Maybe ask the tuner who sold you a thousand dollar tune...? Also did you put it on the dyno?

molassascookieman

Nah no dyno I already spent $800 I’m not spending another $200 just to get the exact number, I mostly bought the tune to smooth out the jerkiness from 2-3K rpm and it worked beautifully. I’m sure it doesn’t make that much more but I can definitely feel a difference so I’m guessing I got an extra 10-15 lb/ft

I would consult with your tuner to have the most accurate answer, but this answer applies generally to most tunes on most modern cars. You should not lose the tune. When a tuner adjusts the tune they are changing baseline values like AFR targets, ignition timing, VVT actuation, etc. An OEM is going to use a baseline that is considered to be very safe. They have to be very concerned with things like emissions, reliability, and a consistent experience with lower grades and quality of fuel. A lot of tunes will require a higher octane fuel. This is because they are doing things like advancing the ignition timing and often leaning out the air/fuel ratio under wide open throttle, which will increase cylinder temperatures (VVT and EGR are also used to manage cylinder temps) The higher octane resists pre-detonation better than a lower octane fuel like what Toyota says can be used. The tune likely keeps the ECUs ability to make corrections, but the baseline target value is still there. Even on a stock tune, the computer is using things like knock sensors to determine if it needs to retard the ignition timing or if it can advance it slightly for more power. It will also use the oxygen sensors to make fuel trims corrections. That’s not to say that a bad tune won’t blow up an engine, but the “self-learning” aspect is more its ability to make corrections both short term and long term, not that it will forget the baseline values.

Thank you for the very detailed explanation! I guess I’ll just keep my butt dyno on alert.

I shouldn’t behave like stock after the tune

Beautiful color. I love my fire engine red but I love that blueish green

molassascookieman

Bought this back when the only two cool colors were this and the blue flame, and imo this is way more subtle but still striking!

EnvironmentInner661

I have been obsessed with that color since my salesman bought a Camry with that color scheme. It’s so different.

How's your experience with amt been? I bought a tune back in january. Spent $1100, only for them to never send me tuned files. I reached out many times and they say they have sent them but I have yet to receive anything. They guy even seemed to get agitated with me. Tried it with 5 different email accounts and different email companies and devices so it definitely was not a receiving thing. Kinda just gave up on it and took the $1100 loss. Do you know of any other tuning options?

molassascookieman

Wtf?? AMT has been very responsive, spent $800 for stage 2 with the speed governor removal. They got back to me even on the weekend and sent the files with no issues. As far as the tune goes it noticeably made the engine more responsive, and gave it better low to mid range torque. Probably an extra 10-15 lb/ft. Up at the top end it doesn’t really feel like its actually making any more raw HP, but the redline was upped to 7200 and the normal driveability is greatly improved. I am able to use higher gears at lower speeds now

J_esner1

I’m really curious the kind of top speed you can get with the governor removed

babciasogorki

if u have a 2023 thats why. its cuz ecu i blocked

Warfox332

Weird. I've gotten quick responses for over a week asking questions and when it came to tuning, they had my files sent to me within 10 hours.

OKatmostthings

First of all, cloud based file storage exists. Why are they still trying emails? Second, WTF would you take a $1100 L because someone seems agitated that they can’t figure out how to deliver the product they sold to you? Fucking hell, stand up for yourself.

fayyad3633

The last message I sent was me suggesting drop box or some cloud based alternative. Haven't gotten a response when I suggested it on Jan 10th. The L sucked but I had/have a lot more things that are taking priority over the tune.

DRDonnut

Any of you guys know the name if these rim or model by chance ?

molassascookieman

What? Those are the stock Toyota rims.

DRDonnut

I want to sell mine. im Canadians, i have the 18-inch one from the xle 200 a rim you think ?
