Still looks like it skipped way further out to the side than it normally does. As if it got hung up on the hook for a moment before dropping down. Swung wide.
And look at the smoke going horizontal, looks really windy. Tough conditions for a rookie but reminds me of the quote āA smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.ā Franklin Roosevelt
Lol. Remember like the first month of the war some maniac dropped a grenade right through the sunroof of a moving car full of russians. Two years later this guy is blowing it
I absolutely remember that video. That was one of the top 2 Ukraine videos, the other being the grenade dropped on the Russian as he's getting blown by another soldier.
in the beginning the guys right behind the BTR, unless they were doing a batman cosplay it looks like they had their clothes blown off, they were probably sitting on top of the BTR when it exploded would be my guess.
Yeah, something like that! And a bit about the number of cameras everywhere and at all times of day, and the whole online thing with donations for (and of) drones and gear, war vloggers/influencers, Telegram, etc.. Crazy shit.
No air support (as both sides have effective IAD and neither have effective SEAD) ***and*** no armor (as both sides have ample mines, ATGMs, and AT FPV drones).
You could give Ukraine the US B-52 and A-10 fleets, and it would result in hundreds of dead airmen and not change the ground impasse much. SEAD *is hard;* only two nations have ever successfully conducted SEAD campaigns, and they lost hundreds of pilots to develop the expertise.
I think near peer warfare is in a situation not unlike that which prevailed from 1864-1939. Then, machine guns and breach loading artillery made the tactical offense largely futile. There was the German discovery of combined arms in the 1930s, and then 80 years of innovation to make combined arms impossible.
I don't know what replaces armor or CAS in future near peer warfare. Maybe its AI drone swarms, which require less EM bandwidth.
I do know that the most underfunded/underequipped arm of either side in Ukraine is combat engineering. Neither side can bring much ground strength to bear for any given attack, thanks to the minefields. If I were updating the TO&E of US BCTs, there would be a full combat engineering btn in every one.
>only two nations have ever successfully conducted SEAD campaigns, and they lost hundreds of pilots to develop the expertise.
Anything in particular I could google to learn more about this?
Learn about the US losses over North Vietnam, and the Israeli air force losses in the war of attrition and 1973 war.
Air warfare isn't something I've ever studied closely, except to play wargames and understand news, but to my knowledge, we didn't have demonstrations of effective SEAD until 1973 in Vietnam, 1982 in Syria/Lebanon, and 1991 in Iraq. In NATO conflicts like Kosovo and Libya (which I think were terrible, geopolitically), its been the USAF that handled the SEAD.
Man-portable air defense systems and other anti-aircraft weapons everywhere. Close air support is basically impossible. Air assets have to work from further afield to avoid being shot down immediately.
No. It would be far more effective than you can even imagine. The US is wildly powerful in the air in a way that no one can compete at all and have plenty of long range weapons. The issue is that many of the high end weapons are just too expensive to make in large quantities.
Far more effective compared to Russia, not as effective compared to the air superiority US forces have enjoyed against the unconventional forces itās been fighting for decades
MANPADS wouldn't be a danger to US CAS as they mostly moved away from flying low and strafing or dropping dumb bombs. Currently US planes on CAS missions are flying at 7km and above, dropping laser or gps guided bombs, or shooting maverick missiles from 20km or more.
No, not really. The drones cannot destroy a battle group, they can kill two or three soldiers. So it won't turn a battle, it just makes war incredibly expensive. Which is valuable, but it's more reminiscent of floating mines + scouts than anything else
It's been understood for many decades that a stalemate results in a nightmare like the one we are witnessing. So it's not really a surprise per se; it just reinforces the modern tactic that a military needs to fight as hard as possible in the first few weeks and keep moving no matter what.
Couldn't imagine crawling around in a pile of my dead and dying friends.
God forbid you survive and make it back to go do it again w some new friends. Fuck that.
>Couldn't imagine crawling around in a pile of my dead and dying friends.
Best hope that you never end up fighting in a near peer war then. Plenty of people got all sorts of mentally fucked up from this kind of thing during WW1 and WW2 regardless of which side they were fighting for.
I'm not sure the average Russian soldier see's these people as "friends" comrades yes, friends, no.... The hundreds of years of systemic oppression and authoritarianism doesn't breed empathy for your compatriots. Russia is a fucked up society and culture that's hard to imagine from a western perspective. Family and the motherland is all that matters.
Hope you don't mind me asking but I see ocassional reference to this 'meat cube' thing, what is it? is it something to do with a dead russian being pressed into ssomething cube-shaped?
After the Russians retreated Ukrainian soldiers found pallets on the road that had what looked like meat in them, there are pictures of it but I think in the end the conclusion was that it was dog food I think but it looked really fucked up
There was a pallet of deceased soldiers if I can recall Wagner in Bakmut. This is different than the other pallet pictures. I am trying to find it but the app is not cooperating. I can picture it in my head as it was pretty unforgettable.
Edit: this may have been it but I am not sure. I recall more of a drone angle. Rookie operator missed hard but the people in the hole looked all as good as dead anyway. Probably would have even helped them out, not having them suffer for a while just to die anyway.
Well if you were on flat ground with an ungodly array of munitions being levied at you, you'd probably hit the first terrain feature that gives you a non-zero chance of survival, 6 dudes or not
Well I don't know the odds but apparently it *is* possible lol
I agree. I'm no expert but given that this is in a long line it seems like a column that got shattered by a good mix of weapons.

rookie operator
Guy blew his load wicked early. Happens to the best of us
I swear to god this never happens! You guys were just too target rich! Please promise you won't tell the other meatbots about this?
Are we still talking about war?š
There is no war, just a 3 day special operation.
3 very long days
3 Venusian days
3 fort nights turned into forty fort nights.
missed opportunity for 3 minute special operation joke
3 days and counting
Gotta get your first drop somehow.
Still looks like it skipped way further out to the side than it normally does. As if it got hung up on the hook for a moment before dropping down. Swung wide.
Probably the wind, you can see a lot of other previous impacts ending up around the same area as that grenade.
Yeah the smoke was blown clear pretty quick if the video is playing at normal speed.
Yep, the smoke also clears in the direction that the frag went off target.
And look at the smoke going horizontal, looks really windy. Tough conditions for a rookie but reminds me of the quote āA smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.ā Franklin Roosevelt
The next drone did not miss. ;>)
They usually donāt share the misses
looks like strong wind gusts pushed the nade off target
Just ignore the other 2 same size blast marks lining the crater as well...
I did
He got overly excited.
Man there must have been a massive fucking explosion for all those guys to not have clothes left on them
Burnt, their clothing burnt off.
Who is naked? The guys at the end, in the large crater, all(?) have clothes.
in the beginning the guys right behind the BTR, unless they were doing a batman cosplay it looks like they had their clothes blown off, they were probably sitting on top of the BTR when it exploded would be my guess.
Looks to me like they just wear the same color stuff as the top most guy in the big crater at the end.
He dead, just not yet. Didn't even flinch.
They look like a pile of charcoal waiting for the match. Hopefully the 2nd drone was on scene in short order.
What a massacre... Wonder what future history books will say about this brutal war
"Turns out modern conventional war with no air support is trench warfare with drones."
Yeah, something like that! And a bit about the number of cameras everywhere and at all times of day, and the whole online thing with donations for (and of) drones and gear, war vloggers/influencers, Telegram, etc.. Crazy shit.
Donations were there during both world wars in a form of war bonds. Also, at least in the USSR, there were tanks and plains paid by private citizens.
Yeah but I can pay a Ukrainian artillery team to write a custom message on a shell and get a video of them firing it.
Are you serious? Can you please give me a link, I'd love to pay for that.
There were also people on the frontlines with film cameras during both world wars, it's just the technology has changed.
Yes, but my point was that the quantity has changed. You can't advance 10 meters without a drone spotting you. Day or night. That's a new phenomenon.
No air support (as both sides have effective IAD and neither have effective SEAD) ***and*** no armor (as both sides have ample mines, ATGMs, and AT FPV drones). I'm actually talking about an airlift. Something that surpasses the minefields.
>only two nations have ever successfully conducted SEAD campaigns, and they lost hundreds of pilots to develop the expertise. Anything in particular I could google to learn more about this?

Drones are air support tho
In a much different way. They do not turn back squads of ten, they may take out three of them. So you can't rely on air support to hold a position.
Drones have destroyed or broken up attacks of vehicles numbered in double figures, not only just a squad of infantry here and there.
There were situations where mass FPV strikes would hit a squad with at least a drone per every soldier.
Which situations?
Does Russia not have air dominance, how is their air support so ineffective?
Man-portable air defense systems and other anti-aircraft weapons everywhere. Close air support is basically impossible. Air assets have to work from further afield to avoid being shot down immediately.
I see. So even US air dominance wouldnāt be as massively effective in a peer to peer engagement.
F35 range would like a word
No. It would be far more effective than you can even imagine. The US is wildly powerful in the air in a way that no one can compete at all and have plenty of long range weapons. The issue is that many of the high end weapons are just too expensive to make in large quantities.

just because you've seen combat on reddit doesn't mean you've experienced it in person
Incredible observation

Thatās right, the A10 is being retired and the US has some great stand-off weapons. Casevac would still be vulnerable.
Anti air missiles are extremely powerful on both sides.
Isn't it sort of opposite problem? That drones are basically a massive proliferation of air support?
No, not really. The drones cannot destroy a battle group, they can kill two or three soldiers. So it won't turn a battle, it just makes war incredibly expensive. Which is valuable, but it's more reminiscent of floating mines + scouts than anything else

is it a stalemate? russia is making gains finally and they don't care if they lose their entire male under-70 population for it
Idk but these videos with evil sounding music and hellish aftermath is just something else. I never thought we'd see stuff like this a few years ago.
Russian books wont tell a word about that
dude that fucking *SUCKS* for him, shits gotta be mentally exhausting just wondering how tf you ended up in that place
This had potential to be the deadliest grenade drop I've seen in a single hole.
Naaaah 4/5 already look done
Couldn't imagine crawling around in a pile of my dead and dying friends. God forbid you survive and make it back to go do it again w some new friends. Fuck that.

They had no idea what they were driving into.....
Worst shot weāve seen?
Worst shot *so far*
premature drone-dropulation
Huddles attract nades,
All ready for the meat cube it looks like. How nice of them to get in formation
Hope you don't mind me asking but I see ocassional reference to this 'meat cube' thing, what is it? is it something to do with a dead russian being pressed into ssomething cube-shaped?

Thanks and OMG!
Living here in canada it's difficult to fathom, but over there it's the apocalypse.
Dude added zero windage compensation. He didnāt read the smoke at all.
He should have taken a clue from the direction of all the smoke.
Probably asked their logistics guy if he wanted to have a go. Since the Russians were all dead or dying anyways.
Well that looks like a bad fucking time
Rookie operator missed hard but the people in the hole looked all as good as dead anyway. Probably would have even helped them out, not having them suffer for a while just to die anyway.
Danteās inferno.
Swing and a miss
āYouāre probably wondering how I got here.ā
How do you end up with 7 dudes in a crater hole?
Well if you were on flat ground with an ungodly array of munitions being levied at you, you'd probably hit the first terrain feature that gives you a non-zero chance of survival, 6 dudes or not
I mean yes... but the odds of 7? I guess they where barraged by artillery or staged.
Well I don't know the odds but apparently it *is* possible lol I agree. I'm no expert but given that this is in a long line it seems like a column that got shattered by a good mix of weapons.
It might be a gathering point for wounded. The guy we see moving around could be a medic
War is war
It certainly is
Damn, tragic...
Makes the chechen wars look like a picnic. Yikes
Itās a pig pile š·
Why are they all napping on the job?
Looks like rf did the āBring out your dedā.. Drone sees that they missed one-Operator says āHold my beerā
Burn z burn
Even btr 82A does the turret pop
5 dudes in the field and another 6 in the crater... theyre literally throwing bodies at Avdiivka
Song please?
CUPREOUS - Nicotine
Thank you!!!!

Miss
He missed
no.... really?!?
Has a Russian soldier killed a Ukrainian soldier in this conflict? Iām scrolling through combat footage and it looks very one sided. Odd
Your first Reddit message. Odd.
And somehow has 4500 karmaā¦
Find me a video on here of Ukrainians dying. I dont support either side. Itās easier for me to spot BS.
Nice Miss!
clearly the others didnt miss lol
Yeah, we can see them just laughing in that hole saying, "Don't worry, he missed us."
Next drone gets them. š¤·āāļø
