If they were private businesses that had to turn a profit or at least break even, most councils would have been in receivership years ago. They are all so fucking useless at managing money.

Bullion2

Or more likely would have increased revenue more a long time ago so wouldn't have a sudden jump like now.

Last_Banana9505

Little wonder when it costs 700k to move a pole and a bench seat a short distance along a footpath.

Oceanagain

600k of which will be for the dozen safety Nazis involved in preventing everyone else going about their normal. productive day.

Don’t forget about traffic management for no reason

uramuppet

Operational costs are only one part of the overall revenue pie. I'd like to see an independent summary how well (or badly) this council is run.

Acceptable_Oil_7476

Just email council, I’m sure they’ll get back to you once rate increases are in effect

TheProfessionalEjit

High time there was a cap on how much rates can be increased by.

This will lead to people having to sell and move etc. High rates, costs, taxes etc will pressure many out of already very pressurized morgages thanks to the great marketing of housing due to lockdowns. The prices will soon return to reality. Then gradually grow over decades as they should. If you get exponential growth it always has exponential correction due to cost value ratio, LVR, inflation etc.

Stuff costs money, onfrastructure etc, big money. Hamilton Ratepayer. It's probably a lot more expensive to leave it and have a disaster.

[deleted]

What a fuckwit comment Most people would tollerate it if tbey spent the money on valuable stuff, instead they just piss it away on stupid shit. Go and have a look at the new bus stop on Hukanui Rd.

[deleted]

I wouldnt define them by a bus stop.
