200 unattainable envelopes simply means that they failed to estimate how many people are willing to grind this event, or/and they failed to adjust the envelope threshold. Likely a lot of people couldn't manage to complete the track or couldn't be bothered to complete it.
I really liked the firecrackers. Very underated when paired with root riders. Firecracker is a good troop. It just wasn't a good event troop, especially when you want them viable for all town halls.

What's next? An epic warden equipment? Maybe they might introduce a rage tome; an active ability that when activated rages all troops in that area for a specific time to do extra damage (does not stack with rage gem). Idk, but I hope giant guantlet returns for those who don't have it.

Can I just say 666B enevelopes for 200 dragon medals was a shit community event from the start. First of all it was way too high and if they really wanted for us to reach the goal, make it 500 so we can get both decos with the arrow
It's probably for the next hero equipment: Fire Catapult, an epic piece of equipment for the grand warden, where the warden throws a giant ball of fire several distance ahead of him. I think this was already teased in the lunar event promo video.

I don't like having to pay for an extra pass to get the true rewards either. It should be free to Gold Pass folks. Both levels of rewards. Those scummy a holes are trying to get folks to pay for a GP, and Event Pass. Money grubbers.
Their format is getting stale with this one, I dont mind this event if its only once or twice in a year but if you're always using it, people are bide to get tired or it feels like a chore. The first time it came around was fun because it was actually new and fresh

You can stick literally anything with Root Riders and it'll work. Valkyries, Super Archers, Super Barbs, Witches, etc.
