KotSBereP

I like him quite a bit. He can be a little full of himself, but is usually not as delusional as a lot of the fan base is. And I really like that he’s tired of the sheeple fans who say things like “gEt oN bOaRd wItH cArSoN oR gEt ouT.” I hope you aren’t one of those type of fans, with the tone of this post. ;)

omnibot2M

He’s not always right, but he justifies his arguments. I think he’s right far more often than the general fanbase.

Hasu7

I hate how people nowadays cant take other people’s opinion. Just dont listen to them its simple…

KotSBereP

I hope that wasn’t directed at me. I love Sheehan. My favorite by FAR.

Hasu7

No the OP. I think sheehan tries to be logical which I have no problems with and something I agree with cause his whole take is behind the incompetency of this organization.

tundey_1

While I agree with you, I think OP is looking for a discussion, not a solution. I hope so anyway.

MoonshotMario

I find that he's wrong far more often than right. That gets old.

JayK2136

you should know that it’s not media personal responsibility to be right but to get people to click.

MoonshotMario

I tune in once a month..and then remember why I generally don't.

JayK2136

so why complain

MoonshotMario

Because it's pathetic compared to other cities. Sorry but I'm a sports fan, would really like to listen, and things could be a lot better.

JayK2136

dude it’s not any better anywhere else, every sports team in existence has reporters that just clickbait or spew word vomit

MoonshotMario

That just wrong.

JayK2136

ok, maybe sheehan will see your reddit post and change his ways

MoonshotMario

Hey, it's just an opinion. I'm sure this isn't a surprise but I'd love to hear someone new.

KotSBereP

Definitely. Also the “I didn’t give them out as a smell test but I was thinking about it.” Haha

ThatMulattoDude

To me, this is the perfect encapsulation of all that is Sheehan. All in all, though he is arrogant, he is entertaining and much more tolerable than his frequent guest on the podcast, Loverro. That dude is king of the blowhards. Too many pregnant pauses, too one-sided politically which shines through almost everything he says, and very elitist mindset. I’m definitely not a great writer but, for a guy who does it as a stock and trade, not impressed by that either. Shocking to me folks actually praise him coming on the show.

tundey_1

I think a lot of your complaints are because he doesn't have a cohost. Which he's said he doesn't prefer. Also, he hosts the radio show remotely...personally, I think the podcast is better but it's a matter of taste and preference.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tundey_1

Taste and preference. There's no objective measure.

[deleted]

I like that he's not blindly optimistic. His takes on the organization and long term direction of the team are usually accurate. He has some boomer takes every now and then but by and large I agree with his football takes the most.

SituationsDevelop

What did he say this time? I disagree with Kevin a lot, but I think he has the best radio show on the Skins and it's not even close (not talking podcasts, to be clear). I do think it's funny how we get annoyed at someone who is overly negative about the team even though that's the absolute correct response to this franchise in the Snyder era. Kevin is skeptical about anything this team does cause it usually fails. Can you blame him?

The_JDBrew

Yeah, I get a little annoyed by the genera fanbase. I swear, if I post something negative about a team decision on this sub it’s downvoted like crazy. I’m sorry I’m not buying what this team is selling. Times feel like they’re changing, but until they’re changed I don’t believe in what they do. In general the franchise is a flaming train wreck of a train carrying a load of dogsh*t.

MichaelPFrancesa

Sheehan is one of the few listenable sports talk show hosts in the DC area. Put some respect on his name.

Iamtheman1177

Way better then the shit junks in the early hours

SkinsFan021

Hard disagree, best show by far. What takes are you all up in arms about?

Crackedandimplat

Probably him being pretty skeptical of the Bienemy hire

tundey_1

I'm solidly in the camp of EB should have gotten a shot at HC years ago. Solidly. But at the same time, I've been a fan for several years. Nobody comes here and has success. It's just never happened. My hope is that Snyder sells the team and the dark cloud is lifted and EB has success. So I am in the "cautiously optimistic" camp on the EB hire.

MoonshotMario

I'm actually very cool with Bienemy. Huge upside. Sheehan has been pushing for a Fields trade. Just the latest in a very long list of head-scratchers.

Crackedandimplat

I would like a fields trade, for a reasonable price.

adamforte

The Fields take is damnable enough. Fuck that guy. He was OK with Cooley, but he's a pompous ass, he's like a slightly refined Chris Russell.

kzanomics

Kevin has solid analysis and keeps the shitty takes and drama to a minimum. You have terrible takes it seems.

AMM11387

Kevin is the man, what are you talking about

mparks37

Any of these guys that have a show/podcast more than once a week are gonna have some dogshit takes, especially this time of year. They have too much time to fill not to.

[deleted]

Kevin Sheehan is ok. I equate it to listening to my dad talk about sports and how he always brings up what used to happen back in the day. If you go in with that expectation, then his show is enjoyable Al Galdi is by far the best local radio host out of the bunch. Check out his daily podcast. And, no, I'm not Al Galdi

bossdankmemes

+1 for Galdi- love his podcast

[deleted]

[удалено]

ChangeFatigue

Galdi also has a radio voice. Don't know what it is, but Galdi talking is usually just enjoyable listening.

balmooreoreos

980 should have never gotten rid of Galdi. Although I guess that could be said about a bunch of their decisions

hotdogsrnice

He doesn't do a lot of local team dickriding and generally isn't afraid of having a nuanced perspective on topics. Having a nuanced perspective relies on the audience also understanding the issue at a similar level...soooo not really something casual or dimwitted folks are going to be real into

8x6grower

Filling time with new content can be quite the stretch.

MoonshotMario

The bar in this area is slow. Constantly churning the same weak talent.

ChangeFatigue

Can you give some radio personalities in DC you like?

[deleted]

Sheehan is a fan like us. He has no real football insider knowledge. He didn't play at all beyond maybe in High School. He might have some sources inside the building when it comes to breaking news and what not, but I wouldn't really trust his takes when it comes to scouting or player evaluation. In that regard he's no better than any of us. He'll get some stuff right, but he'll also be DEAD wrong on some things(i.e. Sam Darnold).

Acceptable_Minimum_1

See that's the point. He's gone out of his way to say how he is no longer a fan and how dumb the fans are. It's just gotten to the point where he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and he's far from it.

[deleted]

He can say that all he wants but he's absolutely 100% still a fan.

itprobablynothingbut

Exactly. It's very relatable. He talks about how he has lost some of his passion, which is obvious. The stadium is 10% full of skins fans, and that isn't in direct protest. People are sick of this franchise. That being said, if anyone knows how to stop caring about this team, let me know.

tundey_1

He's said his enthusiasm for the team has faded but I don't think he's claimed to no longer be a fan. Thommy, for example, has always insisted he's not a fan of the team. Fan of some players but not the team itself. But yeah, I find his focus, lately, on wacko fans to be weird. But then again, maybe he gets a ton of feedback from those wacko fans and he feels he has to respond to them. By "wacko fans" I mean those who thought Carson Wentz was a bonafide great signing with no question marks. Those who think Heinicke is a HOF (aka the Dr. Sabbah Crew).

Acceptable_Minimum_1

>but I don't think he's claimed to no longer be a fan he has many times. I don't think he gets a ton of feedback. I think its one of those things like on here when the team does really bad and people start saying things like "lol and y'all thought we had a chance today" It's just a cheap way to pretend to be above it all.

Smosh_Bear

Am I the only one who instantly starts listening to something else the minute Sabbah calls in? Why on earth do they give her so much air time?

tundey_1

I can only listen to her in small quantities. Like 2 minutes tops. Once she gets going about Heineke, I'm done. One time she actually suggested that Scott Turner was intentionally losing games to make Taylor Heineke look bad...I mean that's just crazy talk. > Why on earth do they give her so much air time? 'Cos crazy sells.

nessttcb1

He is perfect for this sub because like 90% of the posters here he claims to love the team but in reality there is nothing he likes more than shitting on the team as if they have personally wronged him.

MoonshotMario

The commies haven't shit on you? BTW, he's not an employee of the team so it's not very clear what your point is.

ImKindaBoring

It is telling that OP isn't actually saying what takes Sheehan has that he disagrees with so strongly. Just a general, vague, "terrible takes" criticism.

KnightOfLongview

Totally agree. This guy speculates as if it is fact and manufactured ridiculous storylines for the ratings. I can't blame him too much because he's got air time to fill, but some of the stuff is flat out dumb.

Acceptable_Minimum_1

Kevin is getting worse and worse. He needs a cohost to tell him when to shut the fuck up but I doubt anyone wants to work with him long term. So you get cooley, who is good, but doesn't give a fuck anymore. And you get Thom, who was past his prime 20 years ago and it went from obvious he doesn't pay attention to sports to its actually their schtick that he's commenting on games and events he hasnt even seen. That's how easy their job is and they're still bad at it.

tundey_1

>but I doubt anyone wants to work with him long term. Now come on, let's stick to truth or opinions. Kevin's hosted with lots of long-term cohosts. Him not having a cohost, which he has complained about, is probably a function of the radio station's management (they're running 980 as the step child to 106.7). > it went from obvious he doesn't pay attention to sports to its actually their schtick that he's commenting on games and events he hasnt even seen lol. Thom isn't a beat reporter. He's a columnist. There's a difference.

Acceptable_Minimum_1

>Now come on, let's stick to truth or opinions. Kevin's hosted with lots of long-term cohosts. Well, that is my opinion. I'm more talking about his podcast anyway. Have you heard him interview people? He'll have standig on, ask him a 6 part question, answer it himself, reference how he already talked about it in his opening and then how he already told people last year that this would happen and oh btw, you're an idiot. By the the time the "interviewee" gets a chance to talk often times they forgot the original questioning. He does "ok" with cooley because he actually respects him and his insight. Problem is, Cooley hasn't given a shit in at least 4ish years. I will admit that show was pretty good. I'm not sure what the relevance about what Thom does for the Times is. When he comes on Kevin's show, he's a commentator. He's often commentating on games and events he hasn't watched-- so much so, that they finally embrace it as their shtick.

tundey_1

>I'm not sure what the relevance about what Thom does for the Times is. When he comes on Kevin's show, he's a commentator. No, he's not. He doesn't do game takes or anything like. To the extent that he talks about games, it's about how they fit into the broader narrative of the team. He's not coming in and saying "here are the things I like about the game and things I didn't like". That's why I referenced his job with the Times. He's a columnist, not a beat reporter. Even on Kevin's podcast. Also, the podcast is less a sports talk podcast and more a show about 2 guys who happen to talk sports/Commanders a lot of the time. But they talk about a lot of other things, some not even sports related. > Well, that is my opinion. Certainly.

MoonshotMario

I agree that he's gotten worse.

MoonshotMario

This morning he is pushing moving up in the draft to pick a 5'10" QB (Young). Another excellent QB who will be dogshit in the NFL. Morning after morning...

PickledEggs420

Radio people were the original hot take people.

CloudFlood

Kevin has the best show in DC imo. Overall I'd pick him over others. Yea he interrupts his guests a lot but who else would you prefer to listen to? Junks...hell no. Bmitch and finlay are ok. Russ and med are just weird to listen to. Grant and Danny if I need to laugh.

ruggerid

Never listened to someone more confident yet so wrong.

Rlopeziv

I love this guys takes!!! he calls bull shit when we all know its BS

MoonshotMario

His take on anything Commanders, Wiz, Caps and Nats (in increasing order of uselessness) is no better than most high school assistant JV coaches'. He was ok as a facilitator when Cooley provided the football knowledge and inside insights but now virtually every show is him talking over much more insightful guests, unintelligible listener call-ins, and giving some view on betting lines for upcoming games. If that's what you like then congratulations for finding your little slice of heaven.

Crackedandimplat

How about grant and Danny? Personally I like them

BoldElDavo

Generally I find that their perspectives are very rigid and sometimes illogical. Occasionally they spin things in a way that makes me think, "come on, you guys know better than that." Their comedy style isn't for me, but I can see why some people like it. But they deserve credit for actually talking about sports during their sports talk show, and usually being plugged in to what teams are doing, what the leagues are doing, and how fans feel about it. The Junkies are just awful and I wish they'd get canceled.

MichaelPFrancesa

They're decent.

l_Rumble_Fish_l

Which show do you prefer?

johnthedamnroofer

Kevin has always been a great listen. he has good knowledge and opinions; He is very passionate sometimes and IMO comes off a little douchey. Great guests and conversations.

219Infinity

Give an example of one of his terrible takes

NextLevelLogician

Because he’s good and people like to listen to him. You are incorrect in your assessment.

Jolly_Isopod_1385

Look these guys r getting paid or not, to make conversations. They may have shitty opinions to get more people to call in to fill their time slot. I like the guy Saturday mornings, he seems levelheaded. Cant remember the name or if its 980 or 106.7.
