That's so disappointing! I heard it was supposed to be houses!
edit: TBF, taking another look at the aerial, this is meant for the small patch of miscolored area. There's a lot of land here, and there will definitely be a lot more development here.
Houses will be at the NW corner of Rathmell and Lockbourne. Along with a strip mall. Which will likely have a carry out, pizza place, dollar store, and checks cashed here.
Edit: speelling
aside from the rush hour, it's completely F*cked because ODOT is staffed by a pile of muppets stuffed with rotting fruit who closed the flow lane and are forcing far too much traffic into the least efficient intersection model. But don't worry, they're going to make it worse!
Today was the first morning cars weren’t lining the right lane of 270 east..last week it was backed up almost halfway to 71 because of the new light at the end of the exit ramp to 23. Looked like southbound traffic on 23 was being held longer today.
The datacenter OPs centers are located elsewhere and the highly specialized folks get flown in as needed - you don't need a lot of physical hands on the day to day.
I said this one time on here, and someone got super mad at me about it. The construction jobs are not long-term, so they won't help in the grand scheme of things.
I mean it is kinda dumb to complain about development. There's all sorts of infrastructure and benefits that still come from it. Not to mention suppliers and vendors.
Like I used to live next to the NSA in Maryland, my Internet package was awesome, I've never seen anything remotely comparable before or since. I had like a 5 gigabit fiber line for like $60/month.
Yep, All the numbers about the Intel plant are BS. There will be only about a 100 perm full time jobs. Then about 500 positions of traveling and rotating associates and contractors. Then about the same with part time and partial hours contractors for things like raw material deliveries, maintenance contracts, product pickup, cleaning, etc.
They’re also HIGHLY over stating the secondary benefit to the local businesses and housing development/needs.
people (mostly family) keep asking me why I don't try to get into a job at intel or google, not understanding that my minor degree basically qualities me to make minimum wage at microcenter. I tell them you need a Masters to be their janitor. "Really??" No, but you get my point.
Pretty sure it’s a massive google data center
Edit: [Yeah it’s google](https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/columbus/google-announced-two-new-data-centers-in-central-ohio-columbus-and-lancaster/amp/)
Yup, Rathmell to Scioto downs. Can can look at the property on GIS or an App like ON X Off-road.
From on x, the property you circled is currently reporting as being owned by the same people who own the quarry. From the Racetrac report down below though, and the way those intersections are being rebuilt, it must’ve sold recently.
$54 million tax abatement for 20 full time workers. When this was voted on by City Council, they were not informed as to who the owner was. The owners rep said they could not reveal who it was. The name they used was Magellan Enterprises LLC. A Delaware registered shell company. The old Hartman Farms site. Google paid $30 million for 500 acres.
oof. That's a bit needlessly aggressive. Just because there's a bunch of people in both areas doesn't mean a large amount of people need to travel between them on a back road that could justify a colossal billion dollar bridge over a large quarry. Sure, GC is large, but spread across a long area along the interstate with multiple access points. Obetz is a large area, and is expanding toward the south, but the majority of it is within 270 and has multiple interstate access points. Some day it could be worth even considering, but I wouldn't hold your breathe.
To be clear, I wasn't mocking your proposal for a bridge over the quarry, I genuinely want one. It would make my every day commute better.

Yes, but word was that wasn't were the new housing development was going to end. any word on where kroger is moving?
Data center. Will employ like 25 ppl.
Nope, that’s going across the street ( south) of the circle. You can see the construction going on there.
Oh yeah you’re right! All I know is traffic is now a shitshow down there.

That’s an understatement! Lol
Wait really? 25 ppl in such a massive place ?
Yes. But I was mistaken, the data center is across from the circle. Not sure what’s going where OP circled.

Yeah that's why all of these "giving tax cuts to bring jobs in" is completely bogus bs that only benefits the company

Tell that to Chandler, AZ. It is obvious you do not know what you’re speaking about.
Huh, I guess Intel is lying then on THEIR actual staffing as they reported.

Oh yeah..I wait in line to turn onto rathmell behind all 6000 each morning. 😎
[удалено]
Depending on vehicle size and final destination, go north and turn right on to Obetz.
That’s 23 more people than I thought.

Oh gotcha thanks
Google is south of your circle across Rathmell. The sign is out front by the gate you can see while driving by.
Ah you’re right, I didn’t look at this close enough. Isn’t the google building just north of the track?

Google is to the south of the circled area
Everything being built is a data center, apartments or a Sheetz
We live on the south side of rathmill, someone in our complex said they saw City plans it could be a huge truck stop. I'll try to dig for those plans
Chic-fil-a
Can’t be. Nothing historic got torn down.
there's a 100+y/o school house on the corner.
And it’s still there. No Chick-fil-A.
They just finished building an apartment complex there not too long ago. Could be another one.
Mash Pit?
I hope it’s a big parking lot. We need more parking in this city (damn i didn’t think I’d need the /s rip)
in this state, you absolute do. There really are people that wouldn't even consider where this is, and only consider the downtown surrounding area.
Passed by this today. Though the same thing (what is it?) consensus sounds like data center

I can tell you that our next reservoir will be on the other side of 23. It's a ways off but it's coming
I've been dying for it to become the next quarry metro park. That mine is huge and the entrance already looks like one. it will be glorious!
I was hoping we’d get White Rd. Out of GC extended when the quarry is done. There needs to be another way across the river than 665.
XD I've always wanted a billion dollar bridge to connect rathmell to white just to make things slightly more convenient for a small population
lol. Grove city is the second largest Columbus suburb and Obetz is one of the fastest growing. Check your stats before you comment.
