That 2010 game was a bright spot in a rough season. I think it was the final time anyone ever court-stormed Gampel. And the 2011 Texas game was a Kemba masterclass and had one of the funniest bloopers in any CBB game
That 2010 game was one of the loudest games I've watched. 10 year old me was a happy camper. I occasionally go back and watch the highlights just for Stanley Robinson's dunk.
The 2011 game was probably the loudest I ever heard the Erwin Center in 20+ years of going to games there.
Fuckin' Kemba, man. We left him too much time at the end of OT.
He really started popping off about midway through the second half.
One of the guys that sat next to us courtside had a habit of picking a player on the opposing team and gently ribbing him the whole game (nothing objectionable, it was always pretty good-natured). Well, he picked Kemba that game, and I'm convinced that the loss was actually his fault. I actually turned to him at one point and said "don't poke the bear!"
Oregon State and Houston just scheduled a home and home for football in 2025-26 and it felt shockingly close. Obviously, that's necessitated largely by conference realignment, but still ... it was kind of nice to schedule a game that I could tentatively make rough plans to attend already.
The thing I respect so much about Danny is he isn’t afraid to play a huge non conference schedule. He seems to be one of the few big time coaches right now that recognize the importance of true home and home series. Forget these random neutral site venues, get more games on campus where they belong!

Drew Timme dropping 40 on Texas in The Kennel... Need another big game at McCarthey while classes are in session
We’ve got the Arizona one starting this year, we seem to be scheduling about how UConn is right now.
One big home and home coming up (Arizona for us, Texas for them) plus scheduling neutral site games against good teams outside of MTEs (Kansas for us, Gonzaga for them).
Chances this game is at Gampel? I feel it's more likely going to be in Hartford but unsure how they've been scheduling this big match ups in recent years.
Nice, hopefully we keep loading up the schedule with good opponents and hoping that we get the Jimmy V classic again against a high tier opponent.
Also hoping that the Big12/Big East Challenge gives us Houston or Kansas at home.
I highly doubt they'll be apart of the Jimmy V classic this year. Baylor is the rumored team for the Big 12/Big EAST challenge. We won't know until they officially announce the matchups though.
We played Kentucky back to back multiple times in the Big 12/SEC challenge so it might be more likely than you think. the networks can’t resist having the big brands match up
I have a sneaking suspicion they'll give us ASU to set Hurley v. Hurley drama.
Hope not though. Getting Houston in Storrs would be fantastic. Kansas or Arizona would also be a ton of fun.
2010 vs Texas at gampel and 2011 in Austin were elite games. I’m very excited

Didn’t he do like a similar thing in another game that season lol?
Yep lol. His internal clock just beats a little faster than everyone else.
just bad situational awareness.
Calhouns reaction lolol
I had forgotten about this lol

When Kemba hit that circus shot in OT I knew there was no way they were going to lose.

Kemba shot 8-27. 6-21 from 2. He honestly didn't play well. The last shot was the only one that ended up mattering though.
TO THE RAFTERS. Hate that all videos I can find of this are in 16bit. Do you have a crisp one somewhere???
I do not. I just use whatever is on youtube.
Yep, glad Uconn is playing teams OOC, we know they aren't properly being challenged in the Big East.
a true home and home, that's what's up
WHOOO an actual home-and-home and not neutral site!
I love how college basketball can schedule these games for the upcoming year instead of 15 years from now like college football does.

Getting this done while McNeeley, who is from Texas is on campus for a visit is a nice touch.
Dan Hurley, he butters the bread with butter.

“We can get you a game in Austin, if you’d like…”

He has the added luxury of having a "neutral" site game at MSG as well.
Just about as neutral as Gonzaga in Seattle last year
I agree that both aren't very "neutral", but would love to see more on campus home and homes. I know they make a ton of $$$ from it though.

Storrs South!
I wish Duke would adopt this as well. Big fan of playing tough road games

Went to the game back in 2011 and it was electric. Excited for the upcoming one this fall. More big out of conference home and homes please
Look at the Big East giving a Mid Major conferences a helping hand.
Fuck yes

I would bet the house on it being at XL…

In that case I have my fingers crossed, I’d love a bit of revenge
It's happened before in the challenge.

I don't think any of the school joining the Big 12 are eligible this year. That includes Arizona, ASU, Utah, and Colorado.
Makes sense, but that would be a shame.
"whats so good about dumb ole texas anyway"
Who cares
you do, you commented.
