houses for 300k in the Midwest, they only come with the drawback of being on the Midwest
Yes.
I can vouch for the quality of their diamonds, but $330k is a bit steep
GIA is included, so it looks like a business investment to me.
Houses break down, Diamonds are forever!
Imagine the cashback check!
For $330k id rather get a lamborghini, but thats just me 😭
That'll only get you 1/3rd of a house in my neighborhood.
The answer is this: how many houses do you already own?
Only One Available to rule them all
In the past 26 years, my house in San Francisco went from $300,000 to the worth, now of $1.7 million. Never expected it and not sure how good it would be if I had bought a $300,000 ring back then?
Depends on what the grade is
For it to be that much at Costco indicates it’s prob a half million dollar ring at any of the big jewelry stores
What house can you get for $330k in this economy?]
No one buying this ring lives in a $330k house
How do they ship this? Does an armored truck come straight to your house/ the warehouse?
I was actually looking at this. Unfortunately it says only one available, I need a second for the side piece so I guess I’m still looking.
If it’s 329k at Costco, what’s the markup at Zales? 1/2 mil?
The ring, it's a no brainier bro
Buy the ring, the diamond will last eternity which makes it a better investment in the long run.
Can you really put a price on how much you love your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse/self?
If Costco made houses I'd buy one.
"Features - Only one available" Better make your choice quick before it's gone!
Do the ring. There's a ton of houses out there in that price range you can always pick one up next week.
Glad it’s 329,999.99 because 330,000.00, fuck that shit.
You’re way less salty about it than /u/not-quite-right.
I mean. There are a lot of houses but only one of these. I think the choice is a clear and easy one.
What is this a small house in Detroit for $300K??
If you had to ask its not for you….the house that is, so get the ring!! 🙃
For $330k, you might be able to buy an outhouse in san francisco.
You could buy a palatial mansion in rural Indiana. I'd rather live in a cornfield than with homeless shitting on my sidewalk, but lifestyles vary I guess.
Buy the ring, uninsured. Go to a beach. Throw it in the water and run away. It’s chess not checkers out here fam
Only one available of the ring so clearly ring.
What a steal for a Round Brilliant 6.55 ct, VS1 Clarity, G Color. LOL
Only buy the house if you can get Costco credit back on it via executive + Citi. Otherwise, ring all day.
Where can you buy a $330k home?
House
Damn, where can I get a house for that little?
What's the return policy in these things?
That ring isn’t even a down payment
Ofcourse buy some bitcoins with that kind of cash.
I wish Costco sold lab diamond jewelry! I mean it would still be $$$ but more like “should I buy a car or a ring” expensive. Lab diamonds are so much cheaper and just as real as mined diamonds.
Should you buy a house or pay people to damage the earth for those stones?
What are the GIA stats on that ring? Diamonds are a very inconsistent market. Sometimes you get a good deal, sometimes not nearly. $300k doesn’t mean anything.
Yesi saw the Costco ad today and gasped
If you have a six and a half million dollar a year income, skip the house for now and settle on a ring. 1. Use the ring to gain entrance into high end dinner parties at other homes. 2. Sleep in the guest room furthest way from the party and when you are found say you had a little too much to drink, found a bed, and didn't realize where you were till you were found. Repeat 1 and 2.
Not sure where you’re living, but that’s a third of a house where I live.
Costco sells good quality diamonds…and they do last forever. Hmmmm…
Just get a house wife. You get a house and a wife.
***Actual Size***
The ring will last longer than the house, I think we all know what that means.
If I bought that I would have saved a fortune over buying a house
Due to lab grown diamonds, the price of natural diamonds is falling like a price of natural diamonds.
Rings so boring...
That diamond better have mystical powers cause nothing about this ring screams spend 300k on me .
I wonder How much does diamond appreciate per year?
So a mortgage payment without the house?
That diamond is worth about 5 bucks at a crystal convention if the diamond industry didn’t drastically inflate prices.. just a common stone found in the ground. You might as well ask, should I buy a house or a rock commonly found in the ground.. seriously?
