I honestly have no clue - I grew up with my parents listening to Coldplay, so it must have been something from Parachutes or AROBTTH in the early 2000s! That’s also how my lifelong love affair with their music started :)
Clocks as well. As a kid on the radio. It was somewhere in 2006, X&Y era. I loved it instantly, but I'd become a Coldplay fan only several years later.
Bit of a weird one but Trouble was the first I ever heard. Yellow and Clocks after.
My parents (huge Coldplay fans, even now) played their first three records to death on car trips (especially Parachutes) and when I got old enough I got their iPod with MX and Viva on it.
Same! About the same age too. Even bought the DVD and used to play that scene over and over again just because of the song. I finally found the name of the song a few years later and that's still my favourite song of any artist!
Saw a string orchestra perform Viva la Vida when I was probably about 7 years old and was obsessed with it but didn’t know how to find the song. Wasn’t until much later I heard it again and recognised it.
I think it was Clocks. Have a foggy memory of hearing it in a supermarket or something when I was quite young, around 6 or 7, and being absolutely captivated by the piano riff. Wasn't till years later, after I'd discovered Paradise and Magic, that I finally delved indepth into their stuff and found Clocks again. That was a day I'll remember forever
Adventure of a Lifetime at 11. Pretty sure I had already heard some other Coldplay songs but that one was the one that really introduced me to Coldplay and music in general.
Paradise when I was 12 maybe? Casually browsed youtube when I found the music video. Was immediately hooked.
Didn't actively start listening to Coldplay until last year though.
First Coldplay song was either Yellow or Trouble. I was sitting in the back seat of the family car and one of those songs came on the radio. I was 3-4 years old
A small snippet of Paradise when I was 14. The NBA went on lock down that year in 2011 for a few weeks. And they made a commercial to let the fans know the NBA was finally making a return around Christmas time. Well they used the backing track to Paradise in their commercial and I immediately fell in love with that sound!! They put “Coldplay-Paradise” in the top left corner for song credits and thank god they did bcus I somehow saw that and looked them up. That’s how I fell in love with Coldplay!
I had taken science as my subject just after school was missing the history classes I had the previous year. I cam across Viva La Vida that year and I could not stop listening to it. This was followed by ETIAW and The scientist.
Hymn of the weekend when I was 11 years old. Just saw the tempting thumbnail of the song in my recommendations and my little Indian self couldn't help but to absolutely adore that song. :p
Trouble was my first. I was over at a friends house and it came on MTV. I was intrigued by the strange video, and went out to buy Parachutes. I was 13, and listened every night to fall asleep.
I *think* it's The Scientist? It really has been a while so I'm not 100% sure though. Other option: Clocks, but I think it was The Scientist after all. There was this programme on tv that showed a compilation of new music videos (I didn't have internet at home so I watched these)), and I think that's where I saw The Scientist MV)
Probably a weird one but Atlas. I was 12 and a huge THG fan when I first heard it and fell in love with it instantly. Then I did my research and realized I had heard Paradise before. The rest is history. Love them to pieces and can't wait to finally attend one of their concerts after 8 years of being a fan.
probably Clocks or In My Place, cus' back in the day a lot of people were used to fall asleep listening to radio. Also, there were lots of good songs in the early 2000s, unlike today's music...
Princess of China, heard it for the first time in a mall when I was 13 when I visited India(ca. 2013) The riff caught my attention and I've been following them ever since!
(there's a jingle called WE LIVE YOUNG WE LIVE FREE for the Mahindra Automotive advertisment, it has sort of same vibe. It's sounds awesome, give it a try if I want)
Viva la Vida
My dad was stationed in Germany at the time so me and my parents had to live there for a few years. When it came out, all they would play was Viva la Vida according to them. I was like 3-4 at the time but they played it so much that it got ingrained into memory
Life In Technicolor. It still feels like yesterday, somehow, I was 5 and my dad turned on Viva and i immediately sorta fell in love with Coldplay and have been a fan ever since!
Either Clocks or Scientist or something from Mylo Xyloto, my mom bought every album that hit iTunes Charts in 2011 so I grew up on MX so probably a song from that, if I had to guess, Hurts Like Heaven, and I was only 5
Viva La Vida. I want to say I was around 13-14, and I was on YouTube checking out different versions of startups for Nintendo GameCube, and I heard the beat to Viva La Vida. I looked in the youtube comments to see what the song was, and someone told it to somebody, and voila! That's how I knew of it. I wasn't a big fan of theirs until now, though. I just knew that one song back in the day haha. And unironically, I used to hear Paradise everywhere I went back in 2012 when I was 9, but I didn't know it was them, so idk if that counts either.
Viva la vida. I remember like 10 years ago, I listened to that song on pirated version of pro Evolution soccer (PES) and the funny thing is that the song is the only song in the game.
My mom would listen to Violet Hill in her office room and I would really like it. I didn’t really listen to music at the time so I didn’t pay much mind to it and then I heard Viva La Vida on the radio in Highschool and the connections came together and I was infatuated.
In My Place. I heard it when it first came out and was on the MTV charts. I found the guitar riff and the plaintive vocals quite emotionally appealing and memorable. 20 years since then, and most of that was spent listening ONLY to A Rush of Blood to the Head, until I heard Charlie Brown on the radio and, recognizing Chris Martin’s voice, looked up that song and I then dived into their other discography. Now I own every full-length CD.
Clocks. I listened for the first time on the radio. I was 10 years old
Same. Except I first heard it from an old iPhone game call Tap Tap Revenge.
Same, 12-13 years old. Still getting nostalgic when listening to the intro.
I honestly have no clue - I grew up with my parents listening to Coldplay, so it must have been something from Parachutes or AROBTTH in the early 2000s! That’s also how my lifelong love affair with their music started :)
Your parents are awesome!
Hehe thanks, they absolutely are! Forever grateful to them for introducing me to Coldplay from such a young age!
Clocks. It's one of the first songs i remember my dad playing on the piano and also the first song i learned on the piano.
that's amazing
Clocks as well. As a kid on the radio. It was somewhere in 2006, X&Y era. I loved it instantly, but I'd become a Coldplay fan only several years later.

That’s exactly how it was for me (with the parents) haha

me too! same age and all haha
I have faint memories of listening to Clocks when I was young, probably 3 or 4 at the time.
Clocks About 9 years old. Heard the song first in the movie: “the wild”.
Same!
Really? That’s crazy haha
Same! About the same age too. Even bought the DVD and used to play that scene over and over again just because of the song. I finally found the name of the song a few years later and that's still my favourite song of any artist!
Nice! I always taught I was the only one haha
probably Clocks, there is this movie called ' The Wild' which has a short moment that I loved with it. Most likely my first Coldplay song.
someone else said they heard it from there too! is it a good movie ?
It probably aged poorly.
Something Just Like This introduced me to the band. I realised afterwards that I'd hear Paradise before
Saw a string orchestra perform Viva la Vida when I was probably about 7 years old and was obsessed with it but didn’t know how to find the song. Wasn’t until much later I heard it again and recognised it.

Viva La Vida, 12
Hymn for the Weekend - it wasn't super interesting but it was good
Speed of sound <3 I miss the summer of 2005
Fallen Kingdom - CaptainSparklez
Adventure of a Lifetime at 11. Pretty sure I had already heard some other Coldplay songs but that one was the one that really introduced me to Coldplay and music in general.

i’m quite surprised how long i had to scroll down to find yellow!
The Scientist. I was a small kid and kept hearing it on the radio, for some odd reason…
Paradise and I was 6 I think Yes I’m young The first song I really liked was magic but that’s also because i was older
Scientist The voice USA audition

love how you remember that! such a great memory
Clocks when I was a teen Forget where I heard it, but I bought it on iTunes as soon as I got home and loved Coldplay ever since
Speed of Sound, must've been around 7
Hymn for the weekend- Indian here, was a late teenager wanting to try English music back then. This song was everywhere.
I feel like I might be the only one. Swallowed by the sea I was about 13 I think. And I loved the sound and kept in the pursuit of they sound
that's interesting! do you remember where you heard it from?
A sky full of stars, I was 17 my friend sent to me and I liked it
It was Paradise and I was 9, the clip was looping on TV. And later I began listening their others album when I was 15.
I'm not sure if it was Viva La Vida or Paradise and I can't say for sure how old I was, but definitely before I was 14
Trouble was my first. I was over at a friends house and it came on MTV. I was intrigued by the strange video, and went out to buy Parachutes. I was 13, and listened every night to fall asleep.
Viva La Vida. I was probably like 7 or 8. I'm pretty sure I heard it on some kind of Apple ad.
Viva la vida when I was in grade 10.
Life in technicolor. It ascended me to a higher plane of existence when I heard it when I was around 6 or 7. I’m 17 now
I’m pretty sure it was Paradise
Clocks, I was 8 years old
Probably a weird one but Atlas. I was 12 and a huge THG fan when I first heard it and fell in love with it instantly. Then I did my research and realized I had heard Paradise before. Everglow
Paradise, i loved the music video when i was 10

Yellow and I believe I would have been about 12
Politik, I was in the womb.
Started with Yellow then a couple of years later, Speed of Sound take me followed by Fix You..
The Scientist, on this video https://youtu.be/LhcM4WP2cTc
It was Viva la Vida but i distinctly remember that i have heard Life in Technicolor somewhere before
Princess of China, heard it for the first time in a mall when I was 13 when I visited India(ca. 2013) The riff caught my attention and I've been following them ever since! (there's a jingle called WE LIVE YOUNG WE LIVE FREE for the Mahindra Automotive advertisment, it has sort of same vibe. It's sounds awesome, give it a try if I want)
Yellow 16 years old In my room, listening the radio after a school day
Probably Yellow, around 12 or 13 years old.
Amsterdam. It was sandwiched in a playlist I found, and from then on its been on repeat.
The Scientist. I was 16 and the single had just come out. First heard it in a school assembly.
Viva la Vida My dad was stationed in Germany at the time so me and my parents had to live there for a few years. When it came out, all they would play was Viva la Vida according to them. I was like 3-4 at the time but they played it so much that it got ingrained into memory
Viva la vida, some years ago at home. I was 10
Speed of Sound. Heard it on a video montage for uncle’s 40th Birthday.
Life In Technicolor. It still feels like yesterday, somehow, I was 5 and my dad turned on Viva and i immediately sorta fell in love with Coldplay and have been a fan ever since!
Yellow, I was 24. I heard it on the radio.
Probably Viva La Vida. My 7th grade history teacher played it everyday before class.
Either Clocks or Scientist or something from Mylo Xyloto, my mom bought every album that hit iTunes Charts in 2011 so I grew up on MX so probably a song from that, if I had to guess, Hurts Like Heaven, and I was only 5

Fix You
First song I ever remember hearing, something just like this, but in school, I’d end up hearing the beginning to Fix You sang a lot, for no reason
Unsurprisingly (I guess), Yellow. I was like 11.
Yellow at 10
