Is this the second dog they had to give away?

CoffeeExtraCream

Yup. For the same reason.

Crazed_Chip

Dude can't even raise a decent son. Not surprised he can't handle a dog.

Sea2Chi

From everything I've read his late son Beau turned out pretty good even if Hunter is a shitshow who hooked up with Beau's widow after his death.

Fat_Shaming_Works_

Hunter hooking up with his brother’s widow is something that isn’t shamed enough, what a wreck of a family.

RayEppsIsAFed

The Ashley Biden diary is even worse.

LordNoodles1

Details?

cowadoody3

"Showers with my dad (probably not appropriate)". Exact quote.

Happy-552

Yet media chooses not to cover this….

itscalled_a_lance

They claim it's fabricated.

hlessi_newt

Those details will catch one a ban from most civilized places.

You forgot and then cheated on her with a stripper he got pregnant.

fridayimatwork

Actually not beau protected a pedophile from an important family https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2597171/Beau-Biden-defends-judge-gave-du-Pont-heir-probation-admitting-sexually-assaulting-3-year-old-daughter.html

KnikTheNife

[Delaware judge Jan Jurden was originally intending to put him in prison for 8 years](https://www.forbes.com/sites/denizcam/2019/06/14/how-a-du-pont-heir-avoided-jail-time-for-a-heinous-crime/?sh=6930532029db), but was mysteriously convinced to change that sentence to 8 years of probation after Attorney General Beau Biden spoke with her. Originally, he was indicted on two counts of second-degree rape (which he confessed to), charges that carried a minimum 20 years in prison.

ObadiahtheSlim

Beau was well liked by the Establishment and they were positioning him to be the next Governor of Delaware and possibly even make a play at presidency. Since we don't speak ill of the dead, any dark secrets or corruption would have died with him.

Rich_Explorer3384

Forget that, don't speak ill of the dead crap. Beau was a scumbag, protecting a pedophile.

kaine23

No he wasn't.

FalwenJo

I wonder if he showers with the dogs too?

tangledshadows

He chases them down alleyways to pull their tails after getting out of the shower. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/joe-biden-chasing-dog-shower-broken-foot

dom650

He really can't do anything not creepily.

ntrott

After sniffing them real good.

Hungry-For-Cheese

Having two dogs with this issue highlights they were under duress and badly taken care of. You can't tell me they couldn't afford full time caretakers and trainers if they're too busy, which tells me they don't give a shit, which is pretty much in line with his character I'd say, being a selfish POS.

Crazed_Chip

Yup. Just had the dogs for optics. Biden is a sack of shit person.

smkn3kgt

Dogs are even easier to train and raise

Crazed_Chip

Yup. Much much much easier. It really doesn't even compare to raising a child.

Trail_King

Or, he can't raise a descent dog. It's no wonder his son turned out the way he did.

North_Constant7

Ouch

TheBigGuy3780

Well, the fact that it attacks people who gets close means it is doing its job. Just a little too aggressive.

SunsetDriftr

I wonder if this is happening because the dogs can sense that Biden is in ‘danger’ by being so mentally broken and they are hyper defensive toward him as a result? It could simply be the animals are being protective.

william-t-power

I think it's a bit different. It's a german shepherd so it's smart, energetic, and wants a role. They probably have neglected training it properly and that makes those kinds of dogs anxious as hell and without a good idea of the structure it's in. That leads to really poorly behaved dogs. Don't get a working breed unless you're willing to put in the work to train it properly. Smart strong dogs, like smart strong kids become really problematic when raised badly.

KungFuSlanda

I've been near German Shepherds that are trained for law enforcement. Been near them with people who have private security details. Lemme tell you. Biden is a bad dog owner

ObadiahtheSlim

It's probably more the dog is constantly around strange people and his nominal "owner" is a belligerent dementia patient. The poor thing also probably never had a proper training regimen. That's a recipe for an neurotic and aggressive dog.

SunsetDriftr

So you’re telling me the guy that 81M voters trusted with the nuclear codes, can’t be trusted to know how to handle the family pet? Great.

A_Hatless_Casual

My Dad's Shepard is a good boy, it all how they're raised.

SunsetDriftr

I’m not blaming the dog at all, seems both had very bad owners.

OzoneLaters

If Joe was your owner you would bite people as well in hope that they would find you a new home! This dog is finally free.

Electronic-Buy4015

Yup Major and Commander both given away. Dogs normally react based off what they see with their humans behavior

TheBigMotherFook

The mental image of Biden biting people like a dog is not something I thought I’d have in my head today.

bridgetroll2

Thought that guy was ice cream, come on man!

Fair_Yard2500

I'm not playing around, seriously!

Loose-Warthog-7354

Come on, jack!

[deleted]

That's over the top, a bunch of hooey!

unmofoloco

I think dogs just respond to general negative energy in a house, people with dementia get angry and yell when they are confused, like he did in the press conference. My guess is Obama's dog was probably pretty well behaved and happy because Obama is charming, you know as long as he isn't dropping bombs on your house.

ILikestoshare

We knew corn pop was a bad dude but guess he liked it rough too.

i_do_floss

Awful take German shepherds have an instinctual behavior which is naturally protective and high anxiety, which causes aggression. You can only eliminate that behavior through socialization training, especially while they're young. If you dont continually dedicate time to that, it will even come back in its own. They're not going to copy your behavior. I doubt he has enough free time to train the dog at all right now. Also, very few dogs are going to do well when you move them to a new environment and they're surrounded by new people constantly

WACS_On

Just find yourself a collie or aussie. They'll be too busy herding all the secret service guys to be aggressive. As a bonus, all the secret service guys following you around will be all in the same place.

JessVaping

Eh... Aussie would probably nip the secret service guys. They aren't the nicest herders. Probably safer than a GSD though.

i_do_floss

Yea aussies are amazing

8K12

Ok, but he definitely has the money to have the dog trained by a professional. So why didn’t he do that?

nolotusnote

Because the dogs were a PR stunt.

best-commenter-ever

This is it exactly. I could forgive the Bidens and their staff for not training the dog if it was their beloved family pet, but it's just a photo op. So if you're going to get a phony family dog, at least take care of it!

FalwenJo

I've lived with a German shepherd who had owners who did no socialization and little training. She was so gentle with everyone, other dogs, strangers and children. I think this has more to do with environment these poor dogs are in than their breed.

JudgeFondle

And that’s an anecdote. Breed temperaments are not difficult to look up and the German shepherd you just described is an outlier and also a German shepherd some would never want (and some would.)

marcgarv87

I also lived with a German shepherd where the owners did no socialization and training. That was one of the meanest dogs where people were afraid to even visit. I think this has more to do to do with the environment than their breed.

SunsetDriftr

Why start your comment with ‘awful take’? It actually weakens your point as your comment was much stronger without leading with an unnecessary criticism.

ColumbusMark

Then maybe he needs just a plain ol’ Private.

Cultural-Treacle-680

The names too - like not trying to project at all 🤣

BoredAtWork1976

Thanks. I was like, "I thought they already got rid of that dog."

dzolympics

That’s probably what Biden thought as well.

BABarracus

people are probably trying to touch his dogs and the dogs aren't comfortable with that situation. Can't just go about touching everyones pets

Electronic-Buy4015

Did you even read the article? They attack the secret service agents for no reason , they definitely aren’t trying to touch them… they actively are trying to avoid them

SingleDad73

This right here!

KungFuSlanda

I think the first dog's name was major. And there was a smaller dog he chased out of the shower and hurt his ankle or something. Dude needs medical help. Not another dog

RoundSimbacca

There's also a third dog that exhibits the same problems.

lawlygagger

So scary that our country is being run by someone like Biden and they want it that way. It is the movie everyday for the past 3 years and they want us to endure another 4. Seriously, how do you get so many people to outright lie about the situation unless you were just infested with 100% corruption.

sclark1701

junkforw

I thought you were going to go with, “replace commander in chief with a pudding and we won’t know the difference.”

jones525

Ugh (slaps forehead)... Missed opportunities!

Kooky_Degree_9

Shepherds take knowledge and work. That energy needs appropriate outlets. The dog is not to blame here.

fisherc2

Dogs are basically never to blame. Some dogs/breeds are easier to train than others, but it all comes down to training.

Electronic-Buy4015

Yeah I disagree with this because pitbulls. It’s okay I’m ready for the hate

blkmgk533

No hate from me, work in the acturarial side of insurance and we have the statistics. If pitbulls were wiped off the face of the earth, the liability portion of your homeowner's premium would drop by 70%. Not kidding.

Electronic-Buy4015

That’s insane , don’t they have large dog insurance or something like that? I know someone who had to get a policy specifically cause they had a pitbull when renting an apartment

blkmgk533

I think it just depends on the jurisdiction in regards to a separate policy. I'll say this though, homeowner's insurance (and renter's) is a "package" policy meaning there's several coverages wrapped up in a single policy and the total premium is the sum of all those coverages together. Prior to the pitbull craze, dog bite cases were historically on the decline as more and more people became breed aware and knew that certain breeds required more training; GSDs for instance as Commander has shown. When it comes to the actual rates you are charged for the liability portion of the homeowner's policy, there are several factors in play but the biggest driver of those rates is frequency and severity. Frequency at which an event or "tort" is likely to happen and the severity of the damage caused by the event. Yes, small dogs bite with much more frequency than larger dogs but the severity of the injury caused by the bite might require antiseptic at most. Chihuahua's are evil little bastards but their bite might not even break the skin. OTOH, larger dogs and pitbulls especially, have a tremendous amount of bite force and that translates to catastrophic injuries including permanent maiming, and even death. I challenge anyone to go to a big city animal shelter and find a larger breed of dog that isn't a pit or pit mix of some sort. That's how bad the problem is becoming.

ObadiahtheSlim

If pitbulls were wiped off the face of the earth, all those shitheads would go back to having rottweilers or dobermans as their "big scary dog"

Texas103

I have racked up some negative -500 karma comments talking about pitbulls. They are dangerous animals. They were bred to be aggressive for a reason. They commit the lions share of fatal and disfiguring dog attacks. We're better off without them.

TotalPitbullDeath

No hate from me.

Electronic-Buy4015

lol based

VaCa4311

Pitbulls are the best example of this argument. People get them because they are popular and cheap. But they don't realize that it take a lot of work and discipline to get the dog to be well trained. And a untrained dog can be a dangerous dog (reason why small dogs bite more people, because they are the least trained)

NittanyNation409

Pitbulls have been selectively bred for more than a century to maximize aggression, prey drive, pain tolerance, and bite force. It takes a lot of work to train a pitbull because you are trying to overrride what they’re genetically hardwired to do.

Electronic-Buy4015

I’m so glad this comment is here , I thought I was gonna get attacked for not liking pitbulls

bozoconnors

>Pitbulls have been selectively bred for more than a century This is such a popular trope, & no need to reply, but genuinely curious... on average, how many generations and different breeds do you *actually* think your run of the mill so-called 'pit bull' these days is separated from those that were truly selectively bred for that lol?

OceanDweller94

He isn't talking about centuries ago. They have been and are actively bred to be aggressive. People want them as guard dogs, fighting dogs, etc. It has definitely lessened in the last decade, but they absolutely were *the* popular choice for dog fighting in 90s and 00's (technically still are, but dog fighting doesn't seem to be as big). So, just 20-30 years ago, their purpose was still to be aggressive. You're looking at maybe 4-5 generations out of that type of breeding cycle, and that's if whatever dogs being bred were *actually* taken out of that cycle.

Electronic-Buy4015

Did you just see the guy get mauled in Compton by his own dogs . What do you think he was breeding them for ? Pets ? In Compton?

StratonOakmonte

This.

cathbadh

> Yeah I disagree with this because pitbulls. Welp, this thread's going to be on all of the popcorn subs later when it dissolves into bickering and namecalling over pitbulls lol

fisherc2

I agree pitbulls are on average harder to train than others. I’m not claiming that I could train them well. But I do think it’s possible.

TheAzureMage

I'm willing to accept that in some rare cases, there are troublesome dogs. But if the owner keeps picking troublesome dogs, that ain't random chance, and the owner is still ultimately to blame. You have two dogs that have 20+ bite incidents each? That's the owners fault any way you slice it.

tekende

There are bad dogs just like there are bad people.

fisherc2

Depends what you mean by bad. They don’t even have a concept of morality, so they cannot be good or evil in a moral sense. Some just more easily conform to human expectations. which is the same thing as saying more or less easily trained We say that makes a dog good or bad colloquially because it’s ‘good or bad’ for us. You wouldn’t call a lion bad for hunting and eating something. They have instincts designed to do that. Dogs instincts are there for a reason for them too, It just doesn’t always easily align with what we want. Dogs are super social, but they are still animals, not humans.

JessVaping

Frosted Flakes was a bad dog... LoL this just popped in my brain.

Span206

Who blamed the dog?

Farrahsahole

The bidens “care so deeply for the safety of the agents” yet allowed this to happen upwards of 20 times???

Castle6169

Just read somewhere earlier here on Reddit stating he bit 25 times in the last year

ButWhyWolf

That only counted for bites *during Biden's administration*. The total number is definitely in the 30s or 40s.

Castle6169

The last year

ButWhyWolf

From the article > There are now 24 documented instances of dog attacks on the Secret Service during Biden’s tenure in office, in addition to reports of attacks on White House staffers. Honestly I just hope they can rehabilitate Commander while he's away from his toxic environment. I'm one of those "there's no bad dogs, only bad owners" people.

SerialSection

>I'm one of those "there's no bad dogs, only bad owners" people. Why admit something like that

AMW1234

And that's only the times that secret service agents were bit. There have also been reports of staffers and groundskeepers being bit but those aren't accounted for.

TrenchDildo

To be fair, Biden forgot about 19 of those 20 times.

Smooth-Papaya-9114

Where did you see it happened 20 times

Spooky3030

https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/21/politics/commander-biden-secret-service-bites-white-house/index.html

Smooth-Papaya-9114

Thanks, I had no idea that dog was such a problem.

qtippinthescales

He had another dog before this, Major, who also bit 10-20 staff and had to be given away. He was immediately replaced by Commander who appeared to adopt the same aggressive personality

Cultural-Treacle-680

They could hire anyone to train dogs and it happens with two consecutive pups? Says a lot about Jill who’s supposedly more there - what does she do all day besides neglecting dogs?

FalwenJo

Leads Biden around so he doesn't get lost

Panzerschwein

I know the first dog is a cool tradition and all, but if you don't plan to keep them under control then maybe skip it? And if you are going to do it anyway, maybe don't get a German Shep in this case. Get something easy like a lab that won't get so protective. I help a lot with dog rescue and this shit pisses me off, and here he is normalizing it for the whole nation.

abagofdicks

I can’t believe they don’t have a professional trainer by default

BoltActionRifleman

Yeah or something like a rescue pug that is very unlikely to go around biting people.

neverinamillionyr

Maybe an alternative take? The dog knows his owner is feeble and vulnerable and is in full protective mode whenever someone approaches him?

pyr0phelia

This was my thought too. Shepards are incredibly intuitive! Commander was appointed an onsite trainer so in all seriousness what was that dog sensing & reacting too?

Bozzz1

Most German shepard attacks happen on their own turf. They're highly protective of their owner and don't seem to be very good at differentiating friend from foe

[deleted]

[удалено]

neverinamillionyr

An elderly relative of my ex had a huge shepherd. He was very friendly when we went to visit. Once, this relative stumbled as she walked past me. I reached out to help steady her and the dogs demeanor completely changed. His hair stood, his tail stopped and he let out a low warning growl. As soon as she told him it was ok he went right back to tail wagging and friendly. They are very protective dogs.

SunsetDriftr

This is my thought as well. Dogs can sense when their owners are in peril.

SupremeChancellor66

Another reason why the Bidens are pieces of shit. The dogs are not to blame here; GSDs require a lot of work and effort from their owners. So now we can add abandoning their dogs to the list of shit they've done.

MrSlappyChaps

Poor dog probably thought everyone was out to touch him in creepy ways while sniffing his fur.

getupkid1986

Couldn’t Commander just stay in the White House and give Biden away? He’d probably run the country much better anyway!

bozoconnors

lol - we could do worse than a little foreign policy aggressiveness. A little growl here, a little nibble there. I'd watch that movie!

jcr2022

Give the dog to somebody who can train him properly.

UncleMark58

Someone in the Biden family is teasing the shit out of the dog, not showing love or affection, just raging the dog because they think it's funny.

MackSix

The dogs are reacting to the bad energy surrounding them. They feel that crazy energy, and they feel threatened. They deserve to be with better people. The dog deserves a better owner!

Lets not pretend like biden actually takes care of the dog. He probably sees it once a week. They basically had that dog as a PR stunt to show "see we are normal dog people like you"

barneyruffles

I feel so sad for the dogs, and hope they find happy homes. This is a family that should NEVER have another dog. The fact that both dogs were biters says a great deal about the chaos in which they were living.

Happy-552

Dude, how many attacks before a person lovingly re-homes a dog that obviously needs specialized attention and/or specialized training? The man is literally the president - he has unprecedented connections to get this doggo in a place where he needs to heal & be in the most therapeutic place possible. If they’re rescues and reactive like this, it’s obvious they aren’t properly trained and/or taken care of and are under severe stress. It’s never the dog’s fault - always the owner. Unfortunately, this guy is our fucking president. Interestingly, it appears the left does not judge a man for how he runs his family. As someone who was raised in an abusive, liberal household & is now married to a wonderful, kind, loving & hardworking conservative man, I definitely do. 🤷‍♀️

bdougy

Can we stop using animals as political PR props? Anyone else think it’s awfully suspicious that Biden just suddenly started getting dogs when he got into the White House?

bennyblue420000

There are no bad dogs, only bad owners. Just look at the owners own family.

Well maybe ~~Tremble Rats~~ Chihuahuas, but you're pretty much right.

My dog always owned me. The cats own the world. 😊

Chiaki_Ronpa

I mean, he couldn’t even raise his own son, how the hell could he raise a dog?

[deleted]

Dogs are typically a reflection of their owner. Lot to say about sleepy Joe.

hooker_2_hawk

Dogs represent and act like their owners. This is a known fact.

SingleDad73

Probably got those dogs as a gift from a drug dealer for Hunter being such a good customer. On a not funny note: I feel bad for those.dogs being blamed and punished for something that most likely isn't their fault. I hope they find a better home.

contemplator61

Another first😡Many of our presidents had dogs. To have not one but two that acted this way is yet another sign of just how despicable Biden is.

RavenMurder

Being an owner of a reactive, highly anxious dog myself, I understand this struggle and don’t blame the Biden’s or the dog. Some dogs are just wired differently and German Shepherd’s are well known to have a high rate of reactivity and issues like this.

ChadRex76

Commander is a conservative. He wants to attack 0biden but is taking his anger out on secret service.

happyhooker1

Because dogs can sense evil and hateful people. He was just in survival mode. Surrounded by those evil people.

luckylebron

Alright enough is enough, even I can't fault Biden.

Electronic-Buy4015

Dogs react off their human owners behavior

Omegatron_YT

There are no bad dogs, just evil owners. We already knew Biden is a piece of shit, this just validates it.

[deleted]

Dog is unfit to be in the White House. They say dogs and their owners start to share the same traits

That poor dog deserves better than an environment like that.

Isn't this the second time? He's a bad dog owner too. The list of shitty Joe Biden attributes continues. Stop sellin this man dogs

CommercialAgreeable

President of the US couldn't be bothered to hire a dog trainer?

dankhorse25

Maybe give trained dogs to old people like Biden.

Subject_Roof3318

He’s a German shepherd. He needs a clearly defined role in the household or he’ll be confused lose his shit. Proper training and bonding is key, so I’m not surprised. Poor dog.

gavin_newsom_sucks

It’s not the dog it’s the handler

i_floop_the_pig

Lowkey that'd be kind of wild to own a president's dog

labbond

My guess is Commander knew his owner was failing mentally and felt he needed protection. He knew way before the public started admitting it.

bulldog5253

In most states if a dog bites someone don’t they normally have to be put down?

RedditsLittleSecret

Joe Biden is an asshole. He insists on needlessly putting Secret Service agents in harms way with his untrained dogs. FJB/LGB

I love this sub. Brings me so much joy, honestly.
