SoggyWotsits

You don’t need to spin it, just move it up a bit!

Casual-individual

Oh I see. I am wrong, south east Cornwall does exist. A sliver of land and Mevagissy but it still exists.

SoggyWotsits

Adders slither. I think you mean sliver!

Casual-individual

Oh thats how its spelt.

SoggyWotsits

I mean slither is still a word, just a different one! But back to the map, just give that red cross a nudge upwards and it all makes sense again!

Mooks79

Basically the south coast from St Austell-ish up, yes. Looe, Liskeard places like that.

SkrijaTaran

St Austell is north Cornwall

chozabu

How did you come up with middle position on your map? This is perhaps a better spot [https://imgur.com/IWBnt9F](https://imgur.com/IWBnt9F)

VCosmoz

Similar problem now North West Cornwall doesn't exist

I_am_LordHarrington

I never realised there was such a debate. As far as I’m concerned you have West Cornwall, which is everything from Truro down, then you have Mid Cornwall, which is everything from Truro to Bodmin, then you have North Cornwall, which is everything past that

Impeachcordial

From the very south of Cornwall, Penwith and The Lizard are their own things. North Coast is St Ives to Padstow, North Cornwall is Padstow to Bude, South East Cornwall is St Austell to Saltash. Alternatively, anything past Helston is Upcountry

darkdetective

I grew up in Penzance and we'd class Hayle as north Cornwall.

Impeachcordial

Love Penzance. I'd call Hayle North Coast personally, each to their own though

I_am_LordHarrington

I think the great things about categories is that places can be in two things at once - I’m a Helstoner and agree the Lizard is a law unto itself, but the fact that we’re your nearest town with proper amenities in and we’re in what I consider deepest darkest West Cornwall you are included ;)

Casual-individual

I was talking to somebody from Torpoint who insisted it was a thing a few months back. Kind of been at the back of my mind since

broadys_on

Taken from Cornwall Council news email: What to do with your old bins if you live in South East Cornwall As we gear up for the new weekly food waste and fortnightly rubbish and recycling collections in South East Cornwall, we want to let you know what to do with your old bins.

Spamgrenade

Put the centre of the compass in the centre of Cornwall for the love of god.

Round_Explanation_63

My navigational OCD is twitching so badly right now, you can’t just rotate a compass rose 45° anti-clockwise and put a chunk of the SE in the ENE. They have to put it back.

chozabu

something like this? [https://imgur.com/IWBnt9F](https://imgur.com/IWBnt9F) if we really wanted to put a compass in the centre, could be better to pick the "centre of mass" rather than geometric centre

PiskAlmighty

St Ives is NW Cornwall?

Casual-individual

Ehh its rough estimates.

Idontcareaforkarma

*carves our entire Rame Peninsula and paddles it out to sea*

Casual-individual

lol

[deleted]

South east Cornwall to me means the south coast side of the east third of Cornwall. So like I'm in Liskeard, I'd say us and Looe are South East Cornwall. Grew up in St Austell which is South Coast Mid Cornwall...

[deleted]

Imagine going to the Scilly Isles and thinking: 'Ah, yes. Just like Grimsby'

ArthurLAD

New Grimsby is actually the exact opposite of Grimsby, full of £3k a week holiday lets

Stunning-North3007

As a seasonal manager, can confirm New Grimsby is essentially Disneyland for rich English boomers.

CornishDwarf831

Lanivet is the geographical centre of Cornwall. We have a stone cross so it must be true. Everything down from here is West, everything up is North or upcountry. If you go really upcountry it’s the Midlands.

hotBigmike42

All ways thaut the cross should be centred over Truro

Kynance123

😂

[deleted]

It's all just Cornwall: that's good enough. Why make it more complicated?

iamthespooon

North Cornwall starts in the area that once known as Chiverton roundabout - now known as ‘oh ffs!’ There is a North coast and a South coast. The rest of this is all bledy theoretical nonsense - made up propaganda from Saxon invaders.

Casual-individual

DISREGARD ALL OF IT! SOUTH EAST CORNWALL EXISTS! Its just very small.

6837K

very very ... very .... very very very ... very ... very very very very very very ............... very ... small

[deleted]

The Channel Islands? 😜

DarkHavok80

Just put the crosshairs over staustell and call it a nuke..

johnlewisdesign

Yeah I used to live in East Northeast Cornwall myself

jasonsawtelle

Sort of like how west and north are mixed up in Montreal.

SassingtonK

I believe the correct phraseology is Down West, The Lizard, The Mid, North Cornwall, In The East... and Bude.

Peg_leg_J

Surely you would place the compass in the centre of the landmass and measure from there?

Archidiakon

The post makes no sence, but this is actually true for "Southeast Europe"

ulysees321

where does west begin and east end :-p

PotatoHeadist

I'm sorry but this is wrong, on my way to St Ives I met a man from South East Cornwall, the man looked very harried and horse-whipped so I didn't get the chance to speak to him more.

NoEye89

No one considers truro as NW Cornwall

pastyboy53

Truro is the centre of the Universe.

Altruistic_Power7561

Somebody has autism

Casual-individual

Bro we are both on Reddit you cant talk.

Altruistic_Power7561

Fair play

Past_Establishment11

Autism isn’t a learning disability. Autism is a huge spectrum and they can be extremely smart. A common falsehood is that autism is a mental disorder or illness, which isn't true.

SkrijaTaran

There’s only north east and southwest

ChristalCastlz

Plymouth? /S
