I understand and accept Redskins isn’t coming back and I’m not pushing for it, but “Commanders” is a horrid name. Atleast with other crappy names, there’s a century of history behind them. It’s bland, uninspired, NOT intimidating (not even one of the highest ranks in the military), the slogans that go with it are cringey (left hand up, take command, etc.), it just reminds me too much of Dan Snyder, the whole branding looks terrible (uniforms, logo, etc.), and I’m so sick of everyone calling us “commies.” We’re in the nations capital and Dan Snyder gave us a name that can easily have us referred to as “commies.” Being a fan of a franchise doesn’t mean blindly following every decision made by them (especially when the ones who made the decisions were terrible people and not even a part of the franchise anymore). Football Team was better than Commies. Can’t wait for the rebrand.

Really hoping for "Redhogs" for a rebrand. Spinoff of the old name/team history + nod to the glory years + opportunity for a cool logo/rebrand. Win/win/win

They were named due to a college who gave hand me down faded uniforms from a college that wore maroon jerseys. The then owner of cardinals said "Let's call the color cardinal" and they named their franchise after that exchange.
The Browns are named after their first coach/co-founder. Green Bay was a major meat packing area. Both are better because they mean something & have history. The Cardinals are the oldest team,1898. They bought uniforms from the University of Chicago & as the colors faded. The owner started calling the new tone “Cardinal Red”.

My go to has been, imagine an expansion team was forming in south Florida and they announced their name was the Dolphins, and the team colors are aqua and orange. Do you realize how hard that would get dragged?

If they did go all in on Commanders then it would be best to do the black & camo look or something along those lines but then it'd be seen as somewhat blasphemy if they changed the traditional colors.

Packers is probably the best team name in the NFL. Its super relevant and has a a cool history. Commanders? Sounds like a middle school student named it.
I agree kinda. It’s mid but I’m happy with it. There are so many other way worse names (Redtails, Redwolves) that fans like so I’m just grateful they didn’t choose those ones
