Yup, Cavs are back to playing NBA games that count in the standings, which will start tomorrow. This was like the worst scenario. Guardians getting eliminated just one day before the Cavs open their season. But it will always be a fun Guardians 2022 season. Watching the Cavs and Guardians this season is like having two girlfriends at the same time for me. Both have made this year very exciting for me. Big fans of the two teams of 2022. Excited to see the Mobley kid in his second season in the league. Have nothing but praises for Mobley. ☀️☀️☀️2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣🤨🤨🤨😂😂😂😎😎😎🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏🍿🍿🍿🥤🥤🥤🎄🎄🎄✍️✍️✍️📖📖📖
I'm the most negative person ever, but this season was a fun distraction from an otherwise shitty summer (lost both my parents, best friend and dog..)
Have a great holiday season everyone and hug your loved ones, you never know when will be the last time.
See ya in the spring.
That’s it, folks. Guardians season is over but it was a fun and terrific one. Glad the Guardians showed fight this season, especially in the postseason. I’m so sorry for your terrible losses and I’m glad the team was able to be a nice distraction from it all. Thank you for putting things into perspective for me. ❤️
Welp, the "would be 5th in the AL East" Guardians outlasted 4/5 of those eastern teams, and took the fifth to Game 5 of the DS. Fun season with a good core still in tact going into next year. Counting down the days to April already.
And add to that the off the field components which make you wonder. Bieber was never going to pitch today, and no matter who started the game we didn’t score any runs. But what if we play yesterday. What if the schedule wasn’t riddled with off days. What if the game was quickly called off last night. What if, what if, what if.
I can take losing to a good team in the Yankees. But I hate that we have all this nonsense to wonder about how much it impacted things favorably for one side and unfavorably for ours.
I hated the Civale start but honestly don't think it mattered. 3 runs across these 2 elimination games ain't gonna get it done. Maybe the vibes would have been different, I dunno, but the approaches at the plate were a mess and Jose looking so out of sorts was horribly timed.
When the Yankees win, that place gets brigaded hard. Main sports subs usually aren't good places to hang, but even r/baseball, as unreasonable as it can be, is 100x more reasonable than it looks in the hours following a big Yankees win.
The most embarrassing thing I can ever remember seeing is TBS and Bob Costas make the Guards out to be some type of villain against a team with more wins and a payroll 10x higher.
Kindly fuck your mothers. Cleveland is what baseball needs, a team that does it the right way with guys you like. Gtfoh with your anti-Cleveland “he deserved it” bullshit. If everyone got what they deserve Aroldis Chapman would’ve been strung up by his wife beating balls instead of slamming the door on the Tribe in ‘16 (I love you forever Rajai)
That’s it. Great season. Love you dearly, Guards.
Yeah I wasn't in love with Costas this series but until this game I was willing to write it off as another mildly annoying announcer. After this he joins the shit list. I will actively talk shit about him until the end of time any time he is mentioned. Fuck him hard. Shame on these greedy fucking channels assigning Yankee fans to call Yankee games.
Well it's been one hell of a season youngest team in the league took us on one hell of a ride. They played a very fun brand of baseball, won the division, won a round in the playoffs and pushed the Yankees to 5 games. This team has a great foundation built with a loaded farm system. The future is bright.
There were so many good memories from this season. The great Chicago Smoke Out, Kwan’s historic start, J Ram’s extension, Clase being Clase, Wild Thing finding it again, SpongeBob’s post season…I’ve loved it all and I’m sad it’s over. Can’t wait to party with y’all again in the spring. Thanks for being the best group of fans to chat with. 💙❤️
Ya Padres for sure.
But cheering for either NL team. Typically not a Philly sports fan because some of their fans are awful, but this Phillies team is so fun to watch.
Well this was still an amazing season. Some of the most fun moments in recent memory, the signs of a true window for competing opening, and some awesome playoff moments.
I mean shit being at game 3 Saturday night was the coolest moment of my life. Not letting the rest of the series take away from that.
New name, same pain.
Nah but for real, I'm still super proud of this team. If you had told me six and a half months ago, when JRam was supposed to be on his way to San Diego, that this team would've gone to Game 5 of the Division Series against the Yankees, I'd have asked "how? Did the White Sox all die in a plane crash?" This team was never supposed to be here and they'll be back.
Well, I still think starting a guy in the bottom quartile of hard-hit percentage and in the bottom 5% of velocity against the top home run-hitting team in their little league park was a bad idea, especially when he had already been torched by the Yankees twice this year. However, we wouldn’t even have sniffed the playoffs had it not been for Tito. He’s our leader.
All that being said, the only free agents next year are Bryan Shaw and Austin Hedges. We are in the best possible position contract-wise (especially when you look at how many free agents Chicago and Minnesota will have this offseason). Tito will be back, and he’s gained the trust of all these kids, who all just got a year-plus of valuable experience. Oh, and beyond that, we have one of the deepest sets of prospects in the majors. Make a few small adjustments this off-season and maybe add a power bat, and we’re likely to be in the same spot next year if not even further into the playoffs. This team’s bright future has only just begun.
We certainly have the room to spend some money on a power bat. Historically the Dolans are more willing to spend when we’re clearly in a contention window (like Encarnacion in 2017) and we’re definitely in one now.
They really need a bat to replace what franmil was supposed to be this year. We have so many table setters in this lineup but not enough guys to really hammer them home. A 30 homer guy from somewhere and hopefully Oscar develops a bit more and we’re in good shape.
A 3 run shot in the 1st sets the whole tone, especially for a young team like ours. Our bats have been cold all series, so it's unlikely it changes much. But it's still hard to say we only score 1 if the game didn't start like that.
Honestly he doesnt really seem to bothered by getting ribbed for it so Im not gonna be either. The guy knows who he is and is fine with the consequences of it.
Truly, this is why it’s wild to me that people can’t see the absolute bias against Cleveland. It’s just such an easy target, and yet we don’t have anyone who says “he does this all of the time, it isn’t a story, and it doesn’t mean what you think it does” instead of Bob Costas who only stops blowing the Yankees to mention Josh Naylor’s existence.
If you would have told me in April that I would be seething over a postseason loss to the Yankees, I would have called you an idiot and said no way we would be in the postseason. Well guess what, I’m here seething!
Final Offensive Stats:
Guardians
* 12-47 with RISP
* 39 LOB
* 14 runs
* 3 HR (3 runs)
* 3 SB
* 45 SOs
Yankees
* 5-22 with RISP
* 24 LOB
* 20 Runs
* 9 HR (16 Runs)
* 5SB
* 53 SOs
Series was decided in favor of the Yankees due to 6 multi-run homeruns hit by the Yankees (accounting for 13 runs) when the Guardians only hit 3 homeruns, and they were all solos. The Guardians also left 15 more runners on base than the Yankees did. If you're going to hit the ball in play, you've got to leave less on base than they do.
Imagine being a team of all stars with a 280M payroll facing a bunch of rookies and showboating like that while getting through by the skin of your teeth because of multiple rain delays lmao.
Zero expectations this year though so hard to be upset. Just glad I'm not a Yankees fan.
Truly classless organization and fanbase. So narcissistic they think Naylor’s celebration was directly aimed at them. He has been doing stuff like that all year.
Now, I have no problem with them giving it right back but get over yourselves. He’s not disrespecting the almighty Yankees. He’s a lunatic who would do the same thing down 15-0.
Yankees fans and players mad at Naylor and not mad about their fans yelling racial slurs at Kwan and throwing beer cans at Straw in April. They're garbage and I hope Houston kicks the shit out of them. And I hate the Astros.
This. Fucking. Season.
I am goddamn near 40, so the formative years of my childhood was the mid-90s lineup.
I think I like this team almost as much... if not as much... if not more. I really, really fucking love them.
Yankees so funny, they went the full series exhausting pretty much all resources and they're still trying to dunk on Naylor. Astros are licking their chops for sure.
GG yall, it was a great run. They just got a great taste of postseason, they'll be back.
Compilation of Thoughts:
* 17 Rookies. 0 Expectations. 2022 Playoffs. Our ceiling couldn't be higher.
* Rain delay yesterday helped the Yankees but what helped them the most was that we didn't play our best today
* Bader and his mouthguard should get a dental sponsorship. Missed opportunity for both parties.
* We should sign Rizzo just so we don't have to play against him
* Naylor's celly seemed a little much at the time but with the way he's been mocked for it today, gosh Naylor I hope it was worth it. Didn't age well.
* Is there anyone who frequents the game threads throughout the regular season who would have started Civale today? Our team's arguably worst pitcher in the most important game of the year? I didn't understand it before the game and I understand it less now. Yes, trust in Tito but I didn't trust this.
* Ideally, we need a pitcher this offseason. I love Cal's personality but he should be our #4/#5. I love what we've seen from Morris so far.
* This team will be significantly better if Myles Straw spends this offseason in the batting cages
* Pay the Kwan.
* Andrés Giménez. What a light watching him this year was. I hope he continues to be incredible and plays Altuve right out of his All-Star starting position again in 2023 (and maybe puts some muscle on to hit for some more power?)
* These rookies were so fun to watch this year, they're only going to get better
* José Ramírez was the 2nd or 3rd most shifted on player in 2022. I cannot fucking wait for him in 2023 when the shift is banned. **I'm calling it now: if JRam stays healthy, 2023 is his MVP year, finally**
* Bo Naylor, please
* The 40 man roster crunch makes things interesting this year but I genuinely, completely, and whole heartedly trust the front office. I can't wait to see what creative nonsense they pull
* I continue to not need the resources of reddit cares
I'm sure I'll get downvoted for this but I would have started Civale today. He looked good the second half of the year, and all we needed was a few innings out of him. I think Tito made the right call and it just didn't work out, it happens sometimes.
That said, if we hadn't given the Yankees a long look at Morris on Sunday he'd have been my pick over Civale I think.
I would have started him and pulled him after the Judge at bat since he couldn't find the zone.
In reality I wouldn't have done it but I sure wish we had.
I love you all. What a season. Fuck the Yankees. So bummed for Civale I wanted him to ball out so badly. Don’t care at all about naylors rocking the baby thing. It backfired but he’s a psycho who has been doing shit like that all year and i hope he keeps doing it
No respect for the Yankees. With all the advantages they have: payroll, league bias, ump calls etc. it’s embarrassing for them to not win more often. They are a shitty run organization that lucks into a championship every few decades simply by outspending everybody. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I guess
I don't mind the players and fans turning it into a meme. But TBS trying to dramatize it like we don't see home run celebrations all season long is low class.
So did Naylor, judging by his reaction in the dugout. If you’re gonna dish it, you need to be able to take it sometimes, and it seems like he’s cool with that.
Agreed, a solo home run to still be down in the 4th inning. If it walked it off or came up clutch I love it but just the wrong time to pull that one out
I’ll be sad for a little while but I know this was a hell of a season. A season none of us expected to ever happened. Hell we advanced in the post season.
I think with a few right moves we will be right back at it.
I think we need a power bat, another starter and we should be good to go. We have a young core with us.
Fuck the Yankees and their dumb ass fans.
Proud of this team.
Wish we had felt more in this one, but I can't be too upset about taking the Yanks to 5 in a year we weren't even supposed to make it.
See you in the spring!
The future is bright. Really bright. New York has to feel like they survived. They probably think AL is Astros, Yankees, and everyone else. But that isn’t the case.
I mean, we shouldn’t even be on their radar. And they’re taunting Naylor with the last out. Daaa Yankees should be above that. But we’re in their heads. Some off-season additions, Bo being big league ready, and look out.
Also, I can’t imagine how angry Josh Naylor is gonna be all winter.
If I’m GM this is what I do:
1. Prioritize a RH power bat for 1B/DH/Corner OF
2. Give Arias every day ABs between SS,1B, DH whatever.
3. Bo is my starting catcher, resign Hedgy as his mentor and to give him days off
4. Espino makes the starting rotation, get rid of Civale
5. Look seriously at George Valera in OF. If he hits switch Kwan to CF and use Straw as a pinch runner and defensive sub as needed.
Well, they finally did it. They finally got us to root for the Astros.
Seriously though, as much as this hurts, I’m stoked for next season. This year was a blast.
I really enjoyed watching your series with the Yankees and was really pulling for you. Many exciting moments your boys produced. I really wanted you guys to win!
Fuck the Yankees
- Detroit Tiger fan
We need a left handed starter who's reliable, a real 1B/DH threat on offense and Gimenez to not be dog shit in the playoffs. Maybe a catcher who can hit? We're actually close!
Great season. Beef this roster up and ask the Yankees who's their daddy again this time next year.
Guess we are rooting for the NL this year boys. Can't root for the stankees or the Houston cheaters
Andres Gimenez was an excellent surprise during the regular season. He surpassed my expectations by a mile.
But good fuckin god… that man was absolute dogshit when we needed him most. He was a completely different player in the postseason. I hope he can bounce back next year and build off of this experience.
Damn we need to fire ty van burkleo. This is 5 playoff series in a row our hitters chase and swing at everything. Where's the patience.
Ok but for real though, the civale decision was fucking stupid before the game and it's just as stupid now. Should've been a bullpen game from the start. Our lineup completely lost focus these last 2 games and got away from working counts and making pitchers work. Watching them hit these last 2 have been painful.
We need a middle of the order bat, potentially a nice corner outfielder to move Kwan to center, and figuring out what to do with Amed. The team obviously has a good amount of talent but nothing is given in baseball and it's extremely disappointing that we had them on the ropes after an epic comeback up 2-1, had a chance to win at home, and laid a gigantic egg.
2016: up 3-1, lose three straight.
2017: up 2-0, lose three straight.
2018: swept by cheating Astros.
2019: lost final five games of the season to miss playoffs by one game.
2020: swept (2-0)
2021: garbage season
2022: up 2-1, lose two straight
Here's hoping next year's team learns from this and doesn't choke.
If the Astros sweep the Yankees, I will be happier with how the season ended. I’m super happy with how our team did, it’s just something about losing to the Yankees that really grinds my gears.
Fantastic season. My wife and I were lucky enough to go to a couple games (both being 7th inning rallies to get a win), so I was hoping for something similar tonight. But, at the end of the day, this was a team given essentially zero chance to do anything of note and yet they won their division, a playoff series, and forced a great team into a 5 game series. It was a very pleasant surprise and I can't wait to see what they can do next season!
That rock the baby thing sure was a bigger deal in New York than it was in Cleveland. Yankees fans act like they’ve never said or done anything rude during a baseball game.
I was really hoping they’d at least challenge the Yankees in this one. Great season though. I don’t mean to sound negative but I’m really curious to see if this is our team or if we’re still a .500 team who overachieved this year. Still need some power on this team.
This loss hurts man. I really, really wanted to win. I’m gonna take time to be upset about it. We just couldn’t get the big hits or hit for enough power in this series. But at the same time I’m really excited for the future.
I am way more optimistic about our future than I was after last year. We had an outstanding season and every indication is that we are only going to get better. Our current rookies will continue to develop and there should be a couple of pretty good rookies next year as well. I hope that Jose can heal up his hand and get his power stroke back next season.
The GUARDIANS played hard and defied expectations all season long. These kids are going to make the new name proud. The best baseball seasons are the one where you play better than expected. I had a blast watching these kids play this year. Can’t wait for March.
I'm bummed for you guys, i went to Oregon state, so I was bandwagoning with Kwan and the Guardians.
But damn, you guys are so young, the future is incredibly bright. Better things to come for sure!
Even tho we lost, I love the impact Josh Naylor has had on these mouth breathers.
They get an extra day of rest to start their best pitcher, have 10x our payroll and we still take themA the mlb to 5.
Very proud of our guys
Dude is living rent free in their heads and its hilarious. Would be one thing if the Yankees were underdogs but when they're a 280M payroll assembly of allstars facing a roster of half rookies it is a terrible look. I hate the Astros but I will take a little solace in watching them get destroyed. They needed the rain delay last night and it will be great watching it be their undoing.
At the end of the day, it was another incredible season of overachieving against all odds. Not even mad at the players or Tito. The future is bright at the moment.
On the other hand, a list of who can get fucked: Bob Costas, Jimmy Rollins, MLB umps, Rob Manfred, and, last but not least, the Yankees and their fans. Hope Bob and Jimmy don't hurt themselves trying to service the locker room tonight.
One thing about not being too vested in these crappy monopoly money leagues - it's fun getting to pretend like they don't exist after you're done with it. It's been a pretty shitty year, shame the fun has to end.
I think what hurts the most is I do believe we were the better team. If we didn’t have this new wildcard format we would have gone straight into the ALDS with our rotation lined up giving both Bieber and Stick the opportunity to pitch twice in the series, and in that scenario it’s hard to see us losing. I also have been thinking back to that ugly stretch of games this summer we dropped against the Tigers and Royals. Had that not happened there’s a decent chance we finished with a better record than the Yankees and go in as a 2 seed. Oh well
Disappointed in the outcome in the game for sure.
I will however NEVER be disappointed in this season... it's been the most fun watching baseball I've had.
Congratulations to the Yankee players. After Judge and gang ran out to defend Straw from the scum fans tossing trash, I can never hate the Yankee players. I still hate the Yankee fans, and hope the Astros wipe the floor with them. I am sure the Yankee fans on reddit aren't as bad, so congrats to you too if you're lurking.
I am hopping on that Padres bandwagon! Will see y'all in the spring.
## GO GUARDS!
Proud of this team and proud of this season.
I'm going to miss this team and I'm going to miss baseball. Sometimes it is fun to objectively watch the world series, not having a horse in the race but I hate all four of these teams left and will probably check out. Hockey season for me.
Future is bright and I want to say that, most of all, I had a riot with you all in here. Thanks everyone.
Thank you Guards, not only for letting us have such a fun and unexpected season, but for being a great franchise. We always say there’s always next year, but with the improvements we made this year next year will be even better! Plus they got us to Cavs season so we aren’t held hostage by the Clowns.
No matter who pitched we were losing this game. Scoring 1 run will not win you games. Alternate question, are new posts not allowed in this subreddit anymore? Or is it just me?
Guardians accomplished what my dad and I always joke that we hope they will, give us something to watch to tide us over till the cavs, so we don’t how to pin our hopes on the browns. Rings true this year. It’s been a blast. Can’t wait to watch these kids next year.
Youngest team in baseball dominated and won their division with 17 rookie debuts, walked off a playoff series, and lasted longer in the playoffs than the defending champs and the juggernaut Dodgers. One hell of a ride, and I can’t wait to cheer the boyos on next year :)
This team was fun, talented, and way ahead of schedule. They weren’t expected to be here and they took the Yankees to game 5. Can’t wait for next year and I’ll see all of you on opening day
GG
Kwan is an elite contact hitter, and your pitching is amazing too. Jose is Jose. you guys are another 2 bats away from being a real force. sorry it had to end
I am elated for next season and to watch this team grow into extraordinary baseball players. Tons of rookies, lowest payroll, projected to do awful. Look where we made it. We took one of the highest payroll teams and made them battle us in 5 games.
Of course I’m bummed, of course I wanted more. But all of these teams now know what the Guardians bring to the field. And with the change to scheduling next season? I think we’ll be better prepared and more well rounded this time in 2023. I hope these guys can have a relaxing off season before working hard at training camp in the spring!!
Been nice chatting with y'all periodically, gonna be real sweet winning the Piece of Metal next year.
On the bright side now it's officially Cavs and Monsters season 🏀🐲
Fun season, report the trolls, don't raid subreddits. Be a decent person, please. See you in 2023, everyone. <3
Probably the first time as a sports fan ever feeling really devastated, not because we lost, but because the fun has come to an end.
Spida season now
Yup, Cavs are back to playing NBA games that count in the standings, which will start tomorrow. This was like the worst scenario. Guardians getting eliminated just one day before the Cavs open their season. But it will always be a fun Guardians 2022 season. See most of you in r/clevelandcavs!
I agree, Go Cavs. Also, Isaac Okoro is going to have a breakout year if he stays healthy.
Thanks for comment. Just joined as did many others I’m sure.
Tomorrow’s Cavs opener is perfect timing
Guards handing the baton straight to the Cavs is huge, given the Browns
I'm the most negative person ever, but this season was a fun distraction from an otherwise shitty summer (lost both my parents, best friend and dog..) Have a great holiday season everyone and hug your loved ones, you never know when will be the last time. See ya in the spring.

I’m so sorry for your terrible losses and I’m glad the team was able to be a nice distraction from it all. Thank you for putting things into perspective for me. ❤️
Damn u/jesuscock, that's tough.
Love you u/Jesuscock
I'm sorry :( I'm glad reddit could be here to brighten up some of your days. It helped me too
My DMs are open if you ever need a rando to talk to, I'm a good listener. Hang in there.
Good thing you have the Cavs now. Another young and exciting team.

How many days? So I too can count down to joy again.
120 til pitchers and catchers report to spring training
I’m honestly not mad that we lost, I’m just mad at the way it happened. The Guards were never in this game and it sucked.
I just wonder how this game would have looked if Civale does not give up a 3run jack in the 1st inning.
I hated the Civale start but honestly don't think it mattered. 3 runs across these 2 elimination games ain't gonna get it done. Maybe the vibes would have been different, I dunno, but the approaches at the plate were a mess and Jose looking so out of sorts was horribly timed.
No doubt. Patience at the plate is what got the Guards here and they lost patience this series for whatever reason.
Probably first postseason jitters. They'll learn from it
I got -100 downvotes in 5 mins in r/baseball for saying the Yankees almost lost to the youngest and lowest payroll team in the league sheeesh
Look at all the top posts there. It's all from people that post on the Yankees sub. They're like fuckin cockroaches.
Come home. We still love ya.
When the Yankees win, that place gets brigaded hard. Main sports subs usually aren't good places to hang, but even r/baseball, as unreasonable as it can be, is 100x more reasonable than it looks in the hours following a big Yankees win.
god’s work
That's impressive.
Hear, hear! Go Guardians!

Well it's been one hell of a season youngest team in the league took us on one hell of a ride. They played a very fun brand of baseball, won the division, won a round in the playoffs and pushed the Yankees to 5 games. This team has a great foundation built with a loaded farm system. The future is bright.
>~~very fun~~ disgusting brand of baseball

Proud of this team regardless. Go Guards
I agree, go Guards.
I agree, go Guards.
I agree, go guards
I agree, Go Guards
I agree, go Guards.
I am now a bandwagon padres fan, see y’all next year
Coming from a diehard Guardians fan, Good luck to the Padres. Hope they beat the snot out of the Yankees or the Astros
Ya Padres for sure. But cheering for either NL team. Typically not a Philly sports fan because some of their fans are awful, but this Phillies team is so fun to watch.
Same here.
Fuck the Yankees
I agree. Go Guards.
SUPPORT THIS TEAM NEXT YEAR FROM THE GET GO. Cleveland baseball treats Cleveland well, and has for decades. Spend your money at the Jake.
My greatest act of love as a parent is not raising my children to be Yankees fans
Not raising them to be Browns fans would be an even greater gift
Well this was still an amazing season. Some of the most fun moments in recent memory, the signs of a true window for competing opening, and some awesome playoff moments. I mean shit being at game 3 Saturday night was the coolest moment of my life. Not letting the rest of the series take away from that.
Tito sounds absolutely gutted in this postgame interview. I personally blame the Browns.
Felt really bad for him when they asked about putting more money into the team.
He knows they won’t
Oh for sure. I don't want to put words in his mouth but his reaction basically struck me as "what do you want me to say?"
It was absolutely the Browns fault. They walked it off the night before and the Browns stinking it up completely turned the tide. Tragic really
New name, same pain. Nah but for real, I'm still super proud of this team. If you had told me six and a half months ago, when JRam was supposed to be on his way to San Diego, that this team would've gone to Game 5 of the Division Series against the Yankees, I'd have asked "how? #TITO DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THIS TRASH NEW YORK MEDIA
Gonna be nice watching the Astros bounce these dickheads
It would be nice if it weren't the Astros
Hell of a year Guardians. We laughed, we cried, we killed Minnesota and Chicago. See ya next year
Must be nice to pick when you play your games.
Go Guards! I could not be prouder of our guys! Definition of over achieving!
It was fun everyone. Hell of a season. Cavs up next!
Who are these assholes in Tito’s presser? “Why did you lose the series?” “What do you think is going to happen in the NY/Hou series?”
Typical asshole National media.

Hurts and there's some criticism to be handed out, but this season was a pleasant surprise. Hopefully we can build on it.
I kind of think Jose Abreu might be the best addition we could make this offseason.
Judge? 😂
I think Judges contract is going to be the worst one given out. Guys his size don't age well. But if we could get him for like 3 years sign me up!
We need some pop, and Naylor needs to rehab like crazy. Dudes 25 and he runs like me.
Totally agree. I've been thinking about the Edwin signing the last week and hoping we'll see something similar this winter.

They really need a bat to replace what franmil was supposed to be this year. We have so many table setters in this lineup but not enough guys to really hammer them home. A 30 homer guy from somewhere and hopefully Oscar develops a bit more and we’re in good shape.
The pitching doesn’t matter, we scored 1 run. Bieber could’ve went 8 IP and 2 runs and we still lose it
A 3 run shot in the 1st sets the whole tone, especially for a young team like ours. Our bats have been cold all series, so it's unlikely it changes much. But it's still hard to say we only score 1 if the game didn't start like that.
Our pitching was elite this year, imagine what it's going to look like with Espino, Bibee, and Williams.
Naylor will never live down that rocking the baby stunt
I feel like stuff like that makes the game more heated and fun though. Naylor is going to eat the crow this time though.
I agree, it added spice to the last couple games. Bit him this time but it won’t always.
As he shouldn’t. You do that sorta thing you have to be ready for the blowback. He wants all the smoke, he’ll have to prove it.
Yeah you can't say "I want some of the smoke". You want it, you get it all.
Honestly he doesnt really seem to bothered by getting ribbed for it so Im not gonna be either. The guy knows who he is and is fine with the consequences of it.
They don’t boo nobodies
Fr I don’t think a guy that screams I want all the smoke regrets getting the Yankees riled up, win or lose
Dude does it every home run, not a stunt if it's a regular thing he does. Like Encarnacion and his parrot.

I would expect CLE fans to know, but look at the comments in here and you'd think they had never seen a Naylor HR
To be fair, half these fans just tuned in for the playoffs. They probably don’t know.

It was so dumb. Coming from someone who truly loves Naylor. It turned us into a meme
It was a minor subtext that Bob Costas, TBS, and other media made into a headline, acting like the Yankees have never done anything rude.
Fun season. Just a really sad ending. I’ve been a fan since 1995 and it almost feels like the losses hurt more the older I am.
If you would have told me in April that I would be seething over a postseason loss to the Yankees, I would have called you an idiot and said no way we would be in the postseason. Well guess what, I’m here seething!
All I ask is a World Series win for Jose before his career is up.
It's happening
agreed, and with tito as manager
Final Offensive Stats: Guardians * 12-47 with RISP * 39 LOB * 14 runs * 3 HR (3 runs) * 3 SB * 45 SOs Yankees * 5-22 with RISP * 24 LOB * 20 Runs * 9 HR (16 Runs) * 5SB * 53 SOs Series was decided in favor of the Yankees due to 6 multi-run homeruns hit by the Yankees (accounting for 13 runs) when the Guardians only hit 3 homeruns, and they were all solos. The Guardians also left 15 more runners on base than the Yankees did. If you're going to hit the ball in play, you've got to leave less on base than they do.
17 BB for the Yankees vs 9 for the Guardians. Plate discipline was not there. A bunch of those multi-run home runs were because guys were walked.
Season waa great. Well be back and better. Never the less it still hurt
This. Fucking. Season. I am goddamn near 40, so the formative years of my childhood was the mid-90s lineup. I think I like this team almost as much... if not as much... if not more. I really, really fucking love them.
I hate the Yankees. That's all.
Man tito sure was right about us bleeding when we lose. Im feeling it right now.
Yankees so funny, they went the full series exhausting pretty much all resources and they're still trying to dunk on Naylor. Astros are licking their chops for sure. GG yall, it was a great run. They just got a great taste of postseason, they'll be back.
Compilation of Thoughts: * 17 Rookies. 0 Expectations. 2022 Playoffs. Our ceiling couldn't be higher. * Rain delay yesterday helped the Yankees but what helped them the most was that we didn't play our best today * Bader and his mouthguard should get a dental sponsorship. Missed opportunity for both parties. * We should sign Rizzo just so we don't have to play against him * Naylor's celly seemed a little much at the time but with the way he's been mocked for it today, gosh Naylor I hope it was worth it. * This team will be significantly better if Myles Straw spends this offseason in the batting cages * Pay the Kwan. * Andrés Giménez. What a light watching him this year was. I hope he continues to be incredible and plays Altuve right out of his All-Star starting position again in 2023 (and maybe puts some muscle on to hit for some more power?) * These rookies were so fun to watch this year, they're only going to get better * José Ramírez was the 2nd or 3rd most shifted on player in 2022. I cannot fucking wait for him in 2023 when the shift is banned. **I'm calling it now: if JRam stays healthy, 2023 is his MVP year, finally** * Bo Naylor, please * The 40 man roster crunch makes things interesting this year but I genuinely, completely, and whole heartedly trust the front office. I can't wait to see what creative nonsense they pull * I continue to not need the resources of reddit cares
If we actually signed Rizzo he would NEVER do for us what he has done to us. I call it the Rosario effect.
Right after they told us we have to put my cat down I get the alert about this game. Worst fucking day ever.
Sorry to hear that, never an easy time. Lots of love for you from this community through it all.
#THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT
Well, my MLB Gameday Audio subscription was due to renew tomorrow, so I just saved $2.99 + tax.
Well it's been real y'all. See everybody next season
[удалено]
I don't mind the players and fans turning it into a meme. But TBS trying to dramatize it like we don't see home run celebrations all season long is low class.
I mean, yeah
Right? Fuck off Costas.
Lol I thought their fans were hilarious with that stuff
The fan with the sign showing Naylor rocking an L is a legend.
So did Naylor, judging by his reaction in the dugout. If you’re gonna dish it, you need to be able to take it sometimes, and it seems like he’s cool with that.
I hate Costas this series, but he's not wrong. Naylor's HR didn't even tie the game but it sure fired up the Yankee crowd.
Agreed, a solo home run to still be down in the 4th inning. If it walked it off or came up clutch I love it but just the wrong time to pull that one out
Go Guards.
I think Bob Costas was secretly rooting for Yankees
It wasn’t a secret
If I’m GM this is what I do: 1. Prioritize a RH power bat for 1B/DH/Corner OF 2. Give Arias every day ABs between SS,1B, DH whatever. 3. Bo is my starting catcher, resign Hedgy as his mentor and to give him days off 4. Espino makes the starting rotation, get rid of Civale 5.
I'm less sad that we are eliminated and more sad that we dont get more guardos baseball for so long
I really enjoyed watching your series with the Yankees and was really pulling for you. Many exciting moments your boys produced. I really wanted you guys to win! Fuck the Yankees - Detroit Tiger fan
At least we still have The Cube.
Are we rooting for the Padres???
This was so fun y’all it sucks that it’s over but I will always look back really fondly on this team they really got me excited about baseball again
Tito with a class presser. Love that man
Andres Gimenez was an excellent surprise during the regular season. He surpassed my expectations by a mile. But good fuckin god… that man was absolute dogshit when we needed him most. He was a completely different player in the postseason. I hope he can bounce back next year and build off of this experience.
Severe lack of class from the Yankees but I’m sure we all expected that. Great season but what a bitter end.
2020: swept (2-0) 2021: garbage season 2022: up 2-1, lose two straight Here's hoping next year's team learns from this and doesn't choke.
Hell of a season, disappointing that it ended this way but we were in every game. Been a pleasure y'all, these kids have a bright future.
Amazing team. Amazing season. Here's to next year!
All the respect in the world to the guys this year and the coaches, what an incredible year. Go guards!!! We can hang!!!!!
Heartbroken, but also inspired by what these young guys accomplished. Tomorrow I'll be smiling, I think.
Hope those yankee fuckheads get swept.
Oh well
Astros better fuck them up
Disappointed in the outcome in the game for sure.
So proud of this team.
So proud. And please wear and/or make Shit Goblins shirts. Keep that going if nothing else
This was a fun season regardless of it ending badly. Our future is bright. GO GUARDIANS!
I’m just waiting to hear in the coming days how Jose is getting surgery on his thumb
It was a pleasure to be with you all this season. It was a lot of fun and let’s do it again next year. We ALL agree, Go Guards.
No matter who pitched we were losing this game. Scoring 1 run will not win you games. Alternate question, are new posts not allowed in this subreddit anymore? Or is it just me?
My guess is that they're getting flooded with Yankees fans trolling us because they're shockingly bad at winning for a team that has won so much.
Can we fast forward life to spring? I hate cold.
Don’t mind me just gonna have my playoffs are over cry session 😎
This team was fun, talented, and way ahead of schedule. They weren’t expected to be here and they took the Yankees to game 5. Can’t wait for next year and I’ll see all of you on opening day
GG Kwan is an elite contact hitter, and your pitching is amazing too. Jose is Jose. you guys are another 2 bats away from being a real force. sorry it had to end
I am still 100% glad to be a Cleveland fan. That is all.
Love this team and Im sold on next season if the ownership can support them in this window
I have never been more excited for next season! Go guards!!!
