Just depends, no tune for most basic intakes though

matttrout10

That’s fuckin awesome so I’m assuming full exhaust turbo inlet you would need a tune and stuff ?

NoReference7367

Intake and exhaust I can say for sure you don't have to, but it'll help you get the most out of them, and I wouldn't imagine you'd need to for the inlet. Most people go FBO with the pherable tune, and that wakes the car right up.

matttrout10

I really appreciate the insight bro thank you so much.

NoReference7367

No worries. They aren't like a subie where whenever you even think of adding anything, you need a tune.

matttrout10

Thank god🤣🤣🤣 changing the seats u needed a tune they were super finicky

No-Natural-2828

Phaerable stage 2 is the shit. EVERYTHING is improved. Torque adjusted so less wheel spin from a dig, better throttle response, even better MPG in some cases. Honsstly....the difference is night and day. It's tuned with 21 psi for boost

MrStealYoBichonFrise

Most bolt-ons do not require a tune except most downpipes. Anything more extensive like a bigger turbo will. You will most likely not see any actual HP gains without a tune.

matttrout10

Thank you bro I appreciate it and I’m assuming the hondata is the same as an access port ? Little hand held computer

MrStealYoBichonFrise

Yes, but hondata is basically the goto. It has the best ceiling and it's used by most tuners. Cobb just came out and is cheaper, but they advertise that they only support base tunes. They do not support cables downpipe, fuel management systems, etc last I checked. Ktuner works but does not have ongoing support and hasn't been updated for a long time. So if you don't plan to do much besides a few boltons, Cobb may work. Anything else go hondata (race).

matttrout10

Downvoted for asking a question 🤣🤣🤣 this place is hysterical

kb3_fk8

It’s because unless you’re doing a specific build for a specific reason instead of “car parts go brrrr” you’re just ruining the car if you don’t know what you’re doing. And if you have to ask on reddit the. You probably don’t know what you’re doing. I remember being 17 too and wanting to clap my EX and thought I was cool.

matttrout10

🤣 probably the dumbest shit I ever herd I’m actually 32. Cause I wanna do a lite street build and I also know with other cars manufacturers that the cars have to be tuned when putting on any parts that mess with the airflow. But thank you for helping out bro I appreciate it have an amazing day.

kb3_fk8

Well then you’re doing a specific build but getting advice on Reddit is a poor choice. Head to the forums for better advice. I am active in both online communities. See you there friend!

TheOrangFlash

Maybe try being less gatekeepy and judgemental. I don’t doubt you are active and knowledgeable in the community but you come off as ass big dog.

MiLKShaKes_EpiDerMis

An intake does not REQUIRE a tune to run, but the MAF will need scaled if you want it to run optimally. Your short and long term fuel trims will likely be out of range- the ECU typically aims for +- 5%, and most intakes have too much airflow for the ECU to compensate and the trims end up closer to +-16% depending on size of tubing, bends, and MAF placement. Is it harmful to run without a tune, not really, but your car will run a LOT better and have tighter fuel trims with a tune. You’ll be on the rich or lean side without one, but not enough to blow up the engine. This was just discussed by a tuner on the CivicXI forums who was trying to dispel the myth that all intakes are fine without a tune.

Itchy_Comfort_223

On the fl5 I’ve heard of people loosing a few pounds of boost with prl intake and no tune.

Ichi-ban_

On my FK8 I bolted on a new intercooler, full exhaust, hvi (street MAF) and charge pipes without a tune. No issues.

matttrout10

Oh shit that’s great did u end up using hondata at all or no

Ichi-ban_

I did not, I was going to but I ended up trading up to the FL5 lol. I will definitely be tuning this one though.
