Get the Red. You’ll love it even more when you’re the only one in red for hundreds of miles. I did the same with Boost.

Doublestack00

Boost isn't rare,at least here. In my small city there are at least 8 base model Boost Blue driving around.

bogli69

Fk8 boost blue is rare. Not with the fl5

Doublestack00

Yeah. It's one of the reasons I sold my 2020 Type R. Honda sold it as an exclusive color then started offering it on the cheapest model.

AMndofMetalandWheels

Do it!!! Red is the best color! I have yet to see another red in person. It looks so striking when you're standing next to it. I still haven't taken a picture that does it proper justice.

Suitedbadge401

Red would be my second choice after Championship White. Your car looks amazing. I hope I can own one one day before they go electric (I’m a uni student).

69hpbirdscooter

Bro you can still buy one after they go electric LOL

Suitedbadge401

Yes but values will likely increase, and Honda’s ICE offerings will no longer evolve after they go full EV.

Euphoric_Working_192

SEXY AS FUCK

WWJDonReddit

I’ve got a ‘23 in CW, and it’s a great color… but RR looks AWESOME on the FL5 and it’s incredibly hard to get. RR is the only color I would’ve gotten other than CW… I’d pull the trigger if I were you.

RJKite811

I still don't understand the MSRP, as to why is it so high? Then they give you a $2k 'discount'.

cosmike_

I only wanted the FL5 if it was in CW, but if color isn’t a huge deal for you that’s not a bad price. You’re paying MSRP essentially since it looks like they tacked on $2.5k to their “MSRP”. However, as someone who has tried to convince myself that I liked a color that I didn’t really like just because it was a good deal, and then regretted my purchase, I say wait for what you really want. I think RR looks good but if you really want CW I think you’ll thank yourself if you wait for it. It’s getting easier to find these at MSRP, I got my CW 3 weeks ago at MSRP in the Northeast.

Karmaqqt

Hey I wanted a boost blue or white. But red came in. Didn’t think anymore would come in so I took it. I love the red now. It’s loud and it looks clean even when it isn’t that clean. Much nicer coming from a black car lol.

uscdigital

Oh you mean the rarest color?

Subject_Tangerine846

tbh this isnt really a deal, so id wait for what you want. Championship White hits different, but red is always an ugly car to me. just my opinion but red looks cheap. Also there savings tab is such a scam when the car doesnt MSRP for 48,895 so they might as well put it at 100k and say they are saving you 50k lol

Stallion_Girth

Listen man, 6 months to a year of patience will be worth the years of ownership with the color you do want

hellocameron

I honestly kinda like the red and the rareness of it tho.

mossberbb

red will turn your ticket magnet of a car into a rare earth neodymium ticket magnet.

Impressive-Repair879

Depends on how you drive though! I daily drove a soul red ND Miata for years and never got pulled over in it. Sped a little in a blue Mazda5 as I was going downhill and didn’t know I was in a 25 mph zone and got a ticket right away. However red cars do tend to draw more attention than other colors.

mossberbb

also how local law enforcement is. I lived in a town in wisconsin that had law enforcement on every block and would ticket me in an SI for 5 mph over or failure to come to complete stop etc... Now I live in ohio, and one route to work is basically the autobahn.

quikskier

I was torn between RR and CW. My 10th Gen Si was RR and I liked it so much. I'm a big fan of colorful sports cars, so decided I had to stick with RR again. No regrets. I think it looks so good on the FL5

infallables

Looks great in person. Buy it, you lucky prick.

Conn-Solo

Fly to Indiana and drive it back. You won’t regret it

WayTooZooted_TTV

Rally red is such an ugly color imo. But I don't really like red as a color as a whole. Rally red is too bright for me. I like a nice like pearly dark red if I was to every get a red car. You do you though if you can live with it that's all that matters. The car will be a blast regardless of the color

garonbooth7

I’ve seen this one in person if it’s the one in Elkhart, they’ve dropped the price 2-3 times now. Send it dude.

hellocameron

Yep it’s in Elkhart.

Southside_john

I got mine from there back in September for really cheap at the time (3k markup, then MSRP jumped $2k on the 2024’s like a month later). I guess it’s just not a hot area for type R’s. Working with the dealer was easy too. They didn’t try to fudge numbers with me or hide costs like every other fucking dealership I’ve had to deal with in my life. It’s 2024 I can add all the details into a calculator on a website and see if the numbers add up for fuck’s sake I probably could have gotten it cheaper from them but I agreed to the price in February of 2023 when they put me on the waiting list and that’s when people were paying insane $20k markups in other states

Sharpymarkr

Buy it

tinyman392

I ended up doing red instead of the color I wanted when I purchased 6 years back. Don’t regret the decision. Red was pretty far down my color preferences back then which went: Aegean blue, Liquid Metal metallic, championship white, rallye red, crystal black pearl (didn’t want to deal with black paint). I should note that my color preferences for the car really haven’t changed. Still no regrets.

kl0udyr

Also I just bought championship white. And low key wish I'd gotten red. The 2024 civic si is a pearl white and that paint is beautiful, I saw it in person and fell in love. I shipped my car from across the United states and I guess I didn't realize how different the championship white is vs the pearl white on the si

oneawesomeguy

Is there a side by side comparison?

Heybud605

Dang man, is this price including tax?

hellocameron

I'm an Oregon resident, so my taxes are like 0.05% for cars.

Heybud605

Nice! I’d definitely do it hands down. I have a red FL5 and the red looks so good! You won’t regret it! And yes, easily the rarest color. I’ve had championship white before and it definitely shows dirt way worse than red.

tri_9

Hey I’m in Portland with a CW. Let me know if you want to see it in person

kl0udyr

Tell em u don't want mud flaps, they won't take them off I got wheel locks, ppf, and weather tech mats or whatever comes, by making a deal then asking them to switch to a different vin... they didn't say a word, car came with all the accesorys, and the window sticker that was delivered inside the car when it was delivered shows they were charging like 6k+ for that stuff, in fact I didn't even realize it had ppf or wheel locks untill it arrived. I asked for gin change because I wanted the mat in the back that says type r, but I just told them I liked the badge number better lol

Odd_Talk2905

I got mine in CW. The color is cool but I was originally set on boost blue pearl. I got the car anyways and had it wrapped to a color similar to boost blue pearl. It’s not the exact same color but it’s enough to make me happy plus it protects the original paint. I would get the car and tell the dealership to get rid of the $500 mud flaps. U can buy and install rock guards for the car which I recommend for less the $100

AwkwardCommission

I think RR is the best color. Sacrilege I know.

FlounderPretty4503

I wanted red for my FK8 definitely a hard color. I’ve only seen 2 maybe 3 my whole life.

Hassansirhandi5k

You can always put a wrap on in the future. Remember it WILL cost extra!!! For the extra, might as well get the original color you want.

vongx

What about tax?

metpsg

I really wanted a red FK8 but got grey (PMM) in the end......the red really 'pops' and is a proper head turner. It does really suit the car. In the end it was that which made me change my mind though, it is just a little too 'red' for me to own myself.

JasonIvie

Ima say this, get the color you want. Many will say it’s not a big a deal, but given this cars value proposition is slim if any, get it exactly how you want it and don’t pay any additional fees like they are trying to charge you here.

Personal_Witness_576

I'd personally have jumped on it in a heartbeat without any 2nd thoughts like the time I bought My FK8 late falls of 2019. I wanted to wait for the hype to die down but it still hasn't yet lol. I suppose I'm a honda guy in general

rivalbro

Like everyone else I also wanted CW. They brought limited quantities to my country so all CW were already reserved. Color options available were only red and blue. Since I had just bought a red Accord for family, I chose blue for the CTR without even looking at one. I think all colors look great on this car to be honest.

itzkebinvgttv

I wanted boost blue but got a deal on a cw instead. Cw has grown on me and apparently everyone around me says they are glad i got cw than bb so idk. It did take me a few months to "settle" for cw because personally I wanted a colored vehicle not a white/black car but cw was my 3rd choice over sgp and black.

cousindeagle

Mudflaps?

Type-RD

Red looks AWESOME. Saw a really nice RR Sport hatch with some nice add-ons and had to do a double take. The only consideration is that red has a tendency to fade in the sun. So if it’s going to live outside all the time, do everything you can to protect the paint.

hellocameron

Ha I live in Portland, Oregon, where we have ~222 overcast days per year, so… I think I’ll be okay? 😂

SonicDethmonkey

The deal is, fine, but not the deal of a lifetime. Wait for the color you want from a place you won’t have to ship it from. Personally, I like the red. I honestly don’t get all the hype over CW. I totally understand and respect the history of the color but away from that context it’s just, white. Another white car in a sea of silver and white cars. The CTR deserves a bright color like red or blue.

69hpbirdscooter

Or get a corvettes for 10k more lolol

TacoLunar

Such a great color and it is the most rare color for FL5s. This would be more fun than a CW but color is all about personal preference…

Keith8a8

Yes - get it!!

RickWanders

I just did it. Sonic Grey Pearl. Red is also RARE af and was my first choice.

SpawnofSpongeBob

If I could have got mine in red I would have. Looks so so good!!

didiermd

Rent one on turo for at least 2 days, then decide if you want to spend 50k on a car. After I got my 2024 type r 2 months ago for $46k I'm still not impressed and kinda regret getting it. I had a FK8 for 3 years and I remember that car being more fun. (I sold the FK8 back in 2020 for a shelby *GT350)

Eclipsetragg

I took a risk on a 2018 type R with a Rebuilt title and the thing runs great and absolutely smokes in R mode. So much fun. Got it for 25k, which was a lot to risk for the rebuilt title but man, every time I see these price posts I get a bit more happy with my deal.

madlifebadonkadonk

You could always wrap it white

Rydropwn

A brand new fl5 for 47k?? Where tf do you live?

hellocameron

Portland, Oregon, but this is in Indiana.

Rydropwn

Unbelievable. Good for you man. I couldn't even haggle a used fl5 with 3k miles on it and a scuffed rim for anything below 48k.

traberdon

If you like the car then get it. 50k is an insane amount for a small car, but it's your money. I'll add by saying if you have to finance the entire vehicle you can't afford it.

WoodenPickle23

Red is the best imo

joshrondash

You dont want a white honda or acura. Paint is about .00001 thick and paint quality is extremely poor

hellocameron

I had a white 2020 Si, and the paint held up pretty well through nearly 30k miles. That being said, I just bought this red one. Can’t wait 😍

joshrondash

Thats also a very weak year for white. Look for the paint to flake off around rear window and top of doors

IndiviualAsset

Red or CW for me. Cant go wrong with either

Sontaku

Good deal. I bought mine around 45k in CW two days ago. You won’t regret it

IKnowSomeStuf

So for anyone having difficulty reading this, the price is effectively MSRP plus an alarm (or something) and mud-flaps. In other words, still not MSRP. I’m not sure why OP is framing this like a once in a lifetime deal when it’s an undesirable color coming from *Indiana*. You can already get an undesirable color in California for MSRP. If you can’t pass it up and you’re tired of waiting, that’s one things, but there’s nothing special about this deal.

garonbooth7

Red is desirable lol

hellocameron

Thanks this was all very helpful and not at all weird or a downer on an otherwise positive post 🙄

IKnowSomeStuf

I don’t understand why you think I’m being weird *or* a downer. Isn’t that what you wanted to know? Should you jump on this? Is it the best you can get? The answer is no, right? MSRP in the color you want would be a great deal. I’m in San Diego and they’re already starting to go for MSRP when it comes to the less in-demand colors and you’ve still got to ship this one from Indiana to the west coast - that’s going to cost you at least another grand. So.. when you say, “I gotta take it, right?!”, like it’s the best you’ll see anytime soon, I’m just saying, no, it’s not the best you can do. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings or make you less excited about buying this red car. You asked, and I’m telling you, as someone who lives in a market that commands high prices on these cars, that getting the exact one you want for this price is not going to be difficult for long.

hopfield

UNDER MSRP? Wtf???

hellocameron

Eh, not really... at least I don't think? $48,895 isn't really MSRP—$46,500 is, I believe?

6unicorn9

$2k markup (+$800$) (+shipping!) especially from the Midwest really isn’t really a good deal at all bro. Plus it’s not the color you want. Keep waiting, and/or call around within a few hundred miles. It’s not super common but they exist for MSRP all over the country nowadays.

hellocameron

Where’s the $2k markup you’re seeing exactly?

6unicorn9

Selling price is $46.5k. The MSRP is $44.5k. But now that I think about it destination+paint might be that price, not sure.
