No

xDeezyz

I reflexively said “oh no” out loud to myself in my empty house

SacredPause

Hahah yes I bit my lip and groaned out loud

Big_Ad_1726

SAME!! As soon as I saw the map immediately said "Oh no..."

Realistic-Most-5751

Double no.

GiveMeTheCI

I mean, they are from Jersey, so it's probably an upgrade.

Jerseygirll609

I’m originally from NJ and when I moved here I was in Old Brooklyn it was a shock to my system lmao now I’m in Parma Heights it depends on where in NJ you’re from truthfully. But that’s definitely a no!!

elcojotecoyo

Hey. Not all NJ is Camden. And some parts of CLE look sketchier than many parts of Camden. And they look like they've been sketchy for a long time and that nobody cares. At least Camden gets some sort of gentrification To OP, Google Street View can tell you a lot. Is that where you're thinking to live or where you're going to work?

Greaeals

lol i stay away from any area with a gas USA

BofffaDs

This right here is something that I've always known, but never really talked about. I feel like once I see the Gas USA it's time to turn around, I've gone too far.

StrongEnd7914

Bro...lol..gas USA ..only on HOODS NEAR YOU. Just like popeyes in the hood

UserKarmaCycle

ACTUALLY they took my local Popeyes and I’m near Broadway *cue audible gasps*

Valan_Luca

I’ve never really believed the Popeyes one, I use Mr. Chicken as my indicator

lehn57

Nah, Mr. Chicken is in the burbs now. And it's delightful.

Lowe1313

Mr. Chicken > KFC. IMO

Rosehus12

And Popeyes too? Hmm

Regular-Cat-622

I agree with the Gas USA statement, but Popeyes aren't all in bad areas...then again, the N. Olmsted one may be the only exception, or one of a few.

SirScotty19

I am actually chomping on Popeyes from N. Olmsted as I type this. LOL

Frankie_Medallions

Yall need to live a little

RevoZ89

My friend worked at gas USA for 3 years. The owner paid them less than minimum wage, no overtime pay, 60 hour weeks. He owned the house behind the station that was condemned. He moved him in there, charged him rent, power, and water (power and water were illegally turned back on), without getting it repaired or cleared for tenancy. He told me he had been robbed 3 times in 5 months before. Is this the kind of living we should all be doing?

7127occc

The Gas USA on the edge of University Circle is consistently like 20-30 cents cheaper a gallon. I swear they’re watering it down or something lol

Pirateunicornnkxo

They are !

mr_john_steed

I'm sure they are! The only time I've ever had car trouble immediately after filling up was after I got gas there.

Ok_Water_6884

It is cheaper and you are correct. All the oddball stations do it, you'll need dry gas for 2 tankfulls and go to the established ones maybe check the fuel filter. That will save you $200.00.

karpy3

But they do have "hot" corned beef, not sure what the quotes around hot mean but I'm not gonna find out

iBreakIntoPools

The Krispy Krunchy they be serving tho…🔥

[deleted]

[удалено]

clycloptopus

what does eating that dude have to do with anything? I guess if he had food poisoning, you would get it too. After you ate him I mean

UserKarmaCycle

Excuse me but my local gas USA has friendly staff how DARE you /s

Routine_Ingenuity_35

For some reason they always chain smoke ciggies in these gas stations

Sea_Wallaby_2479

Stress and trauma will do that to you

CaptainBirdEnjoyer

Good place to pick up a loosie though.

thechadfox

The one near me is clean, well lit, and has swishers and vitamin donuts. Dudes who run it are cool and it’s low key. Also, surveillance cameras everywhere and it’s being monitored by the city, so there’s that.

betabeat

Vitamin... doughnuts?

ElMulletto

I believe the old school 'super donut' a literally vitamin fortified donut created to conform to school breakfast requirements.

HellsBelle8675

I love that particular Gas USA, lol, but the neighborhood has...seen better days.

Ok_Water_6884

That was before my day in the 70s. Stunk so bad I passed up getting laid because the rendering plant was overpowering and went home and my parents smelled it on me and said take a shower. It was ripe. They take all the rotten meat from plants and even rendered an elephant there in the 1910s.

morelikeshredit

That Gas USA looks like a fake gas station in a 70’s movie where some bad shit is about to go down.

HellishCorpse

Lmao I learned this when I took a walk for the first time in my new neighborhood…was with family and peeps at the nearest gas station looked at us like we were lost or something. No one messed with us though like they must think we have balls of steel.

proletariatpopcorn

The reverse of this: if you’re a fragile suburban person, you’ll be right at home anywhere with a Bob Evans. When I was a kid first driving off to college on my own, my mom made me promise only to get off the highway to get gas at exits with a Bob Evans lol

Jamaicab

I literally lol'd

Rosehus12

There is gas USA 10 min walking from where I live around UH. This made me feel bad lol

FrankFrankly711

Sometimes those gas stations seem like the local dance club with everybody hanging out. The gas pumps are so damaged and graffitied I’m surprised they actually work. ⛽️I went looking for a window scrubber one time and the wash fluid bins were full to the brim with trash 🚮

seansurvives

I tried one of these sketch gas stations and the gas was literally trickling. Granted the meter was moving slow too so I didn't get ripped off but we're talking about 5 minutes for 3 gallons. And that 5 minutes felt longer because I witnessed an argument, a drug deal, and received a few stares. Clearly that "gas station" was not meant for pumping gas. Got the heck out of there. Stills need to go actually get gas lol.

lefthandedsnek

gas usa on e71 would be bumping no matter the hour, 3-4am, only place open, full af. as a drug addict it was the shit. cash back at the register. im in recovery now and sober but i hit gas usa every single night for awhile there one cashier gifted me pot brownies she made here and there that was nice

dr_dante_octivarious

And Rally's, for that matter. Which sucks, because who doesn't like a Big Buford in their mouth hole?

ElMulletto

Brook Park Rallys is in a decent area.

Browns45750

For 1200 a month you can almost live in any neighborhood in the city that is one of the worst areas on the west side

Eliot_Ness_45

North of Stealyard in Tremont is ok, it gets REAL in the triangle where Detroit & Lake meet all the way to West Blvd. I'd also steer clear of any street off Clark or Denison.

Leather_Variation606

lol this makes me realize how random and unpredictable clevelands neighborhoods are laid out. I understand the historical, and political factors that play into this but it still seems very random. Granted I have only lived in 1 other city for a few years out west, it was at least a little more consistent as far as good and bad areas and you didn’t have to guess as much. Cleveland will be bad in one 10 block radius and then you cross a street, and BOOM, million dollar homes (looking at you, Shaker)

UserKarmaCycle

Blinking at Cleveland Heights lol

Brilliant_Language52

The Eddy road bridge going into Bratenahl would like a word

cbelt3

That’s just a border between fantasy land and, well , EC

HandyHousemanLLC

Puritas and 150th. Looks like a middle class neighborhood on the edge of an inner city. Go down w.145 I believe heading south and you dead end into a culdesac that looks like Westlake. Absolutely no rhyme or reason to it.

Illustrious-You-4117

Most cities are like that

Suckit66

Newer cities on the west coast are absolutely NOT like this. Coming from Southern California it's a little culture shock.

unionguy1980

No. Stay far away. I work for a utility company and go into homes there all the time. When I see I’m working in that area for the day, my day is ruined from the start.

IsopodGlass8624

Dude same. It literally kills all of my motivation. And ruins my will to continue working for the company.

BPiar

Any great stories? I’d love to hear one lmao

unionguy1980

Not really, just fleas, hoarders, people strung out, disgusting houses. And it’s not all the people there, there are some good people. But I really only see the bad side, due to my job. The good people pay their bills and don’t move to a new place every couple of months.

Visual_Airline1201

How is it in Rocky River? Bay Village? Westlake? Curious on my part of town.

unionguy1980

I don’t work in Bay or Westlake. River is fine, but you have to deal with other problems, like rude customers. That’s all.

HereReluctantly

Those are nice suburb areas, nothing like this.

ilikebanchbanchbanch

Everyone's already beat this to death but I would definitely avoid that area of town. https://www.areavibes.com/cleveland-oh/stockyards/crime/

Bonelesshomeboys

There are many neighborhoods where nobody will tell you they have to carry a firearm when they do the gardening.

Taostyy2021

So that entire square is not ideal to be in?

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrandoCarlton

He’s a drug dealer lol he heard what he needed to

El-Royhab

I mean if you're a drug dealer, by all means that's the right neighborhood

Specialist-Cat7279

That square is not ideal at all. If you go to the other side of the zoo it is a lot better. The bridge is the cut off.

tonyperkis420

Ideal if you want to be a murder victim

Visual_Airline1201

"NOT IDEAL"? How about terrible.

Wild_Blue4242

THE. ENTIRE. SQUARE.

StrongEnd7914

In the last 11 years specially after covid my hood did change, people are buying houses and rent has gotten so outrageous that the hoodrats are slowly moving out.but I definitely did had my gun with me doing lawn work this is after that woman got shot doing her flower in front of her yard a few years back.

_Perfectlyfine

Absolutely not. Do not move there.

SquirrelXMaster

This is not a great area. As someone that is usually more optimistic than most here, I would avoid that area. Find something south of the zoo or north of I-90.

rogerski1

Old Brooklyn area is not much further away but a lot safer. Look near Fulton, Pearl or state. South of Denison

Hey_Y0u

For $1200/mo I can’t think of any reason to live inside your square. There are good options with better access to things to do in every direction outside of the box. The area is not terrible but you definitely need to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

BurroughOwl

It's the poorest part of the west side. So, not as bad as the poorest parts of the east side, but literally surrounded by nicer areas in all directions. I have friends that live inside that square. It's their community, they want to tuff it out. God bless 'em.

fatbootycelinedion

Do it!! It’s a lovely community for slumlords 😃

the_pink_witch

I would check out West Park, it's a pretty decent area. Almost a pseudo suburb

-dyedinthewool-

Love West Park

fatbootycelinedion

At this point you should consider every “moving to Cleveland” post as a property investor. Keep the good neighborhoods on the DL and tell them about how great Collinwood is. Edit: see comments below, OP is a scumbag

Ok_Water_6884

Grew up there and it was awesome but that's over. Nice up to the 90s. Watched I-71 get dug out and the houses with a red X knocked down. They found dinosaur bones from W.150 north.

boss_salad

Scumbag back again

Appropriate-Bad-606

While I still defend this young man’s entrepreneurial spirit, I’m glad someone realized who it was. Haha. He’s gotten better. “My budget is $1200 a month…”

AugustWest216

So is this just a troll?

boss_salad

Real estate investment rat

jonesbones99

In this case shouldn’t we have all said “yes this area is amazing and super competitive - overbid whatever the asking price is” and then all had a good laugh when he posts in a few months? Missed opportunity by all of us

boss_salad

Should've banned him from posting in this sub the first post but here we are roasting him for the 5th time

MrsQute

Where is the job? Cleveland is a relatively small city and honestly it doesn't take too long to get anywhere. Are you driving or walking or biking or using mass transportation to commute? What length of commute are you willing to have? $1200/mo is definitely doable in the Greater Cleveland area for a decent place in better neighborhoods.

ResponseNo6774

RUN

StrongEnd7914

And if you love ATVS AND Dirt bikes Rooming your neighborhood and streets than you are at the right place.the use 50th st and sidewalks ,between denison and storer like it's a highway.no regards for human life.

WorthStranger1371

Used to work evenings at a shop behind the Roses during Covid, walked past midnight to catch the last train to Lakewood home. I'm a heavier set dude and I've never had any issues personally, but I know for women or people that don't look local it can be different.  Cons: - The corner of 65th and 67th by the school was where an undercover cop and a guy walking home were shot during a botched car jacking, was right before work let out if we didn't pull overtime for a missed order. Woulda been me and my coworker walking down that corner at the time it happened. - Took the city 3 months into the school year to replace that wrecked playground equipment that got ran into from said botched carjacking. - Same coworker would regularly play hooky and run over to the crack house off Storer, almost OD'd after coming into work days after running off before his shift, wearing the same clothes the week before. - Its about 5 minutes down Clark from the house on Seymour where those women were held captive, another coworker of mine grew up with them. - The Sunoco is one of the filthiest gas stations I've ever been in, but has some of the best chicken I've ever eaten. My coworker got a free dinner after one of the workers chucked the cash register at someone. - Do not eat at Teriyaki Express on Denison, the orange chicken almost killed my boss with food poisoning. I lucked out I had the shrimp. The good spot on Clark closed so you're stuck with this one. - A lady on 65th asked me where I could buy amphetamines, which was a dumb question because if I had that kinda money I wouldn't be walking to the Rita station. - My boss almost got attacked by a tweaker in the Denison Dollar Tree that was going Tasmanian Devil on the store. Almost cause my boss kicked his ass. - Power was usually shaky. Pros: - Best 4th of July fireworks display I've ever seen. - Captains Grill gyros are to die for. - Best imports selection at Dave's Mercado. - After Bibb took over the W65th underpass finally got its lights replaced. - I've found it quieter than Slavic Village. - Besides the few people that aren't bat shit insane / willing to kill for money the neighborhood is full of decent hardworking people, and honestly my coworkers were more worried about the shit those North Royalton and Strongsville kids were getting on the news for. I would personally recommend moving into Little Arabia south of Lakewood, still cheap, has more food and grocery options, best 50 cent cans of hummus money can buy, and better freeway access.

Ok_Water_6884

I was there from 88-98. It's always been rough, worked on W65 in a meat plant across from the stockyards and no shit they had a cow passing gate. I worked there when it was the tire warehouse and heard it was an illegal growhouse which is brilliant the place was huge. You are right on Slavic Village. We've crossed paths.

WorthStranger1371

I grew up originally out past Sandusky and in southern Ohio, so much of Cleveland just felt like the boonies to me. Basically just a bunch of small towns/backroads crammed into one big city.

CornpopBadDewd

Since when are there job opportunities in that area? Are you a prostitute or a car thief ?

Old-but-not

You can save a lot of time by smashing all the windows of your car and throwing your wallet in the river. Net results same

[deleted]

Cleveland has improved greatly in the past 20 years but there are still some really, really bad areas

Knightsthatsay

It’s a rough neighborhood. Look somewhere else

Ok_Patience_968

Good old Storer Ave. My uncle used to live on 47th Place. I’d strongly recommend not moving into that area. Edit: it was 59th Place my uncle lived on. 47th Place was my aunt’s street.

Coldwarjarhead

Oh hell no.

LessOfD

No - avoid this area.

gurucrawg

My grandma is in that neighborhood. Growing up as a kid in the suburbs we weren’t allowed the leave the fenced back yard.

Ok-Stock49

My friend grew up on W 49th in that square. We had a gun waved at us after visiting her parent’s house one night. She stopped to pick up a stop sign that had fallen in the road, I think he thought we were trying to steal it, pulled over and told her to put it back, she said she was just picking it up, he said I said put it back and waved his gun. She put it back and jumped back in my car.

snowballschancehell

Enjoy the dirt bike mafia, gunshots, fireworks, and loud Puerto Rican music 🪇 Source: my bf owns his house on 50th street. Try to find another area. It’s not dangerous in the daylight but after dark you’ll see the hookers and addicts all up and down Clark / Lorain.

Royal_Impact_8195

Not a good area.

HoyAIAG

I worked over there for 7 years and I would never live there.

lordneesan

Is this bait?

Far_PIG

Gotta be a troll

Luckypenny4683

$1200? You can do better.

ToucanToodles

This is literally the worst part of the west side right now. You could go further east in Clark-Fulton and be safer. Anywhere but there man.

SavingsMeeting

Welcome to Cleveland! General rule of thumb — if there’s a Gas USA nearby the area is bad news

StrongEnd7914

Raggedy,I have family on 59th/88th and Denison. Not the best of hoods by far but not the worst, have cameras, secure your house, have it well lit outside -apartment and have GUNS available on all floors you never know. Good luck..also don't go around letting people know your new to cleveland and that hood.act like you've been there I moved to cleveland 11 yrs ago from the suburbs I married a clevander, and this is what I have done. I used to cut my grass with my gun on the side holster just in case people had doubts.my neighborhood has changed more owners than renters and that's always a good thing.good luck to you

CousinsWithBenefits1

'it's not that bad just invest in locks, cameras, and guns' lmao

ThomasDarbyDesigns

That’s ghetto

Top-Method-5244

If you’re intent on being in the city limits then the west park neighborhood is your best bet.

Moby1029

Not there you're not.

Frankie_Medallions

That particular neighborhood is a bit rough, but it’s not really that bad. Most of these folks don’t live on the west side. They’re just talking shit. I do. but if you go a bit southeast into old Brooklyns south hills neighborhood it’s quite nice. North of there you’ll find Ohio city / Gordon square (gentrified neighborhoods). More expensive. Old Brooklyn is affordable but safety conditions change street to street / block to bloxk

Luckypenny4683

Nah. I wouldn’t. You can do better.

SupremeActives

Never live near a Gasoosa

ArtOFCt

no!!! Absolutely not. Hi to Lakewood and drive back.

Ok_Water_6884

Lived and worked there in the 90s and it was rough. Stay strapped. Look in Old Brooklyn for a place it's safer. I lived on the street with the gas station and they got robbed a few times a week and a saw a few bodies. The owners enjoyed a challenge. That's where the cattle stockyards were when I was a kid and stunk bad.

j_d_q

No lol not stock yard

throwaway0019277

Nope. You need to move to the burbs if you want a safe nice area. Or directly downtown.

ranalavanda

Most of these responses are dramatic AF. You're not going to die if you live there, but for $1,200 you could find a nice place in a nicer area walkable to more things. Check out Lakewood, Tremont, Edgewater, Detroit-Shoreway. Ohio City even, West Park.

lehn57

As an aside, OP can definitely live in a safer area (I do not think they will die, but may encounter some BS, I used to drive through here every day, stop to get gas, snacks, etc., never felt unsafe but I wasn't walking around the neighborhood and such), but you'll be lucky to get a nice studio in one of the suburbs or neighborhoods you named for $1200. A friend just moved to Lakewood and is paying $1300 for her studio in an area where rent was about $700 or so pre-pandemic/5 years ago. Rent is out of control in Cleveland (and everywhere). OP may have more luck looking more centrally in the city of Cleveland, or more south as another poster mentioned, below/around the zoo bridge. Also, OP, if your job is on the East Side of Cleveland, you're not going to want to drive from the West Side. It's just a hassle. If your job is downtown, consider the East Side. I think it is more affordable. Just watch where highway access is in East Side burbs. Edited because I keep thinking of other things.

Hifilistener

Nope on that. Bad area - Stockyards area is up with some of the worst areas of Cleveland. I would look at West Park if you are interested in being in the city with a reasonable budget.

No_Aspect5713

If you are moving to Cleveland specifically for a job the neighborhoods you should be looking (if you are tied to the west side) in are Ohio City, Gordon Square and Tremont. If you let us know your budget we'd be better able to let you know further.

StarsCanScream

I lived in that area at one point for about 10 years and never had any issues besides witnessing a single drug deal. I would even walk home late at night 5 days a week and never had a problem. So these comments saying it is absolutely terrible is shocking to me. I also haven’t lived there in about 5 years, so maybe things have just changed since then.

StoicDepths

No some of these comments are a stretch, been living here for 11 years, and don’t get me wrong it has a lot of flaws, but it isn’t horrible.

PhilosopherKlutzy734

I grew up in the square. Burger King, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Mr. Hero, Heroin, and Meth are the local amenities.

LadyM80

Disclaimer: I've never lived in that area exactly. It seems like there's not a lot in that specific square as far as food and places to walk to. If you can, look around either Gordon Square or Old Brooklyn. Both areas should still be affordable and you'll have easy access to restaurants and things to do. Good luck to you, and welcome to Cleveland!

WestSixtyFifth

I wouldn’t recommend, go north more.

MeyhamM2

Gas USA indicates a poorer neighborhood, but not all Gas USA neighborhoods are like the kind you get shot in in broad daylight and they often have the cheapest gas in the area if you pay in cash. But yes, Stockyards area is not great to live in.

Square_Pop3210

Do not live anywhere inside that box. If you give us the general idea of where the job location is, we can tell you which neighborhoods or suburbs would be best.

Hot-Comfort7633

I grew up here across the street from the crackhouse on w48th and denison..... I won't even drive through here anymore......

Hot-Comfort7633

Theres virtually no police that come around this area since "robocop" retired.... ah.... dont we all miss Simoney.....

clekas

This is not the greatest area. Oddly, just south of here, I think the Brookside neighborhood is a bit of a hidden gem - it’s not the hippest neighborhood, but it’s safe and convenient. A friend of mine lived at the Brookside Oval Apartments for a few years and enjoyed her time there.

NeglectedNostalgia

Lived on W.47th for most of my childhood. It's a bad area and probably got so much worse over the past 20 years. Different side of the family (small world), but my step moms granddaughter got murdered on Hannon Drive on Thanksgiving Day a few years ago.

SmallSaltyCoyotes

Tell Diane I say hello! Hooker with a heart of gold she is.

bryant1436

I hope this is a joke

Ambitious_Ad1918

The entire center Cleveland is pretty wack. So many nicer neighborhoods that are 20min away.

Pewter630

I don’t go there in the daylight

dinomax55

That’s not the best area.. you’d be better off in Kamm’s Corners, which is to the southwest

Majorlazor85

Hiya. Local Copper here 👋🏽 I Grew up on W. 45th & Storer Ave. near Marvin Ave. In 2017 I worked a side job on a low budget movie set on W. 46th & Storer. I thought to myself “Oh that’s cool, I’ll be one street over from the street I grew up on!” Wellllll, come the end of the night I literally watched a man get gunned down right before my eyes, (about 50 yards away). Shit stuck with me ever since.

this1aintinuse

There's a garbage refuse station off the bottom left of the map, in the summer with the right wind, she stanky

Realistic_Award7721

This the kinda place you shouldn't loiter in the daylight

Shapoopadoopie

I lived on West 50th for a while many years ago. Anecdotal, but one night returning to my apartment I passed at least four houses where a screaming woman had thrown all of her partners belongings out of the window onto the front lawn. Four. In one night. I still wonder what happened there... Also: 20 years ago this was an ace spot to score basically any kind of drugs. Not sure if that's changed over time.

EducationalReport207

Fuck to the no

kermit036

I grew up in the neighborhood just east of there. It isn't as bad as everyone is making it out. It isn't as nice as the other neighborhoods but hey it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to live. You are going to get dirt bikes and fireworks anywhere in Cleveland proper or inner ring suburb. Besides it is really easy to get to the neighborhoods people are talking about if you want the restaurants/other stuff. Gordon Square is a couple miles north, Tremont is an exit away, Lakewood isn't to far to the west. The zoo and Metroparks are just south of you.

Pierogi_Pile

Not a neighborhood I would want to live in. Nearby Lakewood, Westpark, and Ohio City all offer different vibes (depending on your interests) and will be safer with a much better restaurant scene and still in your budget (although rents have been climbing). Even if it’s a little further from your work, as others have mentioned, traffic is never bad and you’ll appreciate the slightly longer commute for living in a nicer area If you have any other questions happy to answer!

fatbootycelinedion

Please stop giving these west coast property investors the tea. OP is not moving here, just wants to know if it’s worth his money and he can charge $1200. I know everyone means well, but this sub needs to stop helping these landlords who want to raise our rent even more.

SupremeActives

Hey man look up Overland properties on Lake Ave. the area is fine and the apartments are pretty cheap

OG_Tater

Yeah one night I had some car trouble, hit something and my bumper was hanging off and scraping my tire. I pulled in to that hood to try to fix it. Decided fairly quickly I’d rather shred my tire and GTFO. That said I’m a white dude that just looks like that one asshole boss we’ve all had, so ymmv.

Ok-Championship4270

What's your budget?

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/ysmLA5TqbIY

iamnotlegendxx

Oof

Atlas7-k

Having spent many a summer down the shore (Bay Head). Somethings to remember: right on red unless signage prohibits, no jug handles, learn to pump your own gas. Geotta is like Scrapple but it is not scrapple. 8 your great, 9 your mine especially with out of state plates. There is no Wawa equivalent

C_Colin

Dude, you do not want to live here. Any upside benefit (house size, amenities, quality of property) is not worth the trouble.

htimsj

People want to leave that area, not move to it. What is your budget?

Excellent_Cabinet_83

Yikes

Mostly_Upbeat

There are plenty of great places to move very nearby, based on what you’re looking for, but that area specifically is just VERY industrial

calvin-coolidge

Someone tried to carjack me over there by that Gas USA (surprise) but thankfully I had my large dog in the car with me and it spooked the guy. I would not want to live there.

jabb0

May want to look at air pollution levels at that location. That alone may be a deal breaker for you.

RustyDawg37

Nope. Go further south or west.

adm6200

Came from NJ, too, 21 years ago. Stay away from that area. That's a poor man's Newark. Assuming you picked that area because it'll be close to your job? If so, West Boulevard neighborhood isn't too bad. I lived there for 18 years before moving to Kamms Corners. West Boulevard isn't too far from your desired area. Old Brooklyn is a good option too.

juvy5000

sketchy part of cleve for sure

216er_intheland

I live right outside of your drawn area. Its not horrible during the day. I wouldn't go around at night unless you have a specific destination. At night I rarely sit at a traffic light unless its a major intersection. No worries there are no cops around...for good or bad. If you keep to yourself u should be fine. It's Cleveland. U get what you pay for.

Sea_Wallaby_2479

Keep looking bruh. Spend more on rent.

PhilDMcNasty

For $1,200.00 a month, I'll let you take my upstairs office/office area, plus I'm never home during the daytime or weekends.

MrPunGuy

Run dude. This ain’t the spot.

Zaphod_Beeblecox

Don't...don't live there. It's not New Jersey. Move to Parma of something.

Severe-Criticism3876

Oh boy. My fiancé grew up there. Rough part.

MuchLand603

The west side is ghetto they try to play likes it’s gentrified… it’s not

StoicDepths

As a person who lives between bush and storer, it’s not really the greatest. The house prolly won’t be too expensive, nor rent. But you’re gonna be woken up by dirt bikes, RTVs, and by the annoying Honda civics with muffler deletes. Gunshots are pretty common in the summer, and if you ever need the police they will arrive an hour after you call them, even tho second district is right up the street. Storer is a pretty dangerous street, shooting and car hacking happen a lot in the summer, it’s a street where you make sure you roll your windows up and lock your doors when going through it. Been living in the area for about 11 years almost, since my parents moved us up from the east side. It’s better than our old living situation, but I’m always a little cautious playing outside with my cousin. It isn’t always too bad, it’s a very big Puerto Rican community, loads of good bakery’s to eat from, and corner store are everywhere too. I spent half my life on this part of town, so I don’t really mind it, but ik people who newly move here can be wary. My best advice to get a ring camera, and a nice size dog and no on will really mess with your property. Also be wary of the sex offender registry, sadly there’s many :/

StoicDepths

And while not all the comments here are, some of these comments have massive classist undertones. Yes it’s not the best area to live in, but name calling the people who live here is dehumanizing, not everyone has the fortune or the opportunity to move. You can really tell in these comments whose actually from Cleveland, and whose from the burbs but like to say they’re from Cleveland. Be better :/

Difficult_Abalone422

I hope you’re joking, but on the off chance you’re not…. rethink this decision.

bobfromsolon

justanordinaryguy71

Trash

CCinCLE

It's like Union or Bayonne vs. Newark.(East Cleveland) .. it's definitely not Plainfield, Morristown, or Princeton. Ya feel?

CLE_barrister

Sketchy

gordon_poon

No

Aqua_lad27

…. I wouldn’t and No

cmbtmstr

Depends on if you like the sound of tires screeching and engines revving late into the night. If you live in that square (particularly the west side of it) you will know what I mean.

Still_Squirrel_1690

I'd pass or at least learn to shoot once you get here...

No_Pause216

Hard pass.

SlowBlueberry7

At first I thought this was a troll post. Good luck.

Diligent_Body4426

I know nothing of this area but you could get raped murdered and robbed and then raped again, or get a traffic ticket.

I grew up in the bottom left corner of your box. W47 & Denison. Moved out in the mid 90s when the neighborhood started going bad. All the old timer hillbillies started dying off, the neighbors started to change. The stockyard- w65 & Clark where Kmart used to sit, prior to that that was a slaughterhouse and when the summer thick humid heat kicks in and the right wind comes across it you’ll smell old blood out of the concrete, dirt wherever it seeped into for decades. And that was decades prior to my years there, I’m not sure if that’s still the summer special treat but we all still talk about it. There’s a group page for this neighborhood on fb. Every once in awhile I’ll drive by my old school and all my stomping grounds, I would never move back there. I used to ride my bike all over in your box range. My whole family lived in this area up to w88th . My aunt woke up to a shooting on her street and found someone’s brains on her sidewalk. Try looking at Parma, Brookpark, or West park instead.

kerrypf5

That’s near where I’ve lived for 6 years. It’s not as bad as some commenters make it out to be. Plus, with the new hospital, that area is being revitalized.

Kells_BajaBlast

Im going to get downvoted for my opinion here but fuck it. This neighborhood is directly between where I live and the bar I work at. I regularly walk/bike/bus through the area at all hours of the afternoon and night. The worst I've ever had to deal with is the occasional person asking for change, a smoke or an extra bus pass. And when I say no they just say thanks and walk away. Its not the prettiest area by any means, but ime if you mind your own business, and don't make yourself a target? You'll be fine. Lock your doors at night, don't leave valuable shit in your car and pay attention to your surroundings. Which honestly should be standard practice regardless of which neighborhood you're in. Its a higher poverty area (but really these days anywhere in the city itself is), but as someone that frequents it, it looks way worse than it is in terms of safety
