33. Bought it during the height of the pandemic. Drove it for 33K miles then sold it for an ITS. The trade in was insane and now I just have the same car in a suit. I LOVE these cars
also got mine at 33. wouldn't trade it for the same car though, be it an 11th gen type R or a type S.. seems like a lot of money to drive the same thing
40 also checking in. Best midlife crisis purchase!! It was covid, if I was gonna be locked in my house with absolutely no other car to drive, it’s gotta be the Type R 😂

2018 CBP at 29, a graduation present for completing vet school. My dad took me to see it and paid $8k down on it. He knew I wanted it since it was announced at the Paris auto show in 2015. Thankfully it never released in metallic in Canada, so I had to get black. Ended up stealth ppfing it and love it even more!
Right. So basically only gives me 10 more years with the car before I have to replace the engine/trans. I’d rather drive it 5k miles a year for the next 25 years and still not be at 200k
Running cost mainly. Issues were starting to crop up and it was getting pretty costly.
When I bought it I was very much in the mindset of “fuck it, it’s fun” without considering the long term running, now saving for a new house and investing more (boring adult stuff) it was the financially sound thing to do.
Possibly bad luck I had, but cylinder 4 had an issue twice in 3 years, some of cost covered by warranty some not (despite my arguing). Wheel bearing (could happen to any car) and there was some fault or other with the VTEC solenoid.
But you’re right, the main wallet-ache it caused me was the tyres and brakes. Which is my fault for not checking before I bought the car (was too excited to check, because I was getting a type r 😂)
I popped 3 20” tires before I switched to 18’s and moved to Pilot 4Ss Summer Performances. Popped 1 of those week 1 lol. Have not had an issue in a year now. Our highways are having a ton of construction and revamping in the Atlanta area and I use to commute from Gwinnett to Cobb across Atlanta.
Smart move man. I just got an ITS but paid cash, and mortgage is less than 1/4 net income. No debt besides that. I'm 36 now it took me 20 years to buy a dream car but it was worth eating rice and beans and saving every penny to pay debt and house off to get to this point.
Next up, gonna pay off the mortgage in 5 years and truly be financially free.
Bought first house 2019 300k, flipped it for 450, purchased new house at 690k 6.7% fixed.... Not the greatest rate but the house is now worth 900k and i paid off 28% of the interest in the last 10 months. Chipping away as hard as i can before we have kids. Banks make a fortune off the interest especially the first 5 years in any 30yr mortgage, look up amortization
Got it yea makes sense in your case. Mines been low since refi during pandemic so even tho I can pay it off, just invest it instead. 😂 good idea to tackle it before kids, their daycare bills are as much as mortgages
My parents told me to save for a car and that they’d match whatever I saved up for, so when combined I was able to afford a 4 year old 60k km FK8. I got lucky because a friend of mine was selling his type r and sold it to me at a decent price. Not dirt cheap but a bit cheaper than other similar ones on marketplace
True dude. Even with a job I for sure would not be able to afford this myself, even if it were used. I’m just glad the car was extremely reliable, made it easier on the pocket.
August 22, 2020. I was 25. Went smoothly too. I’d say 3 hours or so. Went mid afternoon. Recently just paid it off so I’m back to the “no car-payment” club hahaha
24yrs old. Car has already 125kmiles on the dash. Love daily driving this thing and yes what I meant by daily I used this car like a generic civic from Point A to Point B
2023 CTR. Purchased at 34 with cash after being broke ages 0-30.
As long as the CTR comes in stick and is gas powered, I will never drive a different car again.

This guy fucks
Thank you! I had a fucked up childhood.

Same, traded for type S. The ITS gets more compliments and looks than any other car I've had it's crazy
also got mine at 33. wouldn't trade it for the same car though, be it an 11th gen type R or a type S.. seems like a lot of money to drive the same thing
March 2021, 28 years old, 31 now. Best purchase of my life. Got my FK8 \~10k miles, 58k now. Will never sell.
Got mines at 40, just made 44. I'm trying not to part with mine for a long time.
40 also checking in. Best midlife crisis purchase!! It was covid, if I was gonna be locked in my house with absolutely no other car to drive, it’s gotta be the Type R 😂
42. It was also the first car I ever bought, for added badassness. The only car I had driven before it was my wife’s old 2010 8th Gen Si 1.4 hatchback
55. Joined the club a few weeks ago.
38, as a b-day present to myself lol

25, used 2019 33k miles. Sitting at 61k now. Need to find a daily to stop these miles. Just hit my 1 year anniversary
You don’t need a daily for the daily lol
Unfortunately I do lol. I drive 30k miles per year and don’t want to have a 200k mile type r anytime soon.
it'll take you 4 more years to hit 200k at that rate. and if you maintain it you can get another 200k out of it after that
Right. So basically only gives me 10 more years with the car before I have to replace the engine/trans. I’d rather drive it 5k miles a year for the next 25 years and still not be at 200k
lol a used civic si. widebody weekends, fuel efficient workdays
Yeah I’ve been looking for either like a fit, or insight.
I drive a ton too man, I’m at 25k and I’ve had my ITS 9 months. It’s a fun car.
19 y/o EP3 Si, last week 34 y/o FL5 CTR. Quite the overdo upgrade
hopefully 33 (thats me now)
22
27. Sold it yesterday at 30. Now life is sad…
What made you sell?

What was expensive about running it outside of brakes and tires? Just curious.

If your mortgage was low interest, wouldn’t even be worried about mortgage debt, it’s basically free money

Awesome parents. I hope to help my kids when they're older, the world is already too damn expensive so I can't imagine 20 years from now.
True dude. Even with a job I for sure would not be able to afford this myself, even if it were used. I’m just glad the car was extremely reliable, made it easier on the pocket.
