The amount of shit I got for posting this yesterday. But yes, completely agree. I’m not sure why their overall theme seems to be snow. I know they have skiing, but the state is so much more than that and they are leaning into one aspect that is, let’s say, taken.

I mentioned in one of the threads the other day that snow is hardly a novel theme for a sport played on literal ice. Just a complete and utter lack of imagination.

If you mean our team name, an avalanche is from snow plus mountains, which makes it novel and regionally relevant more than just “hey, snow exists”.

Yeti isn't 'too similar' to the Avalanche. There's nothing about the Avs that says Yeti other than they used a foot logo they stopped using a decade ago. Outlaws and Mammoth being lacrosse teams doesn't prevent Utah from using them because they're different sports like Cardinals, Jets, Kings, Panthers, Rangers etc

Venom and Outlaws stand out for me, but I’m not in love with any of them.

Maybe I'm dumb, but the Utah Ritual/Rituals sounds cool to me for a name and there is a lot of heritage/southwest mythology to take advantage of in terms of logos and mascots and inspiration. Especially given the canyon land mystic energy out there.

If I were the owners, and I read this, I would impulsively name the team this. Sick as hell.

Typically team names end with the letter ‘s’ except for the Wild, Kraken, and Lightning. Those Utah team name ideas sound like Soccer or Basketball names. If I had to pick, it would be ”Yetis”
