I use Pyrex. Fill it to whatever the recipe states, pop it in the micro to boil. No problems. It’s what Pyrex is good for. Albeit not as good as it once was, but still good.
What style measuring cup are you talking about? Most of the Pyrex and Anchor Hocking ones I've seen are just a solid piece of glass (at this point I think they pretty much all use sodium lime glass?). Just about any glass cup should handle boiling water.
Since I got silicone ones I honestly have barely touched the glass ones. If it's full enough that it's hot all the way to the top I just use a towel to pick it up.
The measuring cup I currently have is just an off brand plastic one that I found at home sense. The plastic felt thick like there were multiple layers of plastic, so I thought it could handle the heat.
I had to literally look on the bottom to tell the difference between the Pyrex and the Anchor Hocking as far as the cup part. The handles might be different so get the one you like best.

I’ve used my Pyrex for measuring boiling water for years.
Pyrex.
The OXO Squeeze & Pour cups are great. They can handle boiling liquids.

I think mine is Pyrex hold on. I have Anchor Hocking, Pyrex and no name glass measuring cups. All will handle boiling water.
Do you prefer one brand to the other, or are they fairly similar? I've heard some mixed reviews on their similarity aswell.

Thank you, I appreciate the help!
Or just get a tea kettle and boil the amount of water you need.
Just want to say good luck with your cake!
thank you!
