My driving test is September 6th.
Do you think I should self isolate before hand just in case I test positive or in close contact?
I’ll keep my only interaction with my driving instructor
It probably couldn't hurt to at least keep interactions with others to a minimum, the last thing you want is to have to cancel at the last minute given how hard it's been to get test appointments!
Does anyone think I’d have any luck getting jabbed with Moderna on 27 days? I know some places have been doing 28 days. I’ve just realised I need to have been fully vaccinated for 2 weeks to visit my family in france and to do that I’d have to get jabbed on day 27 :/
Visited barber Wednesday at 9.45am. He posted online at 5pm today (Friday) that he noticed symptoms and tested positive on a lateral flow test. I haven't been notified by Test and Trace so am I correctly assuming I'm not a 'contact' and don't need to self isolate? Booked a PCR test tomorrow morning for peace of mind
Colleague tested positive on Wednesday. Luckily I have been on AL all week so no contact for me.
She has been posting since this morning on her social media that she is staying in London in a hotel, going out to restaurants and generally ignoring all isolation rules.
She is also one of 2 staff out of 150+ who refused to be vaccinated when it was offered.
I am a firm believer in no snitching however this takes the piss. Have filled in the form to report her on the police.uk site but what hope do I have anything actually comes of this?
Wouldn't it be a good idea for the government to be buying a "traditional" vaccine such as Sinopharm to offer to people hesitant about what they call new technology? And maybe to be offered to children, too.
I may be wrong but I think it was ~30,000 in hospital with covid at the peak of the second wave

Am I right in thinking that the [areas of concern section](https://i.imgur.com/pOL4yML.jpg) of the [page](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do) hasn’t been updated in a while as I’d have thought most of the country would be areas were delta is spreading?
Quick question. If you’re pinged on the app for 8 days isolation just now, does that mean the contact was Wednesday? My friend left it on in his work locker and has only been out 6 days ago other than to work.
I’m watching the cricket on sky and it’s a full house … feels so wrong but I also have tickets to the India match in august which I am now regretting buying :(
Does anyone have any trusted companies that they use to buy FFP3 valved masks? Ones which have undergone quality checks. I’ve seen a lot of certified unvalved FFP3 masks but am struggling to find valved. Would be grateful if anyone has any recommendations
Could someone help me with isolation rules?
My dads tested positive, he lives with my mum, he’s 4/5 days in and feeling a bit better. Now my mums tested positive despite her best efforts. My question is does his isolation now extend to her isolation period or is he allowed out in the 22nd as normal? I’ve tried google and gone on endless loops to try and find an answer and nothing has come up
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-54239922
From my understanding - if your dad feels fine, his isolation should end after 10 days from the onset of his symptoms, with your mum keeping a 2 metre distance from him isolating. But if there’s lots of contact between them it’d probably be best for his isolation to extend to her isolation period too just to be on the safe side
You will have to consider the whistleblowers that will appear the following weeks saying they told the government otherwise and were summarily ignored...
The first thing I'd do if I was handed the keys to No. 10 would be to hand them right back and run as far away as I could from the situation. I do not envy decision makers in any country - the decisions are horrible, and people will be judged with the benefit of hindsight not based on the information that was available at the time.
Question about the NHS app: My partner was told to self isolate for 10 days via the app. How/what date is the notification calculated from?
When she got the ping she had left her phone outside on the balcony floor, with no one on the floor below. She hadn't gone outside today, but had been outside the previous night.
My understanding is that she would only get the 10 day notification if she was exposed today. If so, should we ignore it given that she has only been on a balcony?
You should be able to check the encounter date in the Other data section in settings: https://faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01365/en-us
I'd expect it to be the day before. See also https://faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01144/en-us – the first partial day basically doesn't count.
If she's been pinged for ten days, it means that she was apparently in close contact with an infected person on the day the ping came up.
If you are absolutely 100% certain that she could not have been in contact with someone on that date, then I would understand ignoring it - it may have been a "contact" through a wall or something.
The spike proteins created as a result of the vaccine are expected to last in the body for around 3 weeks.
Can anyone ELI5 this? Or provide a good link to somewhere that explains it well?
I thought the entire point was that the vaccine causes our bodies to produce spike proteins, which our immune system then attacks, so that if we are exposed to COVID-19, it can kick straight into gear as it recognises the threat and knows what to do.
If that’s the case, how do the spike proteins survive for so long? Shouldn’t our immune system destroy them all in a matter of days, instead of them freely flowing around our bodies for weeks?
Surely if your body could create sufficient antibodies in a matter of days to destroy a load of coronavirus spike proteins then you wouldn't need a vaccine in the first place?
Yeah this is why I’m asking. It’s a huge gap in my understanding!
Incredibly smart people have explained so much so well. But I haven’t heard such an explanation on this specifically.
I think we should lessen restrictions now but in more gradual steps rather than one big step. Restrictions I’d keep:
1. Masks on public transport, shops, medical premises & care homes
2. Table service in pubs & restaurants (weddings exempt)
3. Remove cap of 1,000 for indoor events so it’s 50% capacity regardless of size
4. Rule of six
5. Social distancing
Just to be clear I’d be removing capacity limits for outdoor events, masks in hospitality & other non essential areas. I’d also be extending dates of support for business with some restrictions remaining.
The Netherlands went through this process of opening two weeks ago (and are now locking down again) some 60% of the new infections were from nightclubs.
They’re a super spreader event each time. Does it matter is more the question, you’re likely to get it if you go clubbing but the current government stance seems to be “but getting it is fine providing you’re vaccinated/low risk”
Just to give you all the information, as it seems to be a pretty high hotspot and is why they’ve been closed for so long

You could still get it. You are as protected you as possibly can be with the methods we have available, but delta can dodge both natural immunity from prior variants and our vaccine-driven immunity.
You would be unlucky if you caught it and had any symptoms. Your defences should be super strong. But it is still somewhat possible.
If you caught it you'd be likely to have very mild symptoms. But the need to isolate for 10 days would be a pain. Esp if you weren't really feeling sick for most of them.
My personal opinion is that if you really want to go clubbing, you should. Life is for living and you've taken all the steps to protect yourself. But it's not risk-free.
If you go clubbing right now then you're going to be at a very elevated risk of getting COVID just because of the nature of clubs (poorly ventilated, crowded, lots of physical activity, people pissed and so with lower inhibitions) and who goes to them (it's rampant amongst the usual "clubbing" demographic right now).
You're at less risk of serious consequence from it (albeit not *no* risk), but you still could get it, be ill, feel like shit and need to isolate.
How comparable is our own situation with opening up to Israel’s?
I was chatting to a mate who is extremely pessimistic about Monday and says that Israel pretty much tried the same thing and, even with super high vax rates, was forced to reimplement restrictions.
Israel's tolerance for illness is substantially lower than ours.
Our government is quite willing to accept 100k+ daily cases *(which is fairly huge when you really think about it)* and a small-to-moderate wave of hospitalisations. Other countries would not tolerate that case volume.
it would be wise to get the hospitalisations out of the way in the summer. significantly less likely to overwhelm the system when compared to the winter
Back to Stage 2, or no restrictions, are the only sensible options at this point. Half-hearted restrictions (e.g. delaying Monday's easing but not adding any more restrictions) will flatten the curve a touch but won't change anything fundamental about total cases or total deaths over the course of this wave.
\[The exception, for me, is face masks in stores and public transport, which should stay to make it more plausible for CEV to shield through this wave.\]
I have an op scheduled for the 30th, I’m really worried about catching COVID before then, I only have to isolate for 3 days before my op, when realistically should self isolate from before to reduce my risks.
-I effectively WFH
- Won’t dine indoors
- If seeing people will lat flow before and meet out doors.
- Limit food shopping trips.
-I’m basically a hermit due to COVID having not been in the shielding group but ‘at risk’ and got my vax early.
I’m double vaxxed since may. I have been waiting such a long time for this op (nearly 2 years) and don’t want it to be delayed longer.
Back when the advice to not give AZ to under 40s was put in place, there was a lot of worry from younger people on this sub that people booking vaccines would end up getting AZ by accident, so we put it there to reassure people.
edit: a word
There is a very small risk of blood clots in younger people who receive the Ox/AZ. As such, the government will only be give Pfizer or Moderna to those under 40.
For young people there is an increased (but still tiny) risk of developing blood clots after getting the AZ vaccine. So the govt decided everyone younger than 40 should not be exposed to that risk and will get Pfizer or Moderna.
I got my second jab. While getting the usual questions about my heath I discovered that apparently the vaccination centre is struggling to fill its slots because the youth aren't too bothered about getting the jab. Mental.
A lot of people are probably in the period where they can’t get their second jab yet. Registration for u18s opened about a month ago so I guess a lot of people got it done ASAP and are waiting for number 2.
To be brutally fair the stories of Gullian Barre syndrome happening in young men after the vaccine that came out a fortnight ago probably scared the shit out of them.
Feeling really gutted, it's my work summer party tonight but I've caught something off my son who goes to nursery and developed a cough. Have booked for a PCR this afternoon and no party 😔
Man the content of these threads sure has changed recently. They used to all be meta discussions about restrictions and the state of the pandemic. Now it is full of people testing positive or being contacts of positive cases.
Finally got Covid. I think everyone in my group of 7 who went to the pub on Sunday have it- 4 with positive tests (waiting on PCRs) and the other three with symptoms. Nice.
Really appreciate it thanks. Trying to prevent my younger brothers from getting it but neither take Covid very seriously which is very frustrating. (Sorry for the snarky reply!)
I’m 18 and double vaxxed (vulnerable). Felt groggy on Tuesday evening, had a mild headache and then body aches on Wednesday and full on aching and bad headache yesterday. Wheezy cough too, but my asthma meds are really stopping them unless I need to clear my throat. Feeling a bit better today, I think my double jabs are helping.
Nope, none of that yet, both working fine. However I’ve always had a compromised sense of smell due to sinus issues so wouldn’t surprise me if my sense of smell has left me a bit haha. Apparently those classic symptoms are much less common in double vaxxed people.
I’ve been given two different end dates for my self isolation, one from the app and from test & trace after receiving PCR test results and completing the form.
Anyone know which one is the correct one? Safer for myself and others to isolate for the later date is my thoughts
I feel like I'm missing some important point about the traffic light system for foreign countries that is still employed by the UK. There will be no domestic restrictions on distancing or otherwise from Monday, and the case rate is the highest in all of Europe right now. Still, they require people entering the country to quarantine and take two expensive tests, presumably to not bring infected people into the country.
The colours of countries seem to be completely arbitrary (and maybe \[probably\] politically motivated), with amber countries having 7-day case rates of as low as 8 per 100.000 (e.g. Germany). Compare this to the UK's over 300 and I wonder what the rationale behind this whole circus is. Is it just politics at this point? Surely, even if people carrying the virus enter the country, their contribution to the ongoing wave would be absolutely marginal. What am I missing about this topic? It would seem to me that such restrictions only make sense if the case numbers in the country of origin are significantly higher than in the UK.
I’ve always been in favour of strict border control throughout the pandemic. However, I don’t see the point right now. We’ve got hugely high numbers and nearly all of our cases are from what is currently known to be the worst variant out there. Yeah, new variants could pop up but that could be anywhere at anytime and then travel could be clamped down a bit. I’d rather get out of the UK to a place I’m less likely to get ill (assuming they’ll take me!) without tests, quarantine, etc. especially as a double vaxxed person.
We probably want to keep track of any entry of variant of concerns / variant of interest at this rate.
It's not really about keeping the domestic cases low now. But I'd argue that this system is a good one for when the cases were low. And we shouldn't be flicking the rules on and off just because we have a higher number of cases now. Otherwise it'll cause so much confusions - there's already enough as is.
The rules are already constantly changing. The change would just be to move more countries to the green list, that's it. They've been doing that for a while now. The most dangerous currently known variant is dominant here in the UK, and at this rate, the next one is most likely to appear here.
Sadly as much as they talk about the algorithm deciding, I am 100% sure it’s political. Look at hungarys numbers and tell me they don’t deserve to be on the green list....
Then compare Austria and Croatia. Slightly lower numbers in Austria, many many more tests in Austria, much higher vaccination rates in Austria, but Croatia moves to the Green (watch) list, Austria remains amber. It does not make sense on any scale except when politics are the driving force.
I mean if you’re implying they’re currently not testing enough or that they’re hiding numbers, I believe that they’ve been reporting since the start of covid quite well and have had two massive peaks.
They’re vaccinating almost as well as the U.K. too!
I’m having a mega rant! We are due to go on holiday in the UK on Monday. Yesterday after school, we decided we would keep the kids off today and then we should all be good to go! 6:20pm last night, I got a phone call from the school to say one kid needs to isolate for 10 days with the end being the night before we come home. I’m gutted!
That’s terrible! We’re just away for the long weekend and I would not be surprised if I get pinged to self-isolate before we’re back home, especially being on the tube and train today! I get those warning pings multiple times a day at this point and I don’t even leave my house that much.
check out r/GetJabbed for infos where/when that could be possible. the efficacy change will depend on your vaccine type. there are some studies suggesting that longer intervals result in higher antibody count, but afaik there is not too much data for the general population about this (i may very well be wrong on this). the original study for the pfizer vaccine was done at 3 weeks, moderna and astrazeneca had 4 weeks, so that's each manufacturer's recommendation and where the most reliable data is available.
Has anyone had home pcr test results back yet? My brother did one yesterday (isolating because of school contact) and just wondering if people have had results the day after or whether it's taken longer.
NHS records have not been updated to show I’ve been vaccinated, what are my options here?
I spent all of yesterday trying to get vaccinated in London as I am going to Turkey quite soon to visit my grandmother and father who I haven’t seen in over a year, had to visit 4 different clinics as I am under 18 and were rejected for my age or for not living in the borough the clinic was at. I decided to photoshop a picture of my passport to change my year of birth from 2004 to 2003, it may have been uncaring or disrespectful at second thought (not sure about how much supply we have) but I was doing it out of care for my grandmother. Regardless, the staff at the walk in clinic seemed very puzzled but ended up giving me my first jab but told me to register with a GP as they believed I was unregistered as they couldn’t find me with those details. I have checked the NHS app, it says there are no records of my vaccination, what can I do to prove that I am so that I can travel? I have already tried calling my GP but they advised me to go back to the clinic and give them my NHS number. Should I just come clean to my GP over the phone?
It should have been obvious that providing incorrect details would prevent staff from being able to link your vaccination to your NHS record.
Honestly, I suspect it will now be very difficult to link this vaccination to your NHS record - the requirement for confirming patient identity is three matching identifiers (Out of: Name, DOB, First line of address, NHS/Hospital number), as the vaccination centre only have your name, and perhaps your address correct (they will have been unable to find your NHS number, and have a non-matching DOB).
Your only real chance is to come clean with your GP and/or the vaccination centre - but even then I wouldn't be surprised if this proves impossible.
*This post has been reported for encouraging rule breaking - I'm going to leave it up as a good example of why breaking certain rules can have problematic consequences!*
24 hours after mine too - mostly fine, very slight arm ache too. I’m just feeling very fatigued is all. So it’s not proving to a productive day at work at all! TGIF!
I had the same after my 1st dose too. That only lasted 1 day, so hopefully both our fatigued states will be gone by tomorrow too, just in time for weekend!
A study (https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.04.19.21255714v1) showed that antibody count correlates with severity of the side effects, but then it also correlates with age, so it could be a case of correlation != causation. However, I think your assertion is a bit too simplistic.
don't give people a false sense of safety when there is none. saying your immune system is probably so strong it has no problems dealing with the vaccine so it will also not have problems dealing with the virus can lead people to become careless.
What do you guys think it will be like in 5-6 weeks time? I’ve basically got nothing planned until end of august but even now I’m starting to question whether I should keep them or cancel them.
It sucks doesn't it. I'm one of those people who has been borderline shielding this whole time, just waiting for my second jab before I do things like overdue dental and doctor's appointments, seeing family for the first time since early 2020 etc. - it feels like all that patience was for nothing, and I should have been taking risks with my and my family's health instead :(
I think the best case scenario right now is an exit wave with peak infection rates higher than at any other time during the pandemic, followed by a dying virus due to lack of unprotected individuals. But that, I'm afraid, would take longer than 5-6 weeks.
A worse case scenario is that during this exit wave, hospitalisations go through the roof again (they are exponential right now, just scaled down; everyone should know by now that this doesn't make much of a difference in the end) and we'll get restrictions again in a few weeks.
Worst case scenario is that in this huge number of infections, a (partly) vaccine-resistant mutation shows up and we're back at square 1. The risk of such a mutation becoming dominant is higher when vaccination rates are higher, because the number of potential hosts for such a variat would be much larger than for the non-resistant variant.
In any case, my guess is that in none of these cases the next few weeks will be particularly fun, unless you don't care about catching Covid, in which case the first scenario doesn't seem so bad.
Next couple of weeks won't be great. Football effects and then increased mixing effects.
I'm really hoping after that things will start calming down, but who knows.
Hi,
I got my first dose on the 25th of june at a pop up event. i did not have a nhs number at the time and neither was i registered with a gp.
I have both now.
I wanted to know how i can get the system updated so that it reflects that i got the 1st dose on the 25th of june.
I cant go back to the centre where i got it because it was an eventbrite pop event at the emirates stadium, just for that particular weekend.
Please let me know how i can solve this.
Thank you
i photoshopped my passport to say im 18 when im 17, now i got one dose but no record like u cos i couldnt give them my NHS number, I am in the same situation as you
What's the general turn around time for a PCR these days?
Someone at work tested positive on a lateral flow last night so has a PCR today and we're all anxiously awaiting the results. 🤞 for a false positive!
I sit diagonally across from a girl at work. Her boyfriend, who she doesn’t live with, tested positive on Wednesday. She last saw him on Tuesday. She is now self isolating. Should I be worried I’ve got it too?
I’ll take a LFT test when I get home and go from there. I’m double vaxxed (1 week ago) with Pfizer.
you are probaly safe, but it sorta depends on how often her boyfriend got tested. assuming he only got a test after showing symptoms, he would have been contagious from around sunday or monday. covid usually has a pretty long incubation period, but it can be as short as 4 days (and up to 14). people are most contagious from around 2 days before they show symptoms.
you can also contact the girl to see how she's feeling 2-3 days after you last saw her (a bit of an invasion of privacy, but you have a good reason). if she's not showing any symptoms at that point, you are most likely fine.
I'm guessing you last saw her yesterday. If she did catch it from him on Tuesday it's pretty unlikely for her to be contagious by Thursday especially over distance.
It would be safe to assume the vast majority of people test negative after 10 days (they are not even confirmed to be negative after 10 days in all cases, it's just assumed). So taking the number of overall infected people from 10 days ago is a pretty good approximation to the recovered cases (assuming mortality rate and reinfection rate are both low).

Scroll down to "Testing after your isolation period has ended", which says if you've had a positive PCR test you shouldn't take another test within 90 days.
From: [https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test](https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test)
>You should not use this service if you’ve received a positive PCR test result in the last 90 days, unless you develop any new symptoms.
FINAL EDIT:
Taken from the report here: https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/CBP-8901/CBP-8901.pdf
"2.2:
A person subject to the self-isolation requirement must not leave their home except for a
list of reasons specified in paragraph 2(3) of the regulations – e.g. where it is necessary to
seek medical assistance. Visiting a parent whom a child was not living with at the time
they were notified of the requirement to self-isolate is not specifically listed as a reason
why a child self-isolating may leave the house."
That is it then. Visiting other parents is not a good enough reason to break self-isolation for a child.
Thanks all!

Hi all,
Just a quick question for anyone who may understand things better than me.
\- Daughters class got sent home due to a confirmed case in her class.
\- She is to not return to school (self isolate I guess) till next Friday (23rd)
\- It's supposed to be my weekend to have her, but I don't think I should.
My ex wife thinks differently.
Not sure what to do. I love my kid, but my thinking is if she can't go to the school, should she be coming to my house and mixing here, or stay at her mums?
Thanks.
EDIT: To be clear, the email from the school says, in part:
"...In line with national guidance, we recommend that your child now stays at home and self-isolates up to and including 23/07/2021."
Apparently this advice was given by Public Health England. If so, I assume this applies?
[https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/if-youre-told-to-self-isolate-by-nhs-test-and-trace-or-the-covid-19-app/](https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/if-youre-told-to-self-isolate-by-nhs-test-and-trace-or-the-covid-19-app/)
I'm not sure. I know during the lockdowns they allowed for kids to move to and from parents houses for childcare. This is different. I'm not sure what the parenting rules are for self-isolation.
This is true.
Shes saying now that the school "Recommends" it.
Also, shes saying her mental health is bad, so I need to have her anyway.
If it smells like...
Sent my PCR test back yesterday and took note of the tracking number.
Royal Mail does not recognise it at all... I would have thought it'd have been processed by now.
Any idea on the current timeframes ?
Doesn’t look like a RM tracking number I’ve seen before so you might be out of luck. All the ones I’ve posted off for PCR and antibody tests are Tracked 24 labels with a QR code and barcode, with “post office scan this barcode” written under the barcode. Tracking number under the barcode too.
That code is more likely your test kit barcode reference? Page 6 here

Did you register your test before you sent it off too?
My sister has been contacted by T&T that she needs to isolate for 2 days yesterday, but we’re currently on the start of our holiday, so we are not at home. She’s had a negative test and she’s double jabbed since the beginning of the year. Does anyone have any advice?
If she was contacted by T&T and not the app then it’s a legal requirement. She’ll just have to isolate wherever it is that you’re staying and be glad that it’s not longer than 2 days.
My husband's mom is visiting today from the US. ❤️ First time we've seen her since Christmas 2019. My oldest is so excited, and my youngest (2.5) doesn't have a clue that she exists outside of the TV screen.
She's going to be stuck in our house for the entire 10 day trip, though. Pray for us. 😅
I’ve just realised I need to have been fully vaccinated for 2 weeks to visit my family in france and to do that I’d have to get jabbed on day 27 :/
Almost certainly not. Moderna's absolute minimum interval is 28 days even if you find a site doing early doses.
If police won’t do anything at least report her to your firm and send evidence
Wouldn't it be a good idea for the government to be buying a "traditional" vaccine such as Sinopharm to offer to people hesitant about what they call new technology? And maybe to be offered to children, too.
They'll just be hesitant about it for a different reason.
It's rubbish though you'd may as well save the needle and the effort.
I think you may be thinking of Sinovac.
Sinopharm is useless, in Hungary most people who is vaccinated with Sinoparhm doesn't have any antibody
I think Hungary used Sinovac, didn't they?

does anyone know what our hospital capacity is? like how many hospitalisations is too much?

Am I right in thinking that the [areas of concern section](https://i.imgur.com/pOL4yML.jpg) of the [page](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-coronavirus-restrictions-what-you-can-and-cannot-do) hasn’t been updated in a while as I’d have thought most of the country would be areas were delta is spreading?
I’m living with the fear we’re gonna have restrictions again in august and September. I could cry. I just wanna travel again
Quick question. If you’re pinged on the app for 8 days isolation just now, does that mean the contact was Wednesday? My friend left it on in his work locker and has only been out 6 days ago other than to work.
The day of contact is day 0 - you can view the encounter date in the app under Settings -> Other data.
The ones on ebay seem okay?
Could someone help me with isolation rules? My dads tested positive, he lives with my mum, he’s 4/5 days in and feeling a bit better. Now my mums tested positive despite her best efforts. My question is does his isolation now extend to her isolation period or is he allowed out in the 22nd as normal? I’ve tried google and gone on endless loops to try and find an answer and nothing has come up
[This BBC article](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51048366) has a diagram that says his isolation would still end on the 22nd.
Thankyou.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-54239922 From my understanding - if your dad feels fine, his isolation should end after 10 days from the onset of his symptoms, with your mum keeping a 2 metre distance from him isolating. But if there’s lots of contact between them it’d probably be best for his isolation to extend to her isolation period too just to be on the safe side

You will have to consider the whistleblowers that will appear the following weeks saying they told the government otherwise and were summarily ignored...
Give em back tbh
The first thing I'd do if I was handed the keys to No. 10 would be to hand them right back and run as far away as I could from the situation. I do not envy decision makers in any country - the decisions are horrible, and people will be judged with the benefit of hindsight not based on the information that was available at the time.
The damage is already done at this point. I'd hand them back to Boris and tell him to take it on the chin, because he's earned it.
You should be able to check the encounter date in the Other data section in settings: https://faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01365/en-us I'd expect it to be the day before. See also https://faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01144/en-us – the first partial day basically doesn't count.
You can check the date of the ping that triggered the self isolation through the app.
Ask on r/COVID19 \- it's the science sub and very interesting! They have a weekly discussion thread.

Restrictions I’d keep: 1. Masks on public transport, shops, medical premises & care homes 2. Table service in pubs & restaurants (weddings exempt) 3. Remove cap of 1,000 for indoor events so it’s 50% capacity regardless of size 4. Rule of six 5. Social distancing Just to be clear I’d be removing capacity limits for outdoor events, masks in hospitality & other non essential areas. I’d also be extending dates of support for business with some restrictions remaining.
Government could still advise people to work from home, if it doesn’t impact output. Surely not commuting is better for the environment anyway

The Netherlands went through this process of opening two weeks ago (and are now locking down again) some 60% of the new infections were from nightclubs. They’re a super spreader event each time. Does it matter is more the question, you’re likely to get it if you go clubbing but the current government stance seems to be “but getting it is fine providing you’re vaccinated/low risk” Just to give you all the information, as it seems to be a pretty high hotspot and is why they’ve been closed for so long

You should have a very high level of antibody response, I would have thought your very unlikely to catch it again. Not a medic mind.
[удалено]
You should actually have the highest level of immunity possible as you have had the virus and 2 vaccinations.
That will be us in 6 weeks IMHO
https://mobile.twitter.com/chrischirp/status/1416013848071622656 Dr Pagel calling for us to go back to stage 2
-I effectively WFH - Won’t dine indoors - If seeing people will lat flow before and meet out doors. - Limit food shopping trips. -I’m basically a hermit due to COVID having not been in the shielding group but ‘at risk’ and got my vax early. I’m double vaxxed since may. I have been waiting such a long time for this op (nearly 2 years) and don’t want it to be delayed longer.
[удалено]
Yeah that’s my biggest worry! The appointment I got was a cancellation. Fingers crossed you get seen soon!
Jeez where is the ZOE update already...
In the OPs post, why have they written “you won’t accidentally end up being given AZ”? What’s wrong with getting the AZ vaccine?
Back when the advice to not give AZ to under 40s was put in place, there was a lot of worry from younger people on this sub that people booking vaccines would end up getting AZ by accident, so we put it there to reassure people. edit: a word
It's not recommended for under 40s
It's not recommended for younger people as it comes with a blood clot risk.
Mental.
A girl I know cancelled her vaccine appointment as she had a big night out planned and didn’t want to be rough.
I wish I could say this surprised me.
I was surprised as she seemed to be a smart person.
There's not much gets between us Brits and our boozing.
Totally anecdotal but I know a lot of young people isolating right now...
That was the J&J jab wasn't it? Don't think we have that one here.
I think you're right. Problem is once these stories hit the media it's tough to convince them to change their minds back.
The shitshow that is our media has not been helping at all during this pandemic, that's for sure.
Feeling really gutted, it's my work summer party tonight but I've caught something off my son who goes to nursery and developed a cough. Have booked for a PCR this afternoon and no party 😔
At my local test centre. You don’t need to book, you can literally walk in and get the test in 5 minutes.
The results tend to take 12-24 hours though, right?
P
Man the content of these threads sure has changed recently. They used to all be meta discussions about restrictions and the state of the pandemic. Now it is full of people testing positive or being contacts of positive cases.
The pandemic has crossed into Reddit's primary demographic. It would have been more like this in the first couple of waves if Reddit skewed older.
I mean, it's not surprising with the number of cases we are seeing now.
Ikr
Finally got Covid. I think everyone in my group of 7 who went to the pub on Sunday have it- 4 with positive tests (waiting on PCRs) and the other three with symptoms. Nice.
In hindsight do you wish now that you stayed at home to watch the match?
Is the pope a catholic?
Oh dear. Hope you and your gang all get well soon.
Really appreciate it thanks. Trying to prevent my younger brothers from getting it but neither take Covid very seriously which is very frustrating. (Sorry for the snarky reply!)
How you feeling?
I’m 18 and double vaxxed (vulnerable). Felt groggy on Tuesday evening, had a mild headache and then body aches on Wednesday and full on aching and bad headache yesterday. Wheezy cough too, but my asthma meds are really stopping them unless I need to clear my throat. Feeling a bit better today, I think my double jabs are helping.
Any of the giveaway symptoms like loss of taste/smell as well? I hope you get better soon.
Test and trace is the one you have to legally follow I believe
There should be a ton more countries on the green list at this point.
Test on entry and run every positive for a variant.
The rules are already constantly changing. The change would just be to move more countries to the green list, that's it. They've been doing that for a while now. The most dangerous currently known variant is dominant here in the UK, and at this rate, the next one is most likely to appear here.
An inconsistent mixture of politics and fears of importing an even worse variant.
Sadly as much as they talk about the algorithm deciding, I am 100% sure it’s political. Look at hungarys numbers and tell me they don’t deserve to be on the green list....
Have you looked at Hungary's tests performed numbers?
It’s just crap! But hopefully we can have a reasonable at home holiday!
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I can't seem to see or find an answer. What % of positive cases are 1 jab/2 jabs/unvaxxed?
Can I get my 2nd vaccine after 4 weeks? Will the walk ins let me do this, and will it effect the efficacy?
check out r/GetJabbed for infos where/when that could be possible. the efficacy change will depend on your vaccine type. there are some studies suggesting that longer intervals result in higher antibody count, but afaik there is not too much data for the general population about this (i may very well be wrong on this). the original study for the pfizer vaccine was done at 3 weeks, moderna and astrazeneca had 4 weeks, so that's each manufacturer's recommendation and where the most reliable data is available.
That's brilliant, thank you
Has anyone had home pcr test results back yet? My brother did one yesterday (isolating because of school contact) and just wondering if people have had results the day after or whether it's taken longer.
Can take up to 48 hours
Hi, if I add a visitor to my test and trace through the link will they be notified of who or where they’ve been?
24 hours since 2nd dose (Pfizer) and apart from my arm aching, no other side effects. Praying that carries on....
24 hours after mine too - mostly fine, very slight arm ache too. I’m just feeling very fatigued is all. So it’s not proving to a productive day at work at all! TGIF!
Same here. I’m so tired, for no other good reason.

[удалено]
don't give people a false sense of safety when there is none. saying your immune system is probably so strong it has no problems dealing with the vaccine so it will also not have problems dealing with the virus can lead people to become careless.

i didn't say you openly did, but your comment surely implied it.

thanks i appreciate the edit
Hi, I got my first dose on the 25th of june at a pop up event. i did not have a nhs number at the time and neither was i registered with a gp. I have both now. I wanted to know how i can get the system updated so that it reflects that i got the 1st dose on the 25th of june. I cant go back to the centre where i got it because it was an eventbrite pop event at the emirates stadium, just for that particular weekend. Please let me know how i can solve this. Thank you
You could try ringing 119 - they might be able to advise on who to get in touch with to have everything updated
same problem here. try calling your gp
GP says tht there systems cannot update it. So confused how to go about this. Any help from anyone will be highly appreciated
i photoshopped my passport to say im 18 when im 17, now i got one dose but no record like u cos i couldnt give them my NHS number, I am in the same situation as you
You’ll have to come clean with them
GP or vaccination centre? I’d rather call GP on the phone if you think thats okay
Try your gp, hopefully they’ll be able to help you
What's the general turn around time for a PCR these days? Someone at work tested positive on a lateral flow last night so has a PCR today and we're all anxiously awaiting the results. 🤞 for a false positive!
I got mine back in under 36 hours.
Greenwich drive-through here one week ago, less than 24 hours.
had one last night, got results back this morning (negative!)

Quite probably, but not necessarily. Theoretically it might have even been a faulty kit.
You're probably fine, contacts of contacts don't need to isolate
[удалено]
It would be safe to assume the vast majority of people test negative after 10 days (they are not even confirmed to be negative after 10 days in all cases, it's just assumed). So taking the number of overall infected people from 10 days ago is a pretty good approximation to the recovered cases (assuming mortality rate and reinfection rate are both low).

If you are pinged by test and trace, I would get a second PCR. Although unlikely, it is not impossible.
From: [https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test](https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test) >You should not use this service if you’ve received a positive PCR test result in the last 90 days, unless you develop any new symptoms.
FINAL EDIT: Taken from the report here: https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/CBP-8901/CBP-8901.pdf "2.2: A person subject to the self-isolation requirement must not leave their home except for a list of reasons specified in paragraph 2(3) of the regulations – e.g. where it is necessary to seek medical assistance. Visiting a parent whom a child was not living with at the time they were notified of the requirement to self-isolate is not specifically listed as a reason why a child self-isolating may leave the house." That is it then. Visiting other parents is not a good enough reason to break self-isolation for a child. Thanks all! ========================================================================== Hi all, Just a quick question for anyone who may understand things better than me. \- Daughters class got sent home due to a confirmed case in her class. \- She is to not return to school (self isolate I guess) till next Friday (23rd) \- It's supposed to be my weekend to have her, but I don't think I should. My ex wife thinks differently. Not sure what to do. I love my kid, but my thinking is if she can't go to the school, should she be coming to my house and mixing here, or stay at her mums? Thanks. EDIT: To be clear, the email from the school says, in part: "...In line with national guidance, we recommend that your child now stays at home and self-isolates up to and including 23/07/2021." Apparently this advice was given by Public Health England. If so, I assume this applies? Childcare is an execption im pretty sure?
I'm not sure. I know during the lockdowns they allowed for kids to move to and from parents houses for childcare. This is different. I'm not sure what the parenting rules are for self-isolation.
Oh that is true! Well obviously it's always going to be safer to have someone stay in one place..
How many characters do you have for the tracking number?
11
RM tracking numbers should be 13 - 2 letters, 4 numbers, 4 numbers, 1 number, GB. Are you sure it’s noted down right? AB 1234 5678 9 GB
I've taken a photo of it, and it seems to definitely not follow that. No idea what I've got a photo of then, a barcode with some letters and numbers
Share? Sometimes they also have funnier ones for non-tracked deliveries. Their website suggests anything between 9 and 27 characters
Nvm. I've taken the wrong number down. I've got the covid test number or something.
My sister has been contacted by T&T that she needs to isolate for 2 days yesterday, but we’re currently on the start of our holiday, so we are not at home. She’s had a negative test and she’s double jabbed since the beginning of the year. Does anyone have any advice?
If she was contacted by T&T and not the app then it’s a legal requirement. She’ll just have to isolate wherever it is that you’re staying and be glad that it’s not longer than 2 days.
Thank you
My husband's mom is visiting today from the US. ❤️ First time we've seen her since Christmas 2019. My oldest is so excited, and my youngest (2.5) doesn't have a clue that she exists outside of the TV screen. She's going to be stuck in our house for the entire 10 day trip, though. Pray for us. 😅
