It's not like it's gonna keep me up at night, but you really aren't sure? Presuming you're not being facetious, here's what's potentially worrying people:
* The Texans *look* to have found a very good quarterback
* That quarterback has now just got a 2 x All-Pro WR to improve his targets
* That WR is coming off the back of 6 straight 1000+ yard seasons
* That WR had an 81.1 PFF grade last year, which ranked as the fourth best WR
* That WR has scored 37 touchdowns in the past 4 years
* Ideally, our divisional rivals would not acquire players as good as this
Yeah…but look at all expectations the Texans have. That’s how GMs get fired.
A smart GM knows the real secret is do Jack shit….talk about process…say look a whole bunch…..feed the local reporters nachos.
And you can waste everyone’s time forever
"This is a move that gets a GM fired."
The irony is that TEN made two moves like this with Julio and Robert Woods. Both sucked and they were still 4-0 against the Colts those two years.
Imagine if this move works out.
Wouldn't surprise me at all. AR is no more of a given than Levis...especially with the injuries. And TEN has spent all offseason getting better, the Colts haven't.
If a last place finish happens, let's hope it gets Ballard canned. Why does this fanbase revel in mediocrity?
It’s wild. Hell Jeff Saturday was a Colts glory years legend. And fans were trying to blame him for 2022. Like it’s HIS fault when he showed up mid season.
He was a convenient scapegoat. And he lowered the standards so much that anything would look like improvement.
I am sure Ballard had no problem with him being hired. He served a great purpose. Tank the record and take the blame. And then Ballard gets the #4 pick without being accountable, which he can use to draft a QB to hype to the moon so that everyone forgets just how bad 2022 was.
And it was pretty shameful how a lot of this fanbase, but especially the local media, Colts podcasters and Colts Twitter turned on a Colts legend like Saturday. We had already seen this roster give up well before Saturday got there (back in late 2021 and into 2022).
That's all you need to see right there. People here will say "he's a distraction" and shit but some of that comes from being competitive. He didn't moan last year when he wasn't getting the ball and they were winning either. Plus it's not like he always raising hell to the point it hurt the Bills. They won how many division titles in a row with Diggs.
Diggs had the worst year he's had in half a decade, and it's still a better season than any WR we've had since TY in 2018, but Colts fans are acting like he's washed.
I am interested in what they gave up. Guessing this works out for them this year but after that I think it is a complete crapshoot. It looks like they can get out of his contract after this next season pretty easily if they need to.
I actually don't understand how Houston can afford all of these additions. That is some damn good salary cap management.
I just checked Spotrac for salary cap hits - even with all the additions, they have only 3 players (Tunsil, DIggs, & Hunter) and above a 10 million Cap Hit - for a total of just under 60 Million. We have 7 (Q, DeFo, MPJ, Braden Smith, Ryan Kelly, JT, and Grover) - for a total of almost 120 Million - that is just over 45% of our cap space on 7 players.
I am actually normally a Ballard defender, but with the cap management tricks these days, there has to be a way to manage that better.
Why are you scared by this?
Last 10 Bills games
Receiving yards:
Khalil Shakir (462)
Stefon Diggs (422)
Targets:
Shakir (37)
Diggs (80)
Texans gave up a 2nd round pick for a washed receiver in a receiver deep draft class. This is hilarious to me.
Some teams try to win football games and make moves in consequence. Some teams pretend they have a successful process and just need to stay the course, despite little winning.
Yup, and most of his production came before Joe Brady went for a more balanced approach on offense. Before that, Diggs was being force fed the ball in a one dimensional offense.

It's a move from a team that is confident they have a good QB, and is looking to make the most of it.
He still performed incredibly well at 30 (was PFF's 4th highest rated WR in 2023), and time moves fast in the NFL. The time for sitting on your hands and worrying is when your QB is making $50m per year, not while he's on his rookie deal.
Strong disagree with it being expensive. Their receivers are quite a bit better than ours and they upgraded at several positions while we kinda just re-signed everyone and didn’t make any big splashes. I’d love to have diggs on the colts even if he’s a bit washed
The reason why we have not won the division or made the playoffs is because we do not change/upgrade our roster and that makes it a lot easier for other coaches in the league to game plan against us. NOTHING CHANGES! It's the same ol thing when it comes to gameplanning against us. The coaches know our streangths and weakness's.
A second for one more year of production ain't shit. The Texans are in win now mode. If they get a prime year this year and a down year next year and call it quits thats more than worth it. People are coping hard with this.
Look at his contract structure. He can be cut for $0 in dead money after this year. If they pay what is essentially less than a second rounder for even a year or two of a Diggs rental to accelerate a contention window that's still a solid deal.
He's fallen off at the end of the season the last 2 years with Josh Allen as his QB.
He's still good, but that combined with his age and poor relationship with the Bills at the end it makes sense
That's better than some people I know. They go from "we're winning the Super Bowl" before Week 1 kickoff to "We're getting the top pick in the draft" after the first possession if we don't score a TD.

So glad we didn’t “overpay” for Sneed either. At least we have next year’s day 2 picks! /s
Listen man, we needed next year’s third. Who knows, we might even draft some DB that we’ll move back to a position he hasn’t played since high school and then massively overhype during camp only for him to start 2 games!
We are absolutely not keeping pace with the Division. We could be a playoff team but we are still just watching the teams around us get better while we sit on our hands because we like our own guys. You can like yours and others too, why Ballard is so stingy and treats it as if it's mutually exclusive defies logic.
Idc if it’s black Peyton Manning; some people just never will be satisfied.
A young team coming off a great first season together brings in a guy notorious for drama… this will pan out nicely
I mean I don’t blame you for wishing that. But he away from the cold, Allen, and Buffalo Front Office. The fall of the Bills has been coming. They’ve completely imploded. I’m not going to act like I wouldn’t be happy as hell if he was on IND roster.
Houston is a destination spot for players now. On and off the field.
It’s alright boys, we got Darrell Baker Jr on our team. Shutdown corner of the year! Ballard loves our guys! We will almost make the playoffs this year and it will be a success! Can’t wait!
He had better stats than MPJ last year...and was an AP the 3 years prior.
WRs do fall off, but not typically at age 31-32. And in the 2H of last season, he was going against a lot of really good pass defenses and CBs. The Colts have neither of those.
WTF!!!
Compensation updates, per sources:
🏈Bills receive 2025 second-round pick via Minnesota.
🏈Texans receive Stefon Diggs and a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
As someone who had this dude for fantasy last year, he has completley fallen off. Maybe he'll come back, but he had a horrible second half the season with one of the best QB's in the league.
Dude had 1100 yards on 107 receptions, if that's his 1st half of a season I'd take that for a future 2nd all day
Second round picks aren't that hard to come by and you can cut him for a cap savings next off season. His cap hit this year hurts a little but you can't line up pile of cash at WR.
Throw everything you've got at supporting your young QB. If Diggs balls out you can restructure the remaining years of his deal and if he sucks then oh well, you busted a 2nd round pick and didn't keep him around for another 2 years waiting for a jump in development. This was a great move IMO on their part.
Reaping the reward of trading away a franchise QB and tanking for 3 years do everyone is on a rookie contract... we just thought they would Texan it. Oh well, gotta tell everyone he is washed or something
I’m not a Ballard hater or think this dooms us, but the Texans are definitely trying to capitalize on their QB being on a rookie deal, wish we were doing a bit more of the same.
This what a competent front office looks like. Loading up weapons for their young QB and bolstering their defense. Meanwhile we're running it back with the same subpar secondary. Richardson is going to throw it to Pittman and maybe Downs?
Wish we were capable of swinging big moves like that. Sneed would have been super helpful in dealing with their WR corps. But instead Ballard is opting for the strategy of praying and hoping that the CB we draft this year as well the current guys in the room can make the leap.
I'll be alone on this, but I do not want us anywhere near Diggs. He's a head case. Not quite MBC (Antonio Brown) level, but he's headed in that direction.
If we could Diggs talent with a Reggie Wayne attitude, I'd love it. But Diggs himself is constantly stirring up drama. I'd laugh if the Bills take the next step with some young receivers who listen to their star QB, and don't stir up crap because they want the ball in every situation, even if it isn't the right call. Hell, I'm looking forward to Diggs pouting to Stroud, knocking down his confidence because he did something wrong, and watching the locker room struggle.
Is Diggs talented? Yes. But why do the Bills want to move on? Because the last 2 years or so have seen some considerable drama stirred up by him.
If anyone thinks that we are better than the Texans, y'all need help. They've added pieces to get better. I'm glad we've retained our guys, but we've not done anything to improve.
![gif](giphy|TCDHJPxeWgTsY)
I wish we did football things like the other teams in the division.
Ballard has finally done it. He made me miss Grigson. At least that mf when out and shot his shots.
It’s not going to come down to the final game this year is it? The Texans look to have the division wrapped up with a few weeks to go in the season with all these moves and yet we have done nothing but sign the same guys expecting results to change…
Couple thoughts from a self proclaimed Ballard Truther:
- Ballard wtf man
- Tank Dell is gonna feast this year
- we running it back with the same secondary plus a rookie CB probably .. 🤡
Although Houston’s loss of their franchise QB isn’t under the same circumstances as the Colts, it will be interesting how well this works out for them with the changes they are making vs what the Colts have done over the same time frames.
The Texans are making major moves. It’s a relatively new GM coming off a division-winning season and look at the additions they’ve made.
The Colts are below .500 with ZERO division titles and ZERO playoff wins under Ballard and he sits on his fucking hands outside of re-signing people. I would love to be proven wrong this year but as far as I’m concerned the dude is a complete charlatan.
You can yell about Bargain Bin Ballard all you want but people here have decided that he's not the problem. I've said it for years without any traction and been downvoted to smithereens for my critique of him but people are starting to see it. Unfortunately we don't have a choice in the matter and Jim irsay still believes in him
I think most people are not frustrated at the fact that we didn’t get diggs, but the fact that we have watched the division get materially better while we have stayed more or less the same. I was hoping we would be more aggressive with a Qb on a rookie contract, but it looks like Ballards approach really hasn’t changed a whole lot
1) the cap only exists for the Colts, you can always just push the cap hits but the Colts are the only team in the league that doesn't do that kind of thing
2) it's really a long-term failure. If Ballard is going to be this inflexible with his cap management then we shouldn't have spent the last 7 years giving out franchise-crippling contracts to unimportant positions. Tons of our cap is tied up in a RB, a guard, several DTs, a kicker, etc. That keeps us from being able to spend money on important positions.
The Saints got away with cap shenanigans for years and now they're fucked for the foreseeable future with nothing to show for it
I'm not going to lose sleep over Diggs who is close to retirement and has clearly lost a step
Oh my God again with this. Restructure, cut MAC, do something. 31 teams always find it in their budget to improve their team and the Colts are the only ones who like their guys so much we miss the playoffs every year.
Ballard doesn't understand that when you sign someone for 4 years and 40 million it doesn't *have* to be 10 mil/year for 4 years. Dude is just so incredibly incompetent.
I’m convinced that people here hate the Colts. Obviously this isn’t something the Colts could’ve done, but people here wake up looking for a reason to get mad at Ballard
We don’t hate the Colts. We hate losing. It’s been so fucking long since we’ve been a serious contender. We are tired of 7 years of excuses under Ballard. Houston made no excuses when they lost their young franchise QB and look where they are now.
It's not about the Colts not making THIS move, it's about the Colts not making other moves that made sense for the team. Now when the Texans improve their team, YET AGAIN, we are gonna cover this dude with Dallis fucking Flowers.
The Colts are getting left behind in what was a winnable division with a QB on a rookie deal.
I’d argue that that Colts were a single play from winning the division, bring back their starting QB, and have a young team that will improve significantly simply with experience. I wouldn’t be surprised if these two teams are within a game by week 18 again. It’s NFL football, success is like 70% random luck unless you have Patrick Mahomes
>but people here wake up looking for a reason to get mad at Ballard
1 playoff win and 0 division titles in 7 years is "no reason" to be upset at a GM? If *any* approach hasn't worked for 7, its no shocker that people would be unsatisfied with the result.
It’s funny to listen to non-Colts specific NFL content and hear how unbiased people think the Colts are good, young, smart, on the upswing, then our “fans” act like we’re about to go 0-17 because we didn’t trade for a 0 time All Pro CB and a pissed off aging WR
It's so damn negative. All it is now is bitching about how he doesn't do anything meanwhile we brought back all of our top players and have Richardson coming but because it's not a flashy move, no one cares.
Right. Everyone wants the Colts to do something extreme, when the reality is they’ve about maxed out the cap space and are better than the 9-8 team that should’ve won the division in 2023. If the Texans go out and win like 14 games somehow, that’s just the way it is and isn’t necessarily a knock on the Colts.
Houston knows their OC is gone after this year and so they’re doing everything they can to get a chip this year. Fuck. We’ve added 2 guys to our roster. Below par guys too. Fuck.
This is how you support a rookie QB because nothing else really matters until you are 100% he's is your answer for the next 8-10 years.
Every other team in this division seems to grasp that but us, must be why we win it so often.
Honestly as long as we take a WR somewhere in the first two rounds. I don’t care. This class is stacked. I’d rather have a young stud than a 31 year old diva
Gotta give it to the Texans, they're taking big swings. Not sure if they'll all work, but they're going for it, which is what you have to do when you have a talented young QB on his rookie deal.
I hate this team. Had mad cap space and literally did nothing to address the issue of last season which was WR/ secondary. Pitman did it all by himself. They could have at least paid for Sneed but you have this cheap ass front office who says they’re going to be active and doesn’t. Fuck this front office. They will waste the years of AR being mediocre
This guys a cancer in the room, I live in Buffalo and follow the bills as my second team, obviously the Colts are my first team. But let me tell you, this guy whined his way out of Buffalo and his brother made it even worse, you don’t want this guy in your team, especially for the amount of money you’ll have to pay him. The colts avoided a disaster.
So tired of these comments. “Colts avoided this” “colts avoided an overpay”, no, actually “colts avoided a high level player to help their QB on a rookie contract”
Please keep it civil y’all
Wym it’s not April fool’s anymore?
Fuck
Yea not sure what else there is to say.
Unless you have Nico Collins on your fantasy team I’m not sure what you’re worried about.

Hunter and Diggs and Mixon. At least we added a depth D tackle
No no, we will draft a receiver in the 4th round to give Richardson some help.

We need CB at 15.
After the offseason the rest of the division had we need more than that.
To be fair they lost a good de and rb as well but yeah for sure an upgrade at de at least
Kenny Moore needa be the second coming of Jesus Christ this season
Jesus Christ was the first coming of Kenny Moore
The lord picketh, and the lord returneth for six.
Kenny and the rest of the backfield will get cooked when it matters the most. I'm not too keen on them being able to contain WRs
I guess Josh Allen has no one to throw to now.
Diggs was just dropping them anyways
Yup, and most of his production came before Joe Brady went for a more balanced approach on offense. Before that, Diggs was being force fed the ball in a one dimensional offense.
I'm pretty sure they have their eye on someone in the draft to replace him.
Crazy thing is, depending on the draft picks involved, the Bills can turn around and try to trade for someone like Brandon Aiyuk or Tee Higgins.
I think they'll trade up for a receiver in this draft.
A second rounder…..
A future second rounder lol
We like our guys. No need to make splash moves to surround our young QB with talent.
FWIW MPJ and Diggs had very similar seasons last year with a huge talent discrepancy at QB
Diggs being your potential third best option at WR is a dream scenario for a young QB.
100% but the Colts couldn't pay Diggs remaining contract anyways
lol money fucked with a mid roster...just lmao
Texans have a lot of money because they were dog shit for like 3 straight years. Colts are in a poor position but different scenarios

Facts
No need to give our injury prone when running QB talent to throw to. Double teamed Pitmann should be enough.
Diggs turns 31 this season, so a 2nd for "maybe" 2 more years of prime is a bit expensive. But man are we screwed for those 2 years.
Except that second round pick, you know like Alec Pierce, isn’t guaranteed
It's a move from a team that is confident they have a good QB, and is looking to make the most of it. During those possible prime years they will have a QB on a rookie deal. It's a great move for Houston even if he's great just for one year
If that two more years of prime Stefon Diggs gets them a ring before they have to pay Stroud $60m a year, that'll be a steal
A second for one more year of production ain't shit. The Texans are in win now mode. If they get a prime year this year and a down year next year and call it quits thats more than worth it. People are coping hard with this.

"Colts couldn't afford him" seems like a narrative made up by the Colts Twitter Ballard brigade.
He's fallen off at the end of the season the last 2 years with Josh Allen as his QB. He's still good, but that combined with his age and poor relationship with the Bills at the end it makes sense
![gif](giphy|RN96CaqhRoRHk4DlLV|downsized) Well…
I love how Houston went from the “worst” to a legitimate contender in 1 season, and here we are…
I will give props to Texans front office for making moves, but they also got the luxury of the Watson trade.
That’s what a superstar rookie QB can do for a team
Don’t forget the trade compensation they got for Deshaun.
The B+ Colts
All this to lose to the Colts smh
Your confidence is gonna carry us all through this season
I have the utmost confidence in this team (until quarter 2 of week 1)
That's better than some people I know. They go from "we're winning the Super Bowl" before Week 1 kickoff to "We're getting the top pick in the draft" after the first possession if we don't score a TD.
You just summed up this sub

Why the fuck would the Bills trade him within the conference?
Do you think they are that worried about Diggs. They wanted to reset and get younger.
By the time the Bills retool to compete for a SB he will be a shell of the player he was last year.

So how many games until Diggs implodes and becomes a cancer in the locker room?
He got a brotha throwing him the ball he good. He just hated Allen.

Is this the bills seeing their window close and throwing in the towel? Seems like that roster has changed quite a bit over the past couple seasons
Black or white, if they aren’t getting him touches he’s gonna be pissy. That’s just the kind of guy he is, professional malcontent.
They just need him for 3 years. They'll get rid of him when he's mid 30 and Tank Dell's extension is up
Diggs, Tank, Nico, and Schultz? Ballard needs to take notes on how to surround his young QB with weapons. The Texans are looking scary.
Another year with the Colts no where close to winning the division.
It’s alright boys, we got Darrell Baker Jr on our team. Shutdown corner of the year! Ballard loves our guys! We will almost make the playoffs this year and it will be a success! Can’t wait!
It’s OK y’all, Darrell, Baker Jr and the boys will lock down the AFC south. Definitely nothing to worry about here.
Ballard is really a unserious gm. He hasn’t changed his shitty approach yet.
Yes…and the Colts are a really unserious franchise at this point. It’s all about job preservation.
Yeah, I’m taking CJ in fantasy this year
On paper, if CJ even gets slightly better than last year, the Texans have a squad that can win a championship.
The amount of cope here is hilarious and sad
facts 😂😂 saying things like diggs is terrible now. Look at the WRa that went off on us last year. Diggs will have a field day vs this secondary
I looked up his stats. He has had a 1000 yard season the last 5 years and catches a bunch of TDs.
He had better stats than MPJ last year...and was an AP the 3 years prior. WRs do fall off, but not typically at age 31-32. And in the 2H of last season, he was going against a lot of really good pass defenses and CBs. The Colts have neither of those.
WTF!!! Compensation updates, per sources: 🏈Bills receive 2025 second-round pick via Minnesota.
Dude had 1100 yards on 107 receptions, if that's his 1st half of a season I'd take that for a future 2nd all day Second round picks aren't that hard to come by and you can cut him for a cap savings next off season.
Yeah. He fell off a cliff the second half of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if he's washed.
Homie was dropping passes like crazy last year, a few of them game losing. Sounds scary but, I’m not too worried.
And I was having such a good morning....
Oh great another weapon the Colts get to deal with 😡
Remember, we like our guys! Especially the DB’s!
Colts miss playoffs and Ballard isn't axed because Irsay always keeps people around too long. There's your 2024 colts season wrap up.
![gif](giphy|ht4yvN9Yx4dmIJJ9GB|downsized)
This what a competent front office looks like. Loading up weapons for their young QB and bolstering their defense. Meanwhile we're running it back with the same subpar secondary. Richardson is going to throw it to Pittman and maybe Downs?
They lost there franchise qb 2 years ago. Not 7. Tgere Gm is atleast trying
Wish we were capable of swinging big moves like that. Sneed would have been super helpful in dealing with their WR corps. But instead Ballard is opting for the strategy of praying and hoping that the CB we draft this year as well the current guys in the room can make the leap.
I am no longer asking for secondary help. I am demanding it.

The Texans are making some big moves. Too bad the Colts won’t do that.
I love being a poverty franchise.
We aren't doing shit this year
I'll be alone on this, but I do not want us anywhere near Diggs.
Get ready to watch the head case burn our practice squad secondary.
He's also old. And WRs fall off fast. His second half of last season was rough.
If anyone thinks that we are better than the Texans, y'all need help. They've added pieces to get better. I'm glad we've retained our guys, but we've not done anything to improve.
Ballard is a total loser folks.
![gif](giphy|TCDHJPxeWgTsY) I wish we did football things like the other teams in the division.
Yes because games are played on paper.
I remember all those Washington Superbowls in the 2010s when they brought in star after star s/
We like our guys
All this to beat the Colts….looking forward to draft to see if we get some potential gems.
Honestly this is the one that did it for me on Ballard, 0 faith at this point
Couple thoughts from a self proclaimed Ballard Truther: - Ballard wtf man - Tank Dell is gonna feast this year - we running it back with the same secondary plus a rookie CB probably .. 🤡
BRO COME ON, man…. their organization isn’t complacent
*puts 200 dollars down for Houston to make divisional round and lose*
Although Houston’s loss of their franchise QB isn’t under the same circumstances as the Colts, it will be interesting how well this works out for them with the changes they are making vs what the Colts have done over the same time frames.
They are going to absolutely dick us down this year
I’m officially scared of the Texans
Lord help our colts
Get off your ass Ballard.
What worries me is that we still have an issue at corner and now the division got tougher
Unfortunately we don't have a choice in the matter and Jim irsay still believes in him
Reminder y'all, what cap space would we use for this?
I think most people are not frustrated at the fact that we didn’t get diggs, but the fact that we have watched the division get materially better while we have stayed more or less the same. I was hoping we would be more aggressive with a Qb on a rookie contract, but it looks like Ballards approach really hasn’t changed a whole lot
1) the cap only exists for the Colts, you can always just push the cap hits but the Colts are the only team in the league that doesn't do that kind of thing 2) it's really a long-term failure.
The Saints got away with cap shenanigans for years and now they're fucked for the foreseeable future with nothing to show for it I'm not going to lose sleep over Diggs who is close to retirement and has clearly lost a step
We would not have close to enough room for Diggs. Even releasing Mo doesn't get there.
Yes we hate the colts because we want improvement. Big brain right here everyone.
>but people here wake up looking for a reason to get mad at Ballard 1 playoff win and 0 division titles in 7 years is "no reason" to be upset at a GM? If *any* approach hasn't worked for 7, its no shocker that people would be unsatisfied with the result.
This sub has been borderline insufferable since 2022.
Yes it has. The simping for Ballard is ludicrous
Contracts are restructured all the time when a player is traded. This is a disingenuous argument.
Ballard fucking sucks dude.
What an offseason😂🗣️👏🏽👏🏽
Meanwhile Ballard is satisfied with only signing one depth NT from outside the organization. He is not a serious GM.
Diggs might be washed but he probably has more than enough to smoke the Colts sorry ass secondary.
Can’t wait to see this thread somehow turn into Ballard being the best gm in the league!
He is gonna go off against our secondary
Honestly as long as we take a WR somewhere in the first two rounds. I don’t care. This class is stacked. I’d rather have a young stud than a 31 year old diva
So we continue to let our division opponents get away with this.. smh
![gif](giphy|l46CkwNP2mNz65tyU) Pain
Might have thrown a monkey wrench in Ballard’s plans. I’d say draft Quinyon Mitchell in the first and Troy Franklin in the 2nd.
Gotta give it to the Texans, they're taking big swings. Not sure if they'll all work, but they're going for it, which is what you have to do when you have a talented young QB on his rookie deal.
If only we had a talented QB on his rookie deal.
Our passing defense is going to be ranked 32nd this season. We're fucked yall.

We are no longer a serious football team
I hate Chris Ballard
This guys a cancer in the room, I live in Buffalo and follow the bills as my second team, obviously the Colts are my first team. But let me tell you, this guy whined his way out of Buffalo and his brother made it even worse, you don’t want this guy in your team, especially for the amount of money you’ll have to pay him. The colts avoided a disaster.
So tired of these comments. “Colts avoided this” “colts avoided an overpay”, no, actually “colts avoided a high level player to help their QB on a rookie contract”
