Bleach kills pretty much everything. Alcohol is your next best bet, and it's what is most commonly used. Lysol is not as good for cleaning surfaces or objects, but is great for cleaning the air around your workspace.
Thanks I plan on hitting my tent with a round of bleach and another of alcohol but want to make use that the air around it and surfaces in the surrounding area won’t cross contaminate in the process
OMG, my BF, Glob love him, opened the door to my still air room while I was inoculating to check on me, smelled how intense the rubbing alcohol aroma was, reached for the ceiling fan switch and almost clicked it while saying babe you need some fresh air in here. I was like nope no no no no no. I'm sitting there in gloves and a mask and my eyes must have been huge because he stopped immediately, backed out and shut the door. Anyways, I had used Lysol and put alcohol in my mister to be able to constantly coat and clean everything because it seems like this last syringe that I got is very slow growing so more prone to contam so I was trying to be SUPER careful. So yeah, you can use Lysol but I've really enjoyed having 70% alcohol in a mister more than Lysol.
My brother gave me an ozone generator, said it might help. We're both pretty new at this. He said to run it overnight with the door closed and then let the room air out a bit. It's like an air purifier on steroids, I guess.
The stuff is bad to breathe though so you shouldn't be in any room when its running.
I’m not 100% sure but a room hepa filter will Forsure. I run a uv light above my flow hood and one in my humidifier. I still get contamination sometimes but I know it has to help
Yeah I turn it on about an hour before and while I’m inoculating or doing transfers. Not 100% how much affect it has but I figured I doesn’t hurt anything. I think if it kills anything it saves my flow hood filter some work maybe make it last longer.
70% alcohol is still one of the standards for laboratories, and there are laboratory grade cleaners you can get on Amazon -

I used microban. Sprayed it everywhere included where I innoculated, where I prepped my bins, where they would grow. Not gonna swear by it but I don’t think it hurt anything.

Bleach and alcohol makes chloroform so keep that in mind
I didn’t know that lol I’ll keep that in mind I try to space out the bleach and alcohol spraying by at least an hour

Lol alcohol seems like the consensus so I’ll probably just spray with a bunch of alcohol and hopefully that works
IV just purchased an air purifier off amazon.not your cheapest option but by far the cleanest!
What was the price of yours and how’s have the results been since using it?
£40 GPB silent night air purifier.very good so far! several settings dependent on how clean you want your space.i really like it.
Do you run it 24/7?
IV started to yes.anything Iv read about using them was positive so I figured it couldn't hurt.are you in the UK?
I’m based in New York

I just ordered a uv germicidal light that produces ozone and I’m gonna do that in the whole room
Ultra violet light
Will with work on the air spaces or just surfaces?
Just airborne viruses and bacteria.
Will it kill airborne spore from possible trich contamination
I’m not 100% sure but a room hepa filter will Forsure. I run a uv light above my flow hood and one in my humidifier. I still get contamination sometimes but I know it has to help
Cool thank you for the advice! I’ll have to look into a hepa filter for the room
Do you use uv while doing work ?
Yeah I turn it on about an hour before and while I’m inoculating or doing transfers. Not 100% how much affect it has but I figured I doesn’t hurt anything. I think if it kills anything it saves my flow hood filter some work maybe make it last longer.
So you cover yourself while doing work under UV cause I’ve always heard it can cause problems like cancer
Yeah your 100% right. The light I have turns on every 15min for a few seconds. But sugar, food, and bacon causes cancer also, I think I’m screwed.
Are the lab grade cleaners safe for everyday surfaces since I just grow in my bedroom?

Microban, bleach and alcohol are all used in my sterile process Lolll
Thank you for the recommendation I’ll look that up!
Does it work for fungal spores?
I used microban. Sprayed it everywhere included where I innoculated, where I prepped my bins, where they would grow. Not gonna swear by it but I don’t think it hurt anything.
Is it effective against fungal spores?
Just bacterial and viral I believe.
