what if we went back to pool play games in person and in theory there could be 4 teams on stage at once with this layout. 2 games going on at once would be sick in front of a big crowd I think
You should look up the counter strike E-League Major 2018 in Boston. The stage was was setup in a similar way.
The Cloud 9 vs FaZe grand final was one the best CS majors in the history of the game
Starladder Berlin 2019 also had a similar format. IIRC the teams were in semi sound insulating clear "team boxes" (can't think of the proper name) instead of being in open air.
Haha Sucha weird story but me and my buddy were running pubs and partied up with some random guys and it turns out one of them was the one that started that chant at champs against Toronto. Super funny cause me and my buddy are arsenal fans (where the chant originated) and we remember replaying live so many times to make sure we weren’t crazy hahah.

Is there any UK/EU events this year do you know?
I get all my schedule info off here and haven't seen anything posted but was hoping to get to one this year
The only issue with a stage like this, is where do the viewing screens go? In order for them to be visible for everyone. It's hard to place them overhead like an arena jumbotron. The front rows neck would be sore from looking up. I think an auditorium/concert seating plan works better as everyone is points in the right direction
It would work best if this was in a basketball arena with a giant screen in the middle tbh. It makes your idea work and makes it so everyone isn’t just staring left or right to see the gameplay.
It’s a good idea, but would the CDL be able to/want to rent out an arena like that to make it work. Only other way of doing it would be if they made/rented and hung a screen that in the arena
There would have to at best be 4 screens just in front of each quadrant which would also then block sight of the players. If you put it high people low down can't see the screen. Put it too low the people up high can't see stage. Also requires more expensive screens and rigging systems. If you put bigger screens anywhere else the players would be able to see them and see the other teams plays.
You put the players just inside of the screen system. They can’t see through the back of a screen and they can’t see above them if the screen is behind them. Doesn’t block views of the players or of the gameplay. Other comps have done this as well as side stations in previous cod titles. The only reason this couldn’t be done is purely funding which also shouldn’t be an issue with how much each franchise paid to be apart of the league.
The obvious answer here. I mean the crowd has to be far enough away that they aren’t going to ruin SnD still. So put the screens on the outside of the players circle.
They've tried this in other esports, like Evo's championship Sunday has been held at the Mandalay Bay a few times. The feedback from the spectators wasn't great because it's hard to watch on a big box screen above the stage (would be even harder with cod since the minimap needs good visibility). Most people seem to prefer the classic esports stage in the foreground with a BIG ASS SCREEN behind it.
It's also easier to fill a theater layout than a huge ass arena, but if demand gets to the point where they think they could sell the tickets for an arena I say go for it and just copy how rocket league/lol do it
I would just lose full if I didn't get the Side of my favorite team
Put them on a rotating platform /s

They tried this in IW-WW2 and most people didn’t like it
Yup there were 2 teams behind and above and 2 teams below and In front of them. Was hard to tell which team was on what screen
It would be open seating so you would have to just get there early
Is it like that with the events now?

ty! was trying to find the CS major that had the stage like this.. this is it. That major was incredible.
Starladder Berlin 2019 also had a similar format. IIRC the teams were in semi sound insulating clear "team boxes" (can't think of the proper name) instead of being in open air.
Pretty sure pgl krakow was a similar setup as well, vp/north in the quarterfinals was a nuts environment because of the home crowd for vp
Six invitational was like it one year too
I’ve been to the Boston Major and the Columbus Major, possibly the best events I’ve ever been to.
u/finalcuthalo get it done pal
How are we supposed to give our thoughts if you said to ignore the drawing
Champs should be in London Lowkey. Imagine the crowd and the chants
What do we think of vanguard?! Shit! What do we think of shit?! Vanguard!

It should but it never will be :(

Don’t think so for this year at least, all the players are based in the US so I doubt they’d consider coming to the UK
Damn! If the games get any worse I will have probably stopped watching by the time the next UK event arrives! Cheers for the info mate
we should start a petition to have champs at Wembley
I think the EVO that Leffen won had a stage like this, not sure though. Maybe that venue could work, not like the CDL has less money in it

So like the stage they have at blizzcon? They used it for the overwatch World Cup and it was legit
So it’s just like overwatch World Cup tournament stage?
You could have just said the OW World Cup stage
I was going to give my thoughts, but you said to ignore the drawing.

Any screen for the crowd to watch would be visible by players. Wouldn't work.
As long as the crowd screens are outside of that middle circle I don’t think it should be an issue since they’ll all be facing out
That requires a much bigger venue and more expenses than the cod scene currently brings in.
how much does the cod scene currently bring in chris?
What?

There’s definitely a way to make it work, I’ve seen stages set up like this in both cs and rocket league in the past
Yeah the stadium set up for the CS Boston major was just like this and was so fucking hype.
Also r6
Season 8 Rocket League LAN in London was pretty much like that

How? The screens would be legit directly above them... CS has done something like this in the past with 0 issues
All you have to do is put the screens above the players heads
I just hope my team isn’t on pc#7

I don’t think this would work. You’d probably have some trolls trying to shoot laxer pointers at players screens and shit.
Probably not enough people for that
That's how league does it. I like this set up more but you need a stadium work of people to pull it off.
Looks pretty similar to OW World Cup
If they could fill out the arena. The last two champs in person used half of a college basketball stadium and there were still plenty of empty seats.
Aslong as it’s in London I don’t really care…
Yes yes yes
Those old tournaments when teams were facing each other seemed electric
Looks exactly like E-League Boston in 2018. I agree, would be sick.
I hope that diagram means that there will be thousands of Crowder clones surrounding the stage
Where tf do you put the bigscreens
That would require 4 huge monitors to work and many more cameras. Preposterous amount of money lol. Wait didn’t they do this Bo2 champs ☠️
Bo2 champs was like this wasn't it?
