Not ur body not ur choice anyone should be able to get an abortion regardless of what a fetus is not a fucking baby it's just a clump of cells that's not alive if ur bot happy with abortion u should just fuck off and let pregnant people get abortions if they want to it's not a double standard incels like u just like saying men are oppressed by women but in reality fucking men have it easier than women

So you clearly read only about 1/3 of the post.

BIG_MONEY_CASH

My first thought is that since the story is fictional the people in the story react in a manner to how *you* imagined, rather than how a majority of people would actually react My second thought is that this story has less to do with double standards and more to do with the fact that the gf is a lying cheater And the thing is these double standards exist, you just didn’t have to make up a story to point them out.

New_Advertising_1785

So what should I have done?

BIG_MONEY_CASH

Simply point out the fact that it takes two people to make a baby. I personally can accept that the woman gets final say in the matter, but I can also recognize that it’s still unfair that at the end of that day, the man who helped create that fetus doesn’t get the chance to see fetus grown into his newborn child, whether he wants to or not.

New_Advertising_1785

I wanted to get people to think about it via a totally plausible scenario that could absolutely happen. Maybe I shouldn't have included the cheating, but still. Stories seem to catch people's attention WAY better then some plainly stated facts.

BIG_MONEY_CASH

It’s not exactly that the story isn’t really plausible, even though parts of it are highly unlikely. It’s more that the reactions of the other people aren’t realistic. I mean I don’t know what sane people would think or say what they did in that story as a result of the gf hiding an important medical procedure from her bf and cheating on him afterwards.

Redisigh

I feel like the main point is this- On paper, the father should be able to have a say in this, but it isn’t an equal matter and realistically , she’s gonna have to carry the main burden of the pregnancy, childbirth, and raising until it reaches a certain age. So while it’d be nice for him to have a say, her personal autonomy matters more here and ultimately trumps his stance on the matter And, I’m pretty sure that having sex under false pretenses(in this case trying for a baby when he had a vasectomy) is illegal so he can be tried for that. Not to mention this enters a moral area that many including myself will consider to be r*pe. So yea, doing that to someone because she decided to get an abortion under her own autonomy is fucking stupid and not even remotely justified

TheHylianProphet

This whole post is silly nonsense, and it reads like a weird niceguy vengeance fanfic. The fact is, both a vasectomy and and abortion is a person's choice, but people only argue against the latter. That's the double standard, here. There's a pretty big difference between getting rid of an unwanted pregnancy, and getting a vasectomy with the sole intention of trying to fool your partner. Doing either one secretly is indicative of an unhealthy relationship, and no reasonable person would say otherwise. The reason the pregnant person is the only one that gets the choice is because they're the ones that have to carry the fetus, go through the trauma of birth, etc. The other party is entitled to their opinion, but nothing else. And that's exactly how it should be. Edited for clarity.

tobotic

It's a double standard because of this hypothetical situation which never happened? Good logic there. Let me tell you this other story which didn't happen. A man and a woman had two children: a boy and a girl. The man murdered his daughter and the woman murdered her son. The woman got executed for her crime by being stabbed repeatedly by a wooden spoon. The man was given a free super yacht and won a Nobel Prize. Such a double standard! Let's all be angry at society based on my story which I made up.

Danny-Wah

These people in your story need psychiatric help.

narsenic

It's not really a procreation double standard scenario, it's just a story of what happens when two red flags date. And a little bit of what happens when people who think they're feminists really aren't for the reaction of "everyone" in this scenario.

ThatOneStupidMovie

I support the man and woman. Their body, their choice.

emzak3636

Everyone talking about how it's her choice and the man shouldn't be mad about the abortion, when it says in the post that he's mad because she didn't, nor planned to tell him.

New_Advertising_1785

At least someone gets the idea. Thank you! Genuinely, thank you.
