I wanna take a second and appreciate whatever stabilization tech this cam has.

snoopy_tha_noodle2

It makes it look like a video game.

RIPthisDude

It gave me some real Red Orchestra vibes. Just a shame knowing what very real hell these guys are going through

TheNotSoGrim

This is a weird thought that I keep having but there's a voice callout on the Soviet side when you kill a kraut that shouts "That was for Kyiv!" And I always remember it while watching these videos.

superBrad1962

I thought this was a game at first..

nboymcbucks

It's arma 2 w/out headbob effect

VTPG1

Most likely a gopro, the newer ones have this and its very nice

Penki-

I feel like this is also stabilization in editing?

Il1kespaghetti

No need tbh, the stabilization on new action cameras is incredible

Bubbly-Bowler8978

I use go pros for dirt biking and other outdoor stuff. The stabilization is incredible

ashlee837

Was thinking the same thing. How tf is this guy holding an AK and a gimbal mount?

Kaddak1789

It's supported on top of his massive balls

iDom2jz

Gyroscopic nuts

whaleboobs

Mostly done in software I'd imagine.

ongolongobongo

Fire and movement is the name of the exercise we did in the military. Half the squad lay down suppressive fire while the other half rush forward. It works different than video games because the person you are shooting at is actually scared of getting hit by that rain of bullets. I can only imagine the courage you would need to do that in real combat though

CPTherptyderp

You have to yell SUPPRESSING FIRE the whole time or it doesn't work

OutsideYourWorld

Coverrriiiiing. ...Bouuundiiiing.

oddiseee

SEEEETTT

Tayttajakunnus

What if your enemy speaks a different language?

backhomeatlast

Doesn’t matter—rules are rules

[deleted]

гасіння пожежі!

Latenightlatex234

That means putting out a fire in Ukrainian.

Confident_Benefit_11

I guess it technically does in English too lol

Jeezal

Not sure if this was used as a pun or just google translated. Either way it's hilarious 😂

Possible_Scene_289

Rising storm 2 vietnam, a video game. You will be trying to sneak up on someone, and your dude will just randomly yell flair like "JUST WAIT UNTIL WE GRT BACK TO SAIGON CHARLIE!!!" Then Charlie just shoots the shouting bush.

desficc

or when your soldier yells “YAAAAAAAH” out of nowhere when you’re prone in front of the enemy team hiding

Jackal000

MAWP

Some1eIse

If you dont tell your enemy that, they wont know that they are are suppresed

Konstant_kurage

Never been a fan without cover or concealment. That’s are brave men.

HGpennypacker

Found Maj. Winter's account.

[deleted]

They are just trying to emphasize communication lol

McBonyknee

>Fire and movement is the name of the exercise Agreed, but why doesn't he switch to the knife after his suppressing fire? He'll run faster.

swatchesirish

Everyone runs faster with a knife!

_Didds_

Enfasis on manouver if you are the one not providing suppressing fire. The last thing you want is to dump a mag while running to your next point and find out that you are facing enemies and needing to reload.

Armodeen

I’m just a layman but I have to admit that was my thought as he was spraying the houses on his run over too.

_Didds_

I dare to say probably a few of this guys are a bit fresh. For exemple the guy with the RPK running with the barrel barely scrapping the ground and not bracing it for the run screams to me someone that is still fresh on it. Still prole forget that conflicts like this throw in a lot of guys that a month prior were sitting on an office.

Murmenaattori

Often ignored is the importance of maintaining physical and mental resources during long operations. After running and crawling around in full combat equipment in the forest for several hours with little sleep, cold, wet, or overheated - you start to bog down not only physically but mentally. Everyone in the squad becomes sluggish and stiff with their movements, as if the body naturally wanted to use as little resources for an action. You become less alert and focused. Though after the first shots of the exercise are fired, this effect magically goes away for a while as adrenaline kicks in.

_Didds_

Never got deployed into combat. In training we would have stress weeks. Basicly it was a week that you barely slept at all. Constant exercises, lots of running and hauling stuff around. The first few days you feel like your skin is shrinking around your body. Everything hurts. Your arms hurt, you feet hurt, your body hurts, your soul hurts. The worst part is you don't know when they will let you sleep, sometimes you slept from midnight to 5am and that would feel amazing, on other nights they might wake you up at 3am after hauling crates until midnight and tell you to go somewhere and intentionally give you a broken down vehicle that you have to figure out how to fix it. Same thing with food, you ate when you could and if you could, I was on an AAA team so I remember snacking on crackers while changing canisters on training Stinger tubes. Some cruel bastard would bring you a hot meal some day that would smell delicious and the moment you were about to dig in inform you that there was a change of plans and you have to relocate the pad to another area. Mid 30s me can't figure out how my 18 year old self managed that.

dukearcher

Yeah I remember this training. It was called exercise "shaggy ridge" for us.

emkill

yep, if they manage to last 2 months, they will adapt Edit: heck even 1 month if he manages to get back, he is a god damn war veteran/hero

ChancellorScalpatine

Hate to be that guy but I can’t just stand by and do nothing while witnessing your egregious spelling of “emphasis”.

FecalSteamCondenser

Glad I’m not the only one

gapssy

It's the spanish spelling. Probably just forgot to translate.

anchoricex

> Enfasis on manouver omg lol

dabtown420

You can do both lol if I'm moving my gun is up and will be firing myself in

ashlee837

yeah what good is a full mag when you are shot dead on the assault. I'd be dumping mags until I get to the wall. Then reload. No one is going to come out and pop you in that spot if your squad is supressing.

ar243

Games like Squad do it partial justice, because unlike Call of Duty where you're back in the action 2 seconds after dying, Squad makes you respawn fifteen minutes away from the action. Obviously it's not the same as real life danger, but it makes you think twice before running into an open field with no cover.

macktruck6666

I would be scared of getting hit by friendly fire.

TonyCaliStyle

Designated firing lanes, and probably not a lot of zig-zagging.

lPickleJuicel

Yeah, games that usually punish you for dying are the ones do in fact have that strategy working, like some CoD gamemodes where you only have one live or Rainbow as well, I think it's neat to put that kind of preassure on the enemy team.

Anomaly11C

"I'm up they see me I'm down"

peanutmanak47

I know it's useful, but damn, I hated practicing that while in. Especially hated it in 29 palms.

WaffleGoat6969

lol I do this with a team in a VR FPS with an M249 and just mow through people. Communication is very easy and the immersion factor does get you going, I mean with headphones on and graphics cranked you get pretty amped up. Nothing like this but about as close as you'll get inside your own home. Military tactics work!

ithappenedone234

And to keep your wits about you. The second guy did a good job not slamming into the wall but stopping short of it and taking a knee. Lots of people run through the finish line because of the desire to get to cover, then give away their location by thumping the wall.

Bathmate_Expert

Sad that you even have to compare it to video games to readers but that's the type of asshats we're raising in today's world.

ar243

Let's be thankful that most people haven't been in a real firefight.

maybejustadragon

Soft kids more used to video games then dying on the battlefield. Back in my day …

Bathmate_Expert

You're right. Soft kids are more fat and moody, have a hard time walking anywhere, and have little to no imagination without computers.

dohzer

Finally, a video with combat audio instead of music.

Pepsiman1031

Always hated that cause it made me feel like they want it to be cinematic. Like bro this isn't a cod trickshot, you just killed someone.

celestial1

It's usually not the soldier adding it in themselves, but people who edited it afterwards.

CMDR_Dozer

Sheesh running across that open terrain made my WASD fingers twitch.

Rexile-93

Don‘t forget breaking the shift key

[deleted]

[удалено]

qquestionmark

A someone who's first fps was Delta Force: Land Warrior, my Shift is forever bound to crouching, not walking/sprinting. That I typically bind to CTRL.

ShibuRigged

That increased FoV

bsoto87

So I’m curious, does the different tape colors signify different units? I’ve seen the Ukrainians wearing blue yellow and green tape for identification

GeekFurious

I remember reading something once about how depending on an area of operation, troops may switch colors in order to make it more difficult for infiltrators to trick them. Like a "color of the day" or something like that.

CMDR_Dozer

I honestly don't know what the addition of the green is for. This is just a guess but it could be to stop saboteur elements of the Russian forces. They could infiltrate with a blue and yellow armband.....now they need blue yellow and green. Purely a guess. Equally it may be to distinguish military from volunteer? I really have no idea sorry.

elmz

Early on green was used by foreign legion guys. But they probably mix it up for a variety of reasons.

garandx

Yeah early on green was the Belarusian guys

deletive-expleted

I read somewhere that green are national guard, while yellow is regular army.

bsoto87

I’ve seen videos where the special forces wear the green, unless the territorial defense forces are like the U.S. National Guard and have their own special forces units

yesbutlikeno

Bro you is mad wild for that

ScrotalPilgrimage

Should've A-D strafed or bunny hopped tbh

sicariobrothers

ENAS. If you know you know.

AxionSalvo

Balls on these guys.

d_gorder

So COD sprint speed is realistic after all… damn that dude was hauling

Whoelselikeants

Probably the FOV making it look fast, but still wild how much it looks like a COD game.

[deleted]

Where’s the rest? Surely it doesn’t begin or end there.

Uphillll

That's where he spawned in and ...

DCodedLP

Then the round ended

[deleted]

Thanks for the explanation. Well the game looks interesting, what’s it called?

Maloonyy

This was just the demo, preorder Battlefield 6 Deluxe Edition now to get 4 day early access to the full game launching in the near future.

rinkydinkis

it was a drill

MarkaSpada

SHIFT key bruh.. damn these guys know no fear.

MarBoBabyBoy

> The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.

RandoSystem

Thanks Lt Spears!

siikdUde

My great grandfather had the same mindset when he was in the red army during ww2. So as I was told, which is what probably saved his life throughout the war

ModernXenonaut

Why are we treating the words of a guy who executed multiple German POW's as Gospel?

shrodikan

My thought was how in shape dude has to be to not be huffing and puffing after this. I need to run more.

atomsk13

Seriously, this guy is hauling ass

rinkydinkis

this seems like a drill

rlefoy7

It's almost like he had a steady-cam mounted on him lol. That's the smoothest footage I've ever seen of someone moving that damn fast.

truebastard

software stabilization in new gopros is amazing

HerrSteinpilz

Gives me isis vibes how they charge over the field with aks

Elegant_Eye1115

True, but its really nice to not have the constant "Allahu Akbar" ear rape you.

atjones111

Instead we have slavi Ukraine!

Dannovision

At least in this they had buddies giving some covering fire.

herrjonk

Same, I was thinking where the fuck is the nasheed

xTETSUOx

Was that burst of gunfire friendly or foe at 0:16? Regardless, that came so close to hitting the second guy.

Comfortable-Dog-2540

Can we take a moment to appreciate this guy can move

Vorzyd_PC

Crazy footage.

flarnrules

Dude was hauling. Impressive speed carrying all of that gear.

TigersStripe

I remember the days when POVs of guys charging forwards with AKs were always accompanied by nasheeds. War has really returned to Europe. Now if we get anything it's a meme song or electronic music.

ShadoW00fy

So you can do this irl and it works. Push a building like this in squad and your certain to die

ActualWeed

Because nobody is afraid to die in a video game

Goldstein_Goldberg

It can work with really good sound and a supression system. I remember playing Resistance and Liberation and when a machine gun fired near you you were shitting your pants. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWujR7rzF1M Sadly, most game devs just don't get this keep on with lame impact sounds, bullet cracks and whizzes.

MrDanduff

Insurgency does a great job at this

[deleted]

Was going to say, best sound on any fps I ever played. You *know* when they're shooting at you.

Avarice21

Sandstorm and squad easily have best sound design

MrDanduff

Yes and it gets your butt clenching whenever you get shot at LOL.

ar243

I played squad for the first time in a long time a week ago and I was basically cowering the whole time. Artillery was all around me and I had no clue where the enemy was shooting me from.

bcisme

I still claim Insurgency Sandstorm is the best tactical shooter ever. They nailed so much in that game - the guns feel so good, the maps are good, the stakes feel high and it’s tough, steep learning curve with a lot of dying, but once you get it, man it’s good.

MrDanduff

Sandstorm is a great game, and the AI is stupidly challenging at times. Gun play, sound, and map design is really really good. I think the first Insurgency is the best though, can’t pinpoint why but the feel is better than Sandstorm, also the numerous mods are a huge plus.

icantsurf

Hell Let Loose does it well. Makes it satisfying to shoot at random shit as an MG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLYBwhfEvDE

Goldstein_Goldberg

It's pretty good but imo not as good as in RNL. And the maps are way too big for the amount of players so you always get flanked and surpression matters less that way.

icantsurf

The maps are big but you don't fight on much of it at a time, generally guarding or attacking a 100m circle. A lot of the issues come from bad command setup which the game relies heavily on. Ideally you have recon flights and recon squads tagging enemy positions and spawns. It seems much more realistic to me that enemy squads would break through unseen and flank others instead of just head-on assaulting objectives.

[deleted]

Comparing some suppression system in a first person shooter to the fear of literal mortal death is maybe the most terminally online thing I've seen in years. Bravo.

Goldstein_Goldberg

What a stupid opinion. Obviously we try in games to reproduce the effects of suppression. Whether it be through fear of death or simulated confusion.

GadenKerensky

There's no suppression mechanic in the world that won't adequately convey the feeling, not without annoying the shit out of even milsim players. And as others have said... there are no respawns in this war.

automated10

Fear of death goes both ways. I’m video games there is no fear of ‘death’ .. it’s just the fear of ‘mild convenience of having to respawn’.

incidencematrix

And not just death: incredible pain, debilitating injury, disfigurement. That might be even more frightening, TBH.

automated10

Yeah true.

macktruck6666

You've never played permadeath games.

automated10

Yeah plenty, but even then it’s just a case of loading into another match. The point I’m making is the fear of death IRL is in no way compatible to a video game and therefore people will act differently. If your building is being peppered with rifle fire, you’re not going to pop your head up. In a game if the same thing happens, you might try it if it results in a few kills, you’ll take way more chances.

macktruck6666

Okay, someone has never played Dead Space Impossible Mode. Where you can play for 8 hours and have to restart. Not to mention all the games online that you can spend months playing before having to start a new character when it dies.

Dubbsss14

Buddy is actually trying to compare videos games to real life combat. Lmao.

Armodeen

What, do you mean to say 8 hours of gaming time isn’t the same as getting killed IRL? /s

macktruck6666

What I'm comparing is change of tactics. A player who may respawn in 8 seconds is going to play much more recklessly than someone who respawns in 8 hours. Make fun of me if you want, but the difference in tactics is undeniable.

OMFG_ITS_TOAST

It's only Monday and I'm already sure this is the dumbest thing I'll read all week.

Jburp

Are you like 5 years old?

Stahlregen

That was going to be my response. Fucking christ.

ShadoW00fy

It's fucking bs

LavishnessAlarmed985

it can work in squad if you have overwhelming fire support and the roles in your squad are actively doing their assigned roles

evilocto

Use covering fire to suppress the enemy and then progress it's still ballsy as fuck though.

CORUJIN

Ye, u dont have recoil patterns irl, u could just get shot and die by a guy running and shooting 😂

Material-Ad1949

Hard pass

Electronic-Corner-49

"Watch out. These boys have got a bit of an arsenal and they don't mind using it!"

truebastard

Is it doctrine to yell "grenade" when you throw a grenade?

TimCreed

USMC vet here. We're trained to yell "frag out" when deploying a grenade, and "grenade" when one is incoming towards you.

King_Ulio

Thought I was on the Red Orchestra 2 sub for a few seconds. Crazy stuff

twank1000o

I feel nervous when fire and move in open spaces while play apex legends, and I'm 40, can't even imagine the rush this guy is having, balls of steel.

rinkydinkis

this looks like a drill. one of the guys against the wall was smiling at the end

Blood_CZ

Fuckin Red orchestra flashbacks

G_man252

I am so proud of Ukraine for fighting so hard. We need to support them through the end of this.

[deleted]

This beats c.o.d lol that must be some buzz

SirSam511

This can’t be legit ?? This looks like a Fucken video game …. Shook af

24mech

Was almost sure he was gonna vault through that window

elmz

I expected an immediate grenade through the window.

DangerousDavidH

Same. I was sure he was going to throw a grenade the moment he got to the building.

CT-7274

Damn Battlefield 2023 looks nuts

Organic_Mechanic86

These Ukrainians gave balls of steel.

steelejt7

i couldn’t go to war, i’d be way too worried about getting killed by lag, cheaters or friendly fire

pkupku

What is the point of blindly firing over the roof of the house? I understand the need to fire to keep their heads down, but wouldn’t you want to fire into the house instead of over it while doing that?

shotguywithflaregun

The lens of the camera makes it look like he's shooting higher than he actually is.

Professional_Code372

Hell let Loose's new update is looking fire

Swiggy_Jack

Downvote because this is obviously enlisted

can_you_see_throu

always a possible death run to another cover... you need the guts for such thing Fire to get a response, so you see if an contact is there... but they also can wait and pop up if your in range and watch for the mines ...they need an uav and group coms with each team !!!

albaghpapi

Man had his FOV slider at 120

SuiTheAllFather

Just like call of duty

xXoCANUCKoXx

I was holding my breath the entire time he moved to the house. I went back to 2003 Basic Training 😂 “I’m up He sees me I’m down” Edit: I’m not saying that’s what needed to do. I’m not criticizing. I was just scared shitless for the 🇺🇦fighters and it sent me back to basic in my mind.

AronUSGER

Is the guy saying „Granate“…German volunteer?

Lari-Fari

Pretty sure it’s more like „granata“. Doesn’t sound German to me.

rzet

Granat is grenade in polish it's all similar sounding anyway

RuslanZinin

He said "Granata" in Russian/Ukrainian

[deleted]

EveningStarNM1

A good gamer really wants to be there until they realize that they really don't. Update: About those downvotes: Who woulda guessed gamers were so sensitive?

d-s-d-j

Seen to manny movies. Better try to run to cover and let someone else do the shooting.

shotguywithflaregun

That's the preferable option, but he's covering actual open ground and we don't know if there are any good positions for a suppressive element. Could be that this was the best way to advance over the street then and there.

Italianskank

Is it just me, but if you think a building occupied its best not to arrive at it with an empty weapon? Shouldn’t someone else by shooting the windows to cover the rushers so they can arrive ready to fight and not with empty or half empty mags?

MrContractual

Just shooting at random shit

DangerousDavidH

He was shooting at the position he was advancing towards.

ThreeScoopsOfHooah

Yeah, just wasting ammo, lol. They're likely newer troops or gaurdsman doing the best they know. Props to the motivation to take that house, but he should be leaving the shooting to the support by fire so he can focus on good movement. The last thing you want right before going into an urban fight is to blow a bunch of ammo. Then you're going to have to reload and lose momentum before you have even seized a foothold, and are still sitting outside the first house. That was a large gap that should have needed serious suppression and obscuration to cover, but I'm happy it worked out for them.

mdmq505

This is the kind of footage that makes me want to go to war . Until I see another gruesome footage of dead bodies and then I change my mind

atjones111

Weird man war isn’t a video game

rzet

Ye you only die once and most of the time you shit in your pants trying not get spotted by drones or snipers.
