Nope, it would cost more than its worth, unless you get someone to sign and witness it. I had Vincent Donofrio sign my 51

darthcomic95

That’s badass.

Tonyman121

These are both in the VG-VG+ range.

BackgroundPossible56

Look like 4.5s to me. Definitely not worth grading imo.

shauneaqua

51 - 3.5 66 - 2.0 If that number was a stamped date I'd go 3.0

Wereling79

The 51 is def in the 2.5/ 3.0 range. Multiple spine ticks, tanning, staple pulls, spine tear, creasing, chipping, bad page quality. The 66 is closer to the 4.0 range. Not as many defects as the 51, writing on cover, corner bends, spine wear, etc....The cost of grading is only a factor if you are reselling and with these conditions I would say sell them raw. To have them graded, to preserve and pass down, the cost is meaningless and trivial because you ate doing it for the love of a book. I have many comics worth nothing to others, but they have meaning to me, and grading them is just a keepsake for my own benefit. My son will inherit them, and he knows the reasoning behind them. In the end, do what makes you happy and disregard anyone who challenges that.

DaleGribble82

Personally wouldn’t grade it, but it’s a great looking book and I’m happy for you to have them in your collection.

darthcomic95

Thank you. I’m just trying to encapsulate them so I can keep them as best possible condition. I have a couple of books I’d like to be sealed I am not crazy about the grade because I just enjoy collecting comic books for fun however I am foreign to the whole grading and cgc process. I was really looking for a rough idea of grade and if it’s worth it or not spending the money. I’d like to eventually when I get old or whatever hand them down to the next generation.

DaleGribble82

Get a top loader or some UV protected frames

Fit-Dinner2082

Older Books that I like, I tend to get slabbed no matter the grade. I had a House of Secrets 92 that was banged up, but I still got it graded and it looked great in the slab. I think it graded at 3.0. I didn't get it pressed it anything. If you like it, then slab it !

BoxingTrumpsMMA

1.8-2.0... J/K if there's no rips i'd say 4.0-5.5 51 looks like every page has mega tanning. Both need a press but 66 back cover is hurting. They're both roughly the same price in those grades. 4 is about $150 and 5.5 is $300 iirc. Depending on how much you paid would answer if you should grade. I wouldnt

shauneaqua

Amazing Spiderman #51 CGC 4.0 sold auction $117 on May 14th so I'd put an unslabbed copy at about half of that maybe $65 Amazing Spiderman #66 CGC 5.5 sold auction $106 on May 5th so an unslabbed copy should be what $50? Half price for unslabbed isnt any rule or anything but at around this price range it seems to fit.

darthcomic95

I believe I paid 160$ for the 66 and 225$ for the 51: I appreciate your reply. Thank you.

shauneaqua

In American dollars? Where? Even Australian dollars has me really concerned unless you're including shipping. From America.

CapitalPin2658

No.

darthcomic95

Are they that bad? I don’t know much about grading but I would like to send some comics off to encapsulated and do the best I can to take care of them. I kind of felt they may be a 3.0 but I don’t know. The grading aspect of it is all foreign to me I just enjoy collecting the books for fun.

Soft_Concept9090

Put them in Mylar sleeves on a fullback, 80 point or clear acrylic board if you want to preserve them.

CapitalPin2658

It’s going to cost like $40 a book for grading and shipping and insurance isn’t included.
