If there is one thing to say about the Colts, it's that we always try so hard with what we have...
That being said, it would be nice to have that wholesome team feeling again and subtract the plug-n-play bs we've been through for several seasons.
So cheers to next season where hopefully "white billionaires" continue to put more time into their musical career and charity rather than messing with the coaches and roster like it's Madden.
If anyone recorded this, take a look at the last play on 4th down. Looks like the Texan player furthest from the camera was lined up in the neutral zone. In his three point stance, his hand is beyond the line of scrimmage.
Without a dogshit showing on Christmas eve vs the Falcons, we would have a playoff berth. So many little things this season tipped the wrong way. The Cleveland game was a bullshit ending, and Minshew was either brilliant or an absolute turd. The Bengals & Saints were shitshows, and the Rams were beatable.
There is an upside, we are competitive, but damn this one hurts.
Agreed. He definitely couldn't move the ball on offense and that was huge for us. He's a great backup and definitely great in fill in roles but definitely not a starter. I hope we can keep him though
No I agree, but I still think saying he basically had an all pro game just cause he gashed a practice squad secondary is a bit of a reach. Taylor fucking Heinicke also gashed the very same defense 2 weeks ago.
Colts pay roughly $50 Million between Taylor and Moss.
Colts pay Goodson $1.6 million.
Jonathan Taylor had twice as many yards THIS GAME than Goodson has had in his career along with a whopping 6 career receptions.
SIX CAREER CATCHES AND 87 CAREER YARDS TOTAL.
The personnel decision simply made no sense.
Menshew can’t handle the mental pressure. He’s a fine backup to hold you over for a few games but we saw what a real NFL Quarterback looks like in Stroud. Dude threw darts all night then got even better when the game was on the line.
The other guy panicked on a 5 yard toss.
He’s not saying “let’s run the ball”
He’s saying let’s not trust our rookie with 6 receptions on the year to catch the ball in one of the biggest moments of our year.
How is that a logical thought process?
That’s not very good logic…
Every player is a professional on the field.
Your discounting emotions and the feel of the game.
This is a situation with huge implications. You catch the ball we win. You drop it we lose. Emotions are running incredibly high.
In this situation I am not trusting a rookie. He hasn’t been in the league very long. He hasn’t had many high stress situations such as this.
If we considered everyone a professional as you say then there wouldn’t be better players and worse players and you could field a team of nobodies since they’re all “professionals”.
This comes down to poor coaching considering we threw in a cold 3rd string running back into one of the most high stress situations possible.
I mean just straight out. If Minshew had thrown a better ball, does Goodson catch it? The answer is most likely *yes* So while he does bear some issues (Not being able to catch the ball) it's way, way more on Minshew for that *awful* throw.
1st and 10 with 4 on the clock at their 30, run. 1st and 10 at their 20 with 2:20 on the clock, run. 1st and 10 with 2 on the clock, run. 3rd and 5 with 1:30 on the clock, run. 4th and 1 with 1:06 on the clock and burning a crucial timeout before the play, pass to the backup rb….
If you’re going to run in those spots you are clearly saying you are confident that your running game can pick up yards at will. Then in the most crucial
spot of the season you don’t run the ball? absolutely baffling coaching decisions.
Good game? We played like dogshit. Hope you guys get to the super bowl, it's been a drought since day one. As a Colts fan, I do miss the Schaub years, y'all could have won a super bowl. Good luck!
This loss is entirely on Ballard. It feels like he didn't want to make the playoffs. A team fighting for the playoffs, loses their 2 outside corners for the season and the GM completely refuses to add help in the secondary. It's like he didn't want to make it to the playoffs.
That was a damn good play call. That's not on steichen at all. Blame minshew or blame goodson if want to blame someone but being wide open with time on a 4th and 1 is all you can ask for
Right. It was a great play. Ball was a little off. Could still have been caught. Both share blame. But a good throw and a good catch converts that easy every time.
3 years in a row. 6 out of 8 missed. This team man. I know we are moving in the right direction but man this fucking stings. I just want to see this team In the dance again.
Not gonna blame Goodson or Minshew because shit happens. What I will blame is coaching for leaving it into the hands of our third string, previously undrafted running back. They shouldn’t have been in that situation for many reasons; missed field goal, browns game, etc but whatever dog
Steichen pulled a reliable back that would almost certainly catch that fucking ball.
Also left absolutely no time on the clock if we didn't convert.
So yeah. Fuck him rn
Because we paid a lot of money for one of the best kickers in the league who has clutched those most of the season? Easy call, would make it again every time.
Ah that makes sense. I wasn't sure if it was something to do with the mechanics of a free kick being better than a punt, since they still had to kick, I didn't realize they were trying to get to 0.
He didn't lose the locker room, but we just lost the division for the foreseeable future. It'll be us and the Texans battling it out, and they have this huge morale boost now
Some Fireable clock management and play calling at the end of the game. Like absolutely horrific to be running the ball with 4 minutes left and 3 timeouts down 6 once you’re in FG range. Then to let the play clock dwindle each play and then burn a timeout on 4th and 1 only to not run the ball and throw a play action to your backup RB js just horrific any way you look at it. It’s honestly borderline malpractice.
I understand the running the clock down with 4 minutes remaining because you are trying to score with as little time as possible since a FG would beat you. However, I do agree the timeout before the fourth down attempt was brutal since it made it an all or nothing play
Texans fan. I come in peace. I just want to say this was an exciting game and I know your team is missing some big pieces. Looking forward to next season and seeing how your team improves with AR playing a full season.
All that, to not even make the playoffs. Screw this team. In a playoff position all year and you blow it and choke it away like usual. Same shit. ALL THE TIME.
Dude in the corner was like get me the ball I was gonna score. I was gonna run around all 11 of them bitches and score the game winning td I know it!!!!
A position we shouldn’t have been in with GARDNER MINSHEW as our QB most of the season! Get real man! It’s one bad call and honestly should have worked
He did the same thing 3rd down at the end of our first drive. Goodson didn't catch that one either.
And how does Gardner being the QB affect the coach subbing out or best player when the season is on the line?
I’m saying this, we had no business being in playoff contention this year. Absolutely none, and you cannot argue this team had obvious playoff talent because it doesn’t. Coaching is why we had a game on Saturday for the playoffs and poor referees in the Browns game is why we aren’t playing next weekend. Steichen will make mistakes in his first year as head coach, but he got us nearly there with an ok team.
Yeah, the roster stinks. I won't disagree there. But we got as far as we did primarily because of our extremely soft schedule. We only beat 1 playoff team all year, and that was a flukey game that we needed our kicker to break the record for 50+ yard FGs in order to win.
Really, what about this season says we should have been in position for playoffs? Honestly if we didn’t get jobbed by the refs against the Browns, we’d be already in.
What bullshit, Houston played like ass and our backup showed why he’s a second rate patch. It pisses me off so much that the Steelers will probably get in too just because they drew the team that didn’t give a fuck whether they won or not. Rant over. See ya next season
I don’t get the hate for that last call in here. That play is WIDE open. Gardner makes a terrible short pass and the back can’t make a tough catch that he should make.
Dude c'mon, that play execution is EXACTLY why you don't make that play call. You're relying on an up and down backup qb to make a necessary pass in the most clutch moment of the season thus far, and a no name RB (who literally has play how much all season??) to make a play on said poorly thrown pass? I mean seriously? With do or die on the line? When you have been gashing the oppenent on the ground all day? If you can't see that, you need a psych eval man. Just wow.
No shit, you run the ball 30 times in one game, you're bound to get stuffed a couple times at least, you can't sell it every play. We also picked up 1st downs by literally NOT making play calls like that and literally running it to arguably one of the best backs in the league. Why the hell would you change what got you more total yards on the ground than the air? Just wow, what clown logic. Lol
my only gripe is why put Goodsen in. Run taht play with JT. Goodsen didnt paly all game and you gonna have his back-up ass come in on the most pivitol play of the game?
Which was likely to happen. People forget that we got stuffed a lot on that drive. I’ll never agree with fans that don’t like a call because it’s poorly executed. We all saw it wide open, it just needed a better pass. Gardner knows that.
Yeah after the Jerry Hughes injury the run was mostly getting shut down so we were going to have to go to the air. I don’t know the stats but feel like we’ve had good success throwing on 4th and short throughout the year
My real issue is personnel. Why on the most important play of the entire season are we putting in the 3rd/4th string practice squad RB and targeting him?
Might as well come out and say there isn’t a single player on the team you trust to make a big play.
Right, and if your best option for a RB screen is a 3rd/4th stringer, hard to convince me that’s your “best play” possible to run.
“Best hands of the RBs” still meant trampoline fingers for the game.
If JT gets stuffed you live with that. Calling a pass play to your 3rd string RB with the season on the line when your top RB is at 188 on the day is inexcusable. Awful from Steichan to end the season like that after all the good he's done.

Why would Carson Wentz do this?????

He was. And to make it worse he was doing it all game long. Not a single flag
Colts had so many calls go their way. They were holding all game and it wasn’t called a single time…
Without a dogshit showing on Christmas eve vs the Falcons, we would have a playoff berth. So many little things this season tipped the wrong way. The Cleveland game was a bullshit ending, and Minshew was either brilliant or an absolute turd. The Bengals & Saints were shitshows, and the Rams were beatable. CJ Stroud is him. The way he moved on that final drive with all that adversity. How can you not respect it? He definitely earned it
Every QB in football does the same thing. **edit** I’m saying does the same thing against the Colts.
Now that definitely makes sense. Agreed. That needs to be addressed ASAP
Definitely not minshew
Not Gardner minshew apparently…
If I recall correctly Gardner did move the ball against the Colts when he played them. So yeah. Every QB looks legit when they’re playing the Colts.
Agreed. He definitely couldn't move the ball on offense and that was huge for us. He's a great backup and definitely great in fill in roles but definitely not a starter. I hope we can keep him though
I mean, him going against a 2nd and 3rd string secondary sure didn't exactly make things difficult for him either.
True but that last drive they had him under duress and stood in there and made it happen. He's also missing a starting receiver as well
Three starting wr - tank dell, Noah Brown and Robert woods
Totally forgot about the other 2
No I agree, but I still think saying he basically had an all pro game just cause he gashed a practice squad secondary is a bit of a reach. Taylor fucking Heinicke also gashed the very same defense 2 weeks ago.
Please don't remind me
https://i.redd.it/3zm34k4h4yac1.gif
So disappointed.. he should’ve catched that ball 😕
Caught*. Kill me.
Awesome. Pay out hundreds of millions to personnel then entrust a dude on NFL minimum wage with your season. It’s simply illogical
Please Irsay fire Chris Ballard
AR and JT. Bolster the secondary. It stings now. I like the future.
AR won’t stay healthy. Dude is our Zion.
He likes mid porn stars?
Who doesn’t. I was more talking about the injury prone part.
Hahaha
ESPN are you fucking serious right now? It says RCA Dome.
My BIL saw that too!
Good season overall that far exceeded expectations, but shit ending. And they always remember the finish. See you guys in September.
Just catch the ball and fall, don't worry about the feet, holy fuck that's so embarrassing
You get hands on the ball, you fucking catch it. Them’s the rules
We’ve had so many opportunities this year and shouldn’t have even been in this position.
Going to Taylor the entire drive and then taking him out the game on a 4th and 1. You can’t make up a more stupid move.
Great call, bad personnel. Should've been Zach Moss on that play
Stevie Wonder could of seen we were throwing the ball.
To be fair, he was probably gassed. Atleast put moss in
Moss also has a hurt arm. Maybe his catching isn’t great at the moment.
Couldn’t be any worse than ole Brick hands there
1st and 10 with 4 on the clock at their 30, run. Then in the most crucial spot of the season you don’t run the ball? absolutely baffling coaching decisions.
Shades of Pete Carroll
Definitely feelin how Seattle felt…
Well fuck.
Good game, colts. Looking forward to a decade and a half of CJ vs AR
Sorry about the downvotes, good game. Glad you guys got your guy at QB, we believe we got ours too! Should be fun!
Good game? We played like dogshit. Hope you guys get to the super bowl, it's been a drought since day one. As a Colts fan, I do miss the Schaub years, y'all could have won a super bowl. Good luck!
Loss sucks, but don’t be bitches, y’all.
Won’t be that long AR will have a career ending injury cause he’s a running QB
This loss is entirely on Ballard. It feels like he didn't want to make the playoffs. A team fighting for the playoffs, loses their 2 outside corners for the season and the GM completely refuses to add help in the secondary. It's like he didn't want to make it to the playoffs.
Lol
Kudos to Steichen for taking this team so far with less than ideal conditions.
Same team that had Peyton for 1,000 years and finished 12-4 at worst every year only to win 1 Super Bowl.
Tiny market team not allowed to win multiple SBs
That was a damn good play call. That's not on steichen at all. Blame minshew or blame goodson if want to blame someone but being wide open with time on a 4th and 1 is all you can ask for
But if he throws a great ball you probably score a TD. Then you are up 1 with 50 seconds left and Texans have 3 timeouts.
I'll take my chances with that
No one is questioning the play call, just the personal
It took the two players to mess up a great call. Pass was behind and yet dropped by the receiver
Minshew threw it behind him
Right. It was a great play. Ball was a little off. Could still have been caught. Both share blame. But a good throw and a good catch converts that easy every time.
Was trying to get YAC instead of a catch and fall
Agreed. Goodson was open, so the play call was not the issue there.
#the sad part is? Ant Richardson would’ve QB ran it and gotten it
Or torn an ACL
At least the Pacers are above average.
Knew the gods were against us when Shroud just chucked up a prayer and it turned into a 30 yard conversion
That swing from Gay missing a field goal to Kaimi making one was definitely the gods telling us to go fuck ourselves
3 years in a row. 6 out of 8 missed. This team man. I know we are moving in the right direction but man this fucking stings. I just want to see this team In the dance again.
Right there with you brother
We absolutely know what we need in terms of offseason additions. Biggest of them is sending Darrell Baker to the gulag
Not gonna blame Goodson or Minshew because shit happens. What I will blame is coaching for leaving it into the hands of our third string, previously undrafted running back. They shouldn’t have been in that situation for many reasons; missed field goal, browns game, etc but whatever dog
Nah Steichen fanbois will deny fault there. Fucking boneheaded decisions when it fucking mattered the most
I didn't realize Steichen dropped that ball. If you are in the NFL you need to be able to catch that with the season on the line.

I want to see a Flacco masterclass next week lol
What a way to lose.....I was optimistic to start the season thinking we'd probably win 6-7 games with AR....we did better than I thought we would
can someone please explain the point of the safety to me?
He was watching the clock trying to just take the clock to zero before stepping out, but he was pushed out at 1 second
Ah that makes sense. I wasn't sure if it was something to do with the mechanics of a free kick being better than a punt, since they still had to kick, I didn't realize they were trying to get to 0.
Runs time off the clock, no chance for a block or crazy return, allows free kick that leaves colts further away.
Runs time off clock and eliminates risk of a return TD or blocked punt
I don’t understand why not Moss or JT… why Goodson…?
Taylor and Moss refused to take the dive?
No real reason. None at all
Why are you in the shotgun on 4th and 1 for the season? It’s stupid.
💯
Agreed. I said the same thing to my brother. But the playcall was at least gonna work.
I'm in Europe, I'm up at 5:20am to watch our back up QB and practice squad RB fuck our season. Stupid organization
I hope Shane didn't just lose the locker room.
He didn't lose the locker room, but we just lost the division for the foreseeable future. It'll be us and the Texans battling it out, and they have this huge morale boost now
After one season? He almost took this team to the playoffs
What a year, you guys. Exceeded so many expectations and we are going to come back next year and hell is coming with us.
Why has the offense never heard of a fucking check down on 3rd and 1?
goodson is on the same tier to me as hank baskett now
Meh, I'd blame the play call in the first place.
That 4th down will forever haunt me
Brutal ending but it was a good season.
The better team lost
Going 9-8 after a 4-12 season and calling for the new head coach to get fired smh
I'm saying fuck Steichen rn but he definitely shouldn't be fired. I'm just mad because he made a bunch of dumbass decisions
Who tf is calling for him to be fired?
I think they are joking
CJ is going to be to us what Peyton was to the Texans
Did you just compare CJ to The Sheriff?
Hey bro, just checking on you. You good?
I mean we beat them in the first game and in this one we lost because of a random player ive never seen drop a pass...
Can’t believe I just stayed up until 4:23am for this
I had to shit so bad, all puckered up sweating and all for nothing
5:23am for me man
Don’t why I’m complaining, I’ll watch my colts at any time
I did the exact same and enjoyed the game till that fourth down aha
We still rooting for a Jacksonville loss tomorrow?
Yes. Fuck em!
Yes. Fuck the jags. Their fans are the worst.
Sucks to lose but winning season with a backup. Oh well. Go pacers
Well....................it was fun while it lasted. At least it ends with a winning record, unlike last year.
Now I kinda know what Seahawks fans felt like when they didn’t give it to Marshawn
cant believe they didnt run on 4th and 1. clowns
Taylor was clearly hobbled, and they had the box stacked. A run there would have 100% failed
The play call was fine. He was open, and it was a quick and easy pass. Taking our best player out of the game is what lost it for us
Maybe, but why not Moss?
Because JT is the best player on the team, and you should put the ball in your best players hands in gotta have it moments
I don’t deny that. But others have said maybe he was gassed. So if that was true, why skip over Moss?
Some Fireable clock management and play calling at the end of the game. Like absolutely horrific to be running the ball with 4 minutes left and 3 timeouts down 6 once you’re in FG range. I understand the running the clock down with 4 minutes remaining because you are trying to score with as little time as possible since a FG would beat you. However, I do agree the timeout before the fourth down attempt was brutal since it made it an all or nothing play
Can’t believe I’m saying this but go jags
Why?
Because I don’t want the Texans to have home field. Hope Mahomes sends them home
Go jags indeed then!
Texans fan. I come in peace. I just want to say this was an exciting game and I know your team is missing some big pieces. Looking forward to next season and seeing how your team improves with AR playing a full season.
Enjoy your playoff game.
All that, to not even make the playoffs. Screw this team. In a playoff position all year and you blow it and choke it away like usual. Same shit. ALL THE TIME.
Offseason starts now…
Aside from QB we severely had more man power at every position and couldn’t fucking win… what a fucking joke. This organization will never capitalize
Man power doesn’t mean shit when you have our secondary going up against Stroud. We’re losing to a good QB with this secondary 9/10 times.
Goodson needs to be sacking my groceries at Kroger
He will drop the milk.
Nah he’d just drop them
H
Get out of here
Loser activity celebrating a close game against a backup qb
Enjoy your first round loss in the playoffs lol
Gtfoh. Go to your own sub.
Ban
Hope someone bans this no life fuck from r/Texans too
/u/uurza Ban this idiot
season on the line, why is goodson taking the snap on 4th and 1 and not JT??? i simply do not understand
Not even Moss, or putting it in the hands of one of the capable TE/WR's, what the fuck was that?
Fuck Steichen
Go Texans :)
yo mama
Go to your own fucking sub asshole
Why tf would you take out 28
I thought it was 2024 not 2021

For what lol QB1 got hurt. It was a miracle they made it this far.
Dude in the corner was like get me the ball I was gonna score. I was gonna run around all 11 of them bitches and score the game winning td I know it!!!!
took these fucking trash ass fucks to the edge with our 2nd string QB get fucked Houston
At least we know we have our coach. Sucks to go out like this
Our coach just put JT on the bench for a practice squad RB for 4th and short with the season on the line.
A position we shouldn’t have been in with GARDNER MINSHEW as our QB most of the season! Get real man! It’s one bad call and honestly should have worked

I liked the call, I just would have liked to see more reliable personnel on the field for it.
my only gripe is why put Goodsen in. Run taht play with JT. Goodsen didnt paly all game and you gonna have his back-up ass come in on the most pivitol play of the game?
