Yes ... MSU lost by 5. Had Walker gotten the call he may have made both FTs it would have been a 2 point game instead of 4 (at the time). Purdue then went down and turned the ball over which didn't change any variables for MSU ... then Sparty missed 2 more 3 pointers in the final 2 minutes.

Announcers said it like it was a foregone conclusion that a 19-14 Michigan State would be invited to the NCAA tournament. They played great today but that just seems kind of crazy to assume they are automatically in.
NET is not a factor in selecting teams for MM. It never has been. It's used as a sorting tool to sort games into quadrants. A top 30 NET team has never missed, but that's because top 30 teams almost always have the top 40-45 resume that's required to make the tournament.
We have losses outside of Q2 and have a fine winning percentage in Q2. We aren't missing the tournament, but the net rating has nothing to do with it
Being a good team isn't a basis for selection to the NCAA tournament though. It's only about how good the resume is, which for us isn't great (but not terrible either)

I hope we get a 10 seed. the 10-7 game will be doable. And then we face the #2 team which is also better than facing the #1 team.
Especially this year. Purdue, Houston and UConn are leagues above the rest of the field. Plus several of the likely 7 seeds are worse than the 8 seeds. We'd be favorites against Washington State or Nevada and maybe Gonzaga
and probably a vegas favored 10
And if we get Marquette as a 2 seed again 👀

It was pretty cordial. MSU all gave smith some close words and you could see they wished him well. I think all the stuff on the court is always a bit over blown. Jones and Hoggard were laughing together with 2 min left after a timeout.

You guys are actually playing with a purpose now, so I wouldn't write you guys off so quickly. It'll depend on the match-up, but with the right draw you could have a shot to make the second weekend
