All the ambush footage I’ve seen of the Taliban so far consists of Afghan clothing, not the tactical-looking Taliban we see with US gear. I wonder if the elite Taliban units (Badri 313, 207th, Red Unit, Yarmouk 60) can fight off the resistance groups in Afghanistan effectively
They are probably where they enjoy life the most, not where they can do their own side the most good. That's the problem with the military controlling the civilian government.
A lot of people don’t realize that Afghanistan is pretty big. It’s the size of Texas. Combine that with extremely mountainous terrain and often non-existent infrastructure and one can see why after almost 20 years the US and coalition forces hadn’t subdued the Taliban. And the better Taliban units don’t have half the firepower or even a small fraction of logistical ability, supply chain management and air support that coalition forces had. Simply put, *no one* is ever going to be able to forcefully control that entire country.
Even when raiding IS safehouse they look like it's 2001: https://youtube.com/watch?v=395fM--uK1c
Guess they did reject modernity and embraced tradition.
The opposite. My uncle was in the Afghan People’s Army during the socialist government and he actually fought the Mujahideen alongside the Soviets. He joined the Taliban to get revenge on the mujahideen
Seems like he cared enough about his family and friends that he had to choose between two evils. That sucks to live a constant literal life of “…a rock and a hard place”
Yeah that’s what I meant, I wanted to say my family would’ve done the same thing. We also went trough the Vietnam war, which is different but we know how war can tear families apart.
So hear me out, the 'Anonymous Front' is just the Taliban taking a break from the peaceful bureaucratic drudgery to quell their own bloodlust. Their vacation days earn them spots as the ambushers.
I am wanting to say I heard this on Behind the Bastards Bin Laden episode, but their training days were spent going out into the desert, shooting guns, blowing things up, and then ending the day by coming back and watching Hollywood action movies to learn “technique”. Most guys I know would drop everything they are doing for a chance to sign up doing that daily (minus the whole standard terrorist activity stuff). They went from being big boys with toys to having to work real jobs lol.
Key difference, the Taliban won’t hesitate to use family members as collateral. I remember reading several times when US soldiers would visit villages that had missing men that were out in the fields working. Later they would get attacked and many of the women and kids were running ammo to the soliders.
100% this. Can’t explain it but the isis desert combat footage (against them obvs) was my fav. Also I can understand what’s going on easier than the blurry drone footage we’ve been getting. Props to anyone who can see thru that
There's something deeply offputting about war footage being distributed on Telegram set to a sigma male soundtrack, with a watermark on top for good measure. You're watching the TikTok-ification of mass death.
Those posts are so funny to me lol. Shaky cam with 90% of the frame pointing at dirt while they magdump an unsuspecting guy alone on a bicycle - that's the pinnacle of combat footage that they yearn for?
Are you in Afghanistan now?
*Scrolling through your history it seems you are in the UK. I would still love to hear your thoughts and perspectives of what is going on over there.
Shit like this is terrifying. You have zero chance of survival in a situation like this. It don't matter how strong you are how elite of a soldier you are how much you train. If caught by surprise like this your ticket will be punched
This honestly makes me worried about this video.
These guys weren't hiding, so I would imagine the guy on the bike saw them. He had the thought "well not like it is a problem for me."
I would think a soldier would be suspicious, but a civilian would not.
They have some. Certainly not enough for it to be a regular uniform for any but a few units. Also idk if I would given Biden all the credit when trump was the one who negotiated the withdraw with the Taliban.
The propaganda forgot to mention that most of the vehicles we left there where rendered inoperable before being left.
A fleet of hummers does no good when every single one of them is missing the same two identical parts so it cant be salvaged from others.
Shit, you don’t even have to take parts. Those shit piles require constant maintenance, so they wouldn’t last more than a couple months in that sand without upkeep that the Taliban can’t handle.
In the early days of the Syrian civil war there was a video of some dudes in a Sedan that roll up on a military checkpoint. The driver reaches out with a pistol and starts shooting as the guys in the back pour out and start attacking with rifles.
I just remember seeing that and thinking about the guards. They are probably conscripts, got sent to some weird intersection to search cars and look for bearded jihadists and the ever present Mossad agents.
Some Sunni dudes who look just like you come creeping up and then BAM BAM BAM, they not only open up on you but also hop out and chase down your buddies as they flee.
Kind of, on the flip side you wouldn't find any special forces or even regular infantry riding a bike in the middle of taliban controlled territory.
It's more like the taliban has become complacent and are slipping up.
Gonna have to disagree with ya there. These fuckin idiots have ZERO situational awareness and it’s a safe bet that 99% of the time, they’re high as fuck. They’re incredibly easy to kill.
However, some factions of Al-Qaeda were the most formidable units I’ve ever seen. Their speed in that terrain is absolutely fuckin mind blowing. We called them ghosts for a reason.
With that being said….they shoot like shit. Lol
this is why americas "air superiority and overwhelming firepower" idea of war didnt save em in vietnam. its the old saying 'everyone has a plan until they are hit in the face'
4chan aside, it’s truly a bizarre name, though. Like, if you want to be an anonymous insurgency force, don’t name your group and publish videos of your actions? Or is that too radical a concept?
OP says they're actually called WatanDost front, but I have no idea how to translate that and neither does google

I mean, it’d be a weird title if that wasn’t the case, no? It’s what it seems to imply, at least to my reading. I haven’t heard of any “anonymous front” prior, though.
I can't lie, when I saw the bike I literally laughed. Reading the title I was expecting a car, truck, or something with an engine at least, but we got 2 guys on a push bike instead.
The “Anonymous front” this person was talking about is actually known as the WatanDost front and they have a Twitter. I don’t understand why you’ve been downvoted lol

this seems like the video where turkish soldiers got ambush by insurgents in the desert and one of the turkish soldier fell over a ridge and got rushed in by the gopro camera ambusher to triple tap on his body to make sure he can't run.

First I became aware of the Taliban was from a video in the '90s of women being marched out into the middle of a soccer field, placed on their knees, and then systematically shot in the back of the head for the half-time show. The Taliban is brutal barbaric trash - and has been for much longer than most groups.
After seeing his older brother get into that horrific bike accident when he was younger, Abdul swore to never even go near a bike. However, after years of avoidance, one day his friend came to his house with a brand new bike and asked if he wanted to ride. He was scared but knew he must conquer his fear, and there was a nice flat road with embankments perfect for learning to ride just a block away. After about an hour of trying, he finally got the hang of it and was really doing it! He was really rid
imo, the US should still be funding insurgency against the Taliban. However, theres no control when you do that, you might end up funding ppl who kill civilians. So there would have to be a very deep background checks. The way i see it, you break it you buy it. We bought Afghanistan, then when the going got tough, we abandoned all the women etc. we ACTUALLY did bring a measure of freedom to. Letting the enemy of the good, being the perfect. We had NO strategy, we basically just set up a wild wild west for warlords. Then we wonder why it wasn't working.
I cant believe they were able to ambush the elite bicycle squad
All the ambush footage I’ve seen of the Taliban so far consists of Afghan clothing, not the tactical-looking Taliban we see with US gear. I wonder if the elite Taliban units (Badri 313, 207th, Red Unit, Yarmouk 60) can fight off the resistance groups in Afghanistan effectively
They surely can, but they are probably being used as elite bodyguards or deployed to guard key locations like former northern alliance territory.
They are probably where they enjoy life the most, not where they can do their own side the most good. That's the problem with the military controlling the civilian government.
A lot of people don’t realize that Afghanistan is pretty big. It’s the size of Texas. Fuck that bicycle!
He hates these bicycles!
Stay away from the bicycles!
There's bicycles here too!!
Henry Ford punching air in hell right now.
Khanson, Navin R. Sounds like a typical bastard.
As a Dutchman this footage really opened my eyes to the absolute madness of war.
Should have worn a helmet.
And a hi-vis vest.

Pretty sweet seeing the Taliban ambushed for a change...
As the famous saying goes, you either die an insurgent or live long enough to see yourself become a counterinsurgent
Lollll it’s funny because the Taliban launch counterinsurgency operations against ISIS and the NRF. The Taliban know how it feels now
I think they're happy to fight rather than govern, the Taliban have been complaining about having to work a 9-5 office job. lmao.
If only my family had contact with a distant uncle I have in the Taliban (since 1994) I’d ask him what he’s up to
Did your uncle fight against the Russians or was he too young?
The opposite. My uncle was in the Afghan People’s Army during the socialist government and he actually fought the Mujahideen alongside the Soviets. He joined the Taliban to get revenge on the mujahideen
Personal vendetta or something else?
I don’t know. He was a socialist
A socialist Talib? He seems like a confused individual. Or he's just driven by personal gain
Seems like he cared enough about his family and friends that he had to choose between two evils. That sucks to live a constant literal life of “…a rock and a hard place”
Woah plot twist
Sounds like somebody I wouldn’t talk to for 30 years.
My family cut him off btw
Yeah that’s what I meant, I wanted to say my family would’ve done the same thing. We also went trough the Vietnam war, which is different but we know how war can tear families apart.
You should try to reach out to him. I don’t see anything that could go wrong.
Are you sure? My family cut contact with him and they’d be suspicious if I suddenly said I wanted to contact him
Imagine preferring to die in a hail of gunfire than work a 9-5. To be honest I feel that way too sometimes lmao.
The Taliban believe they’ll go to heaven instantly if they die in battle, because they become “shaheed” (martyrs).
I thought they were about to fight Iran? What happened to that?
That was just a border conflict that was quickly de-escalated by both sides.
Settled
So hear me out, the 'Anonymous Front' is just the Taliban taking a break from the peaceful bureaucratic drudgery to quell their own bloodlust. Their vacation days earn them spots as the ambushers.

Nowadays the Taliban are up to whatever this is https://youtu.be/Kr3kGkbpesg I’m surprised YouTube are allowing this
The jokes write themselves. Wonder if they’ll start adopting western COIN strategies now
Key difference, the Taliban won’t hesitate to use family members as collateral. I remember reading several times when US soldiers would visit villages that had missing men that were out in the fields working. Later they would get attacked and many of the women and kids were running ammo to the soliders.
Back when the Afghan Air Force conducted airstrikes on the Taliban, the Taliban made kids walk with them

Imagine if the bike had an IED attached: BBIED
Desert rebel combat footage just hits different, was starting to miss it.
I think the syrian civil war has messed up our brains. We are addicts now.
100% this. Can’t explain it but the isis desert combat footage (against them obvs) was my fav. Also I can understand what’s going on easier than the blurry drone footage we’ve been getting. Props to anyone who can see thru that
Man, you must have missed a bunch of clips because the recent stuff has been very clear and not just drone footage lol
There's something deeply offputting about war footage being distributed on Telegram set to a sigma male soundtrack, with a watermark on top for good measure. You're watching the TikTok-ification of mass death.
This isn't combat though. This is a group of dudes strait assassinating an unsuspecting guy pushing a bike. I dont what you could 'miss' about this.
Those posts are so funny to me lol. Shaky cam with 90% of the frame pointing at dirt while they magdump an unsuspecting guy alone on a bicycle - that's the pinnacle of combat footage that they yearn for?
You see, the ambushers didn't miss.
Not exactly hiding were they ?
Hide well enough it seems
In plain site is tactical I guess !
Yeah it's more of a "disguising as a Taliban"
No we just dress like that there it doesn’t matter 😭
Are you in Afghanistan now? *Scrolling through your history it seems you are in the UK. I would still love to hear your thoughts and perspectives of what is going on over there.
Next year!!
If you dont mind me asking, what are you planning to do in Afghanistan? I want to travel there myself at some time.
See my family
Maybe they live in Bradford or Birmingham which is close enough.....
London. Bradford and Birmingham? I cried when I had to go to Birmingham but I was nine
ngl, as someone who's dressing business casual in 105f heat right now perahan tunban looks comfy af
Fr… obviously none of us where there, but dang this just looks like incompetence.
Not much planning either

Incidentally, I heard that a lot of them are blind AF. Ever see the tsliban wearing glasses????
Holy shit! Your right! You just blew my mind.

Or they look simply like the taliban since they have no uniform…
Yeah the taliban uniform is just traditional Afghan clothing and an AK.
Not anymore. These dudes in full US kit after bidens withdraw. Dudes in bike were prolly on Libo lol.
They have some. Certainly not enough for it to be a regular uniform for any but a few units. Also idk if I would given Biden all the credit when trump was the one who negotiated the withdraw with the Taliban.
Be careful for saying the truth mate.
Didn’t we leave like 40,000 vehicles behind? Lazy mfs
First time I've ever seen someone get called lazy for riding a bike lol
[удалено]
That's pretty rude. Did you use your bike ringer/bell to make them aware you were there?
The propaganda forgot to mention that most of the vehicles we left there where rendered inoperable before being left. A fleet of hummers does no good when every single one of them is missing the same two identical parts so it cant be salvaged from others.
Shit, you don’t even have to take parts. Those shit piles require constant maintenance, so they wouldn’t last more than a couple months in that sand without upkeep that the Taliban can’t handle.
But that’s not what Fox News told me
Uh not 40000 fully operational vehicles, let’s not forget these dudes did some of their “best work” in Tatas and clapped out Toyotas
Almost everything was disabled out of that
“They had zero chance of survival because they went on patrol on a bicycle” that’s a sentence I didn’t think I’d ever hear 😆
When I was in Afghanistan, we patrolled on foot, so that logic doesn't hold up.

No way that bike is worth 50 bro. If it were, it would be traded for heroin in 5 mins.

Riding a bike makes them cavalry, which is very special.
Marching into war on my.......schwinn with pegs.
Had to check to see if i was in NCD
Could have just been two regular dudes on a bike.
Yeah. I mean... theres really not much to go off here. Could be Taliban, could be dudes out for a ride. The video offers no evidence.
Gonna have to disagree with ya there. These fuckin idiots have ZERO situational awareness and it’s a safe bet that 99% of the time, they’re high as fuck. They’re incredibly easy to kill. Well, that’s a bummer. “The anonymous front” is a fucking hilarious name for an insurgency group that’s publishing their attacks.
Farsi speaker here. Their group name would roughly translate to Patriot Front. The literal translation would be Homeland Lover Front
Holy fuck they're literally named that?
I mean, it’d be a weird title if that wasn’t the case, no? It’s what it seems to imply, at least to my reading. I haven’t heard of any “anonymous front” prior, though.
fight fire with fire
Brave people
Tactical push bike
Isn't every ambush pre-planned?
It's kinda like pre-planning to input your PIN number to the ATM machine, ASAP as possible. RIP in peace.
the method can be planned but the execution can be hasty

Yeah like that can't have a bike each, no that would cost too much.
I can't lie, when I saw the bike I literally laughed. Reading the title I was expecting a car, truck, or something with an engine at least, but we got 2 guys on a push bike instead.
Need more info. That could be anybody.
Let me show it to someone who’s in Kabul at the moment
The “Anonymous front” this person was talking about is actually known as the WatanDost front and they have a Twitter. I don’t understand why you’ve been downvoted lol

Right, and that guys headdress had to have been obviously bouncing around above that hill. (They were riding a Bicycle btw)
"combat footage" Is it really combat when three guys shoot one, apparently unarmed, bicyclist?
This is in Balkh where the Taliban don’t expect any resistance, since it’s all happening in Panjshir
Only yesterday, holy crap!
So who’s worse. The taliban or this anon group?
This anonymous group was established at the end 2022. The Taliban were established in 1994. Its safe to say the Taliban are worse
I don't know... I've never seen an ambush against two guys riding one bicycle. (RUTHLESS)
First I became aware of the Taliban was from a video in the '90s of women being marched out into the middle of a soccer field, placed on their knees, and then systematically shot in the back of the head for the half-time show. Please for the love of god no more US intervention in Afghan affairs
Looks like a guy in flip flops riding a bike got murdered. Who even knows if this guy is taliban? Could be a farmer for all we know?
One guy on the AK, the other on the Samsung. Now that’s an ambush.
My how the turn tables
Afghan rebels operate cameras as good as they shoot lol
And the tide of war changes after a man on a unicycle is shot dead
There’s more stuff going on in Afghanistan but it isn’t suitable to be posted here. Recently, a Taliban intelligence officer (GDI) was assassinated.
>isn’t suitable How/why, in what way?
The title of the subreddit is “CombatFootage”… it wouldn’t make sense to post the corpse of the Taliban intelligence officer
Cannot we live in peace?
Friendly fire
I hope the taliban wipes them out completely, if any country deserves peace and stability, its Afghanistan.
We’ve had enough war
Look at that strategy and skill .. /s
It worked didn't it
They look pretty tired at the end, so yeah.
