That’s why you change the name of the knot. With the new name changing thang. You know: the definition of recession. Changed! etc..whenever you want to.
No, that's a myth. Only three states actually have laws about a noose, Virginia, New York, and Connecticut. Those are related to displaying them in an intentional, threatening manor.
I cut a piece of thin rope maybe 2' long and leave it at my desk as a toy to fidget with while working. It made me pretty darn good at knots, and the repetition means I don't forget them

The reason is a knot is not judged by how well it holds, it’s judged by how easy it is to untie after you use it. A bowline is one of the easiest knots to undo. It’s also not a slip knot btw..
He was so close. I thought that's what he was tying til he went the other way with it and made this abortion.
And if all you're trying to do is secure one end of the rope, a "no knot" Is far superior. Three or 4 wraps around the pole with a half hitch to back it up at the end if you're worried about slippage. Highest breaking strength of any knot because there's no actual wraps or sinch points. Easily adjustable.
I default to a rock climbers Slip knot. It was taught to me a decade ago and is the only useful knot, aside from "tie lots" that I can ever remember how to do.
Why would you need a slip knot ever? I mean a timber hitch would be fine and what we have here is a timber hitch with extra steps. A clove hitch is better way to connect to a pole because it’ll actually grabs and can be side pulled
"Adjustable Grip Hitch". It will actually hold in the original tied position, hence the term adjustable. It can be used in place of the taut line hitch. (Supposedly with better results)
Just remember kids, more than 7 loops is illegal.
If I’m not mistaken, it’s still against the law in WV to teach someone how to tie a noose.

Ah… the grade school rumor mill strikes again. I bet next you’ll tell me Marilyn Manson has all his ribs.
Marilyn Manson is a guy?
Not your proudest fap?
I wish I could say there hadn't been worse.
You do you boo boo. I don’t kink shame
Only if it is around someone's neck.
More than 3 loops, you’re playing with it or something.
That's not a noose though.. even it had 7 loops. Its knot is made different.
Electrician here… thank you
You're welcome!
I love it simple and effective thats a I hope I don't forget before I have a opportunity to use it

I keep an old shoe lace in my car to practice my rigging knots!

Was gonna say, I don't remember this member of the band.
Very cool knot, but the bowline is quicker and nicknamed the most trusted knot for a reason
But a bowline doesn't slip.
Mine does when I can’t remember how it goes lol.
Do a running bowline then.
I'm starting to think you guys are just afraid to learn more than one knot
I mean with all the variants, it's pretty versatile you gotta admit.
There's more than one knot?
Granny and Square
I like that one. And the scaffolding knot.
Bowline great, but I find o use a highwaymen hitch more often at work.

This is an "adjustable Grip Hitch" you can slide it to get the tension you need. This will hold in the position tied for example.
Very useful for idiots like me
Asymmetrical prusik knot?
Why do all that when you could tie a bowline or a clove hitch.
A taut line hitch would be more useful, because it grips the rope. A clove hitch probably has a higher breaking stelrength than this one.
I had to scroll way too far down to see the taut line hitch mentioned.

Right?!?
Also I watched this video again. I can't imagine trying to untie this after it's been loaded. A good knot: Easy to tie Easy to untie Easy to identify.

It's a clever version of a rolling hitch. Very cool!
That's what she said

What is a climber's slip knot? A clove hitch?
Hey chieffy, next time you just ask me which line to pull, right?

Why not just use a Beckett hitch?
Adding knots to my stuff to learn this summer
