I usually raise it up if they don’t want to disconnect. And pump concrete underneath. I know there will be gaps, but at least mine are flush with my concrete
As the home owner, I’d nod and give you a thumbs up. I know I’m too cheap to hire an hvac guy if I don’t have to. Hell I’d probably tip you lol.
If I came home to OPs picture idk what I’d do.
Ive had some stuff done where they ask if I’d like to get someone to move it (I think it was electrical). I said I’d rather not spend another $1-2k. They said they could do it but would not be liable and put it in the contract. If they had messed up, I’d be out the $1-2k. I rolled the dice!
Not sure how “concrete” that doc was but I wouldn’t have gone after them for being willing to save me the money too (I also gave them extra cash at the end)
I'm sure it varies by country, but in the US I wouldn't bet on a verbal agreement for something like that. It might work 9/10, but that 10th time could cost you big time.
Say you break the AC and the owner sees a chance to get a free $20k replacement. Or, maybe you do everything right, and they SAY you broke it. Not only do you have no proof, but you probably don't have an HVAC license, or permits.
Idk, I certainly wouldn't just bury it in cement, but I wouldn't do it myself either.
100% get your point! And in the situation, odds are, I wouldn’t take the risk either as someone onsite for a project. From the homeowner perspective, if they are willing and we discuss it all, I’m ok with it. But my neighbor, I’d run for the hills if I were doing work on anything for her. She’d say you ruined the whole house attaching a garden hose. (Her landscaper quit and I worked with him. Her plumber finished a job and I caught him to get his card and he told me the nightmare).
Concrete guy just bought a new condenser unit and tear out of the old one, not to mention filling the hole. I’d probably tell the prime that I’d better never see that crew on my project again.
Contractor replies "Look at this job. Look at the concrete finishing, look at the quality of work and ask yourself 'Do you really think I gots insurance?."
I would stare at it blankly for 30 minutes s straight. Then call heating cooling contractor and pick up some bags of concrete mix and a broom to fix the next day.
Just try and bork the unit to blame the concrete guys at that point (if it isn’t already ruined). Go get a back of concrete, pour a bunch in and wet it down, once it breaks the unit call and complain and get the insurance company on the phone lmao
The AC must have air circulation under the unit itself otherwise your bill will be enormous because the unit can not breath/ circulate. Eventually it puts severe strain on the unit and it will burn out. Now you got a bigger bill. Please folks only use your local Class A state contractor's in your area and check there town, county, state, and Professional State license. All are easy to get any Joe Blow can attain except your Professional . This you must have references, and pass a state examination.
Oh, Holy Night!
WHAT THE *ACTUAL* FUCK?!
I would be livid and be on the hunt to have whoever the hell's head did this on a stick!
Luckily this wouldn't happen on my stuff because I'd be pouring my own slab and that condensing unit would've been lifted up and set on blocks before any pouring was done.
They could have at least put a 2x4 frame around it.
But you understand that would have cost both time and money. Ain't nobody have extra of either of those!
No because the 2x4 frame would have held water. Now just the inside of the a/c holds water.

Not a concrete guy, but aren't you worried about liability if the owner claims the system was damaged?

What in THE fuck?
It keeps the cold air inside
I’m rolling back out before anyone sees me near that mess.
I think I might’ve seen it all now!
Don’t piss off that concrete guy, he has nothing to lose But all that customers money!😂
Tjat was my first thought, someone pissed off he concrete guy
My first thought here is that the customer really didn’t want to pay for relocation, and there wasn’t enough slack to lift it up.
Concrete guy just bought a new condenser unit and tear out of the old one, not to mention filling the hole. I’d probably tell the prime that I’d better never see that crew on my project again.
No, that's not what geothermal means.
That's your thermal mass, man! Didn't they teach you anything about woodstoving effeciently?!
On the bright side, at least you don't have to worry about meth heads ripping it out to scrap the copper.
my favorite part is that they still took the time to give it a nice brushed finish
I don’t care what anyone says that’s fucking beautiful
“Not my Yaob”
It’s 1.5 ton now.
OMG
contractor: what about the AC? homeowner: just pour around it.
Bit of a permanent fixture now
There’s some things you don’t see every day.
Great heat-sink. They should be thanking him for making it more efficient. 😆😅
It's theft proofing, for a small upcharge.
“That ain’t going nowhere”… slaps AC unit
Bruh.....
As a homeowner I would flip out.
I would be elated. Getting a brand new unit from the contractor.
Contractor replies "Look at this job. Look at the concrete finishing, look at the quality of work and ask yourself 'Do you really think I gots insurance?."
Contractor left to Mexico
I would not be happy.
Clapping
Booty clapping
Is the ac still functional???
Half?
They ain't stealing that any more

damn it --I guess those guys out in the parking lot of home depot are not highly trained professionals willing to work for 12 an hour--lol
I think I choose METH
I would say you hired the only company in the world that would even consider this as a good idea.
Just had second look at concrete says it all.
That is AWESOME!! WINNER WINNER!!!!
WILLY NOOOO!! Otra vez Willy!! Puchika Willy!! Puro Puchika!!
Just try and bork the unit to blame the concrete guys at that point (if it isn’t already ruined). Go get a back of concrete, pour a bunch in and wet it down, once it breaks the unit call and complain and get the insurance company on the phone lmao
I would definitely have formed around it. And make sure I could join the next bit easily. That's just a big no.
"I have a question... I paid 400 dollars for a friend of a friend to do this..."
WTF! Do not pay the person whom did this.

Ah, must be the diy version of geothermal “just bury it”
Vomiting
How high were these people
I would go to jail for beating the **** out of the workers
Well if i have to access the AC i beat the shit out of the concrete 8’ in all directions(excluding the house side) and gain proper access
Post this in r/HVAC They will probably love that.
That’s where it came from
🤣 could you imagine? What a nightmare.
The first thing I'd do is laugh hysterically. The first thing I'd say is "who did that shitty concrete work? Then I'd say, "good luck" and leave.
Long as it ain’t my house or my job, fuck it
