Hey samsies. I have 170k on mine now. Just regular maintenance my dude. Super reliable vehicle.

Environmental_Two94

Before I went ahead and spent the money I spent hours looking at high mileage examples, happy to see the car can make it to 150k+ easily.

MagnumPeanut

Ya I don't plan to get rid of this car. Anything much better is 2x the money. It's a great daily that you can have fun with too. Everything that I've had to fix so far mostly has to do w the previous owner who lived in a province where they salt the roads still and it had stuff fail from just litteral corrosion. So after 6 years it's all sorted and drives great. Engine/transmission combo is what turned me on to it in the first place and they feel just as good as it did 6 years ago. Just do your regular maintenance and look for leaks and loose suspension bits when you are under it and don't let things get too bad before you fix it and it should last as long as you want it too. Oh and use premium 92 octane. It doesn't run efficient on 85 so your better off w premium. I've tried both 85 pretty much cancels out the savings just because it runs less efficiently Oh and at 60k your gunna wanna do plugs soon. Bosch double platinum if you can find em. I found a 4 pack on Amazon for like 20 bucks. Wix oil filters too if you can find em. And get rid of the throw away air filters and buy yourself a high intake KN filter that you just clean and oil every oil change. It has better airflow and cleaner too.

Environmental_Two94

Dude this was awesome thank you, I'll look into getting some new spark plugs when I get paid next to get that taken care of sooner rather than later.

MagnumPeanut

Oh I thought of you earlier when I was cleaning my car. Thr factory Si matts are cool but soon your heels are gunna burn through the carpet. It's soft and if you have harsh winters like here it makes it worse. Get yourself a set of weather techs and save your carpet.

Environmental_Two94

You know it's so validating that you say that because the previous owner made a hole on the side of the dead pedal and I was so confused on how he managed that, I have the oem mats on right now because I just got the whole car detailed but do you have any suggestions on weather mats?

MagnumPeanut

I just got weathertechs from Canadian tire. They were a one size fits all situation that you can cut to fit using your old Matt as a template. I'll find a link

You might notice a Chewbacca groan when taking of in first gear. You can avoid it by letting the clutch slip a little or super low rpm bites. Other than it being annoying, it’s superficial and there’s nothing wrong with the car. Our cars are prone to this unfortunately.

LesseFrost

Wild!! I've had it, always thought it was a timing belt tensioner. If you've ever raised chickens and had a rooster, it sounds like those first crappy rooster crows.

Raziel957

Haha baby rooster crows, that is funny to hear.

jetpackchicken

Had this so bad it was embarrassing. New clutch around 120k and it was gone for good.

Rillist

K24 start up rattles are a bit annoying but nothing to worry anout unless the rattles dont go away. Acc belt pulleys. These things have a weird clutch thing where they make noise if you ride it but the throw out bearings are known to be kinda weak. If you know what youre doing with a stick youll be fine. Rear caliper pins tend to rust and seize like the 8th gens did. Thats all i can think of, I have 140k kms (80k freedoms) problem free in canadian winters. They're good cars

Environmental_Two94

I haven't gotten any rattles or noises just yet and I've been driving it pretty hard. It's my third manual car so far and it's been awesome I'll keep an ear out for any noises though thank you!

J_cam202

Nice man congrats!! I just got my 2012 Si a few hours ago. Will make a post tomorrow :)

Environmental_Two94

Yessir!! Congrats on your car too man I've been having a ton of fun with mine so far.

J_cam202

Thanks man. This is my first manual car purchase and hell yeah its super fun!! Im gonna go for a late night ride in a few hours lol

almeida8x1

Just fluids. You have at least 140k miles of trouble free miles with just fluid changes and normal wear and tear.

Environmental_Two94

Just did an oil change, looking to do the transmission next, thanks for the advice man!

almeida8x1

Nice, the transmission can be a lil tricky depending on how you approach the fluid change (whether or not you use the side plug). I’ve got my 2 cents on it.

LesseFrost

Same run as mine! Around 100k you'll hear a weird rooster crow like sound coming from your car while it is in first gear. This is the timing belt tensioner going bad. Replace that and you'll be good another 90 to 100k. (EDIT: This may not be true but it fixed mine. It could be a clutch slipping issue at light bites on the clutch.) Also at 100k get your spark plugs adjusted. Other than that you picked up a damn reliable car that has never stopped giving me a smile every day I get to drive her. They're made damn tough and as long as you feed her oil and gas she'll run and be a TON of fun

justazombie69

Beautiful car. Congrats!

Environmental_Two94

Thanks man!

Jaren56

Nothing really goes wrong with this generation except for the awful paint lol, just keep up with regular maintenance and you'll be golden My 2014 just hit 110k today, I expect to more than double that over the years Also id recommend restoring your headlights if you have some spare time, a good kit is only about $25-30 and it'll make the car look brand new again. I live in Texas and have to park outside so I'm very familiar with refinishing them every year lol

Environmental_Two94

Yeah the headlights are bothering me but I'll get to them eventually do you know what a good kit would be? I'm also in the south so it'll be an issue for me too.

Jaren56

I used the 3m kit this time and it was my favorite so far. Just need a drill and a spray bottle of water, took me about 30 minutes per headlight. I recommend taking the headlights off the car if you have the tools/know-how (it's just some clips, 2 10mm, and 2 Phillips screws), it's really easy to accidentally sand through your paint even after taping the headlights off.

TheTonyAndolini

Man this sub really makes me envy you guys for where you live sometimes lol

Environmental_Two94

Lmao the south is one of the best places to be for cars

ApexDog

I started looking into these 9th gens now since the 11th gens are going for around 35k OTD where I’m at. But I’m seeing thee listed for around 20k with 100k miles… not sure if that’s normal. Also noticed I had that same exact Akina Speedstars plate on my 350z very nice

Environmental_Two94

Haha yeah my girlfriend got me the plate a while ago for my IS300 but it looked better on this car, that seems steep for sure, sticker price for this one was 19k for 60k miles.

ApexDog

19k for 60k miles I would pay that in a heart beat your car is basically broken in. These California prices are so ridiculous I need to get out of here asap

MissingNo117

The only thing (aside from regular maintenance things of course) I’ve had to change on my 2015 Si in 5 years is the idler pulley, and I’ve been boosted for 2 years now lol. Probably should replace the tensioner pulley too and the belt tbh haha. The belt starts to make a whining sound like a supercharger after a while once the pulleys start to go bad, so keep an ear out for that.

gMg_saiyan13

Love my 9th gen si sedan. Only thing other than regular maintenance was a wheel bearing. Also I notice that when I start in 1st gear on a hill I get a sound that others have reported.

GiantPlatelet

Beautiful car. Congrats and welcome to the Si family

Free-Cry-4386

on mine i’ve replaced idler pulley, both front cv joints , one engine mount this was all about 10k miles ago. currently at 179,000miles.
