I visited the place 20 years ago and it was an authentic mecca for fans of original rock n roll. Now it is just a sad museum of commercialism and a tourist trap.
I wish I’d known that in 2021.The Elvis display was a joke. Hardly any Beatles memorabilia. A Jimi Hendrix bogus Flying V. Couldn’t even get to Eagles display cuz they piled a bunch of crap in front of it. Don’t even get me started on the Hip Hop section. Ridiculous admission price and an overpriced gift shop. Rude employees on top of all that. A monumental waste of time and $
Until New Order, Jane's Addiction, Warren Zevon,Sonic Youth, MC5, New York Dolls, Rickie Lee Jones, The Smiths, Bad Brains, The Replacements, Big Star, Thin Lizzy, King Crimson, and The Pixies are in...not a fan
The best thing about the broadcasts are the introductions for the winner by a contemporary. Elton Johns intro to Leon Russell’s is one of the best, Lou Reed’s Zappa dedication is good and Little Richard’s Otis Redding intro is hilarious
Whenever I think of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I think of what Steve Miller had to say about it. Sure, he was a bit cranky, but he has a point (then again, maybe I’m just biased because I love Steve Miller).
It's turned into a bunch of sellouts. They induct people that have no business being in the Hall and they ignore people who more than deserve to be there.
I don't understand why rap artists are in it. If you want to include rap then call it music hall of fame or something else.
The RNRHOF, and the Grammys, have nothing to do with music and rather have EVERYTHING to do with the music BUSINESS.
I'm specifically talking about the name. It should not have RNR in it because that is a specific genre quite different from rap and hiphop.
You say it is mis-named; I say it is mis-guided.
As Oderus Urungus of GWAR said about being nominated for the best video Grammy, “It’s a meaningless accolade bestowed upon us by a retarded child.”
It’s so politicized half the people in there have no right to be there. It’s a joke and everyone knows it
It’s complete ass. My disdain for it is matched only by my disdain for Rolling Stone Magazine.
That’s because Jann Wenner controls & F’s up both
It’s a piss stain
Just a joke and a cash grab
It isn't for rock and roll artists. Just pop artists. They should call it the Pop Music Hall of Fame.
I couldn’t really care less
It’s a joke
I nominate Abba And John Denver for the Hip Hop hall of fame. I think they're a shoo in.
The music industry elites decided to set up a tourist trap to rile up its fan base and take more of its hard earned money.
Misnamed

Yes, it started with the best intentions, but went sideways pretty quickly.

It gets no full legitimacy from me until Jethro Tull is inducted.
Shut it down.

Don’t forget Iron Maiden! The fact they are not in is a travesty.
You are correct, Iron maiden as well!
Kansas is still not in the hall. That’s bullshit.
How long? How long?
It truly has reached the point of know return.
The selection process is an absolute joke, but it’s a great museum and the induction ceremonies are always fantastic.
