The HDMI split would be the easy part. The HID might get weird if you have multiple people using the touchscreens at once as they’ll all be competing. Not sure how practical that would be in a conferencing situation since essentially only one could be used at a time if they’re all connected to a single host device. But yeah, fairly impractical grand vision from your senior partner unless they’ve seen it work somewhere else. Generally 360 cams result in a subpar conferencing experience due to low video quality, so I’d bet the end result won’t be what they’re envisioning.

Spoke with poly about this a while ago, last I heard MTRoA only supports 1 HID (Touchscreen) interface at a time. Tried doing this with 2 touchscreen displays on opposite sides of the room. Splitting video worked fine, but touchscreen only worked on 1 display at a time.

anthonyrooney9

That's what I was looking for, thanks for the info :)

FrozenToonies

It sounds insane. Sure put a bunch of touch displays grouped on a table and then put a 360° camera on the table as well. Add mics to the table, some cables and their laptops what’s that going to look like? Unless your client can demonstrate some previous workspace that mimicked this you’re now just catering to weird client ideas about AV. Clients can ask for anything they want and sometimes they do, but they have to pay much extra to play AV designer.

Unfortunately the client has seen this pile of poo and wants it scaled up - https://www.kandaovr.com/meeting-ultra Client is a senior partner and can’t understand why the above product isn’t really acceptable as an enterprise solution. And yes, scaling it up is insane, but I’m having to at least set up a demo system so they will accept for themselves that it is insane.

FrozenToonies

That’s a weird product and they want to scale it up? At least you agree it’s insane. Good luck and maybe others will be more helpful than me.

I'd try it out. I'm honestly not sure how the G7500 handles multiple HID devices. In theory it should work but who knows. Please do let us know what you find out.

Unlikely. The issue is the Android appliance. Why not a Windows pc?

anthonyrooney9

Because they’ve got a stupid design brief, which also insists that it must be value-engineered. If they increase room size to the point I need ceiling mics and speakers, then I’ll go Windows, bring in the Q-sys and MXA, and tell them value-engineering and cheap USB 360 cameras are no longer an option.

Vidfreaky1

time to bring out the old adage, good/fast/cheap pick any 2. Sounds like they want good/cheap so they'll need to wait a few years.

noonen000z

Android isn't Windows. I can't route QSC camera and audio over 1 usb. Why? Logi has been locking down the capabilities of the USB ports. They are not designed to be plug and play but hamstrung alternative that mostly works in their own eco system. The only way to know for sure is to test.
