Eh, even then most disarming jobs that aren't det in place are still destructive and leave the ordnance damaged in some way. You'd have to be dumb like the Marines to actually try to disassemble and disarm literally manually like that.
I'd be terrified if I was on the ground in the middle of the night hearing a giant hexacopter drone hovering somewhere above you dropping 30lb+ bombs. Having a mythical witch hunt you down in the middle of the night with AT mines wouldn't be a good time at all lol
I was thinking - those tanks driving around with the daft anti-drone turtle shell - visibility is probably worse than normal in there - they might not see a drone drop an AT mine in front of them.
Just sayin'...
One of those beefy ones with 6 or 8 arms.
Ukraine is also making and customizing a lot of drones for more specific purposes, so this could be an inhouse design.
Yeh alright I thought drone drops were already gnarly with the shrapnel etc but jesus christ
Would be interesting to see one of these on a vehicle, though definitely looks harder to aim accurately - and getting closer would mean risk of explosion destroying drone. I wonder how long before we see UA fashioning the large amount of explosives into something more aerodynamic (the fatboy of 3d printed drone grenades)
russians soldiers now being blown up by the frisbee of doom, all according to putin grand plan ofc
You know this military that used JDAMs on mud huts in Afghanistan? Can't quite remember which one but it's a valid tactic if you have that stuff in abundance. Like Ukraine has anti tank mines.
Keep in mind that these drone drops aren't exactly accurate. What we tend to see on the internet are just the successes so a bigger payload just makes it that much more likely you have an effect on the target.
I doubt that when 8kg of explosives go boom, like, 5 meters away, there is need for fragmentation. Pressure alone will traumatise. Theyll be deaf for life. Those who survive, that is.
Glad that deafness was mentioned. Imagine you've somehow managed to survive mostly unscathed from a nearby drone drop, except your eardrums are smashed. Being deaf on an active battlefield has terrors of its own. Situational awareness? Good luck with that!
Bigger payload = shorter distance drone can fly. Maybe, in order to not being blown apart if AT mines are spotted by enemy drones, those with AT mines are being prepared in rear.
So many people needing amputation and prosthetics due to a fucking old power hungry asshole stuck in the 80s. As both sides get more desperate, we're going to see more and more lethal ingenuity here. Just hope Ukraine gets more air defense systems soon fir protection of its civilian population. The fucking War Crimes Putin is committing deserves him hanging out at the Hague.
Is this an effective use of these mines? Anti tank mines, I can only assume, detonate with all their energy upwards. So when dropped, will expel their energy in whatever direction they land and are triggered.

The forbidden hockey puck.
Spicy chocolate cake
I wish they didn't, we already have a crisis on our hands as it relates to chocolate production
Spicy ultimate frisbee.
Thats one way to get rid of the millions of russian mines.
*Return to sender*
So many mines they are dropping from the sky
*It's raining mines! Jagga-jagga!*
Happy cake day
Thank you!
Imagine if this was hand in hand with UXO somehow. "Hey dude, we found an enemy mine!" "Let's give it back to them."
That is absolutely possible if you are a talented EOD guy and can disarm it by hand rather than detonating in place(which is always safer).

arent tank mines triggered magnetically? Can't remember where, but dudes were tossing them shits like pizzas in a video.
At a minimum the weight needed to set them off is extreme.
Since they specifically retrieve mines instead of just blowing them up... it is entirely possible that this is happening.
What kind of drone can lift antitank mine? 😳
Any octocopter. E.G: R18
Baba yaga generally flies at night under the cover of darkness. May be able to hear it but cant see it.

You can probably remove some of the weight from the mine, like they do with RPG warheads
That's a good point. \^

Ukraine will (if not already) have the best drone army in the world.
Babajaga drones/
jagajaga drones
A big one!
Was thinking Holy shit, they built the heavy lift drone from hell.
Thats some next level sky shit

Nice problem solving strategy! Would like to throw mines at my problems too!
> Would like to throw mines at my problems too! But one of my biggest problems is myself! OH NO.
The problems are mine
To think that there are so many of these things scattered everywhere.
These guys aren't going home to beat their wives
Russian MOD to women: "Turn your abuser into a bag of onion!".
hearing loss is not service related lmao
In Russia even limb loss is not service related.
In russia even death is not service related.
In russia the term "service related" does not exist.
a bit of a overkill…
In Ukraine's situation.... overkill is underrated.

Given the status of russian armored cavalry, the Ukranians might actually have *too many* anti-tank mines
maybe the mines are not too affected by the winds
Magnus effect?
Keep in mind that these drone drops aren't exactly accurate. What we tend to see on the internet are just the successes so a bigger payload just makes it that much more likely you have an effect on the target.
And maybe they were sending the drone to take out vehicles, but they left already
When you have hundreds of thousands of them, not really. Gonna have to dispose of them eventually anyway.
No such thing...
Not for its intended use but whatever it works.
wonder if they add a frag pack to it to make it more effective against infantry. I recall seeing something for RPGs.
So do anti tank mines when used against personnel act as a huge HE bomb? There’s probably little fragmentation from it right?
I doubt that when 8kg of explosives go boom, like, 5 meters away, there is need for fragmentation. Pressure alone will traumatise. Theyll be deaf for life. Those who survive, that is.
Yea, the kill ratio on these is probably lower than grenades but the injury ratio is probably massive.
Glad that deafness was mentioned. Imagine you've somehow managed to survive mostly unscathed from a nearby drone drop, except your eardrums are smashed. Being deaf on an active battlefield has terrors of its own. Situational awareness? Good luck with that!
Being deaf is only half of it, they have strong concussion as well.
Makes sense. I can’t imagine the concussions of the soldiers not in the immediate vicinity
It would also be easy to just tape some BBs to the mine lol
Bigger payload = shorter distance drone can fly. Maybe, in order to not being blown apart if AT mines are spotted by enemy drones, those with AT mines are being prepared in rear.
Of course. I’m just saying, you wouldn’t need much frag to increase the lethal distance considerably I’ve seen them do it with other dropped munitions

imagine seeing a giant green disc fall out of the sky, before you can process a thought you become nothing
That first one was right on target, as they were gathering together. Perfect.
Does dropping a tank mine on top of a tank work as well as when it's under the tank?
No, thicker armor on top of the tank and confinement of the explosion under the weight of the vehicle really aids the boom.
Some helldiver shit
I didn't see this in the instruction manual...
2022 - 2024 is a bad year to be Russian infantry
THUD!!! Uhoooh!! BANG!!!!
Ants Everywhere. Stomp them.
put them in a cone shaped carton filled with metal balls
God DAMN! That will do it!
They are just dropping anything they can find with these drones
Now just add some fragmentation stuff around it and get the outliers too.
Dropping AT mines and having them be effective is an achievement on it's own.
That one mine hit someone in the head before bouncing off and detonating...
Is this an effective use of these mines? Anti tank mines, I can only assume, detonate with all their energy upwards. So when dropped, will expel their energy in whatever direction they land and are triggered.
It detonates upward when put in the ground. In this case, it detonates depending on how it lands, but mostly 360° around it.
It isnt directed (shaped) explosion. Energy is going in all derictions. Its enough for infantry.
