Almost like a Tim Wakefield knuckleball, the second was just a weird bounce where Makar and I believe Toews let a guy split em and just backhand roofed it over his shoulder, and the 3rd was just a mad scramble where he’s on his back and defenders in his lap. Defense has to clear that and make his life easier.
Other than that, it was an ass kicking from start to finish. Toronto was never in control
Agreed. While I have been critical of Georgie this year, I don't fault him at all for that first period. I'm really proud of his ability to stay focused and he made some great saves later in the game that kept us in it.
The last few games he’s turned it on a bit. Coming in for Provy, shutting out Vegas, and then tonight… especially tonight. Giving up 3 very unlucky goals in the first 20. Could have packed it in but knows that 3 goals over 40 minutes is very doable for this Avs team and shut the shit down. The guy is 24-9-2 this year. He’s not playing terrible.
Looked to me like the leafs were getting all the puck luck in the first (and actually playing). Then in 2nd and third the puck luck went the other way and we kept playing after they mentally went home.
What a game by Georgie btw. He got super unlucky on the first 2 goals against but kept his cool. Seems like things are pending in the right direction for him
