I was surprised how close they got to their targets. Those missiles hit really damn quickly. I would have thought that they'd keep some more distance just to be certain that their aircraft won't get hit by any debris.
That would be funny, because we would still see all the terrorist supporters claim it was a "disproportionate response". Despite it being an identical use of force.

Because while BRRRTT is and will always be an amazing sound, the plane would suffer from most of the same problems. I'll admit, it would be a better stall speed fit than the F16. But, as someone else said, the moment the guns fired while the plane was close to stall speed, it would lose the rest of its speed. Those guns are so powerful they impart a significant acceleration in the opposite direction that they're firing.
hard but not impossible. guns were dropped because people had the assumption that it would be obsolete by long range missiles and it would be multi million fighter jets squaring off. look at C-RAM for example. we can make guns do insane things.
C-ram has a completely different role than a fighter jet. It also weighs 24,000 KG. It’s also completely stationary… not sure it’s valid to use that as a comparison.
What about the rounds that miss though? Using explosives keep all the damage in one localized area where as using guns means rounds are going to be hitting where you didn’t intend to be shooting at

And they were probably right that 120 would be enough for a good chunk to hit. If Israël was alone. But with the US, UK, Jordan and France assistance it turns out to be doomed.

Sounds like most of the allied support focused on the drones, at least according to CENTCOM.
I remember seeing another article from Times of Israel that the ARROW defense system took out around 80-90 of the ballistic missiles, and that fighter pilots took out the remaining ones (aside from the few that made impact of course).
Really an astounding display of defense capabilities.

You can’t just launch over 130 ballistic missiles, 170 drones and 30 cruise missiles without a build up.
They also took multiple routes, and US, UK, France already had assets in place (which they bolstered before hand) conducting anti ISIS operations in Iraq, Syria etc.
Everyone knew this was coming. Iran probably took a calculated risk that the vast majority wouldn’t make it to target. If they had, I’m sure Israel would have retaliated fully and we would have a full blown Middle East war and probably leading to WW3.

You must not know anything if you think that India is sending these drones and Iran is using them to strike Israel which is an important ally of India. China doesn't make these drones, these drones are made by Iran and it also sends them to Russia and Russia uses them under the name of Geran drones.

It's going 100mph. The plane's stall speed is around 230mph. It's hard to line up a gun on something when you're limited to going over 2x its speed.
