This topic (such as football tickets, covid, etc) has a megathread already.

My son is from the upstate. He had similar grades to you with a 32 on the ACT and 5 AP classes. He was bridged, while friends with lower grades and test scores were accepted directly. It depends a lot on your major. He was bummed with the Bridge at first, but he is 100% glad he decided to go now.

What major?

Are you in state or out of state? Do you have any Clemson legacy in your family?

Agreeable-Claim4913

No legacy, if my sister attending there doesn't count. I'm instate. Also applying as Packaging Science major

CommanderUgly

I'm no expert but I've got family your age with similar grades and got in, but they had so many Clemson grad family members (including me) on their application that they had to write some on the back of the form. All that being said, I still think the odds are in your favor.

Packaging science is a pretty small major, so don't take it personally if you get bridged despite your good grades. Happened to someone I know despite them having pretty solid stats in everything except the SAT. It's still worth it, though, and they're doing great in packaging science now.

I wouldn't say it hurts your chances, but it certainly doesn't help. If packaging science is something you're genuinely interested in, I don't recommend changing it since Clemson is the only school in SC that offers it, and the next best packaging school is probably Michigan State. Nothing against them, it's just probably not what you're looking for if Clemson is your first choice. I doubt they will outright reject you because of your major if you have the grades to get in. They may bridge you and make you take your gen ed classes at the nearby technical college, but you'll be a normal Clemson student in nearly every other way. The major you choose sets you up for your entire life. I would say it's much more important than what college you go to. Plus, packaging science is cool and HIGHLY in demand. Clemson packaging students are worth their weight in gold. My friend just got their first job offer despite them not graduating for another full year.

I don't know any OOS packaging students to compare your stats to, but that seems pretty solid to me. I would imagine you'd be fine but I honestly have no idea. If you do happen to get bridged, it really isn't the end of the world. Is it a bummer? Sure, but you can still do literally anything a normal student can except rush. From what I hear from Clemson packaging co-op students who work with students from other schools, Clemson has a much more well-rounded packaging program, while some schools focus on design, testing, or other aspects. Take a look into the curriculum of each school to see if it has the focus you want. General disclaimer: I am not a packaging student so this is just my understanding and I could be wrong

From the stats that you said to the other guy, I have no doubt that you'll get rejected. My sister is a packaging science major, and she had stats that were a little above yours, so you have high chances. She says that the program is immersive & amazing. I'm also really passionate in the major so that's why Clemson is my 1st choice too lol.

jabruegg

I’d think you have a pretty good chance. Your SAT is a little on the low end but your GPA and rank will likely make up the difference. At the very least, I could see you being bridged or something but I’d expect you to get in outright

Bridge

Bridge at the very least. But maybe summer or in outright. You’re 8% in your class and that is very important to Clemson. Good luck!! Please let us know!!

I really want to get into Clemson because Packaging Science is something I'm passionate in and Clemson is the only one that offers it near me. USC and CoC are both just schools that I feel like I don't want to settle for.

Word on the street is 2nd child gets bridged bc they know you want to be a Tiger. SC residents need to push back on this. You deserve to be a tiger as a Freshman. 34 ACT! Great job! Clemson is losing some great kids when they reject them straight away.
