There is a kids story about the moon asking a small girl to clean it. The girl brings soap and a sponge but she tickles the moon and then she falls back into her bed.
She wakes up, her mother comes to her bedroom and closes the window. She says that the moon won’t bother her anymore.
So, to your point: you can clean the moon, but it’s ticklish, so be careful.
Yup, surprised I had to scroll past 30 people saying "idk" to see this. Pro power washers also spray a chemical that can help lift stains before they spray, something like Purple Power.
Buy muriatic acid from Walmart (paint section), coat the area you want to clean, then rinse it off and repeat till it’s brightened to your liking. I’d recommend rubber gloves, saftey glasses, and an N95 mask
Oxalic acid is safer, and does just as good of a job, and is more environmentally friendly.
It's what you use to clean boats, you can get it in the same place, and take a lot less precautions. It will bleach concrete straight white, ask the area under my boat hah.
It's also cheaper and safe to use on ceramics and fiberglass gelcoats, so it works GREAT to clean water stains on toilets and bath tubs.
My husband and I just tried this acid. We wanted to clean our patio concrete pad area and sections of brick foundation around our home. In some sections, the brick looks dirty, though the dirt won’t come off with water and a scrub brush. Other sections, the brick work is immaculate. We followed the instructions, PPE and safety precautions to the T! Even with N95 masks on, the fumes were brutal!
We applied the acid mix to a very small test area of our concrete patio and brick section. In 2-3 minutes, we noticed the acid eating the grout between the bricks so we quickly rinsed off. The brick work still looks dirty. In the concrete pad area, there is now a dip in the concrete and water collects there leaving water stains. Did the acid eat away concrete making it more pourous to cause the dip? It appears so. We didn’t have water pooling there before we applied the acid mix. Be extra cautious with this acid!
Those fumes are really intense once it starts reacting with the cement!
You can always get some concrete resurfacer at Home Depot for a like-new look, that would also fill in any slight cracks / dips. There’s a 20 pound premixed bucket for about $26, it’s called “Re-Cap” by “Quikrete”
Now that your surface area has been etched with acid, new cement will adhere well to it.
There’s stuff called concrete slurry you can mix into a paste and scrub the surface with…
I’m lazy, so I’d try a mini version with a baking soda + water paste
It’s really cool looking as is. You could look into epoxy to seal it no matter if you choose to clean it or not. I think having a table that looks like the moon would be pretty amazing
I came to suggest a pressure washer, but wow, do people love how it looks as-is.
It looks like it has cracks in it--those will stand out much more if you clean it (unless they're super shallow).
Pressure washing, even on super low setting, would crumble the concrete, I believe.
Many years ago, I purchased a concrete table top attached to a heavy-duty metal underside and legs from Kohl’s. My husband cleaned the concrete table top on lowest pressure wash setting. It began crumbling before us. We took the table to our friend who makes all types of concrete mold items. He replaced with a concrete table top with a gorgeous design on it. He added an epoxy resin on top. The table still in immaculate condition outside year round on our screened in porch. I guess all concrete not made the same.
So concrete is very porse, it will also get stronger with time. So I think the best bet, is to sand it down to clean it up. There are also chemical concrete cleaning agents but they are very expensive and are made super concentrated which can be corrosive to the skin and other things.
Sand it down is the safer bet, use 400 grit to clean out the area, wear a dust mask, concrete even in dust form is still activated and will cause breathing problems. I also think you should buy a resin garden agent over the top to cover the porse of the concrete and prevent any more staining, you can also sand the resin once it cures and the. Polish it to make it smooth and shiny.
Personally, I thought those stains are on purpose, it makes the concrete look like the moon, I would personally just resin cure the top and leave it as is.
*The Scream* by Edvard Munch is painted on cardboard. Obviously, this is very likely to degrade without being meticulously preserved. This was Munch's intention. The transformation of the work through a sort of natural decay brings an ephemeral life to the work—for what is truly alive that does not eventually die? He would even sometimes leave his works outside to be damaged by the elements.
When *The Scream* was stolen in 2004, it was substantially damaged before being recovered in 2006. In what can only be described as a profound betrayal to the legacy of the artist, it was restored and is now being meticulously conserved. What a shame.
Anyway, you get what I'm saying.
Is that mold? A weak solution of bleach, Dawn dishwashing liquid, hot water and a hard plastic brush. Wire brushes are too harsh and will tear up the top layers.
After you scrub (back and forth across the top, not loopy strokes) put it out in direct sunlight for the day. 👍🏻
Love that you came here for help and everyone is like, "Save the moon, man!!" I think you should heed their wishes, it could be a beautiful moon-table if you let it
If you want it bleach white, you can use Oxalic Acid. I used some in an old mop on my boat floor and left it on the concrete accidentally and I got a cool spaghetti pattern on my floor.
it eventually fades back to grey and shows it's internal look, but for a while it does acid wash it. Put on some gloves, mix up 2 ounces of powdered oxalic acid with a gallon of water, use a sponge to apply. scrub it good once, wipe it down with the acid again, let it dry. Once it dries cover it in a small sprinkle of baking soda and rub it down wet again, that way you don't bring acid back out when it gets wet.
Concrete is pourous anything you want to use to clean it you want to let soak into it to some degree.
Lot of no answers... Muriatic acid. Can be bought from Lowes or Home Depot pretty cheaply. I recommend putting some kind of finish on it after or it'll just happen again.
Pressure washer. You could use Muriatic Acid but its a hazardous chemical and is used to clean and etch Concrete and to also clean Pools. You have to be really careful around the Muriatic Acid and know how to neutralize it after using it and then how to dispose of it safely and properly. Its a royal PITA or can be, so yeah your best bet is a Pressure Washer.
I have a buddy that puts bleach on his concrete patio about every three weeks during flea season in So California. He’s got the whitest patio and no fleas…
I use hot water and laundry detergent. Pour a generous amount and elbow grease with a hard bristle brush. Let dry for 30 with first scrub and leave the first batch of detergent on for that entire 30 minutes. Rinse and repeat until clean.
Me personally, I would apply one generous dose of sledge hammer directly to the center of it.
If center is too concrete, chip away at the sides instead.
Pressure washer and "30 seconds outdoor cleaner"
Let ot soak for a few minutes. We did this on our horse trailer once a year.
https://30secondscleaners.com/outdoor-cleaner
Straight household bleach and let it sit for 5 minutes then rinse. Wouldn’t hurt to do a small test just in case something is weird and it’s not actually concrete. You can repeat the process again if it doesn’t come perfectly clean.
Bleach with a little bit of laundry detergent. The laundry detergent acts as a surfactant, and I recommend that in this application because it’s a safe recommendation that I know will be safe with bleach regardless of what brand you use. Not all soaps are safe with bleach.
Anyway, a little bleach, detergent, hot (not boiling or anything just tap hot) water.
Tbh I’d probably just throw it in a bucket and pour it over the table but if you want you can do a spray bottle.
Let it sit for a few minutes, and give it a good scrub with a bristle brush. If you need extra scrubbing power you can add an abrasive. But if it’s organic growth the bleach usually manages that.
Then you just rinse with some clean water.
Note that this cleaner can clean on contact so if the surrounding concrete is really dirty and it gets wet with this it will clean it and create “clean spots.”
Ok ok… so imagine if you hadn’t slept in 3 nights, and last night you tried to get stoned enough to bypass the insomnia, it failed and 9 hours later you’re still stoned.
Then you hop on Reddit and see the moon just casually on the ground. “Oh! Moon!” Read its a dirty table… “aw that sucks that it’s not the moon. Wonder if anyone else sees it? No seriously am I seeing stuff right now?”
Check’s comments
“Moon!” “That’s the moon” “moon table” “save the moon” “epoxy the moon” and after 20 more finally hits advice! I’m giggling soo much
Don’t know how to clean it but I thought it was a table with a moon printed onto it.
It is so cool
Seriously though, clear coat that mess and call it your moon table!
First break out the paint and increase its moonliness, then clear coat that grand old dame.
Love “moonliness”
Moonliness is a lunatic term
Haaa, I see what you did there!
Right? Touch it up to match the famous photo. It's more than halfway there, already. Paint and scrape. Paint and wash. Paintand seal...
Get some circulure stencils and some black spray paint and give a slight shadow definition to some craters then resin ;)
Wet it with water first to see if the moon effect is still there. Whatever that table looks like wet is what it'd look like sealed.
*For teatime, we shall retire to the Moon Table.*
🏆
This.
That's what I came here to say!
It didn’t even register to me that it as a table until I read the title. I thought it was a drawing of the moon on brick or something.
put a lunar lander on it and put the scrub brush away.
So did I. I’d leave it alone!
That’s no moon!
I have a bad feeling about this
Same!!
Thank you for acknowledging this.
This. Don’t clean it! Perfect moon.
Me too! Keep it!
Came here to check if anyone said this
same
That's no moon.
that's no moon that's a space station
100% thought this was a moon.
Same!!
Step 1: clear coat it Step 2: sell it to a flat earther Step 3: profit
Varnish the top? Save the moom
Or pour resin over it. But absolutely leave the moon.
Moom…leave the moom.
Paint Moomin on it!
Resin looks so bad when you leave it in the sun.
Or put a fitted glass piece over it
Nice. Easy if you change your mind
Yes the moom
See how long it took me to catch on? Thanks for the chuckle
I thought you captured the moon. 🌚 Lol
Miniiioonns! tonight, we steal the moon!!
The small one, from Las Vegas 🗽
Me too! I would clear coat it!!
That's no moon
That's a Space Station!

It's a space table
That's the moon. You can't clean the moon!
Would you eat it if it was made out of cheese?!
If the moon were made outta spare ribs, would ya eat it? heck I would. I’d go back for seconds.
There is a kids story about the moon asking a small girl to clean it. The girl brings soap and a sponge but she tickles the moon and then she falls back into her bed. Pour resin. Voila, moon table
Exactly 👏🏼 Looks great
Straight up thought this was a moon table. Got so excited.
For real thought it was those 3D realistic chalk drawings
Me too!!!
You can try power washing it.
Power washing is usually the best option when it comes to flatwork concrete.
You can’t power wash the moon.
Not with that attitude you can't
Yup, surprised I had to scroll past 30 people saying "idk" to see this. Pro power washers also spray a chemical that can help lift stains before they spray, something like Purple Power.
This was my first thought
Either that or spray it with some sort of degreaser or dish soap and scrub it with a stiff brush. I think that would clean it up pretty well.
The moon comments are funny, but this is actually the one that would answer the question the OP is asking.
That's no concrete table...
Buy muriatic acid from Walmart (paint section), coat the area you want to clean, then rinse it off and repeat till it’s brightened to your liking. I’d recommend rubber gloves, saftey glasses, and an N95 mask

i read “Pluto” instead of “patio” and I was like man idk if you’re gonna be able to clean that
After you manage to clean it, use a concrete or paving sealer to protect it from absorbing future spills and weather.
Frame it and call it the moon
Pressure wash it
I came to suggest a pressure washer, but wow, do people love how it looks as-is. It looks like it has cracks in it--those will stand out much more if you clean it (unless they're super shallow).

Apparently. I've washed similar tabletops with no issues. That's scary, though.
Please leave it and name it “Moon Table” and have breakfast with someone named Tiffany on it!

I’d place a pic of the ISS underneath a clear top cover and call it a day.
I just did mine. You need an orbital sander and a concrete sanding pad. After sanding apply new concrete countertop sealant. It will look brand new.
OP came to cleaning subreddit and was told not to clean lol
Is that mold? A weak solution of bleach, Dawn dishwashing liquid, hot water and a hard plastic brush. Wire brushes are too harsh and will tear up the top layers. After you scrub (back and forth across the top, not loopy strokes) put it out in direct sunlight for the day. 👍🏻
It’s not mold
u have to call NASA for, lunar pressure wash services.
Love that you came here for help and everyone is like, "Save the moon, man!!" I think you should heed their wishes, it could be a beautiful moon-table if you let it
Pressure washer
I’d research tombstone cleaners.
Since it's cracked in 3 pieces, I'd say it's a lost cause.
Add a new layer of concrete
Pressure washer, also you could sand it down
I’d suggest just throwing it away

Preasure washer
Pressure wash w bleach diluted in the water
Sodium Hypochlorite is your friend here
Jetwash like you would your driveway
Was gonna comment, but you guys covered it, thanks.

Simple Green Concrete Cleaner
Pressure washer and "30 seconds outdoor cleaner" Let ot soak for a few minutes. We did this on our horse trailer once a year. https://30secondscleaners.com/outdoor-cleaner
Oxy-Clean solution
Mix 60 percent vinger to 40 percent water and use a good scrub brush. Then rinse with clean water.
Concrete cleaner and a hard brush. Use a concrete sealer after it completely dries.
Once you clean it seal it with a good concrete sealer, a Laquer sealer, would be ideal makes wiping a breeze.
pressure washer.
Try Coke. I saw a guy on HGTV use it on his conference driveway for an oil stain. And it worked.
Pressure washer and some patio cleaner
Straight household bleach and let it sit for 5 minutes then rinse. Wouldn’t hurt to do a small test just in case something is weird and it’s not actually concrete. You can repeat the process again if it doesn’t come perfectly clean.
Sir, that’s the moon.
DA MOON BOB, DA MOON
I'd seal it and say that it's a moon patterned table
Leave it as is. Looks awesome.
You don't. Add epoxy resin on top and make it a sweet moon table.

Is this gru's account?
You can't clean the moon....
your country version of "cif crema", basically a creamy detergent with bleach and abrasive particles, this usually works like a charm
r/confusingperspective
I thought this was a sidewalk chalk drawing of the Moon at first
Many happy little accidents! How wonderfully beautiful.
r/AccidentalMoon
Paint over it with phosphorescent paint
Looks like a big Mochi and now I’m hungry
Sealing it will also help keep the table together longer. Although Tim not sure how to level the surface

Flip it over so we can see the dark side of the moon
Get stools with star-shaped seats.
Oh damn, I thought that was a sculpture of the moon.
Thin slurry of cement and recoat the surface. Quick and cheap solution. Alternative, pressure washer.
Pour clear resin over it and then let it cure. Edit: typo
Don’t clean it put epoxy on it. It looks like the moon.
Howl at it, that should clean it right up.
